Nielsen's Remodeling

I am preparing to sell my house to downsize and as expected, my Realtor asked me to tone down some of the colors in my main rooms. I checked Angie's List and called Nielsen. We made arrangements for Neilsen to come to my house that day to give me a quote. Needless to say, I wanted the work to be performed 'yesterday' lol. Neilson give me a very reasonable quote and began the work right after Chrismas. The work is excellent and the men that performed the painting were professional, hard working, and very careful. All of the rooms look fresh and clean. Neilsen's men also painted my kitchen cabinets. They were a milk washed color and I had them painted an off white . . . . now they pop! I was so pleased with Neilsen and his team that I had them come back to paint my front and back doors. I am very pleased with Neilsen's Painting and would recommend this company to anyone. We could not be happier with what Nielson and his crew did. We own a 50 year old home that had numerous areas of improvement. We have been on the fence for several years on whether to sell the house or stay in it. If we chose to stay, we knew we had a lot of daunting work ahead of us due to years of neglect. When Nielson and his team came in they completely changed our decision of what to do with the house. They made this 50 yr old home look and feel brand new and we can not even consider selling it anymore. His team was so incredibly professional and punctual and were so knowledgeable about what needed to be done. They completed the job with such perfectionism that we could not find one thing we wanted them to fix once they completed the project. We had several people give us bids on the job and we chose Nielsen because of his knowledge of what needed to be done. He was not the most inexpensive bid we got, but after he explained everything that needed to be done I quickly started to question all of the other bids. I felt as if the other companies were giving me a discounted price because I may be getting a discounted service. Nielsen's price compared to his service was incredibly comparable and at times I felt like he was underpaid due to the quality of work that he did. I don't think I can stress how happy my husband and I are with the job! We will recommend his crew to EVERYONE and I hope you choose him because you will NOT be let down!

We bought the big deal back in about August and waited until mid December to utilize. The painting contractor had moved his business to McKinney from Irving, so I did have to contact Angie's list to get the new phone #. Other than that the scheduling and actual work was done without a hitch. In fact, we hired Nielson's to come back a week later with two painters to paint all the baseboards downstairs, repair cracks and water damage leaks due to the ice storm. Their work really dressed up the house throughout, removing all the backpack damage on walls throughout our entire 5000+ sg ft home. Just remember to pick a warm day to have a lot of painting done inside because even low voc paints give off fumes.

Nielsen was very responsive. He gave me a quote and was flexible on the days and times to get the job done. His team did a great job and I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a painter.

It was easy to schedule an appointment. They were punctual and worked steadily the entire day. They even stayed a little late to finish up. They worked hard on scraping and painting the ceiling of the sun room. The ceiling was difficult to paint because it wasn't textured. They were polite and professional and cleaned everything up really well afterwards. I would recommend them.

Nielsen was a bit late because he had vehicle problems, but he called and left a message. His worker was at our house at the agreed time, but he did not come to the door until Nielsen arrived. Although they started late, they did an excellent job. The finished product is amazing, and our living room looks better than ever. I would definitely recommend Nielsen and plan to use them again.

Nielsen is fabulous. When I called him he suggesetd that I get paint samples and we would meet to decide what would work best. That was very good advice because several of the colors I thought I wanted looked horrible on the walls. We decided on the colors and rooms. The next day he showed up to mark the walls with tape showing the colors and where not to paint. He made sure that the painters understood what was to be done in each room. That extra test of understanding meant a lot to me. He checked on the painters several times over the days of work and contacted me to make sure they were doing things to my satisfaction. When the job was done he met me at the house to make sure everything was right. He even found some small things that I didn't see and fixed them right then. I have never seen such perfect edges in my life. He calls it precision edging and it truly is. I was able to change colors on a rounded edge without it looking bad. Clean up was great and I am very happy with all of the work. His coupons make the pricing very good but even for the hours over the coupon the rate was good. I would recommend Nielsen to anyone. He is a professional!

Nielson arranged a date with us and arrived, with his crew, on time and with plenty of energy and efficiency. Furniture was all moved to rooms that would be dealt with last and then the taping and plastic sheeting began. Every little thing was either moved to a closet, or carefully covered. As this is a very messy job we were fortunate enough to have access to a friend's apartment for the week. We stayed there and were very happy that we did because there is no way one could stay in the house with all the work that was being done - even though they had to be the happiest and most pleasant workers we have met in a long time. We kept in touch with Nielson by phone and email. He painted the front door too and we had a conversation on line regarding the color and shade and how it would match the brickwork etc. Such attention to detail was very much appreciated. When we returned to our home we were really surprised to see how very clean it was - as if nothing had happened. Carpets had been vacuumed and floors swept and dusted. Our experience was a good one and we would recommend Nielson to anyone. We will not enter details of the cost as every job is different. However, we will say that he was considerably less than the big companies. There is no middle-man.

