15+ employees. Most work is done by us, though we do use some subs (electrical, plumbing, etc). Free estimates and HOA approval processing are included! Top quality for a fair price, call us today! Formerly: Sullivent Services
Everything really went great from the beginning to the end with a small issue at the end which they did outstanding resolving, truly they are focused on customer satisfaction even with things they can not control. Tom came out multiple times to do the initial quote along with change a few things I wanted as we went through initial proposal process. Tom is awesome when it comes to going over the options that meet your needs for your project and budget along with being up front on things at the beginning rather than in the middle or at the end so your not caught off guard with your project. The wait to have the work done was not long especially since we were not in a hurry to have the patio done. Carlos and Martin (Business Owner) came out along with the crew the first day to lay everything out and get the patio just right which I though was great. Once again Carlos and Martin were very thorough with explanation throughout the process and what the expect when they were completed, crossed all T's and dotted all I's for sure which is what I like about these guys. They crew had everything set in a day and poured the concrete a few days later which looked fantastic and super high quality when it was done! I couldn't afford to have the patio sealed by them since I was way over my budget which they gave me advice and help to do it myself which I greatly appreciated to help protect my investment for years to come. After what I saw I wish I could have had them do it instead of myself because I am sure my quality work was no where near as good as what they would have done. We did run into a small hiccup a few weeks after the patio was complete which were problems with the future sleeve (pipe for wiring to electrical panel) and a small imperfection where some clay/dirt mixed with the concrete and caused a quarter size hole on the surface which is something they could not control or know until the patio was dry. Also the cover to my home plumbing clean out needed to be secured which took a few times to correct but problem was eventually solved. Tom and Martin personally called to follow up after I let them know about the issues to make sure that they could ensure everything was perfect which it is now. They went above and beyond in my opinion to do an amazing job from the start of the project until the end even with the few small problems that happened to make sure I was happy with everything! I will definitely use them again when I am ready to get my front entry way completed with pavers. AWESOME BUSINESS, USE THEM IF YOU WANT AN AMAZING WORK DONE AT YOUR HOME!!!

This company was the best I've ever worked with. They were prompt and on time and very organized I might add.. They cleaned up every day. Made the whole experience easy and stress free. I think the construction is top notch and they have an eye for perfection. I would highly recommend them to anyone. It ended up being a little more than I expected but for the quality, it was worth every cent in my opinion.

A little slow on the start up. Weather was part of the problem Some communication issues. Be sure to be specific and check all the measurements. For me, it was a custom BBQ that I had to intercede with modifications to pergola dimensions to fit. An assumption on their part forced another modification that increased the price of the project. T Sullivent does take pride in their work. There was a little drama but the finished product was well done

I gave my down payment on January 29. Keep in mind we had rain and freezing weather, so it was impossible to pour the concrete until warmer weather prevailed. I'm so pleased with the results. I had different paver and concrete levels, and it was a hazard to walk around the house. I also had an odd open dirt area directly under the house where an outcropping occurs. The area was often damp and full of bugs and fire ants. I had the concrete carried under the outcropping up to the weep holes. Instead of a large step down out the back door, it's now a pleasant height. My yard has a drainage problem when it rains, and my backyard becomes a marsh. Drainage pipes were put underneath the cement walkway, so this issue can be addressed at a later date without tearing up the cement. I like and appreciate the detailed questions they asked me about my project, what I wanted and expected. The back patio slab slope had to be adjusted in order to make the project work. Ideally they wanted more of a slope, but it would not work with the current parameters of my yard. I payed some of the outstanding balance with a credit card, so a 3% fee was added onto my bill. I had more done than I originally intended, so the cost was more, but I have no regrets.
Description of Work: Concrete patio slab in the front and a small attached walkway, with a colored overlay. Had a 4' sidewalk built along the side, and another 4' sidewalk about 50' along the back of the house, and a large raised attached back patio slab with concrete footings, so I can have a pergola attached at a later date. Drainage pipes were also installed at three places underneath the sidewalks and capped off, so a drainage system can be installed at a later time. They also installed two pop up drains; one in the backyard, and one in the front yard. With the front patio, the gutter drained by the front of the house in front of the walkway. They ran the pipe underneath the concrete so it drains into the front yard now.

Tom was great in helping us decide what we wanted and how to achieve it while staying in budget! It was over the holiday and winter, so we did run into some delays, but they made sure to keep us up to date. We had a problem with our refrigerator that was installed, so they replaced it free of charge! Good craftsmanship and high quality appliances.

They came in for the estimate, and gave us a written estimate. When the deposit was given, they took care of submitting through our HOA. Once it was approved, they set a date. Since it was a 'small job', it was easy to schedule. They were on time, very organized, and did a clean job. They even asked us about some last minute changes. The only issue we had was that the concrete took forever to arrive, but this was not Sullivent's fault. When concrete trucks leave, they have to go from largest to smallest jobs, and even then they have a time limit to deliver fresh concrete. In the end, we are very pleased with this company and would not hesitate to contact them for any future projects. They are honest and very professional.

