YET ANOTHER SCAMMER. Sheri showed up at my home on a Sunday afternoon as I was outside spraying for insects. She told me she drove by and noticed I needed some trimming. I asked Sheri to walk around my property and give me a quote for what it would cost. She told me that some of the trees along the back side of my property had low hanging limbs and should be trimmed, and my shrubs and trees in the front needed trimming. We agreed on $250 and shook hands. She then asked if she could get started that day for which I gave her permission. I left when she started working to run errands and when I returned she was gone. She had trimmed several trees and had the branches laying all over my yard. She hadn't done anything to the shrubs. I spoke to my wife who told me that Sheri had knocked on the door to let her know she would be back within the next two days to finish and wanted to know if she could get paid. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE. She paid her. Labor day was approaching and it had been two weeks and still no word from Sheri. I called her on Friday September 2. I explained I was having company over on Monday and that I needed my shrubs trimmed and the tree limbs scattered across my yard picked up as agreed. She told me they had been swamped and hadn't had a chance to come back to finish. At this point I was still trying to believe she was being truthful and maybe she didn't intentionally take my money and run. I was firm, but told her if she would come back and finish on Saturday September 3rd in the morning (two weeks from our first encounter and payment) I would still be happy. She said it wouldn't be a problem. Big surprise, Saturday came and she didn't show up. My guests got to see all the tree limbs and mess that she left in my front yard. I took the time and dragged what I could behind my shop. I gave myself a week to cool down half expecting her to come out and take care of it and apologize to me. I wouldn't have been happy, but I wouldn't have written anything bad about them if they did that. I understand people make mistakes and I still could have forgiven, I think. The week went by and still no call and the limbs had all killed the grass in my yard that was below them. My patience was wearing thin so I decided to escalate this to the boss. I called Jerry Womack and he answered the phone. I explained who I was and what had happened. He didn't apologize to me at all. He simply said that "they hand been swamped" but he was aware of it and that he would send a crew out tomorrow. He said he was on a job and busy so he couldn't take down my address, but Sheri knew where it was at and he would send her tomorrow with a trailer and some help. He then asked me if I had already paid. THAT THREW UP A RED FLAG IN MY MIND but I still was willing to just get the work completed and be done with it. I thought to myself, "if they were so swamped why was she driving around on Sundays looking for work?" "how can they be too swamped for a paying customer?" Big surprise, Tuesday came and went and the work remained incomplete. Not a phone call to explain, apologize, reschedule or anything else. Friday rolls around and I called Jerry Womack again and explained who I was again. He said yes he remembered me and he had sent a crew out an hour and a half ago to finish. LIE. I asked him if he remembered telling me earlier in the week that a crew would be out. He didn't honor his word on Tuesday why would I expect him to be truthful today? The man hung up the phone on me. I have paid this person to do work for me. The work hasn't been complete. I am having to hound him to finish. He has never apologized only made excuses. There is no excuse for taking someone's money and not doing the job you promised. I shook Sheri's hand and she accepted payment for work she hadn't completed. This man was her employer and he hung up the phone on me. Cowards hang up phones and won't call you back. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS. They are apparently too busy to take on any more because they can't even come back and finish work they have been paid for. In any case they have been nothing but dishonest to me and cost me well over $250 of time and frustration. I have a pole saw and shrub trimmer. I could have already done everything she promised me in the time that it took me to review them and still have had my money. I've given them every chance and more so than they deserve to make it right with me and they have repeatedly broken their word.
Description of Work: I hired them to trim trees and shrubs on the property and haul away when finished.
