Plano Overhead Garage Door

It started w/a helpful Saturday phone conversation wherein I described the condition & "symptoms" of my probably 13 year old garage door. She offered several options and suggestions, not just total replacement. After a couple more days of research, thinking, etc., I decided to replace. I called back on Monday; she remembered speaking w/ me on Sat., quickly re-quoted when I said I had since measured and need an 18' door instead of the 16' we had discussed; still, they had what I wanted in stock and offered to come out that afternoon! Not sure if anyone would be home, I asked them to come on Tue. We left the garage door unlocked; when I got home that afternoon/evening, the technician was finishing up. I was amazed at how quiet it was, what I had thought was a noisy opener was, in fact, the old door! He mentioned the opener's clutch is "cranked down as far as it will go," so I won't be surprised if I need to replace it within a couple of years, but he made no effort to sell or pressure me into a replacement. I asked and received some info on routine maintenance. I didn't visit the showroom and didn't really know what kind or how much "insulation" ( $150 difference from the cheapest option) to expect. It's <= 1/2" thick; I don't heat or cool the garage, but the door does face west, and I hope it'll help keep out "some" late TX afternoon heat.

The company showed up to my home on time and removed the old garage door opener and disposed of it. I have two garage doors and plan to use them on the other one. They were very neat and I was pleased with there service.

They were very nice, friendly, and helpful. They cleaned up after their mess after they had finished. Prices were pretty fair competitive to the others that we had looked up. I would recommend them to friends and family. I felt very comfortable with them. I felt like I knew what they were doing.

Quick review - Fast, courteous and professional service. Highly recommended. Long story - Found out my garage door spring had broken, so contacted Plano Overhead for an estimate to repair. Estimate to upgrade to double spring and other broken parts was $350. I asked about the option of just replacing the entire door (no pressure to do so), and was told an upgrade to a new insulated door and adding perimeter trim would be $754. Went ahead and did so as we are in process of trying to update our home. The people on the phone, the person doing the estimate, and the person who did the work were all very polite, patient with my questions, and professional. The new door was installed quickly and worked well. I was initially disappointed with the appearance of the door as some touch up paint work did not blend in well with the original paint. When I notified them of the issue, they came out and took a look and immediately offered to replace the entire door at no expense to me. It is a pleasure to do business with a company who stands behind there work. The second door was installed and the very minor touch up paint needed is unnoticeable from the original paint. Very happy with overall experience.

Overall pretty painless. Both appointments the tech arrived as expected, were professional. I was fully explained all my options and did not feel pressured to request more expensive items. The day of the work, the job went quicker than expected by half. The garage door looks great and definitely much better quality than the original.

The process was so smooth. I had already tried to hire one company to come out and do the work, but I couldn't get them to come when they said or call me back. The lady on the phone at Plano Overhead was super friendly and helpful, set up someone to come the next morning, and answered all my questions. The man who came was on time, professional, quick, and very friendly. This company only installs one type of opener, and while it isn't the cheapest model, I think it was a great deal.

Came the same day I called. Very professional. The door opener has worked flawlessly for several months.

Did not return my inquiry timely. Hired a different company. :(

The technician came out on time. The work was done quickly and efficiently and a garage door tune was also performed, which I appreciated. It only took him 45 minutes. The price seems a little high -- however, I wouldn't hesitate to call them out again or to recommend them.

Guy showed up to estimate work on time but he remained me of Earl's little brother on "My Name is Earl" (looks and communication). He did not present himself very professionally which is probably why I put no stock in his immediate assessment that a new door was needed. Granted, at a glance it does appear in bad shape but a replacement for the unique door was going to be very expensive and I really wanted to tell the guy what I wanted done rather than have him write it off without really looking at it. My over all impression was that the company's margin is higher on new door sales and they don't want to mess with repair beyond tightening bolts and squirting oil.

I called PLANO OVERHEAD GARAGE DOOR on New Years eve at 9am hoping to get an appointment within a few days for someone to look at my very old opener which was not working. I was very happy to find out that they were able to send out a technician by 2pm the same day! The technician was 20 minutes early and was able to tell me pretty quickly that my 24 year old opener was shot and needed to be replaced. Lucky for me they had a new unit on the truck and were able to replace my old one with a new one within about 80 minutes at a very fair price for a nice modern opener and an external keypad. The technician took the time to show me the key components of how it worked and was on his way. I was extremely pleased with the whole thing.

Very well. Thought I just needed to replaced the drive wheel which they would have done but consulted to put a new unit in (cost/warranty/etc) 1.5 hours later Randy was done. He was very professional and made sure my car was paired correctly.