We were satisfied with the deck and patio. The owner was very knowledgeable and made sure that the workers delivered quality work. The only caveat was that it took much longer to build than expected (2.5 months vs. 3 weeks) since the crew was tied up with other jobs at the time and this was not communicated upfront.

Update-- there have been a couple of small issues, mainly "wouldn't it be nice" type adjustments and Martin has agreed to make these adjustments at cost. Standing behind his work is an excellent feature of this company. We look forward to continue to work with him. Also-- be very careful what stain you select and understand what works best on the deck floor-- the one we picked (and we were warned that other customers didn't like it) shows dog prints and dirt-- but on the upper portion it is a perfect color. So a "do" would be -- carefully select your stain color and understand the pros and cons of each color. Ours is great on the posts and benches-- not so good on the flooring. The B on the price is because these structures are very expensive-- an A probably should be given because they use quality materials and the quality of the employees' skills.
Description of Work: Martin and his crew are exceptional; the craftsmanship of both our fire pit and our pergola is top notch. We did have some delays due to weather and one or two times when communication could have been better but for the most part everything went smoothly and changes were made with little fuss. We spent more than we intended to do but we got exactly what we wanted and I'm sure if we had needed to reduce the budget they would have been happy to work with us. We would definitely use them again-- excellent service and a high standard of professionalism.

I called several different companies about my plan for this project. Several said they could do it but never actually followed thru with any plans or official quotes. One company that I spoke to asked that I pay for a survey and send it to him then he would draw up the plans on his CAD software for $400. He wouldn't even come out to actually meet me the client and take the measurements himself. Essentially I would spend $600 ($200 for the survey & $400 for his fee to draw up the plans). Of course I declined. I checked Angie's List for a final time on this project and found Sullivent Services. It seemed like this was a Sullivent specialty so I thought I would give them a shot and then most likely abandoned the project. I called the phone number and spoke to Tom Ruddell and explained what I wanted. He met with me the next day and spent two hours discussing the possibilities of my request, took measurements and discussed the expectations. Within a few days Tom met with me again with a CAD drawing of exactly what I wanted for free. What a nice surprise that Sullivent Services offered this service without a charge. I was feeling a 180 degree turn around about my project. I signed the contract that day and paid $1,000 down and we agreed to have an engineer stamp the plans. This was the busiest time to request a project like this so it was a few weeks to get the engineer stamp and then fall into the work queue. The wait seemed long but the reviews I read stated the craftsmanship was worth the wait. Once Sullivent starts your job, the same crew shows up every day and works all day until the project is completed. Once the project started, Martin Sullivent walked me through all of the expectations and we were in contact at least every other day. I had a couple of change requests when the project began and making those adjustments was no problem for Martin or the crew. The crew showed up on a Wednesday to put the posts in. They even worked on Saturday which was no problem for us since we were excited to get the deck completed. They finished up the following Thursday. 8 days total from start to completion. My wife & I are 100% satisfied with our new deck and will be planning to use Sullivent Services in the future for an outdoor kitchen and water feature. The quality craftsmanship can't be beat. One crew shows up every day for the entire project and that crew cleans up the site at the end of every day. I would highly recommend Sullivent Services. I have already confidently referred a friend of mine that wants something similar to what was done for me.
Description of Work: Built an upper level deck to connect to a newly cut door entering the upstairs master bedroom.
First, let me say this--there is a reason that Sullivent Services has such high marks on Angie's List. The many positive examples of that feedback from Angie's List members are accurate. We wanted to have a deck redone the RIGHT way. We spoke to a number of companies, and received bids from most. There was quite a wide range-from roughly $9K to up to $16K+. To be honest, the highest bid that we received was from Sullivent (and then we added a fire pit on top of that). But from the moment the estimator came out, you can tell that you are working with a company that knows exactly what they are doing. If you want a crappy, cheap deck, you don't want to use this company. If you want a deck that not only will you enjoy and be proud of, but that also increases the value of your home (along with an incredible wow factor), you want to use Sullivent Services. They take their time and do it the right way-in every way. The detail is truly amazing (including the pattern the wood was laid down in, ALL edges were rounded/no points or angles, the lip/edge of the deck, the stonework, etc). After the initial visit, they come back with a CAD drawing of what they will be able to build--after they have consulted with you on what exactly it is that you want. Our deck looks like exactly what they proposed, short of a few minor changes (that we were consulted with and agreed on). Martin (the owner) gets involved early on, and constantly came by to check the various crews and the work that they were doing. He even saw a few details that he thought his guys could have done better, and had them re-do it, without me even asking. Martin is very good about keeping the customer involved in every aspect. And as with any project of this scope, there were a couple of hiccups, but they were always handled very well by Martin-and you certainly don't get that with every company in the construction industry. Every crew that came over (destruction, construction, stone, lighting) was always very professional and courteous-and always cleaned up afterwards. They were even great about tolerating my two young daughters going out to tell them their latest story about dolls throughout the process. The crews showed up on time, and worked their rear ends off. Our finished product is absolutely amazing. Thank you Martin and team!! Simply put--"You get what you pay for" couldn't be more true than in the case of a deck. If you use anybody other than Sullivent Services to have this kind of work done, you are not getting the best solution.
Description of Work: Tore out 10+ year old wood deck (including all support 4x4's) and two other stone and concrete areas to have a large deck rebuilt from scratch, in addition to putting in a drainage system under the deck and having a stone fire pit (with rope lights) added.

