Selman Home Inspections

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY My real estate agent recommended David Selman and his company for 3 homes I was interested in buying. The first two inspections seemed pretty good. By the third inspection I thought Mr. Selman knew what things I was really worried about and were very important to have thoroughly inspected, like the electrical system. I had walked away from the previous two homes for several reasons, electrical issues being at the top of the list. I ended up buying the 3rd home after having the seller fix all items listed in the report. However, to mine and my family?s horror, the third inspection was not what we had believed it to be. Unfortunately, we did not realize this until after we moved in and started having some work done. Mr. Selman did the inspection himself. He totally missed a bird nest, yes I said a BIRD NEST, complete with baby bird skeleton in the main electrical shut off panel which was right next to the meter. He also did not find that the home had aluminum wiring which had been connected to copper although only a small percentage done up to code with the majority of the plastic connectors burned or even melted. He could have found these things if would have simply looked. These things were not hidden under anything, nothing had to be moved to get to them. Needless to say if these items had been on the report I would have walked away from this home like I did the first two. When I contacted him he said he was not responsible and that ?a home inspection is not an exhaustive list of defects? and a bird nest in the main panel was the least of the issues with the house. After getting over the shock of his reply, I explained that I had all the issues he listed fixed by the seller prior to escrow. This did not matter and he took zero responsibility for the ?over-site?. I have paid out over $10,000.00 to fix the electrical issues that were missed by Mr. Selman. My real estate agent could not believe Mr. Selman?s attitude and wrote him a letter urging him to work something out with me, but he refuses. Mr. Selman likes to post what a devout Christian he is on his Facebook page but his actions say something entirely different. This is very sad. The tag line in Mr. Selman?s email says "Accurate Investment Protection You Can Trust". I trusted him and look what happened. To add insult to injury I now get junk email from him every other week and also get emails from other service companies he must have sold my address to just like Kendall Wiley says. Please, do not put your family?s safety at risk or find yourself with costly repairs as a result of using this company for a home inspection.
