We already had experience with several contractors that simply didn't show up or showed but never submitted a bid. DFW Improved was an entirely different experience. They showed up the first time exactly when promised and provided the bid exactly when promised. Once we committed to the project, we were told it would be complete within two weeks. I was a little skeptical. Nothing happened the first week as the custom cabinets/bookshelves were being built in a shop. They asked to come in at the beginning of the second week and the complete installation was done in a single day. This included moving two electrical outlets, crown molding around the room and all cabinets. It took us a couple of days to pick a stain and the installation was stained on Friday of the second week. They promised a two week completion and it was done. During the process we were updated with email and/or phone calls. We never had to wonder when something was going to happen. They were very detailed in what to expect and made suggestions that we had not thought about. I worked in home construction and remodeling prior to college and was very impressed with the quality of the work. The quality of the work and customer service exceeded my expectations in every way. Without a doubt, this is the best contractor I have ever worked with.
Description of Work: We had floor to ceiling bookshelves and cabinets with a built in desk installed in our home office. Two electrical outlets were moved and crown molding was installed to match the bookshelves.

I called DFW Improved about 3 months ago for an estimate on repair of my brick porch. I had the great pleasure of meeting Garrett Lambert from DFW Improved at that time. While assessing my porch, he suggested that I might have a foundation problem and if that were so it would be futile to repair the brick as it would only crack again. I already had it repaired by another company about three years ago! Well, I did have a foundation problem and then a plumbing problem, both taken care of by companies I found through Angie's List. I called Garrett back after all this was done, he came out right away, gave me an estimate on the spot. He even came up with a solution to my problem. My old brick was destroyed, so it would be a matter of trying to match the brick and tearing up the entire porch. Garrett suggested that perhaps slate might be a better option. I was very concerned with the price as I had already put all that money out with the foundation and the plumbing. I was delighted that his idea would be faster and less expensive. I was very concerned with the safety issue with the hole in the front porch although I kept it well lit. I got this estimate before the horrible weather hit Dallas so I just knew that all the work would probably have to be rescheduled to a later date, but to my surprise the original schedule was still on. I had my porch repaired on 2/8/11, as scheduled, and before the second storm hit. I am very pleased with the results and the wonderful care and consideration I received from Garrett Lambert and DFW Improved.
Description of Work: Repaired large hole, resulting from foundation repair, in front porch. Resurfaced entire porch and step with slate.

Great job on all accounts. Came out on Friday to complete vent work in the attic (too cold to do roofing work b/c of possible shingle damage in colder weather) and then came out on Monday to complete the roofing work. So far, everything looks great with no issues. I will ultimately see if the leak stops once it rains again and I bet that it will.
Description of Work: Replaced 4 boot coverings on roof exhaust points (one was leaking into the house) and covered/sealed gable vents with insulation/expanding foam to properly maximize the air flow from my soffit and ridge vents.

I found them on Angie's List and this was the only time that I used them. I did not think that it was a good price. Originally, they were quite a bit higher but the problem was with the job. My interaction with them was very poor overall. I did not like their timeliness and their estimate of when they could get done. They were not even close as they said that they would get it done in a day and it took three weeks. They had three or four different contractors that they called. They e-mailed me the day before and told me that they were not going to be there the next day morning. I had taken time off from my work. As far as the work went, it was okay but it was overpriced. It took way too long. Eventually, the owner came by with four men to apologize for all the problems that were caused and he took $500 off from the bill. Even with that, it was pretty disastrous.
Description of Work: I have used the services of DFW Improved/OKC Improved in December 2010. They repaired a chimney in my house.

Response from DFW Improved
We were schedule to begin project on Dec. 1st & on that day our men showed up & replaced the siding on the chimney. Our normal supplier for fireplaces & chimney flue pipe did not want to take on the liability for a flue pipe that they neither installed nor carried the parts for. This was the cause of the initial delay. To further compound the problem it took us approx. 8 days to get a contractor out on Firday (Dec. 10th) to preform the work & the client was not home. On the following Monday (13th) the flue pipe was replaced & representative from our company met with the client & substantially discounted the project to compensate him for his inconvience. By Wednesday (15th) all repairs were completed & the chimney had been caulked & painted bringing the job to a close. This is exactly 14 days after our agreed start date. Bottom line is, due to a supplier issue we made a promise that we could not keep on the timeline & apparently our discount did little to save face as the client still seems upset with the duration of the project, but is fine with the quality of the job performed. He had a right to be upset, but we thought we made it right.

This was a great experience for us. Gary and Corey were very quick to respond and provide a quote. They were flexible with the scheduling and their crew (Mario and Brian) managed to finish the work in one day. The project was very well organized and we knew exactly what to expect once the work started. Everyone we encountered was polite, on time, and eager to please. We are very happy with the results and will call them for future projects.

A crew arrived early on the day promised and began replacing the window seat. The drywall crew arrived a couple of hours later and replaced the damaged drywall. In both cases, the work was completed quickly and efficiently. The workers did not wear shoes in the house and cleaned the area when they were finished. I would definitely use these guys again. The work was better than promised.

