We chose one of the options Carlos gave us that he did not do but his guidance was much appreciated.
Description of Work: Carlos responded to our call promptly, was friendly, professional and gave us all the options available to us to repair our kitchen sink/countertop, including options that he did not do. Carlos, and his crew showed up when they said they would every day and kept us informed throughout. Carlos even sealed our shower and moved a AC duct that were not in the bid for free. Great job and we will sure use them again. Very professional and considerate. Qualities you don't find as much these days.

Carlos and his crew did an incredible job remodeling our home. The approximate cost listed in this review includes the materials we purchased separately, but with the contractor's discount. This enabled us to control costs. Carlos and Daniel (his right-hand man and crew supervisor) showed up on time for the pre-work estimate, answered all of our questions, and agreed to do the project for the cost of labor and building materials, with us providing all other materials. Even though Carlos was not going to get a percentage of the cost of the granite, tiles, hardware, lighting, etc., he still went with us to each and every vendor to help us make our selections and give us his contractor's discount. This is above and beyond what any contractor we contacted would offer. Other contractors would provide the materials, but they would tack on a 15 to 20 percent 'service' fee. Before the remodel, we cleared out most of our furniture and belongings. However, we didn't clear out the master closet completely, thinking we could take care of it over the weekend. Carlos' wife stepped up, went above and beyond, and called to ask if she could bag up our clothes for us. I'm sure this took hours because she bagged all of our clothes, leaving them on their hangers, and stacked them neatly in the garage so we could remove them over the weekend. That was a very sweet and generous task that she did not charge us for, and it is very much appreciated. Everything turned out beautiful, and we couldn't be happier. Daniel's craftsmanship is superior. Our new baseboards and crown molding are flawless. The fireplace was completely refaced: new tile, new mantle. It is a beautiful, new statement piece in our home. Daniel removed the shower in our master bathroom and gave us a new custom tiled shower, complete with a glass tile "waterfall" affect, rain showerhead, separate hand-held showerhead, and glass tile niches with granite shelves. Granite was installed on both vanities, and in the window sill. Both mirrors were framed with mirror-mate, making them custom too. The same granite was also installed in our hall bath, along with mirror-mate framing the mirror. Both baths received new tile flooring, commodes, sinks, faucets, etc. There was nothing untouched. The kitchen was completely remodeled with the exception of our existing cherry wood cabinets. Our existing peninsula with a raised bar was replaced with a larger peninsula that is all one level. The peninsula and all countertops are granite. Daniel and his crew installed new baseboards throughout, and crown molding in the front entry, master bedroom, kitchen and living room. This was very tedious work because our ceilings go from 8' along the outside to 10' in the center, so a lot of cuts and angles had to be made. Daniel also closed in a living area at the front of our home and made a new home-office for me. The French doors are an awesome touch. My existing office was turned into a bedroom, so he had to build a closet. Our two back bedrooms were converted into a media room by removing the wall that was between them along with both closets. A structural engineer had to be called in to design the supporting beam structure, and that was an extra cost. Because of where the beam had to be installed in the attic and the roofline, the ceiling in the media room had to be lowered to 8' throughout. The painter, Habrahan, was very patient with us on choosing our paint, and changing our minds a couple of times on the color for the master bedroom and master bathroom. Who knew that choosing paint color was one of the most difficult tasks! The cut-in on the paint between the walls and ceiling, etc., is impeccable. All caulking is straight and seamless. I've spent hours caulking in the past, so I know how difficult this is! Habrahan's work could compete with any company who specializes in only painting. Every lighting fixture in our home was replaced, along with most of the light switches. The electrician's name is also Carlos, so this paragraph pertains to Carlos "the electrician". Carlos did an outstanding job recommending what lights we should purchase (and NOT purchase). He installed LED can lights in every room, and dimmer switches in most rooms. He moved the ceiling fan from the master bedroom to the living room and installed a new ceiling fan in the master bedroom. Every light fixture in the home was replaced. He also installed LED lighting under the kitchen cabinets. What a beautiful affect! Carlos had to move a lot of electrical wiring for all the walls that were taken down and put up. I went to check on the status of the job every day, and Carlos was always the last one to leave. When the job was coming to an end, Carlos brought in another electrician and an electrician's helper to ensure he could complete the job on time. Most of the work that Carlos did was behind the walls and unseen, so when I would tell Daniel and his crew how beautiful something turned out, Carlos would joke and say, "what about my work?" I was very happy when the new light fixtures went in at the end of the job so I could tell him how beautiful his work was! Simon did a fantastic job installing my beautiful new engineered hardwood floors. They are the first thing people notice when they walk in the house. The angles he used are very custom. They are straight in the entry, follow the angles of the hallway, and then straighten again when going into the kitchen and living area. It's hard to describe, but the affect is stunning. Deep pile carpet was installed in the bedrooms, and a patterned carpet was installed in the media room. You can't see the seams in the media room, even with the pattern. Carlos and all of his crew are very friendly and easy to work with. I enjoyed getting to know them all and visiting with them daily. I appreciate all of the communication from Carlos and all of his crew's hard work and meticulous attention to detail on all of the crafts. My husband and I have personally recommended Carlos and his crew whenever we meet someone who is looking for a renovation to their home. We would not hesitate to hire him again in the future.
Description of Work: Complete home remodel. Every inch of our house was updated. This includes the kitchen, both bathrooms, building an office, building a media room, hardwood flooring throughout with the exception of carpet in bedrooms, tile in laundry and bathrooms. It also includes lighting, plumbing, new baseboards, crown molding, and new hardware on all of our doors.

