DFW Improved

Description of Work: Converted dinning room into a utility room. They knocked out a half wall, and replaced it with a full wall and pocket door. Moved all of the plumbing and venting for the washing machine and dryer. Replaced the crown molding and installed new baseboards for the new wall. Interlaced new hardwood in areas where the half wall had been. Retextured the entire room and the adjoining room. | |They were incredible! Everyone was on time, friendly and highly skilled. I had access to the project manager and they were willing to flex with minor changes I requested halfway through. Everyone offered suggestions along the way that helped me to make informed decisions and then followed up to make sure that I was pleased with the outcome. I definitely plan to use them in the future and wish I was in a position to use them again right now!

Description of Work: We contracted with DFW Improved for a complete kitchen remodel. DFW Improved reps, and their subcontractors, were consistently courteous, professional, and responsive to our concerns, and the final product looks great overall. In addition, although we thought the quoted price a bit high, the project came in nearly on-budget, which is nearly unheard of in my remodeling experience. | |However, as is not uncommon with larger remodeling jobs, it took nearly twice as long as originally estimated for work to be completed. In addition, while DFW Improved was responsive, we did feel our Punch List grew too long, and that it was too often necessary to have them come back and redo items. Thought I'll grant that this too is a common complaint after any remodeling job. | |However, we also expressed concerns about the durability of a finish, which wasn't looking at all like we expected, as it was being applied to the custom cabinets. Sure enough, the finish has already begun to chip, marring the appearance of the most expensive item in the whole project. | |Finally, and most concerning, is that it became apparent late in the process that no permits had been pulled with the city, meaning no inspections were done at the end. I suspect a city building inspector would have caught the wiring job which was not up to code, and which we later paid another contractor to fix, after appliance in the kitchen quit working for no apparent reason. | |All in all, while I might use DFW Improved again, we would be much more demanding and provide much stricter oversight than we did on this job.

Description of Work: Paint & cosmetic repair to home interior. | |Needed to be in the house within the week and they marshaled the labor and materials to make it happen. Get Job.

Description of Work: We had DFW Improved come out to bid a job for us. They were very responsive, punctual and professional. They provided us with a well done bid. However, we ultimately went with another contractor because DFW Improved's bid was 40% more than our other contractor for the same project and detail.

Description of Work: Repaired our shower. They were amazing. Seriously. I dont review many things (my first on AL), but these guys were incredibly professional, courteous, walked us through process and decisions. And the quality of the work was top notch. They dont cut corners. They came back for follow up work months afterwards, were very effective and charged us nothing. Damon was the Project Manager. Get him if you can. He is fantastic. These guys aren't cheap, but they were worth every penny of those $7K :-)

Description of Work: They painted my house and covered old wood with new hardyboard. The job was kind of complex and the project manager was on top of every phase. They were really patient with my color choice process and assisted. That was in 2011 and we're still happy with the results.

Description of Work: Starting at the front door, we had a raised entry torn out and the front door lowered so the whole house is now one level. We removed walls and added a family room, opening up the area between the kitchen and family room. All new flooring through out, new doors and trim, popcorn removed from ceilings and paint. My Mom lives with us, in her bathroom we had the tub removed and put in a walk in shower. DFW walked up through each step from the initial consultation to construction. They were on time, there for questions, professional and on schedule. We have one last room to do, the master bath and will be using DFW Improved again.

Description of Work: Experience with design representative was mediocre to poor. Some specifications provided by rep to project manager were opposite of what we asked for. Texturing of walls was sloppy in areas that were difficult to do. Installation of floor took three attempts. Installation of plumbing fixtures was amateurish and we are holding our breath that after the third trip by the plumber the plumbing will still be working in the years to come. Due to initial work having to be re-done throughout the project, it took approximately 10 weeks to complete the remodeling of the master bath. One the positive side, the custom cabinets are awesome. But, the mirror frames which were beautiful before being attached to the walls, were nailed to the walls instead of glued which resulted in numerous noticeable nail holes around the frames. An attempt was made to cover up the holes, but there are still several noticeable holes. The project manager was wonderful to work with and he did everything possible to correct all the "issues" that arose during the renovation. Considering the price we paid, I don't think the results justified the cost.

Description of Work: so far we have just gotten estimates from DFW Improved but I have been impressed with their thoroughness and professionalism so far.

Description of Work: I used them 3 months ago. I had them build out a closet inside the master, they built some shelving inside the closet, and I had them add another closet to the house.

Description of Work: Not every project will go well. IF a project is going to go sideways, DFW Improved is the company you want to be working with. If it could go wrong, it did, while replacing my 15' X 20' patio cover and adjoining fascia boards. At the end of the day, DFW Improved was dead serious when they said they stand behind their work and would do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to get the job done right and the customer satisfied. The 'B' overall rating is due to a 4 day project taking 4 months - but, again, they stand behind their work and will do whatever it takes, for as long as it takes, to get the job done right and the customer satisfied. I HIGHLY recommend DFW Improved and Doug Spiger in particular!

Description of Work: They remodeled my son's bathroom - it started out fine but eventually got worse because of time table & quality of work on some of the areas.

Description of Work: I had to become my own project manager. Work was sloppy, there was no attention payed to detail. Project should have been completed in 6 weeks. It took 3 months. Would not recommend and would not use again.

Description of Work: Replaced 35 yr old walls/fence. Original estimate was too high and they looked for solutions to get the cost down, but not affect quality. |

Description of Work: DFW Improved handled a major addition to our house. Our contacts, Scott and Gary, worked diligently to hit a deadline we placed on the project. They promptly returned calls and quickly handled last minute modification we made to the project. | |We definitely plan on using them again and recommend them other homeowners.

Description of Work: Did our two color exterior painting including all prep of power washing, replacing rotted wood, and recaulking. Also we had just had new floors installed throughout the house and had the flooring company remove the old baseboard moulding and replace with new taller finger-jointed pine. DFW Improved primed and painted all of the baseboard and replaced or repaired a few window sills, priming and painting them as well. | |It went great! I highly recommend them! They worked quickly and kept our home clean throughout the process! They were here everyday when they said they would be and the job was completed faster than I expected it could be. We'll have them back for other jobs in the future!
