Once a plan was drawn and agreed to, she put me in touch with an actual landscaping company that installed the plants. This company, Meribeth Flowers Landscaping, was, again, easy to work with.
Description of Work: Carrie Dubberley listened to my landscaping needs, worked with all the deferred maintenance as well as the necessary speed that was required, and came up with a plan on how to add color and interest to our surroundings.

Their personal attention stands out. They wouldn't start the work any day without telling my wife or me what they were going to do that day. We also were involved in selection the water tolerant plants that would be used in the garden. They were able to install very efficient engineering methods to optimize the effectiveness of our garden. I will use them again in the future.
Description of Work: I used Dubberly Landscape to completely remove half of my front yard and replaced it with a rain garden, including attaching PVC material to collect more rain from the roof of the house and channel it into the rain garden.

I had a drainage issue in my backyard that was causing my fence to lean. Don Dubberley came by and suggest we level before we install expensive drains. He thought that maybe if we leveled out the yard that would fix my drainage issue. So far so good. The backyard is nice and level the sod is taking nicely. They do great work and are very professional. The crew he had even cleaned out some of my beds for me. I plan on having them back to do some new beds and stonework out front. Overall, I am more that pleased with the work and level of communication from Dubberley Landscape. Don and his wife Carrie are a pleasure to work with.
Description of Work: Assess and repair a drainage issue in my backyard which was causing my fence to lean.
We want to do a couple of innovative ideas in our front yard, but needed some help with the execution of our ideas. Carrie Dubberley met with me to look at our property and evaluate it as a prospective site for a rain garden. Turns out, we had an ideal location. Two downspouts from the guttering were on either side of our garage, allowing them to be easily diverted into a channel creating by reshaping the soil. And we had a gentle slope away from the house toward the front curb. The combination allowed Don Dubberley and his crew to dig a wide shallow trench (in our rock hard caliche clay soil!), add expanded shale to improve the water-retention properties of the soil, and built a shallow berm on the downhill side of the bed. It is arc-shaped and filled with plants native to this area. That is important because natives are able to withstand the occasional downpour and really wet soil for a few days, along with the extended dry periods in between showers. In fact they thrive on these conditions. Carrie chose a diverse mix of colors and textures which should make our front yard a show-stopper landscape in years to come. At either end of the arc, a few feet of river rock are placed to show the water as it comes out of the downspouts and reduce erosion effects. When finished with construction, they removed the excess soil and used my existing mulch to cover the project nicely. It looks very neatly done. They also watered it in thoroughly as no rain was predicted that week. The very next day, I was thrilled to see two large red Texas Star hibiscus blooms! What a lovely bonus at the end of this growing season. :) Knowing it is important not to overwater plants that like dry feet, I have kept a close eye to see if I should water again. Only once did I get a gallon jug to water one plant, and that was on October 22. Yesterday (Oct 23) we finally got a rain. 1.25" in our gauge and a lovely pond in our rain garden. YAY! The water came about halfway up the berm, so we could probably have had a 3" rain and it would have held it all. It took a little over 10 hours for the water to soak in. Looks like we will spend very little on water for that part of our landscape in the future! The next part of our plan is to add a flagstone patio near the rain garden. We want to be able to sit out front and visit with our neighbors as they walk by--and show off our rain garden, too, of course! Carrie Dubberley is also providing us a quote for the second phase of our project. We can hardly wait!
Description of Work: Design and install a rain garden in our front yard. (Rain gardens are a water conserving technique that prevents runoff during storms, retaining the water long enough to soak into the soil instead of running off the land quickly.)

I wasn’t here while they did the work but the trees look great. There were a couple of left over spots that they came back and did.
Description of Work: Dubberley Landscape did some tree trimming. They did three large trees and three to four smaller trees.
The crew arrived at the scheduled time and began the work of digging trenches for the underground pipe, and manually shoveling out the area that would become the rain garden. At the end of each work day the area was left very clean. Some heavy rains delayed the project but the Dubberley's would stop by daily to ensure that everything was all right, and not being affected by the heavy rains. Actual work took 4-days. The results were exactly as planned and as we expected. The crew was very professional and it was easy to see that they cared about the project and had respect for the landscape that they were installing. They were perfectionists.
Description of Work: Dubberley Landscaping prepared a complete plan to solve drainage problems around our house. After we reviewed and approved the plan they installed several items at different locations including a completely landscaped "rain garden" (i.e., water conservation, containment pond), underground drain pipes to drain into the rain garden, pop-heads to move the downspout water well away from the house and a rain barrel to capture rain water from the roof and store it for future use.
