We have purchased a refrigerator and an oven from Gold Star. The appliances sold to us seem to be fine so far. The fly in the ointment is the installation. When our oven was installed by their installer, the gas line was crimped causing a very slight, barely detectable gas leak. It took a while for us to notice it and then it cost us $1800 to get it fixed. Gold Star refused to help with any of the cost. In hindsight, I wish we had gotten our appliances from some other company that backs up the installation of their products.

Description of Work: Purchased suite of Kitchenaid appliances at Gold Star Appliances in Richardson. We were very pleased with our salesperson, Jerry Gable. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Goldstar was the first place we looked for appliances so got prices and then shopped around. Gold Star had the best prices... better than all the "Big Box" stores. Appliances were delivered on time as promised. I highly recommend Jerry Gable and Gold Star in Richardson.

Description of Work: Bought and installed a new dishwasher. The sales people were helpful with discussing the different products with no sales pressure. I went in on the first day of my shopping experience during the holiday week and they were short handed due to illness but still gave me respect of my time. The installers called and showed up right on time and went straight to work. They even took extra time to help retrieve an item stuck in the bottom of the dishwasher. They also took extra care to carefully remove and replace an extra custom border around the area where the old dishwasher was. I would most definitely use them again for future needs.

Great. Sent email for a price, called to order and they had it brought out by installer a few days later. Installers did a professional job removing old unit, cutting for new unit, and installing the new unit. Cleaned up their mess. I liked the fact I did not have to goto show room or deal with a time wasting sales experience. Good price, and reasonable delivery/installation charge--$200 on top of price mentioned here--which was payable to installer. Definitely will be my first call for future appliance needs. We are happy with the product we purchased and the installer. The problems we encountered involved the salesman's handling of the purchase of a service contract and rebate. We were replacing an existing ice machine and had done some research so we pretty much knew what we were going to purchase. The salesman did seem knowledgeable about the different products. He offered an extended warranty on the one we bought and while we do not usually buy those we decided in this case it might be a good idea as we had had the old machine worked on and service calls were quite expensive. We set up delivery on a day we knew my husband would be home. They showed up on the wrong day, so they had to reschedule to come on the day that we had requested. The salesman obviously had set up the wrong day after the discussion . The installer was very nice about rescheduling, it was not a problem and the installation was fine. But days went by and we never received the service contract that the salesman said would come to us in and quot;about a week.and quot; It took 21 days and 2 phone calls to get him to do it. What we received was a paper showing that they had submitted a and quot;contract validationand quot; and if I need service it will be through a third party. I am supposed to take their word that it has been submitted and I have no actual contract in my possession. Since I had to call then twice to get them to do it I do not have much confidence in their word. The other issue I had with them involved a rebate. There was a big orange sticker on the type of ice machine we bought that said there was a $300 rebate. I asked the salesman and he said and quot;Oh you have to buy several appliances to get that.and quot; I know that is true of some appliances but I looked at the sticker and it did not say multiple appliances had to be purchased. They dug around at the service desk and could not find the rebate submission paperwork and told me to and quot;get it online.and quot; Well then I found out searching online that I had to submit the rebate to the company that distributes to Gold Star. Another phone call to Gold Star supposedly confrimed that. It remains to be seen if the rebate will be honored. They should not have a big orange sticker promoting a rebate if they don't know anything about it and that is how the people at their service desk acted. I have purchased many appliances there before and have never experienced such incompetence and indifference to customer service. Had it not been somewhat of a specialty item we would not have purchased it there. UPDATE: I did finally receive some service contract documentation. Also, after a phone call to the distributer after a month, I also received the rebate. Because of the numerous calls and effort I had to go through to get both of these I stand by my customer service rating but want to include the final resolution.

