I was extremely impressed right from the beginning when I met Steve who was very professional, detailed and a great communicator.  The exterior repair and painting crew were led by Alex (very talented) and they truly did an outstanding job.  They were punctual, efficient, dedicated and clearly had a lot of pride in their work which was executed very well.  The price was great too!.  I have no hesitation in recommending Paint the USA and would definitely use them again - I will be asking for Alex!  Was very happy with the result!

Steve,

I apologize for not filling out this review earlier!!

The first day the workers took down all of the old gutters, power washed the house and after it dried, replaced damaged soffits and primed and caulked the house. The second day they painted all of the trim and the garage door. They came back after the Labor day holiday and put up all new gutters, gutter screens and down spouts. They did excellent work and were very good about cleaning up after themselves. I would refer them without hesitation and plan to use them again for some interior painting.

These guys are great. As a home owner, I am not looking for somebody to do work for free or to give me a “great” deal at the cost of quality. What I want is to pay a fair price for good quality work and that is precisely what you get from PaintTheUSA.
Steven came to my house and looked at what had to be done and gave me a fair price and assured me I would be really pleased with the results and that is exactly how things turned out. The quality of their work is excellent and above expectations.
It is great to get work done by people who care and take pride in what they do.
I will definitely use these guys again and will recommend them to my friends and family.

I originally had planned to do the job myself, but my wife suggested that we at least get an estimate from a pro. I made that clear to Steve when he came to bid on the job and even knowing I was preferring to save the cost and do it myself, he gave me tips on which products to use that were better than those found at the big box home improvement stores. His upfront honesty coupled with the "subtle" hints from my wife convinced me to hire them and I am very pleased with the end results. Their pricing was also very competitive compared to other companies on Angie's List.

Steven Shipler visted the site and made useful recomendations that helped me make a good decision on what I should have done.. He estimated the jobtime and cost and outlined clearly what his crew would do.
The crew turned up on time and covered the area from the front door to the kitchen work area to protect the house from any paint or plaster spatters as well as anything brought into the house from foot traffic..
The end result was better then I had hoped for as I knew it would be difficult to match the plaster pattern. The job was completed on time and at the cost estimated. I again must comment and compliment the crew on the job they did.
The house was left spotless with no evidence of the extensive work done in the kitchen or anywhere else in the house.
This was an A plus job.
I will use Paint The USA again.

We were not overall completely happy with this job.
First of all, the painter showed up late every day around 10:30. They sent one man to do a two or three man job. It took a week to do a three or four day job.

We had to ask the painter to hand paint the living room again after he sprayed painted it. It just wasn't what we expected.
The carpenter was very unprofessional. He couldn't cut the crown molding corners so he compromised. He also didn't match joints in the crown molding in a couple of places. He cut the baseboard with spaces for outlets with no concern for the correct space for the outlet plates. He was not willing to correct anything. Thus this is a big job for us which we weren't expecting.
We were not happy with the front door, storm door and back door paint. We asked them to fill in cracks in the doors which wasn't done. They didn't even sand the doors before painting. They couldn't get the black paint that we liked after buying three gallons of black paint. The doors still looked blue. They really messed up the storm dorrm. The paint was peeling off the door and the hinges were awful with globs of paint half on, half off. You could just pull it off.
We have since filled in all cracks and sanded down the doors and found semi-glass black paint that we like. We also replaced the storm doorn in the front. Things again we were not expecting to have to do.
They taped plastic to the blades of a new Hunter ceiling fan in the living room and it took the finnish off. The owner was gracious to send us a check to cover this cost. More work for us to do that we were not expecting.
Time will tell about the outside of the house, but looks good now and are pleased with the gutters installed.
The general manager and the painter were both very nice, even though they couldn't please us.
The owner knew we were not happy but didn't offer to do anything about it. He did say he would make a note of our complaints.

