Village Green

I'm guessing at the service date above. I did have to play telephone tag with the owner to schedule. Partly my fault as I have a day job that does not allow me to make or receive personal phone calls so I could only call after 4pm. They did come and aerate as promised. Their aeration was fine. They came on the day they said they would. Two problems: they insisted someone mark where the lawn sprinkler heads were ahead of time;a problem since I was out of town. I had to hire my dog sitter to go over and do it. Also, the Big Deal says in the fine print they charge more for lawns over 6000sq feet. Now, I mow and fertilize my own lawn and have carefully measured it. They tried to insist it was over 6000sq ft so they could charge more. I know it isn't that large. I did prevail and they did the job at the "Big Deal" price. just a warning, measure yours first: don't depend on their estimate. I would use them again. I just need to make sure I'm home to mark the sprinklers!

Two guys showed up on time, checked the entire sprinkler system zone by zone, every sprinkler head, as I walked around with them. They also showed me how to use the controller since I had recently moved in and never had a sprinkler system before. They were very professional and I'd definitely use them again.

The work done was to our total satisfaction.

Worked great, plan to use them all year.

Soon after I purchased the deal, I was contacted by the company to schedule a date/time. I was originally scheduled within 10 days, which at first seemed too long, but I realized they would be busy this time of year since this was a fairly good "Big Deal". However, close to the scheduled date, I was informed that there had been an address mix-up and they would not be out until several more days later. Eventually, the serviceman came out on time on the rescheduled date and proceeded to aerate the lawn in quick time.

The guy was nice enough. It was a Friday afternoon and he was really ready to go home. He did okay and was nice, but they didn’t do a whole lot. My system is higher-grade, and has many functions. It’s a bit complicated so it’s harder to understand. He tried to explain a few things to me, but I don’t really feel that I got too much out of the deal.

They did a great job. They came in and did what they were supposed to do.

Called to have someone inspect leak in irrigation system. Was told during initial call that someone would call me that day to schedule a service time. 2 days and 2 phone calls by me until I was actually contacted back. When I was called back, I was told $105 per hour for work and no time available until 1 week from now. Seems expensive and not too responsive. Expected better based on previous reviews.

Village Green did an excellent job. The crew was very professional. They always made sure everything was cleaned up and neat before leaving for the day. In most cases it was even neater than the way they found it!! Ken (the owner) always answered my emails quickly and never seemed to tire of my endless questions. He came by to check on the job in order to ensure that it was being completed according to the plans and to his specifications. I couldn't be happier with the results. I will definitely use this company again!!

First of all I have been a customer of Village Green for my sprinkler system for the past 2 years, I called them up on April 12th and they returned my call later that evening. I explained the problem that I was having and they said he would follow up later that week. I have not heard or seen anything to indicate that they even showed up or a returned call saying if they were delayed. I can assure you that they also lost me as a customer on the sprinkler system. UPDATE: 4/23/2013 . How can a company say that they do" lawn evaluations on current fertilization customers". So how do you become a customer in the first place without an evaluation. It does not make sense. Also I was informed by another company that it was grubs that did the damaged not the herbicide that he mentioned.

We initially had a brief scheduling miscommunication but they were very quick to respond to a phone call/voicemail and this was ironed out easily. The work was performed on time. I thought the aeration would have been slightly deeper but maybe my memory of this is somewhat off since it's been years since I'd had it done. Overall, I have no complaints and would use this company's services again.

Village Green proactively contacted me to schedule service shortly after I purchased the Angie's List "Big Deal". They were very professional, arrived on time, and aerated the lawn, careful to miss the marked sprinkler heads. All communication was professional and they did a good job on the aeration.

Very professional and completely covered my lot for the two types of grass I have - using appropriate chemicals for each. Very nice and I highly recommend them. Showed up for second application as planned and did a great job. We discussed a certain type of weed that was coming up and he told me he saw that and was treating them.

Very prompt, courteous and friendly service. Adjusted all sprinkler heads for maximizing coverage and minimizing water waste. Did not suggest unnecessary improvements. Overall, very satisfied with their performance. Will definitely hire them back and recommend to others. Thank you.

I bought a deal on Angie's list to have Village Green come and aerate my lawn. I didn't even have to contact them to setup an appointment, which was great! They sent me an email and told me the date they were coming out and reminded me to mark my sprinkler heads. I bought some flags from Home Depot, marked the sprinklers and they arrived on the date they said they would and aerated my lawn. They did an awesome job and it was probably the easiest service transaction I have ever had.

They have had the same owner that I have been using for years. Very fair with pricing, never let me down. They also do repairs to my sprinkler system. They are an all around good landscaping company. Very fair and dependable. If there is a problem they fix it immediately.

The lawn aeration went well, EXCEPT, they irrigated the incorrect property at first by mistake. Sadly they broke the soaker hose sprinkers in several places. They handled the situation very well. They took responsibility and corrected the sprinklers even though it took a couple visits to fix all the guisers that kept popping up. The aeration at the correct propert was done very well. The company was very friendly and and professional. A courtousy knock before the aeration began would have save a lot of greif.