I must say looking at the Angies' reviews and what's online in general, it's really interesting that what you see is either totally and quot;Aand quot; or totally and quot;Fand quot;. So I actually went in in talked to these folks in person. (This was after getting run-around on the availability, install scheduling, service area, and pricing from other dealers. I got suspiciously high quotes with install coming out $500+ higher than what I eventually got here at GoldStar.) I must say that Michael was a great guy to work with, and it was basically a and quot;been there - done thatand quot; don't worry we'll get the right model in with no issues and work with your schedule. He was upfront that there is a 2 to 3 day delay in getting the unit up from the central warehouse. Michael took the time to verify the measuremnts and pictures I took (50-60's Magic Cheff !) to find an exact replacement. The cost of new Maytag (plus the $140 install) was competitive even compared to and quot;arrives when it does and install it y'erselfand quot; Internet pricing. This allowed me to upgrade to the Stainless Steel version and still stay in budget. Unit was available for install as promised early in the week, but I had them put this off to the last second/Friday due to the floor install. This was not an issue (I had warned them up front I needed flexibility), and they even called on Thursday to offer to get it done early Friday morning instead of afternoon. The install included removal of the the museum piece, and intalling and wiring in the new unit into newly painted cabinets (...across newly finshed hardwoods on a new kitchen tile floor). It went without a hitch ... it was amazingly painless, and when I checked in at luchtime there was no indication they were even there except the shiny new oven. Well, too be honest, the installer did leave fingerprints on the stainless (gasp), but a quick wipe down fixed that. Kitchen sure looks a lot better with it and should last a long time based on history of this model. Tenants are pleased, and I'm happy.
Description of Work: - Based on my measurements and pictures, GoldStar of Richardson (Michael) helped me select a reasonably priced wall oven (wall ovens are already premium/over-priced in my opinion anyway), good quality/history (went with a Maytag CWE4800ACS). And this had to directly replace an "ancient" 50-60's Magic Chef unit with a screatching timer. - Install around a changing schedule of other contractors (I was updating a retal property with new floors etc. thoughout the house, so a bit of a scheduling act. Had to be done "fast" but in synch with when floors and paiting were ready/dry etc.)

Poorly. Goldstar and Kitchen Aid fail miserably in customer service. I purchased a Kitchen Aid 30 inch gas cooktop. The knobs overheat while cooking and require the use of an oven mit to turn off. Goldstar and Kitchen Aid are aware of this design defect with knobs overheating. Goldstar and Kitchen Aid refuse to do anything about this matter. In the meantime, we're stuck with a Kitchen Aid gas cooktop that is dangerous to use and could potentially cause serious burns while using the knobs. Run, dont walk, way from Goldstar and the purchase of any Kitchen Aid appliance. Their negligence and refusal to address a problem regarding possible injury is reprehensible. We advise anyone considering Goldstar or Kitchen Aid to chose another dealer and appliance manufacturer - don't buy from any company that does not stand behind their product.

On 11/18 I went into Goldstar and told the sales person Diana I wanted to purchased a Miele Dishwasher, I knew the exact model. she wrote the price, model number, and delivery-install- haul away on the back of her card. On 11*25*11 I went to the store showed her the card that she had quoted the price and she went to see Frank ( the owner) she came back saying the price had changed they wanted to charge me an additional $80.00 for shipping of the product from the Miele warehouse to Dallas and also raise the " delivery- install fee from $140 to $220. The result I told her I would go somewhere else. being charged an additional $80.00 is outrageous, unfair and the classic "bate and switch" I had a quote in writing on the sales persons card which I still have. All stores have a minimum price that they have to sell Miele products and can not go lower than but Mr Frank ?? want more. not with me, and he should realize that word of mouth is the best and worst advertising.

They were really great to work with. They were very knowledgeable and really good at steering us to what we wanted. We got a good rebate. I purchased a top-of-the-line KitchenAid dishwasher from them. When the install was done, it was a used dishwasher, and KithcenAid said it was made for Canada, as the instructions were in French. Gold Star first refused to replace it. Then they finally agreed to replace it, and the replacement was poorly installed. i ended up with water everywhere 1st time I used the dishwasher. I finally grew tired of making numerous unreturned calls to them, and finally hired a professional to re-install the replacement dishwasher. Overall, I found them to be less than reliable, and would rate their service Poor.

The job went well, but they have different processes you have to follow. I met with Eldridge and he gave me a tour of the store, looking at different appliances. I chose all GE appliances except for the cook top, which was a MayTag. I went home, did my own measurements, and called Eldridge back. I ordered them over the phone and they delivered the appliances and sent out an installer. They appliances look great and everything went smoothly. Gold Star gets all A's, but the installer didn't do a very good job of assuring things went well when removing the old appliances. James Smith, the installer, did everything well except trying to protect my floors. When I asked him to clean up the mess (i.e. the water all over the floor when he removed the dishwasher), he told me he wasn't going to b/c he didn't bring anything to clean it up with. The appliances did all get installed and they all look great.
Description of Work: I changed out all my appliances in my kitchen from all white to all stainless steal. I purchased a wall oven, microwave, trim kit, a gas cook top, a range hood, and a dishwasher (cost $2,764 + $530 install price).
