We scheduled a Deluxe Cleaning for Monday at 11:00am. It was then delayed to 1pm. Less than two hours before the appointment, Pop-Ins canceled and said they would reschedule. We did not hear from Pop-Ins until the next day at 10:40am. They scheduled it just after 11am – around 30 minutes notice. 11am came and went... My spouse called their office and was finally notified they were delayed again, this time to 3pm. 3pm passed. Again, we had to call them to find out the service had been delayed. It was now to be just after 3:40pm. A single maid finally arrived at 4:07pm (they used to send two maids). She didn't have a broom and wasn't able to leave until 7:25pm. She only did a fraction of the work the service previously entailed. The owner rarely works, so it took two days to speak to her. She said they never did the work they once did, expressed doubt that we're repeat customers, and blamed ex-employees for finding better jobs. Don't use Pop-Ins. You'll regret it.

I used Pop-Ins for numerous years at my previous home. I reached out to them to do a cleaning on my current home and they never showed up. They kept telling me they would be there in 30 minutes, then I got upset with them and they flat out stood me up. Very poor customer service, they overbook their employees to where it’s impossible for them to stay on a schedule. I recommended this company to so many people, but I will never make that mistake again. They also refused to tell me who the owner of the company is so that I could let them know about my complaint.

Description of Work: Hired for a move-in house cleaning. The two cleaners that arrived had a very poor attitude, as if they did not want to be there, and did a poor job. Many things were not cleaned, even though I paid extra for extra services. I ended up having to clean myself prior to unpacking. Would neither use again nor recommend.

I recieved an email offering a $40 coupon off Pop Ins Maid Service. It was a week before I was scheduled for major surgery - so I called and scheduled a deep cleaning ($200 after the coupon). Two women arrived when scheduled. I said hello and asked how they were. Neither woman spoke English. They picked up their cleaning supplies and headed straight to the master bedroom. I left my 17 year old daughter at home while I ran a quick errand. While I was out - the Pop Ins supervisor contacted me. Apparently the maids called her and indicated my house was too dirty for them to clean in the time allotted - and she wanted to make sure I was OK with them staying longer at an extra charge. I said no - was frankly irritated to get such a call within the first 20 minutes of the maids being at my home. When I got home - my daughter (who fortunately speaks Spanish) told me the women had been complaining about what needed to be done and had commented to each other that the check I had written was for the fee due to Pop Ins - no tip. (I intended to tip them in cash). I called the supervisor again and asked that she have these ladies leave. The two women were not polite - seemed to have a bad attitude. While the Pop Ins supervisor told me she would not charge me for the 45 minutes her maids were here - she was not particulary nice - not at all apologetic. I was totally taken aback by this negative experience. My house was completely "picked up" - nothing on the tables, nightstands, counters, etc. It did need to be dusted, vacuumed and the bathrooms needed a good scrub down. What did they think they were going to be doing? I will not use Pop Ins again!
Description of Work: Very little because I asked the maids to leave after they were here about an hour.

For seven years (2006-2012) I was a loyal customer of this company. I even engaged their services at least twice for others as house-warming gifts. For the first 3 years I had service bi- monthly, and monthly for the last four years. I have a one-story home and as requested, I was able to have the same cleaning crew every month. I was pleased with the quality of the work, however there were a few instances when I needed to report damage. I'm a reasonable person and I realize that accidents happen, but the management of the company was very insensitive and inconsiderate when I had to request replacement or reimbursement for a swing-arm floor lamp that one of the ladies broke when cleaning my home on of November 8, 2012. The base of the lamp was broken into two pieces and put back in place, so I didn't notice it until after the ladies had gone. I immediately called to report it and was told that the owner, Stephanie, was unavailable and would call me "when she came in". ( I didn't bother to mention that in the bathroom a vial of Issey Miyake cologne was broken also.) I took pictures the same day and sent them online. Not only did the owner fail to call, but I was given nothing but excuses and subterfuge by her office manager when I made follow-up calls. A few weeks later I even found the exact lamp at a local lighting store on sale at half price and called Pop-Ins from the store to inform them. The manager said she would call the owner and call me back. I waited for half an hour or so, and there was no return call. Since it was a closeout, the last one in stock, and a bargain at half the price I had paid originally, I went ahead and purchased it. Suffice it to say that after a month of getting the runaroiund from Pop-Ins, my daughter who is an attorney wrote them threatening legal action if they refused to respond. It was toward the end of December, almost 2 months later, that I finally received their check. On another occasion a few years prior, one of their new hires came with the regular crew member and plugged a vacuum cleaner into an outlet behind a custom vase in my art niche. Needless to say, the vase and its base, with contents, came crashing to the floor. Thankfully the company from which I purchased it was able to find a replacement for me.Since Pop-Ins did pay for it I didn't make an issue of it, though I felt that the owner seemed reluctant and could have been more accommodating,. In general, as a loyal customer who always paid the day of service, never bounced a check, tipped 20% and ALWAYS gave a Christmas bonus (which generally went unacknowledged) to the cleaning ladies, I deserved to be treated with more respect and common courtesy than I received from Stephanie and her office staff. That being said,I would not recommend this company.

