I used this company based solely on the fact that they seemed to have good reports here on Angie's List. However, I was not very impressed with the service. The first time, he spent the entire time in the attic. When he was done, he told me that I have a cracked inducer fan housing. Said this could cause the heater to short cycle and cause a buildup of carbon monoxide. He did not offer to take me back up there to show me this crack. I asked for an estimate on cost of repairs. Was told they would mail me one but he also wrote on the receipt that it would cost between $400-$500. I never received anything else in the mail and wouldn't order any repairs based on such a sketchy estimate. When I got ready to pay he quoted me $159. I had been quoted $89 on the phone so asked why it was more. He explained that this was the cost if I got their yearly package and it also paid for service to be done in the fall/winter on the heater. He also said that if I got the yearly package, it would save me 15% on the cost of repairs. So I paid the $159. Asked if they could finish the service on the A/C on a Saturday since I didn't want to take more time off from work. He said no problem, just call and schedule. I called to schedule and was told that to have them come back out to finish their job on a Saturday it would cost another $10. So, instead, I arranged for them to come out in two weeks when I knew I would have a day off again during the week. A different man came out to clean the outside unit and inspect that. When I walked around to watch what he was doing I asked to make sure he was going to clean it. He said sure. Wanted to know where the faucet was. When I told him he said that his hose might not be long enough. I went and connected my hose and ran it from the back yard to where the unit was. Got the feeling that if I hadn't, it would not have been done. When he was done he told me I was low on freon so he took care of that. It was less than a pound but they charge $36 for the freon. No problem with that. However, then he told me that the way these houses were built, I probably had a leak in the evaporator coils or something. Probably???? If so, where was the leak? He made no effort to "sniff out" the origin of the leak. And again, no idea what that would cost either. I have paid for service for the year, but after that will not use again. I will definitely be getting estimates from other companies before I get any "repairs" done. This company has lost its credibility with me.
Description of Work: Serviced the air conditioner. Took two trips because it was raining the first time and so they had to come back to do the outside unit. First trip, he serviced the unit in the attic. Second trip, checked freon levels, added freon and hosed the A/C unit down to clean it.

