Nielsen's Remodeling

Nielsen gave us good advice on what he recommended, paint vs. gel stain. He also made up a sample board of various stains so we could see their true color. The painters did a great job, the finish is smooth and even. They were very careful to keep the dusty mess contained and covered the floor and cabinets to prevent any overspray. Nielsen stopped by most days to check on the progress and the quality of the job and to answer any questions I had. I was terribly disappointed with the paint color match and did not discover the discrepancy until late in the day when 2 coats had been put on. He did reluncantly repaint it with a better color match but in retrospect, we should have put a trail of the paint on the wall early in the week to confirm that it was a good match. I was disappointed that I had to firmly insist that the color match was not acceptable when it appeared to be very evident. In the end he was a true professional and made everything right. The quality of his work is superb!

Nielsen and crew took their time and did the job right. Even though we made a ton of changes, they were patient and accommodating. We would use them again in a heartbeat.

Nielsen and his crew came in and did exactly what we needed them to do. The new texturing looks great and the texture repairs in another room matched up with what we already had. The painting job was well done and the follow-up call and touch up work were greatly appreciated. We will have them out again to do more work for us.

Nielsen and his team painted nearly every room in my newly purchased house. His attention to detail and dedication to perfection made him stand out from quote to end product. Not only did Nielsen's team do a phenomenal job throughout the house, but they were always on time, friendly, and honest. He also was a creative problem solver. We had a jeweler's safe that would've been impossible to move, so he had his team spray behind it. Our house was built in 2003 and had been through a number of crummy DIY paint jobs. Nielsen took the name of the home builder and the year it was built so that he could match the original ceiling color. He then made clean lines from wall to ceiling. Flawless. He did not rest until he was pleased with the finished product (and he was even pickier than I was!) I had the best possible experience with Nielsen's Painting and highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in a painting job well done.

We purchased the deal here on Angie's List for 40 hours @ $999.00. Nielson responded really quickly and we had him stop by to take a look at what we wanted to accomplish. We knew going in that we probably had a little more work than 40 man-hours, but it wasn't a significant amount more. Neilson did an excellent job estimating the work to get accomplished; he communicated effectively regarding the schedule; and his team showed up early and left late every single day--making sure we stayed on schedule. In the end, it did take just a little more time than expected to finish everything up, but Neilson is a man of his word and we worked everything out amicably. We would definitely utilize his services again and we recommend him to others as well.

Initial contact not established in timely fashion. Contractor did not communicate until after Angie's List contact. After appointment set, contractor did not show up or communicate until after Angie's list contacted again. They were as nice as pie, but I prefer to work with people who's "yes" is "yes" and who consider my time as valuable as theirs.

Nielson was quick to contact me. We scheduled the job for two weeks out (June 9th and 10th). Nielson and his guys arrived on time each day. They were very professional and worked quickly to get the rooms that were my biggest priority complete. Although we moved pictures and easily to move items, they moved the larger items to the center of the room. Overall, the guys were fantastic and we have already scheduled them to come out and paint another couple of rooms. Thank you Nielson and Angie's List!

I purchased the Big Deal to have a rental home repainted. We were unable to set up a time that worked for both of us. Also, the guy who came to do the estimate took two phone calls while he was here which I thought was very unprofessional.

It was great. No muss. No fuss. Did clean work in good time. They were polite and respectful. Not arrogant like another painter I turned away. They accept credit card. I'm very happy. Highly recommended.

Nielsen showed up on time (early, in fact) to give us an estimate, he asked good questions, like do we plan on staying in the house? What quality of materials do we want? He got back to us quickly with a quote, maybe not the cheapest but it included the highest quality paint, wood, siding, etc. We initially scheduled to begin on Memorial day, I think we both forgot the day, and rescheduled for the next day. They showed up on time and got right to work, he said it should take two days but wound up taking about 3.5. They spent the entire first day replacing trim and siding, including around the entire chimney. The second day was spent caulking and power washing and finishing a few more pieces of trim. The third day they painted and did a great job covering windows, bushes and all the brick near the parts to be painted. The fourth day was about half a day and was spent touching up, cleaning all around the house and some caulking. I paid a third on the first day, a third on the second day and the last third after they were finished. It looks fantastic and comes with a three year warranty. I would highly recommend them.

