Hutch-N-Son Painting & Drywall

Very happy with the quality of the work. Pete had the 2 workers at my home on time as promised. The flooring was protected, workers were polite and focused on the repair. Great job. I would and will use again.

My experience with Pete and his crew was fantastic. This was a big project. I had just purchased the house and it had very dated skip trowel and crows foot textures throughout. I wanted smooth walls. The first contractor I brought in refused to bid, saying it was too big of a job. The next contractor, who I originally went with, also told me that smooth walls weren't possible without spending an enormous amount of money. He offered to do an orange peel texture to cover the other texture. Long story short, it didn't go well, looked terrible and was a huge waste of money. I halted the project midway through. When Pete came to do an estimate, he assured me that they could make the walls smooth, and the estimate he provided was very reasonable. Throughout the project, I added on additional items that I wanted to have done. Every time I did so, Pete and the crew were always happy to accommodate the additional request. When installing the baseboard, Pete called to let me know that there was too big of a gap in the between wall and the hardwood floors I had just had installed. This was a faulty install on the part of the flooring company, but there wasn't an easy way to correct it because without re-installing large sections of flooring throughout the entire house. But once again Pete came to the rescue by installing shims behind the baseboard that pushed it out enough to cover the gap. The baseboard looks perfect, and I was saved what probably would have been another week of flooring contractors in my house. When the job was finished, the difference was dramatic. The walls and the trim are gorgeous. My family and friends couldn't believe the difference, and I couldn't be more pleased. My only regret is not calling Hutch-N-Son first.

It went extremely smooth. Took 1.5 days. Pete called at end of job and I advised him the workers had failed to seal windows where glass pane had shifted and rain was seeping in. He sent the guys back the next morning and it was taken care of. My sunroom now looks great and I'm most impressed w/the floor! My husband now goes out there to smoke and that's a good thing!

This is the 3rd time I've used Pete, because his team always does a great job and finishes on time. For the exterior, they power-washed the house and then painted. Inside, they moved furniture, covered everything with plastic, and painted all the ceilings. They were able to match the previous colors inside and out. They also replaced some rotted trim boards around my garage. Everything looks excellent.

Pete the owner cam right out to review the job and provided an estimate a few days later. We set up our time to start and agreed if something came up it woudl be communicated. Pet called the week prior and aksed if we coudl push back due to a delay on another job and we had no issue. His crew showed up along with Pete on Monday September 14th Alex his supervisor for the job was a pleasure to work with as he communicated as good as Pete they arrived daily at 8:30Am and worked until 6 or 6:330PM. They even worked on Saturday the work was completed on Monday the 21st as promised. We requested a few touch ups that were completed the next day. Payment was not requested up front and it was only accepted after pete knew we were sastistified. We will be using Pete and his Team for some additional work once the Bathroom remodeler is completed. I wish more contractors handled their business as Pete.

Pete and his guys came on-time, did the work well, and cleaned up. I will definitely recommend them and use them in the future.

Pete came over to provide an estimate on the work and I was shocked at how reasonably priced he was. We scheduled the work and they showed up on time, finishing the job to my complete satisfaction in a short amount of time and at no inconvenience to me. I had Pete quote out some more work inside the house and we were able to get that scheduled quickly and at a very fair price. I will continue to use Hutch-N-Son Painting and Drywall in the future.

I wanted to add a secondary lint trap and recessed dryer hookup to my laundry room. The crew showed up on time and were very nice to deal with. I found the work on this job to be very poor. Yes the painting and texture look great but the constructions and care into putting the boxes flush with the wall was very bad. After everything dried up I found the door on the secondary lint trap to be so flush with the wall that it scraps the paint and plaster off. Essentially ruining the work that they did. Instead of taking down a whole section of wall like I recommended and asked them to do they just tried to jam everything in and seal it up and use left over drywall and wood to seal the holes. Also at the bottom of the door is a giant mound from the recycled wood and plaster on top of it that does not make the wall flat or level anymore. You can feel the rise of it. So now I have a wall all nicked up, which defeats the purpose of them coming out. This type of work is a 180 degrees from the last time Pete stopped by and did an amazing job with a hole from my old air handler which was in the wall. That work is flawless because the gentlemen framed the wall and made it perfect. I have reached out to Pete to see if he can make it right, I will update my review if he does. Update 1: Pete never did reach out to me to make it right, he ended up taking my money and never giving me a decent finished project so now I need to find someone to fix the issues. Update 2: I ended up using the services of a coworker I know who use to build homes to rip out everything Pete and his crew did and we put all new pieces back into the wall and made sure it was all properly sealed. (I highly recommend dryerbox.com for this). Pete actually got back to me, I guess he was off dealing with some family issues a few states away so he was out of the loop and he came back and did mud and texture over the new drywall we put in and it looks fabulous. As I said before when it comes to fixing up a wall Pete's crew have no problem doing a solid job. I think my previous project was a little over their head in terms of what really needed to be done to make it right the first time so I am glad i got other help because I think it turned out better in the end. In the end I would still recommend Pete and his crew for any painting, texture or drywall issues. I plan on using them for my garage and few other areas.

