the sheetrock in my newly purchased house was a wreck (you could see the panels separating in most rooms and the previous owners had a penchant for silver and bright colored paints in every room). the drywall looked like someone had punched a big hole in the ceiling in two rooms and every square inch required some repair or replacement of the drywall. they did an exceptional job. the house is a 1920's craftsman and they took care to repair the drywall as if it was their own house. Alex and his dad work for Eagle contractors and they worked as a team on the house. They were there for three weeks (although the estimate was for two weeks). they were timely and considerate, cleaning up after themselves every day. they were available via text (which was a godsend with my schedule). they answered all of my questions and helped with a few minor repairs while they were there. on the last day, they accommodated my schedule and finished on a weekend, even though they don't normally work those hours. and at one point during the job, my deck sprung a leak (completely out of the blue) - alex told me what part to get at home depot and he fixed it for me on the spot - saving me $$$ from a plumber call! the work looks great, i get compliments all the time. i would hire them again for any detail work on the house. the only downside is that the quote was for 2 weeks of work (they charge by the hour) and with the repair work running over an entire week - i ran out of budget to finish the painting. that being said, I'd highly recommend this crew for any discerning house owner. they truly love working on older homes and their craftsmanship proves it.
Description of Work: repair and replace drywall in most of the house, painting and door fixing.

The existing slate was crumbling and coming loose. Jon Seay removed all of the existing slate tile and old mortar. He then installed new mortar and laid the new porcelain tiles in a pleasing random pattern. He then suggested that we may want to consider cutting some of the leftover new tiles to create a baseboard effect by covering the portion of the slab that was visible. We all agreed that this gave a more finished appearance. This is why we like working with Jon; he is always thinking of ways to improve the final installation. So he installed the base and the finished patio looks great!
Description of Work: Removed existing slate from the patio. Applied new mortar base; installed new porcelain tile on patio and cut tile base. Grouted tile.

Once again, Jon Seay of Eagle Construction has transformed an area of our home. This time it was the Master Bathroom. Jon is great to work with and is always on the job. This job required working to a point, letting others measure then coming back after they had fabricated their part. This was true of the shower pan and walls, then the shower glass enclosure, then the marble. Jon was willing to work other jobs in between. He helps to work through challenges that arise and suggests items that shold be attended to now to avoid future problems. This is the third time we have had him do major work and we have always been more than pleased with the results. He is thorough and meticulous, even if that takes him longer than he expected. His attitude and good nature are very much appreciated. The before and after photos are the best evidence of his abilities, although the bathroom looks even better in person. Note: the homeowner paid for all of the materials used by Jon. The shower walls, pan, glass enclosure and granite were installed by the companies that provided them.
Description of Work: Demolished: existing shower fixtures, cultured marble shower walls, substrate and pan, tile floors baseboard and shoe molding, existing vanity cabinets plumbing fixtures, countertops with sink. Removed tub skirt and toilet. Prepared shower floor for new cultured marble pan; installed new cement board walls, new shower valve and fittings, provided access opening in closet. Painted walls and baseboard; installed two new vent fans. Leveled floor, installed underlayment, new tile and baseboard. Picked up and installed two new vanities, built a drawer box and installed a drawer in one vanity. Installed mosaic tile insert in shower walls, built, installed and tiled curved whirlpool tub skirt and backsplash. Reinstalled toilet, installed new faucets and new cutoff valves in vanities and tub.

We found Eagle Construction on Angie's list. With their overall customer rating, we thought it would be a good start for getting an estimate. Made an appointment with Jon. He called 20 minutes before the appointment time telling us that he was running late. He arrived one hour later than the appointment time. He came in with an Angie's List honor award print out. (I don't know when he won it.) Measured everything, and told us what he can do and what he suggested us to do to save us money. He said that he would email us an estimate "in a couple of days". We did not hear from him in two days. A week later, on May 17, Jon sent us an apologetic email saying how busy he was, then he would write out the estimate later that day, and email us. He "would call us after emailing it to make sure" we get it. It is May 28 today. We still have not got the estimate, nor the phone call, or anything.
Description of Work: We are ready to remodel our master bathroom. The job would involve replace the old carpet with tile/stone floor, re-wall the shower, putting granite counter top...

Jon responded well initially and made a free visit to give estimate. He was good at explaining and frankly giving advice. But once he noticed that the job involved was not his niche ... he promised to refer me to a plumber that he knows well. He wanted me to "HANG ON" for his call. That's where the professionalism ended. He would keep saying the plumber is on a vacation, and asked me to be patient and hold on ... this lasted many-many days. He would not accept my calls/text messages .... just ignore me many times. I felt very bad about that. He would have been more professional by saying "I AM SORRY .. I CANNOT DO THE JOB/NOR GIVE YOU A REFERENCE" rather than leaving me hanging there. I do not recommend him .... he might be good at his job .. but he does not communicate very well and leaves you feeling unwanted.