Nielsen covered every surface with plastic to minimize the dust he expected when repairing the wallboard and some sanding to match the ceiling texture. He worked for over 8 hours to ensure every step dried properly before proceeding to the next. When he cleaned up, it included a good wet Swiffer around the entire area all the way to the front door to ensure he got everything clean. The patch is PERFECT! Although Nielsen has been to my house twice before (once with a Big Deal and again to install beadboard on the angled ceiling in my office to give it a beach cottage vibe) and completed great work with his team that friends and family all 'ooh' and 'ahh', the work on my ceiling is the best in my opinion because no one will every know how much it was damaged! I won't hesitate to call Nielsen for any painting needs because of his professionalism, reasonable prices and high quality.

I contacted Nielsen, the owner, and he came out for an estimate. We set a price and a date for service. He and his painters arrived on time on the agreed upon date and began to work. The painter stayed until the job was done. It looks great! I will definitely use Nielsen again.

Very professional and friendly. They were very gentle while moving my furnisher and cleaned up nicely. The holes that were patched prior to the painting were done perfectly, I could not tell where they were. I highly recommend using Neilsen's Painting & Remodeling for your next painting project.

Nielson contacted me within 48 hours of my purchase of a $999 deal for 40 hours of painting on Angie's List to schedule my appointment. He asked me several questions about what I wanted done and answered my questions concerning the work. He gave me an indication over the phone based on the information I was able to give him of approximately how much work they could get done in the 40 hours I had purchased. He told me that his painters would arrive at 8:30 on Tuesday morning. They arrived at 8:29. Once they arrived and got a look at the height of my very high ceilings, they contacted him and began moving furniture while they waited for him to arrive. Once he was there, he walked through the house with me and gave me another estimation of how much work they could get done. He never over estimated what could be done in the time provided. He then went to work patching cracks and holes in the walls while his painters moved furniture and covered floors and taped baseboards. He had two men working 10 hour days for 2 days on my project and they got even more done than I had hoped for. They were always professional. Even when Nielson was at other sights, he stayed in touch with me to ask how things were going. They finished with what Nielson and I had discussed with about 2 hours to spare so Neilson suggested that we have them paint baseboards and they were actually even able to finish most of those. They did an outstanding job. Very professional, always prompt and courteous. I would highly recommend them.

Neilsen, the owner, is trust worthy, well spoken, great appearance, informed, interested in what we had to say, courteous, not rushed and extremely helpful. The crew was knowledgeable and wasted no time during the project at our home. They were punctual in arriving and departing and they always cleaned everything up before going home in the evening. Neilsen was not always at our home with the crew, but he stayed in touch with them and he always kept the crew right on course with the work for the day. He was always just a phone call away if we needed him. I can't say enough about Neilsen and the crew. Neilsen and crew worked professionally. They completed the above work on time and in budget and we couldn't have been more pleased. The work that was completed above by Neilsen is not the entire scope of work that we are having done. To complete the work downstairs the three bedrooms, bathrooms, breakfast room and a future remodel on the kitchen will be required. We have ready expressed to Neilsen that we are wanting him to complete the painting in the next scope of work. If Neilsen isn't available when we are ready to start, we are sure that we will wait for him to do the work. He is surely one of the best contractors that we have had the privilege to work with! We will use Neilsen's Painting and Remodeling again and in the near future.

Nielsen and his staff are always professional. They arrive when they say they will, and work hard while they're on the premises. They pay attention to detail and make sure you are satisfied with the work., In addition to my pergola, Nielsen and his staff did the extensive painting on my bathroom remodel job, and did an excellent job on it.

We purchased a flat-rate day of painting, which included 2 painters for 8 hours. We discussed the job with the owner by phone before committing, and knew that there was a possibility that our project could not be completed within 8 hours. It took about 9 - 9.5 hours; we paid a little extra for the excess. We also paid for material costs. The crew arrived between 8:15 and 8:30. They began to prep the room soon thereafter while they waited for the owner to arrive with paint. Our rooms were mostly empty, but there were a few pieces of furniture that needed to be moved to the center and covered -- they handled that without problems. The owner arrived to drop off paint and give instructions regarding the job. Actual painting started at about 9:00 a.m. and by lunchtime the first coat of paint was on the walls. Second coat and trim work were handled in the afternoon hours, with the job complete by just after 6 pm. The crew was a little late coming back from lunch, taking an hour instead of a half hour. The extra half hour was initially calculated into our amount due, but when we mentioned the long lunch break to the owner at the end of the job, he adjusted the amount due accordingly. Although he was not able to stop by again at the end of our job, he encouraged us to walk through the job with the painters and also to call him in the next couple of days if we spotted any problems as we moved our belongings back into place. Overall, we were very satisfied with the paint -- lines were very clean despite popcorn ceilings, etc. The owner is extremely personable and responsive, and he has been very easy to deal with. Overall, this was an A, with a minor downgrade for punctuality based on start time and lunch. (This would not be an issue if we were strictly paying a flat-rate fee for the job, but when any part of the billing is by the hour it is an issue. If my husband had not been home to note the hours worked, we would have paid for more hours than were actually worked.) We were very satisfied by the resolution, however, and would happily hire this company again for paint jobs in the future.