Everything went very well after the weather delays. The patio and sidewalk looks great. The foreman even came back and put down boards under the drip line to ensure there was no damage from a thunderstorm moving through north of me the evening the concrete was poured. The crew was very good and knew what they were doing. Everyone was professional and courteous. Martin, the owner called me a couple weeks later to make sure I was pleased and then had his office staff call me a few days later to take the final payment over the phone. It made it very easy and convenient.

Prior to purchasing the $1499 Big Deal for a stamped concrete patio, I emailed the company to get an estimate if I wanted something a little larger. The estimate based on the larger size was approximately $2691 (and around my $2500 budget). I was not advised of and subsequently unaware of any potential additional costs, and purchased the Big Deal based on the information I was given. After reviewing the area where the patio would be constructed, the company provided a new price range of $4200-$4800, which included a slightly larger patio, removal of part of my sidewalk (keeping the sidewalk was not an option per the company), with the majority of the new costs for soil. I would have refrained from purchasing the Big Deal had I known that there could be such large additional costs (I'd never installed a patio before and was unaware of the potential for these costs). Although the rep was friendly and professional, and offered to look into ways to lower costs through doing a smaller size and a different type of patio, I decided not to proceed with the job.
Purchased Angie's List Deal, but ended up spending considerably more than I had intended to. However, the end result is beautiful. Also had flagstone on the front of home acid washed and sealed.

The concrete was watered for 7 days to help reduce cracking. I have seen no cracks and I am very happy with the job that was done. I expect it to last many years. Martin has a great crew that were professional at all times.
Description of Work: prepared area for installation of concrete to a 300 sq ft area. installed forms with separators and installed a 4 inch slab of concrete. Area was tamped and 2 ft holes were drilled every 24 inches in the perimeter areas to form posts in ground to Support the concrete slab(that was something that makes perfect sense but had never seen before.) They also used 1/4" re-bar in 24 inch sections throughout the slab. All of the employees and Martin used checklists and supervised the whole process except for the cleanup. The cleanup was performed to my satisfaction and I requested to use the discarded lumber for one of my projects.

Builder was not clear on completion date and mentioned that other customers pay $500 just to be placed ahead of other projects which I don't think is fair to the folks like us with smaller budget of $5,000 to $6,000. On top of what's paid in Angie's List already, they also collected $500 upon contract signing without giving an estimated completion date. Sales manager tried contacting us but my husband and I decided to cancel the contract, as per Texas law we have 3 business days to cancel. The way they do business just does not work for us.

Response from The Deck and Patio Company, LLC
Thank you for your feedback, it really helps us to improve ourselves. As an experienced builder we know that timelines are a concern for many customers and our goal is to under promise and over deliver in all aspects of our business. We do estimate completion dates for our customers but since all of our work is outside, and therefore susceptible to weather, we are purposefully vague and pessimistic about completion dates. We treat all potential customers, whether we do work for them or not, the same and do not view $5000.00 as a small amount of money. In this case there was definitely a misunderstanding between you and our representative with regard to the $500 to be placed ahead in line. This is an option that we have offered to a small number of customers (no one has taken the option in recent memory) as a win-win situation as the $500 would go to the customers who are getting bumped, only if they accept the offer. In this deal we are only an intermediary between the customer who is in a hurry and the one who has the option to wait. Finally with regard to the collection of the $500 upon contract signing we are under the understanding that the fine print of the big deal states that the amount paid to Angie's List is to be applied to the final payment and so we were just following the rules as we understand them. We do appreciate all of our customers feedback and do everything we can to get 100% satisfaction, so thanks again and good luck on your project.

We are thinking of building an backyard pergola and patio, so when we saw the Big Deal for $79 for the design and drawings of a pergola, we jumped at the chance to purchase it. Tom was very professional and interpreted all of our ideas quite well on the design. At the moment we are still debating on what we want to do exactly, so we have not decided on a General Contractor just yet for the construction. Based on the materials they use and their professionalism, I could definitely see us going with Sullivent Services if/when we decide to build.

They were really good. He probably did the best job of anybody in explaining what they are going to do. He gave me a detailed plan as far as what my patio was going to look like. He gave me options for different patio sizes and what it would cost. He used a computer autoCAD system, so it was really much more professional than any other people. I had quotes as high as $3500 and as low as $1500, so he wasn't the cheapest and also not the most expensive. Their salespeople's professionalism was why I chose them. Martin is the owner and he came out and supervised when they actually poured the patio. They did a really good job and it turned out really well.
