 + -1 moreThe company had given me an appt time of 9 o'clock am. At 9:30 when they had not arrived or called, I called them to ask when they were coming. They told me they would be here by 10. I said "but my appt was at 9?" He said it was actually between 9 and 10 but that's not what I was told when I made the appt. Aside from that, I feel like they should have called to let me know when exactly they were coming if it wasn't right at 9. I wouldn't recommend this company.

The technician called to confirm he was on his way and again to let me know he'd be 15 min. late (but he was well-within the original 1 hour window.) He was professional, courteous, and prompt. I really appreciated his phone calls to update me on his arrival.
Description of Work: My a/c was blowing only warm air. DT quickly diagnosed the problem - needed new capacitor (he had the part on his truck). He recommended 2 lbs. of Freon. The whole visit took about 20 minutes. I believe there was only a $10 charge for Sunday visit - well worth it on 100 degree day!

 + -1 moreExcellent. I have found a new A/C company that's I am going to use and recommend in the future. Called early Saturday morning and Dana said he'd be over by 4pm. I said it's 8am and already over 100...he said I'll be there by 10AM. He showed up at 9:30, spent one hour troubleshooting, fixing (it was short in thermostat caused by paper clips that had fallen behind the unit), topping off freon for all units. Honest, dependable, trustworthy. Wish there were more like him.
Description of Work: One A/C unit stopped blowing cool air. The breakers weren't tripped, the unit was running, but air was very hot (hotter than outside in July in Texas :-)

 + -1 moreMy compressor was not starting although the fan was working...so I was not getting cold air in the house. I called DT at 3:50 (they close at 4 on Saturday) and Dana told me he would be out between 5-7. He called back at 4:15 and said he would arrive in 10 minutes. He was done in 20 minutes and I had cold air! I give a B on price, not because Dana charged too much, but generally it is my opinion that HVAC guys charge too much because they can! Dana charged a good rate for market ($69 service call on the weekend) and $159 for the part. Dana was great for picking up my job on such short notice late on a Saturday, and I would use DT Air Conditioning and Heating again.

 + -1 moreI found DT Air via Angie's list and was VERY pleased with the overal experience. I had been going around in circles with another big name HVAC company for 2 weeks trying to get a status on warranty replacement coils for my units only to hear "it's on backorder" from them every time. After getting tired of sleeping in a 90 degree house at night, I called Dana on a Friday morning with the part information. He called me back later that day and told me they would be there on Monday to install. Believe it or not, he was true to his word and showed up and got my systems up and running again. Fogot to mention that I was a "preferred customer" with the other HVAC company which not only gave me priority service (ha!) but also a 15% discount over their normal pricing. Well, DT's final price was $500 less than their "special" price. Bottom line, Dana is honest, professional and most importantly follows through on his commitments. He's my HVAC guy from here on out. Thanks Angie's List!

 + -1 moreI called them for a maintenance check, and they came and repaired the frion leak with the upstairs unit. The disconnect box on the downstairs unit was burnt out, and when he tried to replace that, the compressor burnt out. It was a little difficult, especially considering that it was working when he arrived and not when he left. They replaced and repaired everything for $3,300 later. He was very apologetic about what had happened on site, and he was very professional about it. He gave me several ways to resolve it, and never came off like her was just trying to make money off of us. He definitely did fine, it was just an unfortunate situation.
Description of Work: They repaired my upstairs unit and replaced my downstairs unit.

Description of Work: the A/C for the kitchen and family rooms went out - only blowing hot air. checked the entire unit, found a blown capacitor, replaced it, cleaned the outside unit, turned it back on and voila!! cold air!!

 + -1 moreCalled DT Air Conditioning on Saturday morning and talked to Dana Tovi. He gave me a one-hour time window for a service call on Saturday afternoon. Dana called when he was on his way and arrived during the time window he had given that morning. He diagnosed and replaced the bad capacitor in ten minutes. Then he checked over my A/C system and pronounced that eveything was working normally. Overall, a very pleasant and painless service call and repair.

Description of Work: A/C stopped working. They diagnosed it and it turned out to be a blower motor. They checked the refrigerant level too. I appreciate very much that they did not try to sell me stuff that I did not need to be done. I am very happy with a responsiveness and professionalism. I would highly recommend them.

Checked existing unit and told us the cost to repair would be high and he couldn't guarantee it would work much longer as it was so old. Showed us options for replacement and discussed which would be best for our house. Once we agreed to the unit, he scheduled installation for the next day. Workmen arrived when scheduled and went right to work. They worked straight through until complete and cleaned up their mess. We now have a cool, comfortable house!
Description of Work: Installed new Heat/AC unit including new thermostat. First came out and checked old unit and told us what it would cost to repair compared with buying new unit. We agreed to purchase new unit and they came the next day and installed it.