I originally purchased the Big Deal for 40 hours of painting for $999 with the intent of painting two bedrooms and a living room (includes stairwell and hallway). The team arrived PROMPTLY at 8am on an ice-slick Monday morning that shocked me! They jumped right into prepping the rooms and when Nielsen arrived, we walked through the rooms detailing which paint in each and which included ceilings or not. He communicated to the two guys from his team and they jumped into painting! By the end of that first day (10 hours x 2 guys), the living room, stairwell, hallway were completely done and already cleaned up and had started prepping the two bedrooms. The next morning, they arrived again at 8am and I heard a lot of activity in the one bedroom. I found that they had fixed the gouge in the wall that the movers had created. This really impressed me with initiative to do a great job. I had expected the nail hole fills and the popped nail fixes but this level of effort really impressed me on top of the great painting they were doing. Nielsen called me at noon that second day to indicate the guys would wrap up in a few hours leaving me about 6 hours on my Big Deal so did I have any other painting I needed done. Since I was so impressed with the painting and care to my home that had been demonstrated so far, I added on a master bedroom, master bathroom and painting a bathroom cabinet with glazing. The two guys were able to prep, sand, prime the cabinet as well as begin prep of the master suite that afternoon. Nielsen came to do a walk thru of the additional areas to recommend the amount of paint to purchase as well as purchasing 50% color paint for the master ceiling. The next morning, promptly at 8am, one of the guys returned to continue prepping and painting out the cabinets with a first coat of oil paint. He was done with the master bathroom, the master ceiling and a first coat on the master walls by the end of that day. On Thursday (do I need to mention the promptness? So appreciated!), the same guy returned to apply the second coat to the cabinets and second coat on the master walls. Nielsen stopped by to show me some cabinet glazing options which was so helpful since I didn't want a heavy glaze look to them and the sample with two glaze colors really helped me make a final decision. Nielsen did a walk thru and noticed the crown moulding in the master was separated at every join so he had his guy chaulk everything and touch up the paint. Great attention to detail and concern for doing a high quality job! Friday morning, the guy came to do the glaze, asked my opinion to the look before he set it with a sealer. That was done in less than 2 hours. Nielsen came by in the afternoon for a final walk thru to inspect the work his team had completed and final payment for the additional work that I felt was very reasonably priced for the great work and care his team had shown my project and house. I look forward to other opportunities to hire Nielsen for additional painting in my home!

Everything went perfectly! Nielsen's Painting & Remodeling was amazing! I originally purchased a special on Angie's List for interior painting. I thought this would be a great test to see if this was the right contractor for me. Nielsen arrived in late January and did a walk through with me to better understand what I was looking for. We had just purchased a 20+ year old home and it needed some work, so I thought I would have him start with painting all the closets a nice clean white. I also asked for a quote on some other painting projects throughout the home. Nielsen and his crew got started about a week later and they did such a fantastic job that we decided to have them paint the trim throughout the home (4000 sqft), repair some foundation wall cracks and previous ceiling leaks, and paint a few rooms. They also re-stained my cabinets for a very competitive price. Nielsen and his team were at my house for three weeks working on projects. He even worked around other contractors I had coming in and out of the home each day. He was flexible and did what was needed to get the job done and done right. Nielsen also had great attention to detail, did a final walk through of the home touching things up and cleaned everything up when he left. Everything looked amazing. Nielsen's Painting & Remodeling was extremely professional and trustworthy. The work was also incredible. I plan on using him again in the very near future!

As soon as they came into the house they were trying to add on additional fees. We had to reschedule and they did some of the work and then came back about a month later to finish the job after I had to contact them to have them come back out. They told me that they always needed more hours to complete the job and always tried to maneuver more money out of me. I feel like I was manipulated a little bit.

The two painters were excellent, hard workers who stayed on task for the day. I had a lot of painting I was trying to fit into one day - and they were very good about managing the workload and making sure everything was finished. They ended up staying about an hour later than scheduled so I did pay a little extra ($75) for the additional time. They did a great job - quality paint job and very good with the clean-up when they were finished. I was very pleased with the work and the value I received for the purchased Deal.