DEAR ANGIE'S LIST MEMBER-SORRY OUR SERVICE DID NOT MEET WITH YOUR EXPECTATIONS. IN REGARDS TO YOUR HEATER. THE BRAND YOU HAVE IS VERY WELL KNOWN FOR GETTING CRACKS IN THE INDUCER DRAFT MOTOR HOUSING. IN FACT VIRTUALLY 100% OF THEM FORM CRACKS IN THE INDUCER HOUSING AT THE AGE OF YOUR FURNACE. I WILL BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HAVE A TECHNICIAN COME TO YOUR HOME AT NO CHARGE AND IF FOR ANY REASON THE INDUCER DRAFT MOTOR IS NOT CRACKED, WE WILL REFUND THE ENTIRE COST OF YOUR SERVICE AGREEMENT. VERY FEW OF OUR CUSTOMERS ARE INTERESTED IN GETTING IN THE ATTIC TO LOOK AT BROKEN PARTS, BUT WE CAN ACTUALLY SHOW YOU THE CRACKS IN THE INDUCER HOUSING IF YOU WANT US TO. IN REGARDS TO THE COOLING TUNE UP, WE HAVE NOT FOUND A WAY TO CONTROL THE WEATHER. EVEN THOUGH WE HAD TO MAKE A RETURN TRIP AND TRUST ME FUEL IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND SO IS DRIVE TIME....WE DID NOT CHARGE YOU ANYTHING EXTRA. THE $10 FEE FOR SATURDAYS IS CLEARLY STATED ON OUR SERVICE AGREEMENTS, AND COVERS THE FACT THAT OUR TECHNICIANS ARE ALWAYS ON OVERTIME BY THEN END OF THE WEEK AND LIKE IT OR NOT WE HAVE TO COVER AT A SMALL PORTION OF LABOR COSTS. PLEASE LET ME BE CLEAR THAT IT IS VERY COMMON FOR US TO FIND SYSTEMS LOW ON FREON. WHAT IS NOT CLEAR MOST OF THE TIME IS WHY???? SINCE IT WAS OUR FIRST VISIT TO YOUR HOME AND WE ALWAYS OPERATE WITH INTEGRITY IN THIS REGARD, IT DID NOT MAKE SENSE TO DO A FREON LEAK CHECK WHEN THE SYSTEM WAS ONLY 1 LB LOW. IN MANY CASES THE SYSTEM HAS ALWAYS BEEN LOW SINCE INSTALLATION AND WE SIMPLY TOP OFF THE SYSTEM. THE "BRAND" OF COOLING COIL IN YOUR HOME IS ALSO KNOWN FOR HAVING REFRIGERANT LEAKS AND THE INTENT OF THE TECHNICIAN WAS TO MAKE YOU AWARE THAT "IF" YOUR SYSTEM HAS A LEAK IN THE FUTURE; THE COOLING COIL IS THE LIKELY AREA TO BEGIN TO LEAK SEARCH. VERY FEW CUSTOMERS WANT TO INVEST IN A LEAK SEARCH ON OUR FIRST COOLING SYSTEM VISIT WHEN THE SYSTEM IS ONLY 1 LB LOW. WE TRY TO SEND THE SAME TECHNICIAN BACK FOR YOUR TUNE UPS, BUT SOMETIMES THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE IF WE ARE GOING TO MEET OUR CUSTOMERS SCHEDULES. IN SUMMARY, I WILL SAY AGAIN I AM SORRY IF WE DID NOT MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS. BASED ON YOUR COMMENTS IT APPEARS WE WERE VERY THOROUGH AND MADE YOU AWARE OF ANY ISSUES YOU NEED TO BE WATCHING FOR. ACCORDING TO YOUR COMMENTS ABOVE: HOW DOES THE VALUE OF THE WORK COMPARE TO THE PRICE? I GOT EXACTLY WHAT I PAID FOR. I HAVE OFFERED AT NO COST TO YOU TO SHOW YOU WHERE THE CRACKS EXIST ON YOUR INDUCER DRAFT MOTOR HOUSING, AND WE CAN SHOW YOU WHERE IT IS CRACKED, OR WE WILL GIVE YOU A 100% REFUND ON YOUR SERVICE AGREEMENT, HOPEFULLY THAT WILL GIVE YOU THE "PROOF" YOU NEED. I HAVE EXPLAINED TO YOU WHY IT DID NOT MAKE SENSE TO TRY AND FIND A FREON LEAK THAT MAY OR MAY NOT EXIST. EVEN IF WE DO A LEAK SEARCH, MANY TIMES IT IS HARD TO FIND "PROOF" WHERE THE LEAK EXISTS. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT A LEAK SEARCH IS AN ADDITIONAL COST, WITH NO ASSURANCE THAT WE CAN ACTUALLY FIND A LEAK. I THINK IT MAKES PERFECT SENSE TO TELL A CUSTOMER THAT A FREON LEAK "PROBABLY" EXISTS WHEN MAKING A FIRST TIME CALL TO A HOME AND THE SYSTEM IS ONLY SLIGHTLY LOW ON FREON. WHY HAVE SOMEONE SPEND THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ON A LEAK SEARCH THAT MAY NOT BE NEEDED? I AM AT A COMPLETE LOSS AS TO WHY YOU WOULD COMMENT THAT THE SERVICE WAS POOR? WE ARRIVED ON TIME, WE WERE VERY DETAILED IN CHECKING YOUR SYSTEM ON BOTH VISITS, WE MADE YOU AWARE THAT YOUR FURNACE HAS A SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND GAVE YOU A BUDGETARY FIGURE THAT COULD EASILY HAVE BEEN CONFIRMED WITH A PHONE CALL IF YOU WANTED TO NARROW DOWN THE COST. WE MADE YOU AWARE THAT YOUR COOLING SYSTEM WAS DEFINITELY LOW ON FREON, BUT MAY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LOW AND "IF" A LEAK EXISTS THAT THE WEAK LINK IS YOUR COOLING COIL. A LEAK SEARCH FOR 1 LB OR LESS OF FREON IS TYPICALLY NOT COST EFFECTIVE AND WE DID NOT WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY. I WISH IF YOU HAD ANY ISSUES WITH OUR SERVICE THAT YOU WOULD HAVE SIMPLY CALLED ME. I THINK THE ENTIRE ISSUE COULD HAVE BEEN CLEARED UP WITH A REVIEW OF WHAT YOUR OPTIONS WERE. I WILL FOLLOW UP WITH YOU TO SEE IF YOU WANT TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MY OFFER TO SHOW YOU WHERE THE CRACKS EXIST IN YOUR INDUCER FAN MOTOR HOUSING. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED PRIOR TO RUNNING YOUR FURNACE THIS FALL. BEST REGARDS,STEVE LAUTEN-PRESIDENT TOTAL AIR & HEAT CO. The sales rep, Richard, did not sell mini-splits so I asked about a zone system. He discounted this, saying something about it would cause too much humidity. He even said the humidity was already high in the upstairs, telling me he could tell it was probably at 70% right then (little did he know I had a temp/humidity gauger on my dresser right next to me showing it at 45%!) Then he says he will put in a second unit, a one and a half ton unit to heat and cool the upstairs. He said the bottom of my second upstairs bedroom door would need to be cut so the bottom showed an additional 1 to 1.5 inches so air could leave the room (?). Then he showed me where he would install a return so air could be fed to the unit. He totally ignored the fact that it would be impossible to install any more ductwork, especially a return that would be larger than most, and run it to the second unit. Unless he would be removing part of my wall or roof (yes, roof), it was physically impossible. This did not stop him from saying that it was my best bet. On top of trying to sell me something he would not be able to successfully install, he then tried to scare me with stories of other companies using subcontractors. "You know what subs are, don't you? They are parolees. Ex-cons. I know a woman who had her jewelry go missing after she had an A/C unit installed by a company using subs." That isn't right and it isn't necessary.
Description of Work: I was seeking quotes for either a zone system on my entire house or installation of some mini-split ductless air conditioner units. My upstairs is very hot, and the strange design of the addition of the upstairs makes it very hot and impossible to add any ductwork. The roof and walls simply prevent this.