Quality service began with Neilsen's site survey. His proposal was very thorough and fairly priced for the service. His personnel maintain top quality service. Very detailed prep work (covering furniture and tent prep for dust control). His crew always made sure they were performing the job to my satisfaction. At job completion, his crew made sure they left my house the way it was before they arrived. It was a please working with an honest, fair, delivery what was agreed upon company. Neilsen and his personnel will deliver what they promise. I highly recommend Neilsen's Paint & Remodeling for your paint & remodeling needs.

We were very pleased with the services performed. Crews always arrived when promised. Prep work was done thoroughly and carefully. I was initially skeptical that painting our existing cabinets would work. I envisioned brushstrokes and a mediocre looking job that just looked like a band-aid. I couldn't have been more wrong. The cabinets are beautiful! I haven't found a brushstroke yet - you would think they had been spraypainted but they were not. This was part of a larger kitchen reno and their work stands out prominently in the overall scheme because we have a lot of cabinets. The quality of the work holds its own with the new granite countertops and porcelain tile flooring. Nielsen's came in and did their work first before the flooring and countertop work. Nielsen's also then came in after the other contractors completed their countertop and flooring work and touched up any damage or issues caused by these other contractors. The finish applied to the new bathroom vanity looks great as well. The finish was sprayed on and applied after the vanity had been installed so it was done in somewhat cramped quarters and required a lot of prep so there wouldn't be collateral damage or cleanup required. It turned out great and there were no ancillary issues (such as overspray, spills, etc.). Nielsen's work was completed 5 months prior to this review being written. All the work has held up well and still looks as good today as it did when brand new. No issues or problems have been encountered. We would definitely hire Nielsen's again for another project.

The first time Nielsen came to my home we worked on surveying each room so he could write up the quotes. He really took the time to go through each space and we brain stormed ideas of what we would be possible so that I had some options. He had tons of creative ideas and his pricing was extremely fair, especially for the quality of the work performed. We hired them to start with my office and our dining room. The crew showed up on time the day that they were to start, and everything was completed in one day and on time. i could not have been happier with the results. I have had a lot of compliments, in particular on my office where we went with a bold color choice. We were so happy with the work that was done, that we have already decided to hire them to come back and paint our master bedroom and bathroom. Nielsen runs a very professional crew, and you will not be disappointed if you hire them!

Nielsen goes above and beyond any painter we have had so far. He is professional, courteous, hard-working, and experienced in what he does. His team reflects Nielsen's dedication to good service. He is flexible and was able to work with our busy schedule. His preliminary quote was clear, his final invoice was detailed and accurate. There was never a question about charges for the work they did. The quality of painting is excellent. Nielsen worked with us patiently concerning the color of the walls, applying small swatches of color to help us determine how the color would reflect in a certain room. Before painting started, we were concerned about protecting our furniture and wood floors. Nielsen's team did a fantastic job of laying out the plastic and paper so that everything was covered. There was a minor mishap when some moisture got on the wood floor through the protective paper that had been placed down. Nielsen came and fixed the flaw and there is no mark at all. He knows how to keep the customer happy. We highly recommend this company for all your paint and staining needs.

Their customer service was great. They were responsive and more than accommodating to schedule the appointment. There had been some paint on the wall from before, and I could still see the previous paint job. I had to address this problem to them and pay some extra fees to get this taken care of. Their quality assurance is something they could work on.

It went well. They should up on time and did a good job on the work.

Work was completed in a timely and professional fashion, Company was prepared to repair ceiling damage immediately if required. I appreciated their attentiveness so solving my problem. As it turned out, the ceiling damage was not that significant and work was scheduled through normal channels. The repair process was timely with excellent results. The company owner was involved providing work direction and followed up to insure the work was done right and that I (the customer) was happy.

Nielsen came out and gave a quote for touching up existing faux painting throughout the house. He was honest that the new painting might not match exactly. He and his team came exactly when they said they would be here. He took extra time to make sure the new colors would match the existing as close as possible. The finished product is amazing! The touch ups and front door all look beautiful. I will be recommending them in the future. Great price for perfect work.

