Could not have been happier with overall project. Jim sent David who single handedly built us a magnificent set of oak stairs and new rails!I recommend them 100% great work and wonderful attention to detail!
Description of Work: I was referred to Jim and his company by the gentleman I contacted for a bid to put in wrought iron balusters. I wanted a bid for replacing the fill raining and stairs as well and was so glad when he directed me toward someone he works with regularly.Jim came over and spent time with me discussing our various options and within 48 hours I had a detailed bid. I asked not only for a new railing but to have the whole staircase and steps redone. We met on a Monday, okayed the bid before the end of the week and by Monday morning of the following week the work had begun! Over the next 3 days my entire stair way was redone. They worked weli with the wrought iron company we chose as well as the gentleman who did our final stain work. Cleaned up every night after work was done for the day too!

It started out great before it went downhill after they got the check. Jim arrived on time for the initial meeting and had good suggestions for the type of balusters. He was very friendly and answered all of my questions. He later dropped over a sample baluster for us look at before we decided. He worked well with the floor company to schedule the removal of the old stair materials. The crew that came over appeared professional and courteous. After the the new newels, handrails, and balusters were installed, the floor company continued their work and it was, therefore, not easy to inspect the work from McFadden closely before the entire floor project was completed several weeks later. Overall I thought the stairs looked great, but there was a few minor issues that I pointed out to Jim. The new balusters are square rods, not round like our old ones, so it is important that they line up square with the edge of the steps and are not allowed to rotate before the glue dries. Several of the new balusters are rotated slightly and are not square. It's not so bad that I intended to have them redone, but they are obvious enough by just looking at them. In addition, I discovered that a screw on a handrail mount was put in crooked on the back stairs. I called Jim to ask if he could come over and look at it. He said no problem and we set up an appointment. He never showed up or called. I called him back and he said he was running late and was on his way and that he would call when he got close. No call. Not that day, not the next day. I called him again and left messages, no response. I called again and he apologized and we scheduled a meeting again. Did not show. This went on for several weeks until I gave up. I do not believe that Jim ever intended to come by and look at my stairs. I wasted a lot of time waiting on him to show up and my back stairs are still not corrected, but I've given up on Jim. I would not recommend this company as the work is average and the customer support after the sale is non-existent.
Description of Work: Remodeled front staircase as part of a wood floor remodel performed by another company. McFadden & Associates were responsible for removal of the old newels, handrails, and wood balusters and replacing with new forged metal balusters and new wood newels and handrails. They also replaced a wood handrail on the back stairs so the floor company could stain to match the new floor color.

They gave us an estimate for part of the job. We really liked them; but we didn't go with them because they couldn't do the entire job. They couldn't do the wrought iron railings. The experience was great. There are many things I would highly recommend them for future use and friends as well as families.
Description of Work: McFadden & Associates gave us an estimate to the put wooden stairs about three weeks.