Carlos Castro and his crews are always on time. They were delayed one day, but they let us know well in advance. The project began and was finished on time and at the price quoted. The cleaned up beautifully; garage is far cleaner now than it has been in a long time. The work is great quality. I have used The Empire of Tile and Granite previously and had the same great experience with the company before. I will definitely use them in the future.

I purchased the tile and had it stored at the retailer for crew to pick up when they were ready to start the job. I had to contact Carlos (The Empire) a few times with some questions about the tile before the purchase and received prompt responses. When Carlos brought the tile to the house he explained that my tile selection would be heavy for the ceiling of the shower and he gave me my options so I went with matching my ceiling tile to my floor tile (mosaic). Crew was prompt and courteous. They took care to ask about the job and understand what I wanted. When they started the demo they checked for any leaks that would have to be fixed before they started the rebuild. They took care to keep construction mess at a minimum and cleaned up after themselves every day. They kept me informed about the process and schedule. I've had to call them back a couple of times about grouting on the shower floor around the drain and they explained what was happening. I used mosaic tile for the floor and it comes in smaller tiles attached to 12x12 squares of netting. Sometimes the netting pulls loose from the tile which doesn't allow the tile to grab and set in like it's supposed to. It's been several days now and it appears that the problem is fixed. They have been very prompt in answering my concerns and get right out to take care of them. My shower looks beautiful. Great people

He was very professional and very pleasant. He presented a bid for the job. and an approximate date he thought he could have someone come out. We decided to use another contractor with a lower bid and also because we got the impression that our job was too small for him. I believe he works only on large remodeling jobs. If I had a large job, I would definitely call him again for a bid.

Carlos was very friendly and honest about his pricing. He pointed out things to check with the city and HOA before any work is done so we don't end up doing more work in the end.
Description of Work: We asked for several estimates for a few jobs we wanted done. He did explain he was busy but would work us in for the following week and would call me 2 hours before coming out. By 615p on a Friday we still had not heard from him so we sent him a message. He called to say he was coming back from out of town and he could be there in 45 mins. The lack of communication and follow up needs to improve. He was able to get us 2 of the bids the following day and a week later we are still waiting on the other bids from him to come in. I understand being busy but if you are spread so thin you can't do what you promise, might be time to get more help or not say you can do bids at this time.

My wife and I are very happy with the work which was done. Aside from the work itself, we were very impressed by how helpful Carlos and his crew were throughout the process. To give a little bit of background, we moved into our house in the summer of 2014 and used The Empire of Tile and Granite for a major remodel of almost all of the rooms in January-February of 2015. That work is described in a previous review, but the short version is that we were very happy with it. Then, in March of 2015, a pipe sprung a leak in the slab beneath the kitchen cabinets, doing enough damage to require them to be replaced. This leak had nothing to do with the original remodeling (in fact the kitchen was one of the only rooms not altered significantly in the original remodel), but when we realized the extent of the damage I called Carlos right away. He texted me back that night and returned my call first thing the next morning, and had his project manager out at our house by noon to help us figure out how to move forward. Considering that The Empire of Tile and Granite is not an emergency restoration company or anything like that, it was pretty impressive to me that Carlos was able to get to my house so quickly. Talking through it with him allowed us to decide what to do quickly, which was great because to be honest my wife and I were pretty stressed by the whole situation (she is pregnant and we'd just spent a bunch of money on the first remodel). After the insurance adjuster finally made it out to the house, Carlos' crew tore out the old kitchen and then he worked with us to choose new cabinets. He and his project manager then helped us through a number of other smaller issues, for example modifying the existing decorative ceiling beams to match the new cabinets. Once the new cabinets were ready, Carlos' crew installed them, then installed new granite, and then modified the existing back-splash to fit with the new layout. Carlos and his crew also did an excellent job of overcoming the few little hurdles that came up along the way. We are very happy with our new kitchen, and we would recommend The Empire of Tile and Granite to anyone.
Description of Work: Our kitchen was badly damaged by a plumbing leak in the slab beneath the cabinets. Since the cabinets were quite old anyway, we decided to have the entire kitchen redone. Carlos and his crew removed the old cabinets and counters and installed new ones. They also fixed up the rest of the kitchen to match the new cabinets and did a few other small building projects which needed doing at our house.