Jon was prompt in coming to the property to review the repairs needed and to submit a bid. He had a prior committment and was clear when he could begin my project. The work began on time and was completed by the agreed date, with a few final touchups the following week. The work performed was of top quality and the house is now "like new". Jon and his employee were professional and diligent, going out of the way to address any and all repairs. Eagle Construction is my company of choice for all home repairs!
Description of Work: Total refurbishing of a rental property. New master bathroom installed, guest bath replaced vinyl / carpet with tile, tiled utility closet. Cleaned and sealed existing tile in the kitchen/dining area as well as new tile. Finished baseboards and molding in kitchen and 1/2 bath where original installer did not complete the job. Patched, primed and painted the entire house, including ceilings. Replaced faulty electrical fixtures in kitchen and utility. Replaced/ installed ceiling fans and lights. Re-worked a toilet. Performed carpet tear-out prior to new installation. Installed new blinds, window screens and replaced broken window. Located and alleviated a standing water problem which was seeping into the house. Checked and repaired even things that I had failed to see, and that were not part of the original request.

I contacted Jon Seay for an estimate on the bath remodel shortly before Christmas. He met me at the tenant's home and reviewed the area, promising an estimate w/in a week. He also explained that he was currently completing some projects and that he would not be able to start this one until the week of January 5th. The work was actually begun on January 12th and took 3 weeks. Everything that Jon encounterd was in worse shape than we thought (the home is 28 years old) but he was able to repair or replace everything--including a washer drain that was leaking while he was there! The additional cost for problems we found was minimal, and most of the labor he "threw-in". Jon always was respectful of my budget, but he never cut corners. If there was a question about something, he always asked. He takes pride in his work and the results show it. His work is professional and complete and his attitude and customer service are exemplary.
Description of Work: Completely remodeled the master bath in my rental townhome. Removed and re-installed new tile in tub-surround, new tub, fixtures and raised shower height by 6". Removed old vanity top and plumbing, installed new vanity top and sink fixture, drain plumbing and supply valves and lines. Removed and installed new toilet with new valve and supply lines. Removed old vinyl flooring and replaced with new tile, grout, and sealer. Installed new exhaust vent with heater. Repaired, prepped and painted the walls.

Overall went reasonably well. The job took longer than hoped, but that was our fault, not Jon's. We had quality issues with our sink base cabinet and had to wait for reorder. Jon did a great job opening up a wall to our family room. The backsplash was great and we've received many compliments. He matched the texture of our existing walls well on the new painting. He was nice, pleasant and the kids liked him. I trusted him completely. He even found us a deal on our floor tile we wanted and we got a great price. The one issue is our floor tile installation. The travertine just doesn't look right in some places. We had a foundation issue and we told Jon about this up front. He thought he had a good solution to minimize any future issues, but in the end I think it wasn't right. The floor should have been leveled more completely. As a result, there is lippage and it drives me crazy. Jon knocked off a lot from the bill to compensate for it, which I appreciated. He clearly knows how to install tile. I think this was just a unique issue. Depending on the job, I'd call Jon again. Jon's prices are good and he is pleasant and responsible. Some people are complaining about his time management, which I can see, but remember it's a trade-off. If you want something done in a day, pay for a multi-man firm.

I found Jon Seay of Eagle Constructions on Angie's List, and was impressed by the positive reports he seemed to have received. I contacted him, along with a few other companies, but found him to be the most confident, and reassuring person among all those I interviewed. I explained what I wanted to do, and he came over to take a look for himself. We negotiated the price, and agreed upon a competitive deal. He came over on the appointed day, and started on the dividing wall. We got the only surprise of the project then, that part of the dividing wall which was to be taken down was partially load-bearing. He fixed that issue by installing joists in the attic to make up for the lack of the load bearing section. He waived the labor costs for this. He completed all three tasks in fair time, considering he had to spend some extra time taking care of support in the attic. Jon and his assistant did the whole job very well, taking care of all my wishes. He works steadily and surely. I am very happy with the job he has done.
Description of Work: I had recently bought the home, and one of my to-do lists was to have the kitchen much more open to the living room. I wanted to have a dividing wall between my kitchen and living room taken down so that the kitchen would be much more open to the living room. I also wanted the convection oven moved from one section of the wall to another. Finally, I wanted to lower the breakfast bar so that it would be more flush with the rest of the countertop.

Jon indicated he would call me with a date, but I never heard from him again. I tried him two weeks ago just in case he was too busy at the beginning of the summer. I haven't received a return call.

I got his name from Angie's List and it said he was an award winner. I couldn't find any reports on him and it didn't say when he was this award winner. I called him and he gave me an estimate in excess of $12,000 but we had to stop him early as the quality of his work was terrible. He subcontracted out the sheetrock work and painting and this lady did a lovely job. Thank goodness the plumbing was already done and inspected before he started. He was very nice and professional when I talked to him but his work was terrible. His helper ruined all of the baseboards and he said he could lay slate and granite together but he didn't know how to do it. It took forever and I think he was just stretched too far. He wasn't the cheapest bid that I took and he thought he could do more than he was qualified to do. It was taking way too long and he wasn't showing up on time or calling and there was even times he didn't show up at all because he had to go to another job site to do work there. When I pointed out to him the areas that I was very disappointed with, he looked real sheepish and said that they would fix it. They did end up refunding some money.