THE FACTS AS I SEE THEM ARE: OUR REPUTATION SPEAKS FOR ITSELF, OUR RATINGS ARE SOME OF THE HIGHEST ON ANGIE'S LIST. THIS MEMBER SIMPLY DOES NOT HAVE HIS FACTS STRAIGHT. HE MAY HAVE CONFUSED US WITH ANOTHER BIDDER. THE FACTS ARE: 1. WE DO SELL DUCTLESS SPLIT SYSTEMS AND HAVE MANY OF THEM INSTALLED. AIR CONDITIONERS CAN'T CREATE HUMIDITY, THEY REMOVE HUMIDITY! 2. WE HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR OVER 50 YEARS, NEVER INSTALLED ANY RETURN DUCTS IN THE ROOF, NEVER PROPOSED TO DO THAT. WE HAVE CUT IN RETURN DUCTS AND SUPPLY DUCTS THROUGH WALLS AND FLOORS. WE HAVE SUGGESTED THAT WALLS BE OPENED TO RUN DUCT. OUR GOALS ARE TO DO THE JOB RIGHT, AND SOMETIMES THAT DOES REQUIRE STRUCTURAL MODIFICATIONS. AS YOU STATED ABOVE: "MY UPSTAIRS IS VERY HOT AND HAS A STRANGE DESIGN." 3. ONE OF THE LARGEST TEXAS TRAINING ORGANIZATIONS FOR AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING REPAIR IS THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. ANYWAY YOU WANT TO LOOK AT IT, THESE ARE IN FACT "EX CONS" AND ARE IN FACT "PAROLEES". THE STATE OF TEXAS IS TRYING TO FIND JOBS FOR PAROLEES. I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST PAROLEES AND WISH THEM THE BEST OF LUCK BUT UNLESS THEY CAN PASS A STRICT BACKGROUND CHECK THEY WON'T BE WORKING FOR ME. ALL OF MY EMPLOYEES MUST PASS A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK, DRUG TEST AND MOTOR VEHICLE RECORD CHECK. THESE CHECKS ARE PERFORMED BY AN OUTSIDE VENDOR WHO SPECIALIZES IN PROVIDING THESE BACKGROUND CHECKS AND DRUG TESTS. THEN AND ONLY THEN ARE MY EMPLOYEES PROVIDED AN ID BADGE. ALL EMPLOYEES RECORDS AND INFO IS CONSTANTLY UPDATED MULTIPLE TIMES PER YEAR AND RANDOM DRUG TESTING IS PERFORMED. WHY WOULD ANYBODY WANT TO RISK FAMILY SAFETY? THAT'S WHY WE TELL POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS THAT THERE ARE MANY EX-CONVICTS WHO WORK FOR OTHER AIR CONDITIONING COMPANIES AND THEY SHOULD CONFIRM IF IT'S SAFE TO ALLOW THEM INTO THEIR HOME? SEEMS LIKE THE RIGHT THING TO DO IN MY OPINION. IN CLOSING I'M NOT SURE WHY YOU HAVE POSTED THE FEEDBACK YOU DID, IT SIMPLY IS NOT CORRECT. I CAN PROVE THE THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS TRAINS MANY CONVICTS TO PERFORM AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING REPAIR. IT MAKES NO SENSE THAT YOU WOULD HAVE AN ISSUE WITH US TELLING YOU OUR EMPLOYEES ARE SAFE TO ALLOW INTO YOUR HOME. I CAN PROVE THAT 100% OF MY EMPLOYEES ARE ID BADGED AND IT IS SAFE TO LET THEM INTO YOUR HOME TO WORK. I CAN PROVE WE HAVE INSTALLED MANY DUCTLESS SPLIT SYSTEMS. I HOPE YOU FIND A WAY TO SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS. BEST REGARDS, STEVE LAUTEN PRESIDENT TOTAL AIR & HEAT CO. SERVING THE DFW METROPLEX FOR 51 YEARS

