Great! Very professional from start to finish. Had four estimates done, DFW Improved was the cheapest of all of them. They showed up for every appt on time and even early. They finished the job when they promised. There was a couple of areas of our hard wood floors that were messed up during the painting process which they promptly had their floor guy repair.

Greg was very helpful and responsive. He came to give me a quote within a couple of days from when I called. He showed up right on time, before I had to leave for work, enabling me to get to work on time. He gave me a very fair price that same morning and let me know their availability. We were able to schedule it within 4 business days of providing the quote. Greg showed up with the painter, right on time, went through everything with the painter, made sure everything was clear and understood. The painted did a very good job, was clean, cleaned up after, put blinds and switch plates back, etc. he was a very very hard worker. Greg followed up during the day to make sure everything was going well and came by at the end of the day to see the work and ensure my satisfaction. It was a very, very positive experience and I wouldn't hestitate to use them again or recommend DFW Improved to anyone.

Overall, the experience was OK, but the quality was not up to expectation. Although Ron and Greg were very professional, the quality of the work that their employees did was not very good. I'm writing this review several months after the work was done, and I continue to find areas of disappointment, mainly in the quality of the paint work that was done. Lot's of "the paint isn't where it should be" items due to lack of masking, poor attention to detail, and just plain laziness. The back side of the water tank cover on my toilet is covered with paint, for example. This was not noticed until I had to take the cover off to address an internal issue, though. It is not obvious until you remove it and see all the paint on the back. Some may say, "who cares? You can't see it". I say, "why paint something that was not supposed to be painted? Why didn't you take the cover off before you painted?" Another issue was the framed mirror in the bathroom. I had to change some light bulbs which required be to stand on top of the sink. When I was up there, I could see the top of the molding around the mirror and there was paint all over it. This is not obvious when you are standing on the floor, but it certainly is when you get up there and look at it. To me, this is just another area where they decided to be lazy because they didn't want to take the time to mask something that you don't normally see. Regarding the electrical work in the garage, that was done great for the most part. There was one electrical box that pulled out of the wall, though. I'm sure they would have addressed this, but I never brought it up since it's easy enough for me to fix.

Everything went great. DFW improved was very professional and in constant contact and they worked hard to fit my schedule of times when I could be available at the house for them. I would definitely call them again in the future for any other remodeling needs.
Description of Work: We had DFW Improved replace the Master Bath bathtub, and put in new granite counter tops in the Master Bath and our kitchen. They also installed new Master Bath sinks and shower fixtures and did all the drywall repair after the plumbing repairs/replacements. They also removed the back splash in the kitchen in preparation for us to replace this ourselves.

I did extensive research before choosing DFWi. I had drawn plans and knew what I wanted. I spoke with about 15 contractors over an eight week period and did background checks on about half of them. I checked Angie's list, BBB, licenses, etc.. DFWi was easy to communicate with, had a good rep, and very reasonable prices. (There was a wide range of cost estimates across contractors, so it paid to shop.) DFWi signed up to match our exsting cabinets with some new cabinets. Some conntractors didn't want to touch this and just wanted to gut the kitchen and put in all new cabinets. Matching the stain required a few passes to get right. For a time we wondered if it was going to work. HOWEVER, DFWi wanted us to be happy; they did not want us to "settle" for it's "okay I guess". They proved that customer satisfaction was not just words to them. We did make some changes along the way. DFWi was very fair on the cost adjustments. The cost increases were all traceable to specific things, and the vast majority of changes were due to us making changes, very little in the way of surprises (a soffit in the guest bath was doubling as an air return and we had to deal with that since the soffit was cominng down.) I'm pleased with the final cost. The project was estimated to take a nominal 6 weeks and came in at about 8, which to me was on target, considering the changes and stain matching iterations. Our friends have been "wowed" by the finished job and the few that knew what we spent were even more impressed. Easy to work with, reasonable pricing, quality resullts --- what else do you want? P.S. If you've ever done a remodel of this scope you know things happen over the course of two months and even if it doesn't surface, there is stress in having your house torn up and living in a construction zone (I work at home.) DFWi did a good job in keeping the dust contained and cleaning up the site regularly. However, even with best efforts there will be dust - everywhere. DFWi swept and dusted regulary. IN ADDITION, DFWi brought in a professional cleaning crew - twice which really helped my wife's stress level, we've remodeled before and weren't looking forward to the clean up. Throughout the job DFWi was always courteous and professional.