Two men from Empire arrived on time and were very courteous. They quickly reviewed the problem, concluded there was only one panel that needed to be replaced (the others just needed some caulk and paint) and then they headed off to Home Depot for supplies. They returned to replace the panel and caulk the other areas. Since they were running low on time (deal was for 4 hours of labor), they left the painting for me (as instructed). The only (minor) complaint I have is that after the service was complete, I asked the contractor to take a look at our bathroom to give a quote on replacing the tile. He said he'd talk with his boss and get back to me on the quote, but never replied. Still, for the service purchased, they did a great job.

From the reviews of The Empire of Tile and Granite, I was prepared to be satisfied with the work, and was pleased that my expectations were met. As much as one could say it of a construction project, this was a pleasant experience. Carlos (owner) begins with a mutually-signed contract stating the scope of the work and the exact price of the work contracted. I supplied all material, except construction materials, which were included in the contract. Deposit is 1/2 contract amount, 1/4 paid at the halfway point, and the final 1/4 paid at the end "when you are completely satisfied." (The work in the other bath was included in the original contracted price.) When I identified the inevitable "extras" as we went along, I considered the charges for the extra work to be reasonable. One factor of the extra work was the identification of a plumbing issue that went back to the building of the house. It was remedied with less hassle or expense than I anticipated. Carlos keeps tabs on all jobs they are involved in, and monitors both progress and quality of the work. They started about the time we anticipated (weather permitting!), arrived punctually each morning, worked a full day each day, and completed the job within the time estimated. Carlos and all of his employees are pleasant, patient, and professional. They are respectful of the working environment during the project and clean up when it is concluded. All of those involved gave the impression of wanting to please the client and produce some quality work. I would not hesitate to use them again for any of the considerable list of services they provide and to recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Bathroom Remodel---Removed old bath tub, tile, toilet, vanity, wallpaper; installed new shower pan, tile, textured sheet rock, painted sheetrock and wood trim, repaired tile floor, installed new vanity, basin, and toilet, added canister light over shower. In addition there was some sheet rock patch and paint in other parts of the house, and completed tile wainscot from a previous remodel in another bathroom.

We were very happy with The Empire of Tile and Granite throughout the process. We had worked with contractors at previous homes in the past, and our experience with Carlos was far better than we'd had with any previous contractor. A number of aspects stood out: - Carlos remained in communication with us throughout the process. We could call or text him (including on evenings or weekends) and expect to receive a response quickly, often within minutes. - Everyone who worked on our house was someone I felt I could trust. All of them were polite and skilled at their work. Carlos was personally present for a good deal of the work, and when he wasn't around there was always someone else (either one of his sons, his wife, or the project manager, and often some combination of those) who could answer questions and address any concerns we had. As mentioned before, Carlos himself was also always only a text or call away. - My wife and I felt that Carlos struck an excellent balance between providing advice about current styles and his honest opinion on our design choices while also letting us reach our own decisions about the way we wanted the house to look. - Carlos and his crews had no problem ensuring that even the smallest issues were addressed. I tend to be a little obsessive, so this was very important to me. - We were given an honest cost estimate before we signed a contract, and the only increases in cost during the process resulted from additional work outside the scope of the original contract which was performed at our request. - We were given complete freedom to choose our own materials, with Carlos providing any help we requested during this process. Carlos and his team transported all of the materials to the house for us and also assisted us in returning unused materials after the job was completed. Finally, and probably most importantly, we are very happy with the completed project.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of our 3,000 square foot home. - Removal of popcorn texture from all ceilings, followed by new texture and paint. - New flooring (carpet in some rooms, tile in others) in every room but the kitchen and utility room. - Removal of wooden paneling from the walls of two rooms along with accompanying wall repairs, floating, texture, etc. - Painting of walls in every room but the utility room. - Complete remodel of three bathrooms, including major structural changes in the master bathroom and new tile, vanities, plumbing work, etc. in all three. - Assorted other minor improvements (changing out electrical sockets, replacing outdated ceiling fans, etc.).