Nielsen and his team were courteous and professional. I have already referred him to a friend. His team were very involved to ensure that we were happy with the job they were doing and to answer our questions. We added several extra projects to the original job and were very pleased that his pricing was extremely fair and the work was wonderful!!! We will definitely use him again! The work started at 8:30 p.m. and was finished around 5:00 p.m. I had a coupon for this work and was absolutely thrilled that I could get all this work done in one day and looks beautiful. I was so pleased to have all this work done in 1 day. I supplied the paint. The painter doing the work, Manuel was very efficient, did a great job, and good clean up. He did a great job on fixing the cracks and made sure that it was seamless. Nielsen, who is the owner, was very thorough and checked on the job several times during the day. He is very organized and seems very willing to please. I will definitely use them again. Thank you.

He showed up on time and made sure he knew exactly what we wanted. The painter was at my home all day and did a fantastic job. He made sure to cover everything and did a great job next to windows, trim, and a lot of hard to reach areas. The painter was very thorough and moved mirrors and pictures to paint behind them. Nielsen came back at the end of the day and made sure work was completed. I would definitely work with him again.

Nielsen was referred to us by the designer who was helping us with remodeling our home. In our first meeting he showed up on time and you could immediately tell that he was not simply a salesman, but a craftsman who was also taking care of estimating and selling his services. He was very professional in our interactions, and made sure he fully understood the scope of the work we wanted done. He committed to getting us a bid on the job within 48 hours, and he fulfilled that commitment, following up with a phone call shortly after emailing his bid. It turned out his bid was significantly higher than a competing bid I received, so we discussed the differences between the two proposals (e.g. his bid included two coats of paint, while the other one included one, along with other differences). I asked him to go back and see if he could do a good job for a somewhat lower price, and he was able to do so. I accepted his bid in spite of the fact that it was still somewhat higher than the best competing bid, and boy am I glad I did. The work he did in staining the new, maple cabinets was absolutely fabulous. Prior to starting the work he provided several alternative samples of stain colors and worked with me to select the one that best matched the selected flooring, counter tops and backsplash. When actually doing the work, Nielsen himself was there and led the work effort for the majority of the staining, which included several coats of stain, followed by several coats of lacquer with sanding in between. The final results are outstanding. Following the cabinet work, they painted interior walls and ceilings throughout the house, once again with a similar focus on quality that they showed with respect to the staining work. Although Nielsen was not on site for the majority of the painting, he did stop by at least once a day to be sure everything was going as planned and resolving any issues that came up along the way. His crews did a very good job, and I felt confident that he had instilled his personal commitment to quality in his crews as well. They were consistently on time, courteous and productive. Finally, he restained the existing cabinets in the master bath. Once again, he provided alternative samples of how they could look and assisted in making the final selection. This work was done by his crew who continued their focus on quality and craftsmanship. I would highly recommend Nielsen for any staining or painting job. We have already scheduled them to paint the outside of the house later on this year.

Nielsen and crew did an outstanding job. They arrived 20 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment time, waited in their vehicles and then knocked on the door, ready to go at the scheduled time. Their punctuality really impressed me. As my wife and I hadn't finalized what paint colors we were going with, Neilsen patiently provided excellent recommendations which help us select the final colors. The crew did a great job of protecting the floor, lights, fans, etc. Their attention to detail couldn't have been better and the final product was amazing. We have already asked for quotes for additional work and will definitely use them again in the very near future.

Neilsen was helpful with good suggestions. His painter did a very nice job in both rooms and cleaned up and replaced furniture afterward. When I have paintig or repair needs again I will most definitely contact Neilsen Painting & Remodeling.

Their service was very good. They were recommended by a decorator. They did a demonstration to show exactly what they cabinets would look like finished. They did a wonderful job cleaning up and keeping the mess down as much as possible.

Their service turned out well. I was out of town when they did the work, so they took care of everything. They were here when they said they would be and the workers were very dependable.

It would not be fair to anyone to say the 6 week ordeal went smoothly. But in the end we are very pleased with the work and final product. Living in and among a remodel is h****** everyone. Our house is just one year old and we had hardwood floors installed through out (that's one contractor); new cabinet doors and drawers and a couple additional ones installed (that's a second contractor) and we had Nielsen and his crew to do painting and staining. Nielsen was very approachable and engaged in the process the whole time; always asking how we liked the results and explaining the process as they went along. When we advised we didn't like something, he would listen to our concerns and fix the problems to satisfy our concerns entirely. We got the custom staining job we wanted with the correct custom stain color. Nielsen and his crew worked hard and long hours; he coordinated his time with the other contractors, to ensure the work flowed smoothly. Nielsen is very polite and professional.