They gave me an appointment time 10:00 am. I was happy that they did not give me a four hour appointment window like most companies do. They arrived at 10:15. The technician was professional and put on shoe covers before entering the house. He checked out the furnace, drain line, the charge in the system, the amp draw, and cleaned the compressor. He spent 1 hour and 15 minutes working. I was impressed because the companies that I have used in the past for a yearly check up were only there for 10 minutes. I used the Angie's list coupon to get $10 off the regular price.

My appointment was scheduled at 9:30 AM and the agent (Wes) arrived at 9:45 AM. He is very professional and shook my hand immediately upon entering and told me what was going to take place. The job took him approximately 75 minutes and he called me over a couple times to explain what he was doing and what impact it had on my GeoThermal unit. He was very familiar with GeoThermal systems, something that was hard to find when looking for a company to service my unit. Wes also recommended a couple of items to improve efficiency (digital thermometer), etc. I was quite impressed with the quality of work, quality of employee, and overall quality of the job. The quote was RIGHT ON TARGET with that was quoted over the phone. I would highly recommend this company based on this experience!
Description of Work: This was for a complete AC service in preparation for the Summer. The agent recorded volts, amps, temps, and pressure. He also checked motor bearings, electric connections, filters, and cleared the drain and checked water pressure. My unit received a good rating and is now ready for the summer.