Pete responded very quickly to our calls and the estimate was very reasonable for the scope of work. He contacted me when they had an opening, and they were able to start on the job very quickly. They worked fast to scrape the ceilings and retexture and paint the ceilings. They also painted the trim and doors in the home. They also painted the walls. We are very happy with the ceilings, trim and doors. This work was outstanding especially on the ceilings and trim! I only wish I would have used a semigloss paint on the walls at least in some areas because they have already gotten a couple of marks that are hard to clean. Overall, we are very pleased with the work and their skill level. Thank you!

Pete Hutchinson, the owner, responded promptly to visiting my home and providing an estimate for the work to be done. The work was scheduled a little more than a week later. He and his 2-man crew arrived a few minutes before their 8:30 AM scheduled time and got right to work. Once I had discussed some changes to the initial scope with Pete and his guys were underway, he left them to do the work, returning midday to check on progress. GARAGE PREP/PAINTING. HIs guys were very knowledgeable on properly preparing the garage for painting, repairing holes and other areas in need. We had done a lot of work in getting things ready for them, including emptying out the garage, taking down wire wall-shelving units, etc. They covered the installed cabinets and floors with plastic sheets taped in place. The quality gloss paint they selected covered extremely well. (Pete had called me earlier to check on whether we wanted white or off-white.) After spraying on the paint and removing the tape and plastic sheets, they carefully touched up by hand any painted areas that needed it. At our request, they left us plenty of touch-up paint. In addition, they put up garage door weather stripping around the outside of the garage door; they used a package that I had purchased from Lowe's. The only complaint I noticed later is that where they had repaired bad spots on the wall using joint compound, the paint soaked in more and thus, the gloss finish was dulled. Touching up those areas would have corrected that. ATTIC WORK. The work in the attic consisted of installing 1/2-inch plywood sheets over attic studs to facilitate walking and storing stuff in the attic, as well as 1/4-inch plywood sheets on the roof studs, to protect from where the roofing nails protruded into the attic with its very low ceiling. This work took some diligence to properly place/fit the plywood into some tight, irregular areas. They did a nice job. They also did a nice job of installing molding around the attic door covering the drop-down ladder. In summary, these folks were knowledgeable, worked carefully, and interacted well with me as I discussed the work with them, both before and during. They had planned going into a second day to complete the job, but worked hard till about 7 PM finishing everything in one day. I will use this company again if the need arises and recommend them without reservation.

I called for an estimate to re-texture the master bedroom walls. The room had previously been skim coated with wall compound and wallpapered. Most of the wallpaper had been removed when I called for the estimate. We wanted the walls completely re-textured so we could paint. The estimate for the complete job of re-texturing an approx. 16 x 20 room with 8 ft. ceilings was $450.00, which I thought was very reasonable. Then crew arrived on time with all the supplies they needed. They covered the floors and all the furniture. They closed the room off so none of the dust from the prep work would migrate through the house. When they prepared the wall, they found a large old repair that had to be completely removed and replaced. Even with the extra work, they completed on time with beautiful results. The texture was near perfect and looked better than the original texture in the rest of the house. They cleaned up and left the room in perfect condition. I will definitely call Hutch-N-Son anytime I need any additional work. They were timely, well prepared, worked quickly and did everything for the exact amount of the original quote.

We've chosen them as one of our local preferred vendors if I need something as far as drywall or anything else like that for my Dallas/Fort Worth stores. Their pricing was reasonable. We haven't had any problems with them. We will continue to use him unless something happens where his prices will go up or his work quality goes down.