Gary Simms and Garrett Lambert divided the project into two phases per my request considering my work schedule. The craftsmen they sent were very professional and very considerate of my home and personal property. Any issues and/or revisions were promptly and professionally addressed. I am very happy with the entire project and my experience with DFW Improved. I highly recommend them for any home repair/remodeling needs.
Description of Work: The house has approximately 2,150 square feet of gross living area. All of the acoustic texture (popcorn) ceilings were removed and the ceilings retextured with a knock down texture to match the walls and repainted. Crown mold was added to the family room and over the fireplace in the game room/den. The kitchen wallpaper was replaced with new texture and paint. All minor wall cracks were repaired and repainted to match in the entire house. The kitchen and wet bar cabinets were sanded and polycoated. All kithchen and wet bar cabinet drawer boxes were replaced and the hardware replaced with soft close drawer glides. Upon completion the entire house was professionally cleaned.

There was a detailed and complete bid. The work started on schedule. The workers were careful, unobtrusive, and thorough. The end of the work was not specifically scheduled but the repairs and the painting were done without significant delays. The painting was completed expeditiously by working over both days of a weekend. The work was completed as bid or as changed pursuant to agreement.
Description of Work: Exterior repairs to rotted or otherwise damaged wood siding, porch roofing, and doors, exterior painting including preparation to wood and brick. The exterior required a lot of preparation since it had been a long time since the house had been last painted.

We are currently leased in this house and we phoned our land lord and informed him about the situation. He asked us to find a company and we did that and they came out the other day. They were very professional and very good at what they did. We don't know exactly what the cost was, because we were passed on to the owner of the house in Alabama, but we were very impressed with the debut. We would highly recommend the company. In fact, my wife and I were leasing in North Dallas in May when we had to move. If we find something that we are able to move in to, we would definitely use this company if we needed any type of roof repair or that type of thing because they are very good. We would say that the owner never complained about us; so, evidently he was pleased with what they quoted him and ended up charging him so, we guess the price was on the positive side. We got them on the internet. We browsed through and read some testimonials on some of the companies. A few of them had some bad reports on some other leak repairers and we ended up going to DFW Improved/OKC Improved. It looked like they had good reports. So, we called them and had a great conversation with the general manager. He in turn sent a technician out here to give us an estimate. They in turn sent the actual labor to come out here and fix the problem. We will use them in the future as well.
Description of Work: We used DFW Improved/OKC Improved a month ago. We had a roof leak in our den. They came out and repaired the leak by the chimney area and repainted the chimney.

Originally called Gary to provide an estimate to paint new built-in cabinets and walls in gameroom, stairway and foyer. Gary promptly stopped by the house and provided a written estimate. Due to cost we ended up painting gameroom cabinets and walls only. The painters showed up on the agreed upon day, tented the room and sprayed the cabinets with a single coat of paint. Not happy with the results. Gary and his painters were called and they promptly stopped by the house, reviewed the work and agreed that another coat was needed. The painters tented the room again and applied a second coat of paint to the cabinets. They then finished painting the rest of the room. End result was a great paint job that I could not have done myself at a more than fair price. I will definitely call Gary again to finish the rest of the painting when we are ready to do so.

I called DFW Improved for a quote and met Ron Price at my house shortly thereafter. Ron took a look at the problem, both inside and out, asked appropriate questions, and treated me with respect. After he sent me the quote, which was exactly the same as what he quoted me in person, I decided to use them for the task of fixing my roof. The work was completed within a week. And since it rained quite a bit on Saturday, this provided a perfect test for their repairs. I'm happy to report that there was no sign of leakage this weekend!
Description of Work: I had a leak somewhere in my roof that has caused some water damage in my house. I had tried to fix this issue myself several times. As I was unsuccessful and needed the job done correctly, I decided to go with professional help.

Garrett showed up at the scheduled time. The worker was about 20 mins late, but had good reason. While we waited, I had Garrett provide estimates on future work wanting done. He even fixed a stricker plate on a doort for me for free while we waited for the worker. The worker installed the pendent lighting in the kitchen and was very conscientious and percise doing his job. I was so impressed by the workers ability, I requested an onsite bid for removing and installing two ceiling fans and installing two replacement fans (total 4 fans). The bid was very reasonable, so I had that work done as well. The entire job was done professionally and thouroughly and they also cleaned up after themselves. They did not damage anything while completing the work and I would definitely hire this company again. My only low mark, B for responsiveness, is a result of the delay in returning my original call/email requesting contact regarding a bid on the lighting installation. It took two or three days to get a call and I had actually given up on them and reached out for additional bids when Garrett called. I am extremely glad I gave them another chance, because the delay was a result of Garrett being sick.
Description of Work: Called DFW to get estimate to install 3 pendent lights in kitchen. Received estimate and it was very reasonable compared to other estimates. Bid was excepted and on day of the scheduled work, one of the owners showed up at scheduled time. The worker was about 20 mins late, but had good reason. While we waited, I had Garrett provide estimates on future work wanting done. The worker installed the lighting and was very conscientious and percise. Things began well when I contacted their office with an explanation of the service I was looking for, and the receptionist took my phone number for one of their contractors to call me back. I promptly received a call back from Chad, and we set up an appointment for several days later. That morning, however, he called to say he was having issues with cement on another job and could we please reschedule? I agreed to reschedule for mid-day on the following Monday, which required some serious reshuffling on my part but seemed worth it considering the good Angie's List reviews. But then Monday, 15 minutes prior to the appointment, Chad called requesting another reschedule, citing personal reasons. Had I been called earlier in the day I might have considered it, but at this point I decided I'd rather try someone else.