My old system was costing me too much in repair bills, was inefficient, and was never installed correctly in the first place. I called Total Air and Heat after consulting Angie's List, the BBB, etc. to get a quote on a complete system upgrade. I'm glad I decided to go with Total Air & Heat. The crew showed up promptly on the scheduled day. Everyone was polite, professional, and clearly knew how to install this equipment. The new installation is so much better than before (see attached pictures). The system is much quieter and heats the house easily. They cleaned up completely afterwards - in fact my attic looks cleaner than before. I've learned that there is a huge difference between companies that can simply service existing equipment and those that can properly install new equipment. This company knows how to install a system properly. You can probably get a cheaper price, but who knows what you'll end of living with for the next 20 yrs.
Description of Work: Replaced existing 5-ton and 3-ton units with Trane High Efficiency complete systems, added two return air ducts, replaced existing programmable thermostats with new touch-screen type, corrected some poor duct work installation done by previous contractors, arranged for a city inspector to come out and approve the installation since it is a gas furnace. New equipment includes a 10-yr parts and labor warranty.

I signed up for their regular maintenance plan (288/year for 2 heating and air-conditioning units). The servicing was much more thorough than I expected, and my technician had lots of suggestions about saving $ on utility bills. He was knowledgeable, helpful, personable and professional. I needed to have a few parts replaced under warranty (should have been replaced by my last HVAC company when they did some related warranty work), so I scheduled that work about a week later. Although I had requested the same technician, I got somebody else, who did the work, but wasn't esp. helpful with questions and was about 25 min. late for the appointment.
Description of Work: I signed up for their regular maintenance plan (288/year for 2 heating and air-conditioning units). I also had to have 2 parts replaced under warranty--so I paid for labor only on the return visit to replace those parts.

Larry was very professional and also pointed out non-HVAC issues in my attic (a water leak form the roof and the need for additional support beams and cripples). He spent extra time checking out the furnace blower since the unit is much bigger than what my house needs and there could have been some damage given the setting it was using. He explained what was going on, and made recommendations about a Spring check-up for the A/C coolant and installing some carbon monoxide detectors. He wrote up his work for the amount advertised and asked about the Angie's List coupon (which I didn't know about until that morning, but will use next time). I will be calling this company again in the Spring, and would recommend them to anyone.
Description of Work: I got a flyer in the mail for their 21-point Energy Saver Tune-up for $79.95 which also included a carbon monoxide test. I called and was able to schedule an appointment within 2 weeks. They called me the day before to confirm the appointment, and Larry arrived on time.

We called at 4:30 PM on Saturday and talked with an answering service, within 10 minutes we talked with the technician, and within 40 minutes he had arrived. He was very professional and informative. We were told a flat rate of $130 (plus parts if any) for a weekend call out, and we ended up with no charges for parts. We were very pleased with this service and especially the prompt response time.
Description of Work: Sean troubleshot and repaired of our gas furnace which was not starting. A stuck safety switch was ultimately to blame but he also cleaned the chimney exhaust blower which was operating poorly. Sean also checked out other aspects of our installation and recommended upgrades to meet current safety codes.

Before calling Total Air & Heat Co., I had called the company that installed the system and explained the problem. They told me I would need to schedule a service call - this was on a Friday and the first available time they could send someone would be the following Tuesday. When we next need service, I will definitely call Total Air & Heat Co. Too bad we did not have Angie's list when we first had the system installed!

We have now used Total A & H several times now. They arrive promptly, check our systems out thoroughly & provide the appropriate repair. They are professional, provide good maintenance advice, and are able to schedule appointments within reasonable time frames. Even more so, they do try to send the same representative out so that you benefit from someone who is already familiar with your system. I will continue to use them for all of my A/C work. Thank You Angie's List - you are how I found Total A & H!
Description of Work: Our A/C was not cooling. We called Total A & H who sent Wes, the same individual who had replaced a thermostat for us on a previous occasion. Wes arrived on time, introduced himself, and verified the problem that I had reported over the phone. He then made a thorough check, inside and outside of our A/C system trying to identify not just the stated problem, but any other contributing factors. He then told me what he found and what he estimated the charges to be. Once I gave the go ahead, he worked efficiently to repair the problem.