Draped off area where work was done and covered walkways for the crew. Worked efficiently and completed project much faster than expected. Found another area with damaged ceiling in garage and they patched this 4 sq ft area, replacing drywall, tape and bed, texture and paint for $100 (including all materials and trip to get drywall at store). Worked Saturday at my request. Returned Monday to paint surfaces. In and out, with excellent clean-up. Will be engaging them for work at my home that I have been putting off.

His 07/28/13 bid email had his references of BBB, Chamber of Commerce, and Best Painting Contractor in Plano by the Plano Star Courier and star Media. He bid quickly, explained his preference for high gloss paint, and pointed out damage he would fix; no need to hire a carpenter. The final balance was requested 08/08/2013 on completion. One chosen paint color was from a stain sample, and did not translate well into paint. His crew quickly noted mother's dislike of the color and notified Pete, who called me before I had even received a call from mother. I am still amazed at his business acumen that call represents. He was back soon with the correct hue. At end of the job, I had no complaints from mother about trash, damaged plants, or paint on the brick or porch concrete. Started, finished, quality work done so quickly, I had no time for nerves. Thanks Pete.

I advised Hutch and Son that their bid was well above that of other market bids submitted and received no response.

I contacted Pete for an estimate to have a room textured and painted. The first appointment was made for a Monday at 6PM. Around 6:20 when no one had shown up yet (after I'd left work early to sit and wait), I decided to call and ask what was going on. It was obviously he had completely forgotten when I called. He apparently had a rough day traveling and it slipped his mind. He called the following day to apologize again and to offer to come back out. I'm not one to give second chances, but I figured life happens sometimes and it didn't seem like this was his regular course of business. So, I rescheduled for Friday, July 5th. I again left work a little early to meet him. HE DID NOT SHOW UP, AGAIN!! I did not receive a phone call this time. However, I did come home from running errands on Saturday to find his card at my front door. I suppose he thought he could just randomly show up and if I were home I'd let him do the estimate anyway. If your time is important to you, just call someone else. I was looking to find someone less expensive....I quickly discovered, reliability is entirely worth the cost.

After another contractor had worked on my ceiling repair daily for 3 weeks and left it looking much worse than when he started, I called Pete Hutchinson. He was prompt in returning my call and came out the same day to assess the work to be done. He submitted a written estimate to me within 24 hours outlining in detail how he would execute the repairs, something the first contractor had not done. Pete scheduled a day the following week that was convenient to me. He and his crew showed up on time, and completed the ceiling repair in about 4 hours and the chimney scraping and painting in an additional hour or so. The workers were very diligent and careful in covering and protecting everything before they started the actual repair. They did an outstanding job matching the popcorn texture and paint of the existing ceiling and an excellent job of painting the chimney. You simply cannot see where the repair work was done on the ceiling. Pete and his entire crew were professional, polite and courteous. I would highly recommend Hutch-N-Son for painting and drywall repair. I will most assuredly use them again.

Excellent responsiveness, on time, on budget and great quality. I was so happy wiht their work that I gave them a recommendation to our realtor as a preferred contractor she could recommend for others needing some work done around their home before putting their house on the market.

I was VERY pleased with the work that they performed. They were much less expensive the other two companies that provided estimates. They showed up when they said they would, and performed very high quality work. Since I had to replace the sheetrock on the lower 2 feet of most of the walls, I was concerned that the texture would not match. Hutch-N-Son made the repair so you cannot tell there was ever any damage. One morning, one of their workers noticed that I was struggling to replace one of the outside windows. He mentioned that he used to install windows and offered to help me on his lunch hour. I took him up on his offer, expecting to pay him for his assistance. Not only did he do an excellent job of installing the window, but he refused to take any money for it. I was overwhelmed by his generosity. But, it was really reflective of the type of company that Hutch-N-Son is. I will definitely use them for all of my future drywall and painting work.

I am not pleased with the drywall work that they did. We had a contractor put a marble floor in my bathroom, it had to be ripped out and re-installed. I am still out 250 dollars; they have not paid me for that. The painter that they had, painted some of the doors put heavy coats of paint on it so now when I open my doors they pop. One of the doors has splintered and torn it off. If they respond positively I will use them again in the future.