Response from POP-INS MAID SERVICE
First of all, (deleted member name), thank you so much for using Pop-Ins Maid Service for seven years! I want to address your concern about the timing of the replacement money for the lamp. As you know, my mother-in-law died in early December and we had to go to PA for her funeral. Due to this situation, my office manager called you and offered you two free cleanings (which had a value of more than the cost of the lamp) in lieu of getting you a check. So, although there was a delay sending you a check - I did attempt to get money to you sooner in the form of free cleanings. I had no idea this would upset you like this and I am very sorry. Please accept our apology.

I don't remember the exact date. But we used this company a few years back, and I would not recommend them to anyone. My wife and I received recommendation from them from my mother, who had been using them for years. So being our first time to use a maid service we chose them. The first day they came out I remember the woman (who of course, didn't speak english) spent an hour and a half just cleaning our two little bathroom areas. (My wife and I could have done this in 30 minutes or less). Then when her 2 hours were up. The rest of the house had not been touched, then before she left she attempted with little english she knew to solicit just herself for cleaning. Telling us it would be cheaper. So after that we gave it another shot, this time we recieved a younger woman, who knocked out my wifes list of cleaning items and actually did a good job. So we started using them for a few more weeks, but when we came home, nothing was dusted. It looked like all they did was vacuum, no dusting or any real cleaning was being done. After that we dumped them. There are a million cleaning services out there. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone, and I hope one day their poor service puts them out of business. Thank you.

First time pop ins maid service showed up, there was only 1 older lady. We paid for $75 for 2:30 hours. The maid took almost all her time back in our bathroom and bedroom, and when all was done, after she finished vacumming only half the house, because she spent so much time in our bathroom, we saw that she did not even clean the shower. How is that possible? She didn't even get through my wife's entire list. Which honestly in 2 and half hours I myself could have done a much better job of getting everything done. Also before she left she actually had the nerve to discuss contacting her directly and not through pop ins. She said she would do the work for a cheaper price, if we contacted her directly. I guess she was just using Pop Ins to advertise her services and build her own clientele, probably because Popins takes most of her profit. After this we almost decided to dump them but then we diceded to change our time, so we got a different maid. This was a younger girl and I have to say she did a thorough job, so we decided to keep with them for awhile. We had them clean 2 times a month, then after a few months, realized we really only needed a good cleaning once a month. Well after this, the cleanings went from ok to flat out a lousy and a waste of time and money. The very last few cleanings they didn't do much of anything on the list, they apparently never stay the whole 2 and half hours [according to the wife who was home a few times when they were there], and they didn't even dust. I would strongly recommend staying away from Pop Ins, they are just a waste of money if you need a even a reasonable house cleaning.
Description of Work: My expectations in a maid service would to first have someone be able to read the list of cleaning tasks you leave. And then complete those tasks. Or in the least vacuum, sweep, mop, and dust every time. Pop Ins failed several times to complete a task written on the list, or flat out just not do a basic task such as dusting. Poor Quality Service. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

The basic cleaning was mediocre at best. Apparently, the maids follow a list. I tried to talk to them, but apparently they do not understand English--or maybe they don't want to be bothered with special instructions. There was not a lot for the maids to do since my beds were made and the kitchen was clean when they showed up. All they really needed to do was dust, clean all the floors and sanitize the bathrooms. My wood floors were swept but not mopped. They were so rough on my blinds while they were dusting them that I was afraid they were going to be damaged. My main concern was in my master bath which went through a renovation a few months ago. Apparently, the maids accidently used a caustic cleaner on the chrome shower fixture because the damage appeared the same day the maids were there. I called the office to tell them and was told the owner would call me back. It's been a week, and I haven't heard from the service. I used Pop-Ins several years ago, and they were fabulous. They sent maids with great attitudes who went the extra mile. Maybe the company has new management/ownership now.

We have been hiring Pop-Ins for a couple of years now. Our first experiences were for move-out cleaning on our apartments in 2008, which went well. We provided the move out cleaning list, and the maid performed everything perfectly (we got our entire apartment deposit back-yay!). Now as home owners, we hire them for regular cleaning about once per month. We usually get the same person, and they work very hard. We provide a list and they work for 2.5 hours. They always get through our whole list, and do a very good job. Always have had a very good experience, from booking with Beth at their office to all of the maids I have met.

