Description of Work: Robert was excellent. A previous a/c guy told me I needed a new system. Robert did a thorough inspection, found a bad wire at compeessor, a reversed wire on my new thermostat (husnand installed) and we needed freon. $230.00 total, not 5K for a new unit. And the Total Air has been on business since 1957. Very happy homeowner!

Description of Work: I'm so thankful I obtained a second opinion from Total Air before purchasing a new system as A#1 Air suggested. I've been on A#1 Air's service plan for 2 or 3 years. Which by the way, they always found something to "fix" on my systems during the bi-annual inspections . Now I find out their service guys are on 100% commission. That makes sense. But the genesis of my complaint is during my annual summer maintenance check, A#1 Air says my compressor is bad, it's not worth fixing, and quoted me $10k to $13k for a new system. I call Ryan Clifford at Total Air really just to come out and quote me for a new system. Ryan is a sales guy but used to be a service tech. Ryan suggested he confirm my system is bad before walking me through a quote for a new system. Companies usually charged $75 to $99 for a second repair opinion. Ryan did it for free and found that the power to my a/c unit had been turned off. It turns out my compressor is perfectly fine. Now I'm not sure if A#1 Air purposely turned off my power as I had a landscaper doing some work earlier. But it's incompetence at best as a/c repair 101 says to confirm that there's power to the unit. I've promptly canceled my service plan with A#1 Air and look forward to signing up with Total Air. Description of Work: This was a air conditioner tune up special purchased through Angie's List. This was to include cleaning condenser coil. Tech said the coil was too dirty to clean in place and would need to be pulled out of the unit to be cleaned. If I had chosen to have this done, it would be an additional $938.00 with the coils pulled, cleaned, put back in and vaccum tested. I passed on this and contacted another HVAC company to come out and they were able to clean the coils in place and unit now runs fine.

Description of Work: The recent work they did for me was a check up on my two systems for the summer cooling season. The main thing I appreciate them for is the installation of a new AC system in the summer of 2013 when my compressor went out. They determined that the ducts and vents system for the old system were not properly designed. the return duct airflow capacity was way below shat it needed to be. That was corrected as part of the new system install. The ducts on our other system were modified to fix a similar problem. My AC monthly electrical dropped to below $200 per month. We have had these improvements for about 1.5 summers now and we have had only one monthly bill over $200 and that was for $202.??. |the only other change we made that might have affected the electrical bill was better attic venting.
