We provided the paint and stain and they did the job. They called prior to arriving at the time discussed. They were systematic and their experience yielded great results on the fence. They prevented the stain from getting anywhere but on the fence, which was significant, as our fence is installed on top of a 4' Austin stone wall. They also did a great job of working around and protecting the plants. Walter was fastidious in his task at repainting the back door. He removed the hardware, sanded and did a great job of seamless painting. We appreciated the job done and plan to have Walter do more work in the future, as do our neighbors.

The work they did was adequate; it was not great. I spent about $500. The price was fine. I am not sure if I will use them in the future.

Walter will earn my business again shortly. He's a very kind individual and a very hard worker. He's honest and takes pride in his work. I'm glad I met him through this site and look forward to using his excellent painting skills again.

I contacted Walter after noticing that he specialized in older homes. Walter's price estimate was very much in line with the majority of bids that I received, however my deciding factor was that Walter went far beyond what others were going to do for the same price. When talking to Walter, nothing was a problem. Without being asked, he offered to repair a missing slate in a wood shutter that others had insisted could not be repaired. Walter had told me he would completely power wash my house as part of the painting prep, again, with out being asked, he also power washed my entire driveway at no additional charge! While other painters told me there was nothing that could be done about paint that had been carelessly brushed onto the brick around every window and door during a previous paint job, Walter said it would be no problem to clean the brick. Walter also suggested painting my back patio and front steps black and both turned out beautifully! Walter and his team were wonderful to work with and and I am totally delighted with the end result.

We noticed a gentleman painting another home on our street. Then we noticed he painted two more homes. We figured he must be good so we stopped him one day as we drove by and asked for his contact information. Very soon thereafter, we decided to have the inside of our home repainted so we called that gentleman -- Mr. Barber. He promptly returned our call from an out-of-state job. He arrived promptly on the day and time we had arranged. He listemed very intently to our wishes and visions for our home, talked it over with us, gave us lots of references for his work, and gave us a very thorough, written estimate, had us review it and sign it. We couldn't be more pleased with his work!! He and his team (he had 3 men) swooped in, removed, covered, organized, and prepared everything for painting. They prepped, and caulked, and taped, and plastered and smoothed. Then they painted what seemed like miles and miles of trim, floor boards, doors, chair railings, window boxes, spindles on the stairs and overlooking 2nd floor landing and hallways. Then the walls and ceilings just seemed to glow as the paint rolled on. Our walls and ceilings exude a beautiful calm -- the transformation is just heavenly. Mr. Barber takes tremendous pride in his craft (and he is a master) which is evident not only in the finished product (our home) but also in his expectations and inspection of his team's work. Mr. Barber worked right along side his men from early morning through the evening -- checking their and his own work, asking our input, suggesting changes where necessary and totally supporting us when a color I had picked didn't look good. His attention to detail, meticulousness, and commitment to excellence is extremely rare in a service provider. My husband and I are two type-A perfectionists yet we had no concerns whatsoever when Mr. Barber and his men began to work. It was an amazing experience for us -- since we did not have to monitor or stay on top of him and his team. I would pay Mr. Barber to follow me anywhere in the world to paint my home because I don't think I will ever find anyone like him again.

My experience with Walter was not good. Family members are his helpers. They left messes while the work was being performed. He asked for advances which were not in compliance with the agreement. When finished, he has not come back to correct the sloppy work that was done or to repair the gutter which was damaged.

He was fabulous. He gave me the best price. He undercut the lowest person by about 400 bucks. It was fabulous. He scraped the whole thing. I was expecting him to paint over it, but he didn't do that. He and his buddy scraped every single inch and they painted my house, and they did it all in two days. I took several bids to have my house painted on the exterior. It had not been painted in twenty years so there were at least two coats of paint already on the fascia, the shutters and the door. He scraped the entire thing, every inch that was to be painted, he scraped by hand. He power washed everything and then painted it all beautifully. He did it with his partner or his worker in two days. He was as cheery as you could be. He was just happy to have the work. He was extremely professional, courteous and just really great. He left a huge impression on me. I had a lot of remodeling done in 2007and 2008 and of all the contractors I had and I probably had six or seven, he was by far the best.