The over all cleaning was not a bad job, however, the floors were not completely cleaned and streaked (we have bamboo floors throughout). I was happy with the kitchen cabinet work and the cleaning, over all. I was very unhappy that I returned home to find my house in a disheveled state. My electronics had been unplugged and not plugged back in. I use roombas to keep the dust down, they had all been moved and not set back on their chargers. My virtual walls (they keep my roombas in certain areas of the house) had been moved and not placed anywhere NEAR back to their original locations. The worst was that one had been set in my POTTED PLANT! Lastly, my nightstand had been moved from the wall (a good 2 foot) not returned my alarm clock was knocked off in the floor.

I spoke with the scheduler over the phone and indicated that I wanted a one time clean of my house. I said that I was looking for something on a more permanent basis, but that I wanted to give it a try first. We discussed the various options--"deluxe" which would have been around $240, or a "standard" which was half that (but on special for $59.95 for 2&1/2 hours work), or give them a list and $30/hour/person. I had specific things that I wanted done, so I opted for the list and for 4 hours (2 people for 2 hours each). With a $10 coupon and tax, it worked out to $119. Before they showed up, I spent 3 hours picking up stuff (e.g., coffee table stuff went on the couch, bed stand stuff went on the bed, etc.) so they could just clean. I even moved one couch to the middle of the room (they don't move furniture) to make sure they could access the surface behind to dust, and to vacuum where the couch usually sat. I labeled an 11x10 bedroom I use for storage, a 10X10 walk in closet, and 2 bathrooms with Post-its saying "Don't Clean inside". I stayed in the part of the house with a 20X20 add on and a 10X15 sunroom with my dogs while they cleaned, thinking after they finished with the other part of the house, they could do those 2 rooms and I could move into the clean part with the dogs. They showed up at 12:50 pm, within the 11-2 time frame. The problem with the "list" approach was that only one spoke English and neither read English. I went over the list with them verbally, but it seemed as if they really were there to do what they do and not necessarily what was on the list. (It was pretty much a standard list, in short, --Dust all exposed surfaces, clean all blinds, Clean kitchen, vacuum all carpets, mop tile, and clean main bath.) I'm not sure that the list was understood because a couple of things weren't done that I asked for that may not have been what they do usually. For example, I provided them with a long fan blade cleaner that you can use even with the cathedral ceilings fans (pointing to the fans with the cleaner)--none of the fan blades were dusted, not even the low ones. I asked that the blinds be dusted (wooden slat). Some were, some were not. I gave them a special cleaner for stone for the kitchen counters, bathroom counter, kitchen table, and 2 stone coffee table tops. I left the cleaner on one particularly dirty granite coffee table top when I was pointing out what needed to be cleaned with that cleaner. It didn't even get cleaned at all. The stone coffee table tops were not even wiped off. The kitchen table (slate tile) was not touched. I left out Murphy's oil soap to clean the kitchen cabinets, labeled with a post-it note to that effect. It wasn't touched. So hang the list approach--it didn't happen. What they did was ok at best. It was evident that they moved things on the kitchen counter and cleaned. I left the door to the walk in pantry open so that they would at least vacuum the 4 square feet of floor in there. They simply closed the door. They left a pile of stuff--dirt, dust--in the dining room, (Almost like they emptied a vacuum cleaner and spilled some?) Plus, on the other side of the dining room table, it looked like they had dusted something off and simply left the debris there, including a dead wasp. Also, the chairs were not repositioned at the table. Did they simply run out of time in the dining room? I don't know. They never got to the other 2 rooms that I occupied while they were there that I wanted to be cleaned. My house is 3000 square feet. I had about 500 square feet that I was not even expecting to be cleaned. What was cleaned was around 2000 square feet, which included only one bathroom. Maybe the additional 500 square feet in the back room and sun room was a bit too much for the time. I'm not quibbling about that. However, when I was getting quotes, I was getting quotes for about the same amount based on 2800 square feet and 2 bathrooms. (I would never have anyone else clean the storage bedroom and closets. They are too packed.) I am not a neat or mess freak (my husband fills that role in our family), so my standards are not high. I was glad to have a house that I can now finish cleaning in a reasonable amount of time, but I am a little disappointed at what did not get done--like cleaning the fan blades and blinds. I would have liked to have been given a heads up that my expectations were too much because I would have said, "Skip the main bathroom (which is fairly clean anyway) and the office bedroom and the guest room, and do the back 2 rooms first because that is my priority." It was not possible given the language barrier. If it had not been for the obvious pile of dirt and debris in the dining room, I probably would have ranked the overall experience as a C. I'm at least going barefoot in my house tonight because the floors are clean. I will try another service.

This was ok service. I was not impressed with the service. They did a very light clean and appeared they skimmed over the surface. I feel this was misleading for a general wipe down.
Description of Work: They were hired to clean for 2 and a half hours. The deal was advertised as they would perform any cleaning during the 2.5 hour time span they were here. I feel it was more like a brushing of the surface. I had them clean 3 bathrooms and mop the floors downstairs on my 3000 sq ft 2 story home.