I purchased this deal several months ago. The company representative/project manager (Carlos) came to my home and examined what had to be done. He advised in detail what the "big deal" consisted of and what additional costs could be involved. He was upfront about everything. He took measurements and suggested we meet at Floor & Decor In Grand Prairie to find acceptable tile. I was advised we had a $350 tile allowance and that we needed approximately 115 SF of tile. We were told that we were 4th in line and that the job would likely be done in December. We met a couple of times to Floor & Decor and finally selected the tile and stone flooring. We decided not to have the work done during December and ultimately came to agreement to do the work in February which led to March because of the weather. The delays were understandable. I purchased the tile and stone flooring. It was well over the $350 limit, but well worth the additional expenditure. The work commenced March 10th and was completed March 16th. The tilers (Daniel & his son) did an outstanding job. They were meticulous in everything they did; e.g. they protected our flooring, cleaned up after themselves and carefully measured each and every tile cut. The work work also necessitated replacement of the shower pan and some structural work, which they accomplished in a timely professional manner. Their work is beautiful. My wife and I are very satisfied. The only work that remains is to have a glass contractor come-in to finish the inclosure and I've solicited proposals for the work. The Empire of Tile and Granite Co. did an excellent job. The project manager is an experienced professional that knows what he's doing and is upfront about everything. His workman are polite, hardworking artisans. I will use them again and have recommended them to my friends and neighbors.
Description of Work: Renovated my master bath shower by tearing out the old tile & shower pan and installing new.

Response from Empire General Contracting of Texas, LLC
Carlos Castro, the owner of The Empire of Tile and Granite, and his crew were absolutely great. The quality of work was superior, and there was no detail too small for them to take notice of and replace/repair correctly. Rehab work is always messy, noisy and dirty, but Carlos' crew did everything possible to minimize the effects of the work, including being careful of our cats!! They literally did everything from the studs outward. They raised the bathroom ceiling, removed the bathtub, retiled it into a shower with a decorative trim, tiled the floor, installed vanities, cabinets, faucets, lighting, mirrors, a new toilet, a new door and new baseboard trim. The tile we chose was very difficult and time consuming to work with because it was glass, but the crew just dug right in to get it installed. They handled the plumbing and electrical issues without a hitch. Carlos was very good and very thoughtful at providing suggestions about grout color, tile choices, etc. He helped us coordinate the entire look which we just love. Towards the end of the project, we decided to change grout color for the shower floor and, as it was a last minute change and completely unexpected, there wasn't enough grout left. It was a color that is not common, and we thought we would have to special order it and wait up to 2 weeks for delivery. Carlos found someone on the far side of Fort Worth who had it and drove over there to get it on one of the miserably icy days! Several work days were snowy and icy, but Carlos always let us know if they couldn't get there, and they still finished the entire project on time. They showed up on time every day and left before we got home which was just what we wanted. Carlos was there every day to tell us what had been accomplished the day before and what he wanted to accomplish today. It made the process easier to live with, knowing what was supposed to be done on a daily basis and seeing the project progress on a daily basis. The clean up as they left after the work was completed was just great. We are so happy with our experience with Carlos and his crew. We have purchased a Big Deal for a kitchen remodel. We can't say we don't dread being without a functioning kitchen for several weeks, but, now that I have seen Carlos' work, I feel much better about what the finished product will be. And we are reassured to know that Carlos will be there to help us every step of the way. This guy and his crew are the real deal!!
Description of Work: We had the master bath completely gutted and redone. We purchased a Big Deal from The Empire of Tile and Granite. We weren't able to begin the project within the time frame, but the owner, Carlos Castro, was so pleasant and we worked out a start date that suited us both. We told him up front that we wanted to purchase our own materials and have him provide the labor. And we knew, going in, that we wanted a lot more work than as standard bath remodel in a much larger bathroom than was standard. He priced the labor for us and we were happy with the deal.
