HORRIBLE. Do not use this contractor. Owner is Troy Hagar, and he will rob you! Lucky for us we got our windows, but it was not easy, the windows were ordered and were delivered to us first in the wrong color, next in single pane only (we ordered double hung). Finally they get installed, but not after we would not let him install without a permit from the city. At this point we are nervous about our windows getting complete, and find out that he is not registered with the city, and must be in order to pull a permit. So, we realize that he has not pulled permits for other jobs. He gets the permit but after the windows are installed, and the inspector comes, we fail inspection . All windows near a door should be tempered, and none of ours were. We contact Troy several times and he claims the right windows were ordered, and that he will get with the window company. Since then we have never heard from him again. In August at some point, we received a certified letter in the mail from the window manufacturer with an invoice for our windows (which we've already paid Troy for in full). My husband contacted the company and they say that Troy never paid for them and it was our responsibility to ensure he paid them for our windows. Is this not the point of a contractor? There is currently a lien out on our house for these windows we've already paid Troy for. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT DEALING WITH TROY OR LONE STAR WINDOWS. Find someone else, you'll be sorry if you give him your money, because that's all you'll be doing, handing him a check for nothing. He's a smooth talker and is very convincing, but do not let it fool you.

see above. Terrible.
Description of Work: on 12/5/2013, we contacted Troy Hagar of Lone Star Windows to have him come out and give us an estimate for replacing a broken window. He arrived the morning of 12/6/2013, inspected the window and told us it would be $768.00 to replace. He indicated he would need the money up front, preferred a check and would order the window once he had his guy come out and get the exact measurements for it. I signed the work order/contract, we wrote him a check (1092) in the amount of $768.00 (that he cashed) and he took the paperwork with him. I realized after he left that he had not left us a copy of the paperwork but had given us his business card. On 12/12/2013, I sent him a text message to let him know that we hadn't heard from anyone regarding measuring the window. On Thursday 12/12 at 11:09 am, he responded via text "sorry for the delay, have one guy that can do that type of work back up due to the past weather will get it this week he will be calling." I sent him another message via text on 12/19/2013 as we still hadn't been contacted by anyone. We received no response and sent a text message on 12/27/2013 asking when we could expect to hear from someone about the window and asking for our money to be refunded if he couldn't do the work. I called him on 12/30/2013 and he said he "couldn't believe the guy hadn't contacted us or been out here to measure the window." I sent him a text message on 1/2/2014 but received no response. I called him and left a voice mail message on 1/07/2014. I called again on 1/09/2014 and he answered his phone. I explained to him that it had been over a month and we still had a broken window. He said he "couldn't believe the guy (Phillip?) hadn't called us back" and said for me to call him the next morning if I hadn't heard from the other guy that afternoon (of 1/07). We never heard from anyone and I called him on 1/10/2014 and had to leave a voice mail. We never heard from him and attemped to contact him via phone 1/13, 1/14, 1/15, 1/17 and got no response. In addition, I sent him a text message on 1/13/2014 and also called and left a voice mail on the company voicemail (972) 596-9542. I also sent a private message through the Lone Star Window Facebook page. I called his cell phone on 1/21/2014 and he answered. When I identified myself and asked him when we could expect to get our money back, he hung up on me. I called back and it went to voicemail at which point I told him we had been more than patient and had tried to amicably work this out but that we had paid him for work that has never been done, no one would return our calls and we would be forced to take further action. I sent a final text after that on 1/21/2014 reiterating the same. Other than the one text we received from him on 12/12/2013, he has not responded to us and we've initiated all other contact. So, after having a broken window for almost two months (over the holidays with family staying here and during freezing winter weather and ice) we feel we have no other avenue but to pursue this through other channels. We have recently found someone else (hopefully more reputable than Lone Star Windows and the owner Troy Hagar) to do the work and just want our money back from Lone Star Windows. We believe these are fraudulent business practices and by cashing our check, they entered into a contract and have not done any work or delivered anything in return. We've filed a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau and are going to pursue legal action in order to get our money back.

0/09/13: We contracted with Troy Hagar of Lone Star Windows to (1) install windows bought directly from the manufacturer and (2) acquire and install additional windows. 10/21/13: The vendor's crew arrives to perform item (1) -- a week later than agreed on 10/09. The crew says the windows are the wrong size and can not be installed. They suggest we order new windows through Lone Star. We immediately call Troy to tell him of his crew's assertions and Troy agrees to not order windows under item (2) due to conflicting information about proper measurements and how to accomplish them. His crew departs. 10/25/13: The window manufacturer sends people to check the windows and measurements. They successfully install the windows. That day, we call Lone Star and tell Troy the windows are being successfully installed and to cancel our order. Lone Star agrees to cancel and provide a refund. 10/26/2013: I call to confirm cancellation. 10/29/13: I call Lone Star to ensure the refund was processed. Troy says it has been. 11/05/13: I call Troy to ask about the refund since the credit card is not showing a refund. He says he's submitted the refund request and the issue is with the credit card company. He also promises to send proof that he's submitted the refund via email. 11/10/13: No proof has arrived from Troy and my credit card still shows that the amount is payable. Dispute is filed. During this process Troy has been very friendly through out this process but nothing happens. His crew tried to upsell us and it didn't work. The windows we ordered directly from the manufacturer have gone in without trimming of either the windows or the casement as claimed was necessary by his crew. Ergo, no services were provided. Since Lone Star Windows never ordered the other replacement windows, they are out no costs. So what's the hold-up in refunding the charges to the credit card? 01/04/14: Since last post I've been promised by Gary at Lone Star that he'd email proof that he's applied to credit us. Never received the email, but our credit card was repeatedly flagged by Citi for possible fraudulent activity. Instead of a credit, they tried to bill me again -- twice. Citi suggested that I cancel the card to prevent them actually accomplishing tapping my cc. What a pain! Now, Gary is not accepting my phone calls at his cell or company lines. This is becoming the transaction from Hades!!!
Description of Work: Nothing. He applied charges to our credit card immediately upon signing. His crew arrived to perform services over a week later than agreed. Upon arrival, they refused to perform the contracted service. Vendor has agreed to refund the payment but has not actually refunded the money weeks later.