The service man arrived ahead at the scheduled time. He checked out the complete system, starting in the attic. Our filters were clogged and he replaced them and gave us instructions on how often to replace them during the heat of summer. He checked out both AC units and found that the one that was still operating was, in fact, low on freon. The unit that had quit working was found to have a burned wire and a bad contactor. I appreciated the professionalism of the serviceman.

I called Total Air and Heat the next morning to see if John was coming back with the part to fix my A/C units fan. I was told they did not have confirmation of the part being available yet and would let me know ASAP. They called me back at 11 am and said they had located one and would send Larry to install it around 5:30 pm. 5:30 came and went and I received another call saying that Larry was running late and he would be at my house at 6:30 pm to install the motor. Larry arrived at 6:35 pm and was very nice and completed the replacement of the motor very quickly. A/C unit is working fine.
Description of Work: John Mills, came about 2:45 in the afternoon to diagnose a cooling problem to one of my air conditioner units. A half hour later he reported that the condenser fan motor bearings seized up. He did not have the part (Carrier component) and he would have to see if he could get it and let me know.

The AC quit working mid-morning and the house started to get hot in a hurry with triple digits outside. I called Total Air at 12:30 PM; they set an appt for 6:30 PM but the repair guy, Carl, was able to come a lot earlier, at 3:00 PM. He showed me and explained what was wrong. Had the new part right there, hooked it up, then the switch wouldn't turn back on because it was so old. So after dealing with that, he refilled the freon, took readings to be sure all was well, and was done in less than 45 min from start to finish. Wow! Very polite and respectful, quickly diagnosed what was wrong and did the required repairs without trying to sell anything extra.

Service was prompt and efficient. They were able to make both trips within 24 hours notice. Their receptionist was actually very helpful in selecting the work I needed to have done. Ultimately, they installed a DIY-type thermostat to help me save some money on that, since the technician had suggested it did not need replacing. Too bad the buyers of my house didn't see it that way!
Description of Work: Repaired flexible gas line on heater and repaired part of the heating system that caused it to fail a home inspection on a home I am selling. Came back two days later to replace a thermostat they had recommended did not need replacing, but the buyers insisted on having done anyway. (The total cost above reflects both trips.)

Very well! Carl's expertise saved us $2000 on a new compressor. He also gave us tips on how to perform periodic maintenance on our units to maximize their lifespan.
Description of Work: We called this company to get a second opinion after being told we needed to either replace our compressor or the entire unit as the fan motor wouldn't come on or would immediately trip the circuit when it would come on. Carl, the tech, checked the amps the unit was pulling and determined that we didn't have a power issue but thought our wiring might be loose in our breaker box, which caused the wires to overheat and trip the circuit. He tightened up the wire connections on our breaker box and the box outside. He also mentioned some issues that might be problems for our nine-year-old unit down the road.

WE TRULY APPRECIATE THE COMMENTS POSTED BY THIS MEMBER. THE COMMENTS DEFINE THE FOUNDATION ON WHICH OUR COMPANY WAS FOUNDED BY MY FATHER, FRED LAUTEN. OUR FOCUS HAS ALWAYS BEEN AIMED AT FINDING THE TRUE SOURCE OF WHATEVER ISSUES A A/C OR HEATING SYSTEM MIGHT HAVE? IT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY TO CONDEMN THE UNIT AND SELL A NEW ONE, FINDING THE PROBLEM AND FIXING IT WAS NOT AS EASY, BUT IT WAS "THE RIGHT THING TO DO" BEST REGARDS, STEVE LAUTEN, PRESIDENT

Total Air did an outstanding job! They were unassuming, courteous and professional. They went the extra mile to see we were happy and did not attempt to overcharge us. I also liked they had parts right on hand, no waiting.
Description of Work: Total air fixed my air conditioning unit that was leaking and no longer cooling. They replaced special filters and also a switch.