Walter was hired to remove wallpaper from two bathrooms and then texture / paint. He advised it required three days to complete this job. Coincidentally, I had three days off on the days he was able to schedule me in. The very 1st day of work, Walter and his partner came to my place about an hour late. Not a very good impression to start off on. Both of them worked continually for the next seven hours in the master bathroom with minimal break. I noticed the paint on the door frames were peeling due to excessive liquid solution they were putting on the wallpaper. On the 2nd day, again, late. Walter and his partner finish removing the wallpaper in the master bath... minus the few strips here and there still intact. They moved onto the other bathroom and begin removing the wallpaper. After couple of hours, Walter left and said he'll be back shortly. Couple hours go by and he finally returned. Walter moved onto texturing the master bath while his partner continued working on the other bath. Day 3, compared to the past two days, they were early . Walter painted and caulked the master bath. He textured the other bath and advised he would have to paint the following day which extended the job completion date. Day 4, they return and completed the other bath. I noticed the blue tape used for the edges were not completely removed before paint / caulk. Some of the edges were not painted, i.e. around mirrors. The texturing in certain areas seemed like it was not even done, very inconsistent work. As the saying goes, I got what I paid for. The paint on the door frames were left blistered and peeled. Another reviewer stated Walter liked to over promise and under deliver. I agree with this statement wholeheartedly. Many have stated you can smell the odor of cigarette on or about Walter. This is true but even with me being allergic to smoke, it didn't bother me too much. He smoked outside of the house at all times.

Was advised by Walter he would drop his partner off on Wednesday, 05/05/10 around noon to remove three old sink faucets and replace it with what I've bought. Wednesday came around and no show. Rather than him calling me, I had to call him to find what happened. Walter advised he was still working at another job so he would have to come by around 17:00. Around 17:00, no show. I called again and this time, he advised he would show up the following day. On Thursday, another no show from Walter and his partner. I called and left a voicemail. I never received a call back. I wasted two days, oh joy! I left a review for Walter under interior paint. The overall experience was subpar but the price was decent enough for me to put up with him. Not anymore, there are too many others who deserve work...

Walter came when he said he would to give an estimate. I had an estimate from another contractor. Walter's estimate was significantly lower. The deck was pressure washed to remove the old paint. It was then primed and painted. One piece of wood was rotting. It was replaced. Chimney was inspected to see if any wood needed replacing. Wood seemed fine and it was just repainted. Walter is very pleasant to talk to and obviously loves his work. A couple of times he did not show up when he said he would. Since I wanted to be home when the work was being done (although it was not necessary) and it was during weekdays, those delays were frustrating. They spray painted the deck. Although we moved the patio furniture out of the way, the wind must have blown the paint and the furntiture was covered with paint dots from the spray painting. It took us a couple of hours to get the paint off (we did not want to use any harsh chemicals in case it damaged the finish). I think the furniture should have been covered during spray painting. Overall though a good experience. I would certaintly consider them again for any future work.

Submitted a request for a drywall estimate to Mr. Barber last week. Have not received a follow up phone call OR e-mail response to date (4/28/10) to schedule anything. Will not be contacting him again, poor customer service.

Walter arrived on time for the inital estimate; the estimate was the lowest I recieved; there were some delays in starting the job due to the weather; but he was good about communicating with me; What impressed me the most was how good a job they did caulking and prepping the home! They removed nails, repaired rotted wood, sanded, primed and caulked all the windows and doors. The attention to detail was impressive. Walter and his team really take pride in the job they do.

Walter was extremity considerate, always kept me informed about scheduling and was punctual. He was very thorough and explained problems that he found and suggestions to correct it. Walter and his crew did a very good job and kept everything clean after the job was completed. If you want a good job done at a reasonable price, just call Walter.

Walter and his team completely and beautifully transformed someone else's home into ours! Walter takes deep pride in the quality of his work and it shows! His artistry shines through. Walter sets high expectations for himself, his team and the homeowner and he meets them. Walter is very easy to work with before, during and after the project. We are so thankful we found him on Angie's List. Walter is very reasonable regarding price. We received bids that were double or more than Walter's. However, by taking into accout the experiences of other Angie's List subscribers, we felt confident that Walter and his team would do a great job and a great price. We were not disappointed. Walter is our painter as long as he pursues his craft! We happily have and continue to recommend Walter to friends/family/co-workers

