I was really disappointed with Keith Allen, the owner. I gave him the money upfront. He is out of business now and his office is closed. The e-mail I got from him says that he working out of his home. He wasn?t putting out the product and wasn?t fixing stuff very fast. I finally threatened him with a lawsuit when he didn?t deliver my computer. It still took another six months to get it from him. He was sick and was in the hospital for a while, which I understand. He kept hiring people and then used to fire them. He didn?t pay them either. He was very personable though. I sent him over 16 e-mails. There used to be a place right next door to his shop that sold cars. I stopped there a couple of times and I saw the computer store next door. So, I talked to Keith and asked him if he could build me a computer and he agreed to it. He seemed knowledgeable and I gave him some specifications. I then asked him for the cost and he calculated and told me that it would be $2400. I thought that was a good price and I gave him a check that same day, but I didn?t get the item for two and a half years. He started in December of 2006 after Christmas. It was incredible. I bought another computer before I got that one. I would tell others not to give him any business. He will overcharge you and take forever to fix the computer. However, I did get a good computer which works well, but took forever to get it. I can?t judge the quality of the components used.
Description of Work: I used the services of Plano Computer for having a custom-built computer made. My last interaction with them was in September of 2009.

I never saw my money OR MY PC again. I repeatedly called him, emailed him, and visited him, over the next YEAR, and got a succession of excuses about "problems with my PC" - driver issues, etc. When I finally asked for my PC back, he said it had had so many problems he hadn't "kept it around," and he "didn't remember" where it was! When I continued to ask for my money back, he began threatening to have me arrested, get no trespassing orders, etc. One night when I was knocking on his door, he came running out, grabbed me by the collar, said "I'm gonna FIX you good," and practically lifted me off the ground. Then he tried to get the Plano police to arrest me by claiming that I had tried to break into his shop (WHILE HE WAS STILL IN IT!) The P. police came out. They didn't buy his story. Then he suddenly left town, and his shop was finally locked by sheriff's order. He then applied for, and was probably granted, bankruptcy (Case 10-43608: Keith Allen, Plano Computer. I was listed as one of his creditors. I did NOT vote to reject his request, which I could, and should have done - since he's back in business.)
Description of Work: I gave my PC to Keith Allen, to be upgraded to a 64 bit system. It was in good shape, except for minor audio problem. He asked for a deposit of $117.99, which he had me write out to "AECE", one of his alternate business names/aliases. He also asked for my credit card number, in case he got "left holding the bag." He assured me he'd run any charges by me before using the card. About 3 months later, I discovered he had charged $1070.60 to my credit card, using his website, planocomputer.com, as the business name, and certainly without my knowledge or consent. He said it was for parts. Parts he was never able to show me, or any paperwork on them.