As first time homeowners, we did not realize that we had to treat our lawn in late Fall last year, although we did treat the lawn in the spring, summer and early Fall with fertilizer and weed and feed. Come winter, we found so many broad leaf weeds in our lawn and were at a loss of what to do. We looked up Angie's list and saw Village Green offered lawn treatment. We have had an excellent experience with Village Green as far as sprinkler repair goes and decided go with them to help sort our weeds issue out. I tried contacting them in the last week of December and since it was holiday season, there was a message that they would be operating only from the beginning of January. I left a couple of messages while they were closed regarding wanting to schedule a weed treatment. I did not get a response from them regarding this and attributed it to perhaps an inaudible voice mail or perhaps my message got missed in the many messages they got through the voice mail. I called them back after they were open for business in the first week of January. I spoke to Ken and told him we had a serious weed issue and asked him what the solution was. He mentioned that I was seeing these issues due to my lawn not having been treated in the Fall. Ken mentioned that they would come down and treat the lawn when they were in the area. I asked for an email that explained what treatment would be done so that I could understand that and send it to my husband. Ken agreed to send the email, but I never got it. I left it at that. I guess due to the weather they had to postpone their coming out for a treatment. They came out on the 17th of January to treat the lawn. I asked Ken if he could come and take a look at my lawn because it had a lot of weeds and he came down the next day itself. That was nice of him. He mentioned that they will treat the lawn with a post emergent and pre-emergent and we should begin to see an improvement in the weeds in a week or two. I was also asked to mow the lawn. We waited but did not see improvement. A few of the weeds were withering away but 99% stayed put. At one point of time, we decided to pull out some of the weeds ourselves and clear out at least the front part of the yard. We thought that it needed time and did not contact Village Green. I also got the lawn mowed. The second treatment was done on the 29th March 2013, and we still had the same amount of broad leaf weeds. I stayed home and saw the treatment being done. I did not see the weeds being targeted in particular and called Village Green to ask what could be done about the weeds. This time I spoke to Charlie who mentioned that because of the weather there has been a problem with the pre-emergent and post-emergent working and we should begin to see an improvement as the weather warms up. He asked me to call back in a couple of weeks if I did not see an improvement and they would come and do a weed treatment free of cost. I waited for a couple of weeks and emailed Ken mentioning that there was no improvement in the weeds from the beginning of the year. He told me that similar to vitamins, it would take time and as long as I follow the mowing and watering recommendation treatments we should see an improvement in time. He also offered to refund the cost for the two treatments if I was unhappy and wished to switch to another provider. I decided to give it time, primarily because of the excellent service we had from Village Green so far. Ken came down to take a look at the yard and told me that he was not happy with the amount of broad leaf weeds and they would try another treatment and with time the lawn would recover. They came back to treat the lawn on 11th April 2013 and did not charge me for the same. The lawn is mowed right now and lets see if there is an improvement in the broad leaf weeds. Overall I am happy with Village Green and hope that with time the lawn will recover. I appreciate that Ken came down to take a look at the yard both times when I mentioned my concerns. I had several assumptions in my mind - that it would take one treatment to get the weeds gone, that weeds would wither off after the application. I would have had a better understanding if all possible scenarios had been communicated, and perhaps some knowledge on exactly what these weeds were. It would have helped to have had more discussions on these. Update 6/11/2013: ----------- So three months later, we are finally rid of the broadleaf weeds. Village Green changed the treatment and our lawn recovered in April from the broad leaf weeds and the warmer weather helped too. There were several grassy weeds and crab grass too and they are working on that. Overall, looks like our yard is on the way to being weed free. They came back to do a weed spot treatment for the grassy weeds which is good. Update 3/18/2014 ---------- After more than a year, this winter our lawn was free of the weeds. I must say we are very happy with the treatment that Village Green did for our lawn. We recommend Village Green wholeheartedly. Update 12/8/2014 ---------- This year our lawn has been perfect throughout the year. We are really happy with Village Green and the treatment that has been done. The grass was lush and green in the Spring, Summer and Fall and just turned brown in winter. Our yard looks perfectly maintained. Good work Village Green!

We scheduled with Village Green, and they were prompt arriving and professional in their work.

It was great. It doesn't say in the fine print that they will schedule the appointment for when they are in your area. They came when they said they would.

Everything was done in a very professional manner and done very well.

They did the front and never came back to do the back. I've made 3 appointments and they've never shown up. I see Mr. Hyatt responded to my review, but we never heard anything from the company.

Very good. I was grateful for the deal and the price was right for the service.

Was concerned about the area where large tree used to be when I called to ask for service. They indicated that the could grass replacement, but that if I was amenable, that their recommendation would be for the lawn to be fertilized and maintained this year to see if the remaining grass would grow to cover. I took their recommendation (saving me money!) and thus far am pleased with the cost and service. They weren't able to come out as soon as I had hoped, but it was within a reasonable amount of time, and the timing was not of negative impact.