This is the second time we have used Walter. When we ask him if he can do the work we need done he always says, "no problem", and he is right. Walter (as well as his friend Major, who helps him some times) is great. He is a perfectionist, who takes great pride in his work. He always does little extras for us. He works very diligently at all tasks, and really wants to get everything right. There were a couple of spots where we did not like the texturing, and he repaired them with no complaints or problems. And the bonus with Walter, he is a pleasure to work with. I have nothing but the highest praise and will continue to use him

We have two story house with 20-ft ceilings in certain areas [5-bedroom;4-full baths, 3-living.areas, sun room, 3-car gar and at least 40 drawers]. Mr Barber and his associate painted the above with flair and professionalism. We would classify him as "Master Painter" no less. His skill couple with his friendly and positive attitude toward attaining the best that he can be are rare attributes in this age. He did everything with passion and pride to the job and very easy going. We will without reservation recommend him to the Willow Bend home owner association's listing as a top notch contractor. Walter helped me pick the colors and used the highest quality paint. His experience showed in the quality of the paint strokes as well as any repairs he had to do prior to painting. It took about 10 days total. I was not in any hurry so I didn't mind if Walter had to balance my job with others that he had.

Walter is very professional. He worked with us each step of the way. He did an excellent job in all respects. Did a few extra things for which he did not charge us. Takes great pride in his work. It took him a bit longer to finish the job, but he had some issues with a knee problem come up, that prevented him from completing the work in the amount of time he had alloted.

Mr. Barber and his team were great. He went way beyond covering up colors that didn't suit me. He repaired seams and cracks, replaced texture and made the place look amazing. Working with Mr. Barber was easy, I paid a deposit and the balance when he finished. The job was done in about a week and they left my house cleaner than they found it. I can't recommend Mr. Barber enough. If you're lucky enough to get him for your project, just let him do his thing. He's a perfectionist and won't be happy, or finished until he's satisfied. He's also been doing this for so long that he knows all the ins and outs. I thought his advice before painting was as valuable as the painting and he didn't charge anything for it.

We contacted Walter on a Tuesday and asked him to come by on Friday for an estimate. He called us back promptly and we scheduled a meeting for 9am. We got a call at 8:30am on the scheduled day...he said that there was a death in the family and he couldn't make it and he asked if he could come the following day at 10am. We agreed to reschedule and he showed up 10 minutes early on the scheduled day. Walter is very likeable, knowledgable, and personable. After we showed him around and chatted, he said he'd have to call us back on Sunday or Monday with an estimate. He said he left someone in the car with the car running and that he had to finish a job in Highland Park because they were holding back $1200 of his pay until the job was done. Then he said he'd like to come back Monday to give the estimate...we told him to be certain to call first and schedule something with us. Needless to say, we haven't heard from him since. We had hoped to use him to paint the whole house and we told him we were painting the house in phases. If we do happen to hear from him we won't use him. It's too much trouble and I don't like to chase people around to do their job. Also, he smelled like smoke and the smell lingered in my house for a couple of hours.

This guy is a flake. I booked Walter so that I could get my projects completed when I was on vacation from work. He was late for his scheduled appointment, so I called him to see if he was coming. He said that his good friend's wife had a 2nd stroke and asked him to go to the hospital and he couldn't make it---I said "no problem" and we re-scheduled for the following day. Again, he was late the next day, and I called him. He said that he had been so so busy at work that he was running behind. He indicated that he would come over later in the afternoon and I reluctantly agreed. He then called back and said that, given our conflicts, that it was more important to him for us to be friends than to work together and that I should find someone else to complete my projects.......I've never met you, weirdo. I agreed with him that he shouldn't do the work and hung up the phone. What a disappointment---he had no regard for my time and set me back weeks in completing the projects. Why not just turn down a job rather than pull 2 no-shows and keep making excuses for not showing up???

Rather than just patch the cracks in the sheetrock, he cut out the areas and replaced the sheetrock, taped and bedded so it looks like new. He then painted both the master bedroom and bath, including the ceiling, all the molding, and the closet which includes shelving. A very professional job. Walter was courteous and punctual and left the place clean.

He would be an excellent choice if you didn't need immediate work done.

Walter and his team are professionals! They're courteous, easy to get along with, and cleaned up their work area before they left. He was ontime for the most part. I think Angie's list has him quite busy and that's a good thing because he's worth it. If you are looking for any handy work in your home Walter's the guy. You won't go wrong.