The estimator communicated well with me to set up a mutually agreeable date for the estimate. He showed up on time and quickly learned what areas I wanted to have painted. He pointed out some minor window trim areas which could use replacement. They sent me the quote along with the Angie's List discount they offer. I compared their quote with others that I had received and agreed to have this contractor handle the job. On the scheduled work date, they showed up and got to work quickly and efficiently. I was very pleased with their attention to detail and efforts to get the job done right. The painter worked with me to ensure the paint color was exactly right. I would use their service again, if necessary.

This is the same as my "description of services" but I will duplicate so all information is conveyed. The windows in my office and in my kids' room had separated from the drywall. In the office, the crack was leaking water into the house. DFW Improved responded quickly to my inquiry via Angie's List and gave me some immediate advice on what to do. Then, they scheduled time according to my schedule, in order to review the problem. While they were on site, I explained that my wall edges were "popped" out. The thin metal strip that forms the edge of my walls had popped out the paint and plaster in about 30 or 40 places in my house. In some instances, the plaster had fallen off the wall in one inch strips. What did they do? Some of the work was ceiling, some on 2cd story walls. DFW Improved first had a team come and work on the flashing and roof edges around the leak in the window frame. Then, the inspected and repaired lots of spots in my mortar and bricks. They stripped some bad caulking on the windows and caulked every window on the outside of the house front, sides and back. On Thursday, Garrett, my contact at DFW, had a second team come in and cut out the water damaged window framing and replace it, patching it extremely well. The marked the 30 or 40 spots on the house where cracks were appearing or popped wall edges existed. They caulked all the impacted windows. Then they did an amazing job of repairing all the cracks everywhere in the house (using lots of painter plastic to protect our tables and lighting fixtures, carpets, and other furniture). They had pre-coordinated with me to make sure I had lots of matching paint for the two colors of blue, the two colors of brown, the white wall edging and the main wall paint (Summertime) color. On Friday the painter came and again put down lots of painter's plastic and painted and filled cracks that were not major - completing the job in our timeframe - making the whole house appear perfect. He went above and beyond - suggesting various spots that could be painted within the allotted time and existing contract (not additional charges). Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend this team to anyone wanting to get their house in excellent condition to live in or to sell.

had to replace our front sidewalk due to buckling from the roots of two mature live oak trees. Ron Price came out and discussed the options and made suggestions as to correcting the grade, and redesigning the curve of the walk to accommodate the trees and showed us what salt finish and stained concrete was. Gave us the addresses of people in the Plano area who had also used DFWImproved for their concrete project and when we liked the results. Ron dropped off some samples of actual stained concrete and checked with us on our choice. Scheduled the removal of the previous walkway, graded, installed the cushion of sand, framed and installed rebar and then Nature intervened with rain. Ron kept in touch, and was right there when the weather cleared and made sure conditions were right and had the concrete poured. Then we had the salt finish and stain applied and then the sealer was applied. We love the look of our walk and have had many compliments from neighbors. We would use Ron and his company again.

When I dealt with this company it was called DFW Improved/ DFW Service with a Prosper, Texas address. The employees who did the siding & painting were very efficient and competent, so I would recommend them or use them again. However, I did have a problem with the project scheduling. The project took twice as long as proposed because workers arrived only every other day (scheduled to work elsewhere?).

Estimate was performed quickly and provided via email. Once we decided to go with their estimate, we were assigned a general contractor (Ben). After windows were ordered, Ben gave us an estimated start date. Near the start date, he contacted us and scheduled window delivery, window install, siding install and told us when to expect paint. All crews arrived on time, performed their work very professionally, and were available to answer questions as needed from our household supervisor (my husband). Ben was at the house daily to answer questions and address any concerns as well. Glitches encountered (and resolved!) along the way: * Window actual cost came in higher than estimate. Contractor negotiated and handled with no increase to my cost. * Paint debacle where the paint store had given me an incorrectly mixed sample which I liked. The actual paint then did not match what I expected (sample color). Contractor and paint store agreed to provide new paint which matched the incorrectly mixed sample at no increase to my cost. * Rain delayed exterior paint completion which led to job completion while we were out of town. Job was completed with us out of town and contractor waited until our return for final check out and payment. No problems. Overall, we are very happy with DFW Improved! We've already asked for another estimate from them.