I have not only used Total Air for my home, but, also for my business. I have a yearly contract with them which covers two major calls to check the system and also anything else that may come up in between. The charge for the contract is $417. I know for the last visit, it was $147 for the maintenance check. I am not sure how that is divided up. They are usually here about three hours doing a very thorough job. I am very pleased with them.
Description of Work: Total Air came out to my home and totally went through my entire heating and air conditioning system. They went through the lines, cleaned the coils and changed the filter.

I was very happy about the fact that they will come on a Saturday. The repair went smoothly and they had no problems in identifying the trouble. It is now running fine and we were happy with the price.
Description of Work: I had my A/C repaired on a Saturday when it stopped running on Friday. They replaced a part.

We called this company out when the problem started happening. On their first visit, they could not figure out what the problem was. On their second attempt, again they were clueless. As I am handy in some regards, I went ahead and tested the gas valve and came to realize that it was malfunctioning. I called them with this information and they offered to fix the problem, labor free. The part however would have run me up-wards of $400. I found the part retail for $110. I was very unhappy with this as I felt like they were out to take advantage of me.
Description of Work: Our furnace was not working properly as it was shutting off and then when it came back on, it would kick right back off again. The company checked the problem on two separate occasions. No work was ever performed and they did not fix the problem. I was charged for both of the visits to the home. ($260.00)

MEMBER HAS LEFT OUT MANY CRITICAL FACTS. WE PRIDE OURSELVES ON NOT BEING "PARTS CHANGERS", INSTEAD WE REPLACE PARTS THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. AT NO TIME DID THE FURNACE EVER FAIL LONG ENOUGH WHILE WE WERE AT THE HOME TO DIAGNOSE WHAT PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MEMBER KNOWS THIS! WE ISOLATED THE PROBLEM DOWN TO 2 VERY EXPENSIVE PARTS. MEMBER UNDERSTOOD THAT, AND AGREED AS LONG AS THE FURNACE OPERATED WE NEEDED TO WAIT AND FIND THE BAD PART. THE FURNACE FINALLY FAILED WHERE IT WOULD NOT RESET AND NOW WE COULD FIND OUT WHICH PART WAS TRULY BAD. WHEN THE PART FAILED IT WAS A VERY COLD WEEKEND, AND ALL OF OUR TECHS WERE ON CALLS. THEREFORE I PERSONALLY TALKED TO THIS MEMBER FROM MY HOME. I DROPPED WHAT I WAS DOING AND WENT TO OUR OFFICE TO SEE IF WE HAD THE PART AND WE DID NOT. THIS FURNACE REQUIRED A SPECIFIC GAS VALVE WHICH IS NOT TYPICAL OF MOST FURNACES. I AGREED TO INSTALL THE PART WITHOUT LABOR. WE DID NOT QUOTE $400 FOR THE PART, IT WAS AROUND $275. THE MEMBER BOUGHT THE PART OFF THE INTERNET AND I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS A FACTORY AUTHORIZED PART, INSTEAD IT IS GENERIC AND HE PAID BELOW OUR COST! FURNACES HAVE SAFETY RATINGS AND TO KEEP THEM, SPECIALLY FOR A GAS VALVE, WE ALWAYS USE THE UL LISTED REPLACEMENT PART. WE HAVE INSURANCE, VEHICLES, GASOLINE, HEALTH INSURANCE, AND MANY OTHER ITEMS TO COVER IN OUR OVERHEAD. THE INTERNET HAS NONE OF THESE THINGS! WE HAVE BEEN VOTED THE BEST HEAT AND AIR CONTRACTOR IN COLLIN COUNTY 13 TIMES AND IN BUSINESS 50 YEARS!