I requested a quote for the work through Angie's List and Gary Simms responded for DFW Improved. He came to the house to take a look at the job and gave me a quote. We set up a date of May 1 for the work to be started. A few days later I realized I had a prior commitment on that day, so I contacted Gary and he was very cooperative in setting up a new schedule date. The painters arrived on the morning of May 14 and got right to work. They prepared the surfaces for painting and actually got started on the painting, then around noon a huge rainstorm blew in and they had to stop. Unfortunately, some of the paint wasn't quite dry enough and the rain washed it away. No worries, they came back the next day and repainted what the rain had ruined and continued on to finish the job. They did a great job and cleaned up the area when they were finished. Gary came back and inspected the job to make sure it was done to specifications.Overall, a very good experience and I would definitely use this company again.

Response from DFW Improved
We acknowledge there were issues with the carpentry work during the process, specifically at the front porch area. It did take multiple trips to resolve these issues to ensure project was complete to Members satisfaction. At the time of final walk through the member approved the work as complete & even discussed hiring us for other projects inside the home. This was not the best experience we have ever delivered, unfortunately remodeling is not a perfect science. We even went so far as to deviate from normal company policies & procedures to accommodate the Member. Upon completion we were given the impression that everything was satisfactory. Had we understood the level of his frustration we would have taken measures at that time to make it right.

We had water damage to our living room ceiling due to our air conditioner leaking. After contacting DFW through Angie's List, Gary was quick to respond and came out to give me an estimate. He was flexible with my schedule and I could always count on an e-mail for any questions or feedback I needed. The job was quick and the repair was done to my satisfaction. I liked that after the work was done, Gary contacted my via phone to make sure everything was done correctly. Thank you!

Everything was done very professionally. First 2 days was drywall work that included taping and filling large cracks at joints, filling small nail pops, chalking, and repairing popcorn ceilings. The painters were brought in a few days later and completed all the painting and touch up work, including areas of the popcorn ceiling, in 2 full days. The lead painter made a great recommendation regarding the touch up paint ( to use extra flat that I had rather than the eggshell I had picked out) to keep the repairs in the bedrooms less obvious. I am very pleased with the beautiful results. Gary Simms called me each day that workers were here to let me know how each stage was going and to see if I had any questions or concerns. What a great experience!

They scratched my stone floor when they moved my buffet and got paint on a very expensive piece of furniture. I didn't know about the paint on the furniture until it was too late. They did offer to pay for the scratch, but I wanted to choose the repair person so then they paid for it. They were large limestone tiles so the repair person sanded it out and sealed it. DFW slid the buffet instead of picking it up which is how they got the scratch. They didn't move furniture and they caused paint to run down the side of my bed, but I just found that and it can't be fixed. What I hired them to do they did do a good job with. They did everything they could do to remedy what happened, I also know things happen. The management was very responsive and they did everything they could to make me happy. They don't use subcontractors, they are their own employees and that is important to me. I would hire them again as long as they pay close attention to what they are doing.

Ron came out and took a look. Unlike the other estimates we received, he came on his own instead of meeting us, and emailed our estimate. While it was very prompt, it didn't allow for us to ask any questions on site. The quote was the cheapest of the four we received. The biggest concern about it was that it didn't mention any wood repair or replacement. Since we were concerned going in that some of the wood was in need of attention, this was a deal breaker. We still would consider using them again, but for other services they provide, such as concrete work we're considering.