I called three companies for estimates. Paint the USA was the last to give estimate because it took Mr Shipler 2 full weeks to return my 1st call. This should have been a red flag but I ignored it. He said it took so long to respond because he was out of town on a bike trip. He was very nice and was able to print out a contract on the spot. I agreed to his company doing the job. We had not agreed on a start date because he had to get with his guys. The next week his guys showed up but not scheduled with me. That should have been my second flag.Mr. Shipler has poor communication with his guys and customers. When they showed up on the real scheduled date they did good work and were very friendly. My request was to have the same type of paint used on the trim. I have four dogs and they get on the window ledges so I needed it to be very durable. The paint the put on was supposedly the same and was chosen either by Mr. Shipler or the head painter. The day they showed up the lead painter asked me what we were using on the trim. I asked if Mr. Shipler had not told him because he was the one who determined what kind of paint we had discussed. Red flag #3. They did the above jobs in 2 stages. After the jobs were done I called Mr. Shipler back to the house because one of the spare bedrooms needed a second coat. The previous color was bleeding through. The other issue I had was that the color of the trim paint and quality was not good. He came over and took notes and said he would make it right. I did not hear from him for a week so I called him. (Remember, my house is in complete dissaray. I couldn't move any furniture back until the jobs were done.) I called Mr Shipler at least 2 more times and text him 1 time. He finally after waitng 3-4 weeks text me back saying" I will get with my guys and get back with you on the numbers". This meat to me he didn"t want to send his guys back to "make it right" and that he was going to charge me to redo what was done wrong. Not to mention it has now been several weeks since the original work was done and now the paint on the trim in the master bath is starting to peal. I went ahead and called 3 more companies to give me a quote to redo the bad trim work and paint the remainder of the house. It is now 7 weeks after Paint The USA has left my house and Mr Shipler calls me ,the day before the new company is to come over , and says he is calling to get me back on the schedule. I told him I needed him 7 weeks ago and I have already hired a new company to fix his mess and finish the rest of the house. He said he was sorry. I told him I wanted receipts for the work done, copies of the contracts and my money back for the trim work. He said he would do what he could. I never got ANYTHING. In January I reported him to the BBB. After getting the complaint he called me and agreed he had dropped the ball. He agreed that I had every reason to be angry, frustrated and deserving of refund. He offered to come over to show other products he sells to see if I might want to barter. He discussed and gave me a quote on gutters. I asked him what gauge gutter they use. He didn't know and had to call somebody. Red flag #4. He told me they use .017 which he claimed was standard. He quoted me $2,900,00. I told him I would get back with him. I got quotes from 3 gutter companies. Two companies quoted around $1,300.00 using .026 gauge. The third company said I didn't need gutters but quoted $4,900.00 using .036 gauge. I did some reading on products and found out the gauge he offered me was the worst product and should not be used. Needless to say I turned his barter offer down via e mail and told him that it was not in my best interest to do business with him because I would not be any better off. His product was poor and he didn't even know the specifics of his own products. This was the same problem that accured with the paint job. I told him I don't understand how as the owner and sales representative of his company he can sell products he is not educated on. My request is to be reimbursed $3,500.00 for the trim work. He provided me copies of the contracts which he said were also my receipts. I followed up with the BBB and they had closed the file because Mr. Shipler never got back with them. He is not a member of the BBB so they did all they could. They reported to me that he had a grade of F because he has not resolved either of the 2 files they have on him. Mr. Shipler has not contacted me nor has he reimbursed me. Paint The USA is extremely over priced, poorly run and when it comes to the owner's knowledge of his own products and his willingness to provide customer service, he fails miserably. My recommendation is to stay far away from this company for either paint or gutter jobs.

It went great. I couldn't believe how good of a job they did. It could not have turned out any better. They cleaned up their mess, too. There was nothing left when they were done with the job.

Overall, the experience went well. They were done within the time frame they said they would be, and all the materials were what they said they would be. I think they had to reschedule once, but it wasn't because of an issue with them. I didn't have any problems and their prices were reasonable, about within range as other companies. I would recommend them to others!

First of all they were dressed very professional. covered everything, protected all valuables. Removed light fixtures.
they always let us know when they were leaving and coming. Always double checked colors with us to make sure we were very happy with the paint colors before starting the job.
Never had any and quot;bad wordsand quot;. In fact they would sing sometimes. Very professional. Excellent with the pets. They would always offer suggestions on things that made since to do at the same time of the work.
They would always educate us on what was going to be performed before they started, They were very careful with the landscaping.

The exterior was excellent. They were very protective of the property. They would have us move our car or anything else to make sure everything was safe.

Their work ethic was top notch. I'm handicapped and it was very important to have them understand that it would take time to take care of some things.

They made sure that we knew that they were leaving touch up paint and explained what was used where.

They were very careful to make sure things were done slowly and correctly.

This was a GREAT experience. I would use Paint The USA again. In fact, we are using them again next month to do our fence.

Overall, the project went very well. Steven Shipler from Paint the USA provided a detailed estimate that was significantly lower than his competitor's. The total cost did rise during the project due to the scope of the project having to change due to additional carpentry and repairs that needed to be done. These additional repair needs surfaced as the surfaces were being prepped, and damaged and rotted wood was exposed. The project started in April and ran through November before it was finally completed. This was not due to any issues with Paint The USA but rather with my constant conflicts with work and travel. Steven and his teams were always professional and courteous and willing to work around my convoluted schedule and willing to go the extra mile to ensure that I was happy with the end result. I have received tons of compliments from my neighbors and even my mailman on how great the workmanship was. Steven did not require any deposit up front. Many of his competitors wanted at least 50% down. Instead, Steven stated that he would collect payment only when I was happy with the end result. I have to say that I am very happy. The house looks fantastic! The colors and quality of paint from Sherwinn Williams is exceptional. Paint the USA even provides free touch ups as long as you supply the paint, so hold on to the excess paint at the end of the job!. I would definitely recommend Paint the USA.