 + -1 moreMy heater wouldn't come on. I called the night before to request an appointment and was told that the service person would be here between 9-11. My only caveat was that he didn't come until nearly 11:00 after I called. However, he did the work quickly and for a reasonable price. He also didn't try to "upsell" me on other services. I'm satisfied and will call them again, but hopefully just for routinie maintainence.

 + -1 moreOverall service was great. He is hard to understand but was very honest.
Description of Work: My 13 year old system was leaking freon and my electric bill was way too high. After calling several AC companies. DT air gave me the best price. My old ac/heating unit was 10 seer with a 4 ton furnice. I explained to DT how two rooms were not cooling enough in the summer and was the coldest rooms in the winter. He suggested to replace two ducts with larger ducts and to connect it directly from the new unit. Also told him I was looking for a unit that will qualify for the 1500 tax deduction. He suggested a 17 seer 2 stage carrier and 5 ton furnice that had the humidity control with a infinity temperature control. The original estimate he gave me was for 9,700 with 10% off wich brought down to 8730. At the time carrier was offering a 350 rebate offer. I so my total out of pocket for brand new system was 6,880 for a new system, duct work and he also installed dampners directly on the unit so I can controll the air flow to certain rooms. I can't wait to see how much I will be saving in the summer time.

Dana was professional on the phone and was able to come over within a couple of hours. He knew what to look for and quickly found the problem was a bad capacitor. Luckily he had one on hand and was able to get the AC unit up and running in less than an hour. I had a great experience with this business and will certainly call them next time.

Owner Dana came over on Sunday and tried to repair, but starter kept tripping so he convinced me that fixing 20 year old AC unit with new compressor wasn't worthwhile. He scheduled and completed installation of new Payne AC unit and Carrier coils the following Tuesday.
Description of Work: Installation of new Payne 5 ton AC unit and evaporator coils. Also installed new thermostat that I bought at Home Depot.

When technician got here, inspected inside and out and made requisite comments about age of system (10 yrs), possible replacement etc. Asked him to check freon--was #4 lo, added freon works perfectly. Used Angies discount. I thought service call price was higher than advertised competitors, but they were polite, not hi pressure, on time.

 + -1 moreI had an air conditioning unit that was freezing up. I called Dana and he said he could be out the next day, but would try to make it that day. A few hours later he called to say he was 10 minutes from my house. We met and he quickly diagnosed the problem. Although my HVAC is over 12 years old, he did not try to sell me a new one. Instead, he recommended a "quick fix" and suggested I monitor how the unit cools this summer. While he was at our house I asked him to inspect our other outside unit. Again, instead of recommending an expensive solution, he cleaned the unit and added freon. In the end, he added a combined 7 pounds of freon to my two systems and cleaned one of them. I would say he spent about an hour at my house explaining what was going on and answering questions. Overall, it was a great experience. Dana was professional and courteous. I never felt pressured, and in fact felt his diagnosis and recommendations wer with my best interest in mind.

 + -1 moreWhen my downstairs A/C unit failed, in my pre-Angie's List days, I didn't know where to turn, so I called a company that had Ads and coupons in the Yellow Pages. Oh, man. What a mistake. So I joined Angie's List and found Dana Tovi's company, DT Air conditioning and Heating. What a difference. His diagnosis was the same as Als (dead condensor/compressor, probably due to old age) but the price quoted was $2015 versus $5454 from another heating & a/c company. THAT'S $3,439 LESS !!! And DT replaced the slab and dealt with all the permits. Wow!

 + -1 moreI too found this company on Angie's List and Dana himself came to do the repairs. I was expecting really bad news; this is a unit that came with the house and is probably over 20 years old. First he checked the thermostat (that I had installed myself) and he, in the process, corrected my mistakes (mounting, not functional ones) and that did not correct the problem. Then he spent quite a bit of time in the outside unit and eventually replaced the much worn out capacitor. But in the process he again tightened and replaced a few bolts - making the unit run more effectively. He could have easily told me (quite correctly) that I needed a new unit, but he performed the cost effective repair and THEN told me I needed to start thinking about a new unit. He checked upstairs to make sure he had checked everything and, at my request, sent an estimate for a new unit (some time in the future). I was VERY impressed.

 + -1 moreCame home from a short vacation to find my air conditioner was not working. This was 9pm on a Monday night. I located DT on Angie's List, along with a few other companies. I called and left messages on each company's voice mail around 10pm. At 11pm I received a call from DT and scheduled a service for the next day between 1-3pm. Received a call at 11am to say he could be there in one half hour. The tech arrived on time. He diagnosed the problem and had it repaired in less than a half hour. I later learned it was the owner of the company, Dana who made my service call. I was prepared for an ugly bill, but it turned out it was something small. It was fixed in less than 30 minutes and for under $200.00. He honored the Angie's List coupon with no hassle. I felt if was fair and fast. I would recommend.
Description of Work: Air Conditioning not running at all. Turned out I needed a replacement of the dual capacitor.