Not only was DFW Improved on time for an estimate appointment, they were more thorough than any other contractors I met with. They made sure to point out areas of concern that were not obvious to me and were very professional and friendly. DFW Improved was able to adress ALL repair issue for my water damage, walls, ceilings, roof, floors, trim and molding, texture and painting. I did not have to deal with multiple contractors and bids. all service technicians were prompt and professional, at times I had to leave my home while they worked and had no issues with security of my home. The roof replacement took just over 3 days (we have a very large and complex roofline) and their was no debris left behind, no damage to my landscape. I was called as soon as the final interior repair was made and asked to walk through and list any areas I was unhappy with. There were none, the work was exceptional. I will use DFW Improved again!

The weather was an interference for the project, and DFW Improved did a very good job of ducking the worsening weather and completing the project in a minimal amount of time. The painter who did the caulking and painting was quite diligent. He even caulked my chimney and nailed-down some errant shingles. And he was amazingly fast. The project manager, Tom, was very skilled with the doors; he was even able to correct the backdoor in a wall that was not straight and with a door portal that was not square nor level. The old gutters were quickly removed, and the painted areas were pressure washed in one day. The new facia boards were quickly put in place and the painting completed. While we were waiting for the the facia board to be delivered, the plasterer fixed the damaged interior wall and expertly corrected the hallway walls. I only proffered the additional work after having seen the quality of the work of the originally specified proposal; Ron updated the proposed costs with each additional item; and everyone involved arrived and worked when they said they would. At last, the gutters were also installed as expertly as the rest of the work that had been done. My house looks great, and I would definitely recommend DFW Improved, particularly for projects involving diverse and multiple items.
Description of Work: I originally contacted DFW Improved to get an estimate for replacing my gutters and painting the exterior of my home. Ron called and set up an appointment and arrived on time. He also e-mailed a proposal the next day. The original proposal was for removing the gutters, pressure washing the old paint, caulking, and painting the exterior. After the old gutters had been removed and the to-be-painted surfaces pressure washed, we found that the facia board was missing, to my chagrin (a former owner had evidently thought they were saving money). Thus began a number of change orders for the project. In addition, I asked about a possible installation of a new front door and a reinstallation of a badly installed backdoor. DFW Improved had the new facia board delivered very quickly, and the boards were installed. I purchased a new front door, and Tom, the project manager, expertly installed it and corrected the problems with the back door. I also asked for a bid to repair a damaged interior wall and front hallway walls where we had removed wallpaper that had allowed itself to be well removed only in some places.
Excellent! These guys are top notch! I think they may have even cleaned the toilet. :) They were prompt, answer phone calls and emails almost immediately. Overall, quite an extrodinary experience working with contractors.

For those who don't want to read a lot, I will start by saying that this company is great! From the first phone call to the last nail, they did everything they promised, on time and with professionalism. We had already decided what doors we wanted and had priced what we "thought" would be the right type of door at Home Depot but decided after reading the other reports on DFW that we would call just to see if they were any less expensive. First of all, they returned our call promptly and were at our house when they said they would be to give an estimate. After briefly talking to Gary, we knew immediately that he knew what he was talking about and quickly realized our original idea was not going to be the best thing to do in the long run. We decided to go with DFW Service Solutions and Gary came to the house again to get the exact measurements of the doors. In addition, he brought Tom, who would be doing the installation, with him so that we could meet him and discuss the timing of the installation once the doors came in. To make a long story short, the doors came in about a week early and this company was so accomodating to arrange the installation around whatever was convenient for us. Then when it came time to actually install them, Tom was here on time, both days, did excellent work and cleaned up after the job was completed. There is nothing negative we can say about this company! In fact, we feel fortunate to have found a company that really does what they say they will do and have already discussed other projects with them. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who wants to work with someone that is knowledgeable, professional and customer service oriented! And to top it off, their work was great!
