As a General Contractor for 12 years now I have seen a lot of crazy things in the home remodeling business. This by far is in the top 5 stupidest things I have ever witnessed. I hired Ideal floors to remove carpet in a home in Flower mound (because it was a friend of mines home and I do not serve Flower mound because of geographic restrictions) to install LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) throughout the home (Roughly 2500 S.F.). I arranged for the customers larger belongings to be moved into a POD (Portable Storage unit) and stored in the driveway while the work was to be done. I sent a very detailed email to Ideal outlining measurements of each room, type of base boards where in the house. In ALL CAPS I told them I would rather replace the base boards with larger base boards than have a large gap under the base boards. I noted this because I had painters in the house painting already and it wouldn't have been a problem to install new baseboards at that time. I noted on several occasions, I did not want "Shoe mold" or ¼ Round installed next to the base boards. I think it looks cheap and not professional. The salesman from Ideal pulled the carpet back and slid a piece of the new flooring material under the base board and said it is no problem that they would build the edges the walls up with thinset to minimize the gap and caulk it. Ideal scheduled a crew to come out and install the floors and they did a beautiful job with in 3 days everything was done, except they did not caulk the base boards where they met the new floor allowing dirt to get under the base board. The customer was very satisfied with the product (we got at Nebraska Furniture Mart) that she decided she to do the Master Bathroom done same flooring and replace the fireplace surround. We were told that they had to order more materials for the extra work. Week's went by where they had time to caulk the baseboards and nobody showed up. I sent multiple text messages and emails to warn Ideal that all the furniture would be moved back into the home soon and they would have to move it all if they didn't get somebody out there to caulk the base boards. Nobody ever showed up and they said they would do it when they came out to do the bathroom floor and fireplace. We had several scheduled days where somebody was supposed to come out and do the remaining work but nobody showed up. We found out that their installer had turned the paper work in as if they did the work, but didn't? According to Ideal the materials were still in the warehouse??? Shortly, after that Ideal scheduled another installation and we waited for them to come out, but nobody showed up? This time supposedly one of their installers had stolen a van and the materials and was missing in action. This later turned out to be a lie because the installation manager had told us that the materials were never ordered in the first place? During the 3-4 week wait for the last 10% of this job to be finished, I finally escalated the situation sending approximately 25-30 emails to various people at Ideal as well as 40-50 text messages. I was basically wanting the baseboards caulked at this point and then we would finish the bathroom and fireplace myself without Ideal Floors. It took almost another 2 weeks for this to actually happen. When it did happen, I had the salesman tell me when the guys arrived, and the customer told me when they left. The duration of time they were there was a little over an hour and they had dispensed 3 cases of caulk in this amount of time. I had the customer send me pictures of the caulking job and it was the most blatant poor excuse of a job that I had ever seen. These guys had totally destroyed this great installation by getting caulk all over the place and everything. The clean up was going to be more labor intensive than just doing the caulk job by itself. There was a laptop cord that was partially stuck under the baseboard. Instead of pulling the cord out they caulked over the cord in the wall??? The customer was in tears. I was a little reluctant to have Ideal back on the property but, at this point they started knocking 25% off the remaining work, and they want to do the labor for free on the last jobs. I agreed to this as long as if it actually happens when they say it happens and we have no more flub up ups on installation and quality of work. I told the owner of Idea, that if the job was completed on time with the discounts that they had promised we would be interested. Myself and the customer would promise not to post any bad reviews of the company. I got an email stating that at this time he wanted to caulk the base boards and then do nothing else on the job and basically pull off the job and somebody else could do the Bathroom and Fireplace. This told me right away Ideal floors did not have the confidence in their crew to keep the schedule and do the job on-time. So that is why I am writing this review.
