We had Fence Makeovers come to our house for an estimate to repair and stain our fence. After we were convinced that our plants wouldn't be harmed, we scheduled the work to be done. There was a misunderstanding about what we wanted done at first, so instead of having the crew come in one day to complete all the work, they came on a Friday for the repairs, which took about four hours, and we had to reschedule for the following Monday for the cleaning and staining, which took several more hours. The work, when completed on the Monday afternoon, was great! We were very pleased with the appearance of the fence. We do think they could have done a little less overspray on the grass, but it didn't appear to harm the grass or plants next to the fence. A couple of mowings will take care of our stained grass. Also, the crew left a couple of sprayers in our yard, which required a third visit. Overall, the work appears to be of high quality, we are pleased with the appearance of our fence, and we would recommend Fence Makeovers to our friends for fence repairs and staining.

Prompt and completed work better than I expected.

They were very punctual and even though there was a lot of damage from windstorms in the area, they could handle my job.

The job went well. They were efficient and fast, and they got the work done in the time that they said they would. They used pieces of wood to prop up the posts while the concrete dried and they said they would be back to get them, but they never came and now I have extra wood. When I replace my fence, I will probably use them.

As of 9/9/2011 I have not proceeded with putting up a fence. But I do plan on using FenceMakeovers when the time comes. In the mean time I have other more critical home improvement projects other than fixing an old broken rotting fence. But I will use him soon enough.

Stain job was okay but Repair/Replacement work was just too poor.

I called Fence Makeover when our fence was starting to show signs of needing a new stain on it. Robert Gonzalez (company owner) came out and gave us an estimate. Work was completed soon after, and when I got home I found fence stain on my garage door, driveway, and all the metal post that the fence connect to. I called Robert about the issues we had, and his crew came back out to remedy the situation. The posts were still stained when they left , but Robert assured me that rain would wash that off over time. He promised to warranty his work for 2 full years. Fast forward one year later. After only 1 year, the stain will come off on your hand and clothes if you touch the fence. Clearly, the stain can be seen coming off the top of the fence as well. When I called Robert to come take a look at it, he had more excuses than a battered wife. 1 It must be squirrels 2. No wait, hail damage 3. This is due to fading from the sunlight. ( What was I thinking, I should have moved the fence indoors) 4. There is no sign of mildew, so its not my problem. 5 I can see raw wood, but it's not grey, so whats the problem? I think Mr Robert Gonzalez has a hard time taking responsibility for his poor workmanship I believe the problems lie in the fact that the prep work was not done correctly to begin with, thus the stain is coming off.

I received a quote within a couple of days and the work was scheduled within about 6 biz days. Robert is very congenial, quick with his quote and an enjoyable conversationalist. The workers came and left while I was out of the house. They left a bill on the door with a three day grace period. I discovered an issue (basically due to the fence discoloration from sprinklers), and Robert returned within 3 days to inspect. As with another reviewer, he has left me with some stain. I am happy with this resolution. I have used Fence Makeovers before and will continue to use them in the future. I had also found that the stain had been somehow 'rinsed' onto some cushions on my chaise lounges. He said he will send his guys to fix the cushions. I expect that they will be fine. (I got the feeling he would replace them if I am not satisfied, but I don't think he is aware of the cost of these cushions!) I'll also add, that for a second, I thought he was going to argue that the area of the cushions affected was on the bottom side of the cushion...thus potentially changing his mind on cleaning them. So, I had a glimpse of the discussions that the negative reviewer pointed out. I got an extension on the three day late fee when I requested it. I felt that I should pay (Robert directly) for the complete job once my concerns had been addressed. Ruth (I think) in the office seemed almost reluctant to accept this arrangement, but none-the-less, she did. This is a well run operation in a cash run industry - I am completely happy with this service. Could you find some one cheaper? Most likely. But, if you do, you risk quality and attention to the customer.

After I had my fence repaired and stained it looked great! But 3 months later when the weather got hot I noticed my fence was fading at a rapid pace. When I called Robert he came out to look at the fence and he immediately seemed very irritated and was very short with me. He commented on how the sprinklers were causing the problem. He never verbally told me to redirect the sprinklers off the fence. When I did look at the fine print of the contract it does indicate that they are not responsible if your sprinklers are close to your fence. It does state in their ad that their stain does repel water??? My fault.. Should have read the contract..However there are other areas of the fence that are not in contact with sprinklers and it is fading from the sun. When I asked Robert when they could come out and restain it (at my cost) He sniffed that it was going to take too much time for his crew and he could just bring me some stain and I could re-stain it myself. I will never use this company again or recommend it to any of my neighbors!!

Just took one day to get an estimate. Robert takes pride in his company and his work and is definitely low pressure. It is easy to tell that he knows what he is doing, exudes confidence. This isn't a "side job", this is his profession. My decision to hire him was so easy after talking with him for just a few minutes. My fence was installed, a year ago, by someone who didn't really know what he was doing, now out of business, thankfully! Fence Makeovers was able to make that horrible fence look decent and I so appreciate it. Thank you Angie's List for the info on this company, wish I would have known about you when I had the fence built!

Work started as scheduled and was completed in less time than allowed. I asked that excess soil be removed in alley and that was done neatly and promptly.

Robert and his crew were awesome. They did exactly what they said they would do and on time. We had a small problem and Robert came back that day, and had one of his team correct the problem the very same day. I would refer him to anyone that is thinking of having their wooden fence replaced. We were going to have our fence replaced at a cost of 10K, Robert saved us over 8K and it looks brand new.

The repair was done on time and for a good price. The results are excelent. My own employees are asking if we have a new fence. The workers left some nails sticking out and a broken saw blade in our school playground, but they corrected the problem when I pointed it out.