We had a little mishap with our door yesterday. Someone (not me for a change -whew!) hit the garage door button while my wife was pulling into the garage. The timing was perfect. The door came down on top of our Tahoe as it was entering the garage. It was later in the afternoon and I was hoping someone could at least get out here and help me get the door down for the night. They came around 5:30 pm - about 45 minutes after I called and got the door down for the evening and I ordered a new door. They gave me a price estimate and said they would be back between 1 and 1:30 today. The gentleman showed up right on time and was out in about 3 hours. He replaced all the support structure, track, etc. which was more than I expected yet he didn't hit me up for any extra expense. I upgraded my door a little bit and it looks great, operates smoothly and I am VERY pleased. There was a $25 Angie's List coupon which he gladly accepted and next thing you know, I am a happy customer.

I had a 30 year old wooden door which was squeaking, and I was greasing the tracks and running it up and down when the lifter failed. When I disconnected the door and tried to raise it I found that it took 2 of us to lift it. I decided we needed a new door, so I called Plano OHD and they came out the next day (Saturday) and replaced a starting capacitor. This allowed operation until they came out Monday with a new door, which they installed, and which worked fine. A few days later I discovered that the new door tracks were blocking 2 cupboard doors. I called them and suggested that they cut off the tops of the doors. Instead they sent out a man who completely re-installed the door at no charge. Now the door works fine and I can open the cupboards.

Excellent. The tech was very experienced, polite, and made certain that all of the safety features of the door and opener were working correctly. I called for a repair because one of the limit switches had failed. He replaced both switches and serviced and adjusted the entire system for basically what I expected to pay for the repair. Not only that, but he came the same day I called and was able to schedule the stop late enough so that I didn't have to leave my office and meet him and then return to work.

I was not present for the installation, but my father-in-law was very satisfied with everything from the crew's arrival (right on time) to the time they said it would take (4 to 5 hours, also accurate), to their professionalism.

They did excellent work. The technician was supposed to come between 9 and 9:30. He arrived at 8:47 (yes, I checked my watch in disbelief). He diagnosed the problem instantly, gave me the options for repairing it, then completed the work in a timely fashion. I couldn't have asked for better service.

On a Friday evening my old Liftmaster chain drive garage door opener blew a capacitor inside the unit. This has happened before and I did not want invest any more money fixing the old unit. I went to Angie's List to check garage door company recommendations. Plano Overhead Garage Door is highly ranked and the company has a showroom to examine Liftmaster products. I visited Monday and spoke with Susan Sickler about the openers the company carried etc. She was very knowledgeable about the units POGD carried, was pleasant to speak with, explained the pros and cons of garage door etc and answered my questions to my satisfaction. POGD was able to schedule an install the next day. The technician arrived as scheduled. The work took an hour and a half. He cleaned up any mess and removed the old system. He explained how the new opener worked. The new unit has a digital keypad and has numerous options the old unit did not have. The new opener works great and has a good warranty.

We were very pleased with the experience we had with Plano Overhead Garage Door. They were always very courteous and willing to take time to answer any questions. When the installer was held up on another job we were notified that he would be a little late. The installation went smoothly and the door looks and works great!

My first use of Angie's List was a wonderful experience! I selected Plano Overhead Garage Door to repair or replace a door that was dented and would not open. A representative was here within 30 minutes of my call. He explained my problem(s) clearly and offered options. I chose to replace the door and the opener. The work was done the same day. After looking at the excellent work, I decided to replace the other door, as well. This work was completed the following afternoon as scheduled. Their customer service could not be better!

Our experience with the company was professional from start to finish. When we requested an estimate for insurance purposes it was sent to us promptly. We were able to get an appointment in less than a week once we decided to go with them for the installation. The technician showed up on time, made certain that the new opener not only worked but that our garage door was properly balanced and cleaned up our garage when he was done.

The problem occurred on a Saturday morning, but the company was able to have the technician (Todd?) out that morning. In fact, he came within 20 minutes of the initial call. He allowed me to watch him fix the door and gladly answered questions and explained the problems fully. He was extremely polite and professional.

They were able to come out the same day I called, actually within three hours. The work was performed quickly, neatly, efficiently. They provided me with lifetime warranty.

They were very punctual. They did a great job.

My torsion spring broken on a Saturday afternoon. It was too late in the day to get someone out to look at the door that day. After finding this company on Angie's list, I contacted them at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning. They provided me a quote over the phone, I accepted the quote and they dispatched a truck right away. Someone was on-site within forty-five minutes. In the meantime, the office called me back to tell me they found warranty information for my door (I had forgotten that it was this company that had done the original install) and informed me that the materials were covered by warranty. Only the labor would need to be paid for (cutting my expense by fifty percent). The repairman replaced both springs (even though only one was broken) within forty-five minutes. By 10:30 a.m., the job was complete. I was satisfied with the workmanship, impressed with the speed of response and delighted by the honesty in honoring the warranty. A first class experience.
