I called DFW Imprvd in the morning and John came out that afternoon and provided a written estimate. John was professional, very prompt in his response throughout the project, and was willing to do whatever was necessary to complete the job to my satisfaction. The price was fair, and they were able to start within a day or two. It took approx 6 hours to complete the work. The door looks good, and overall I am pleased with the outcome. I will definitely hire DFW Iimproved for future work.
Description of Work: Refinished front door. Removed old finish, stained, and applied a clearcoat.

DFW Improved came by on a Friday to view the work site and was able to get me an estimate on the second Monday after the viewing. This took so long due to the intervening July 4th holiday. Their estimate was within our planned range and we accepted. The crews were scheduled to come the Friday (drywall) and Saturday (painting) that same week. The drywall crew arrived on time and began tapping down drop cloths. They did an excellent job on this, containing the drywall dust to the affected room. Before lunch they had removed the old "popcorn" ceiling, cut out the damaged drywall, and installed and floated the new drywall. After lunch they were able to texture the ceiling and get the room cleaned. Extra care was taken with the cleaning step. The painter arrived on Saturday on time and began putting up drop clothes. Before lunch he was able to caulk the joints with the walls and get three coats on the ceiling. After lunch, he was able to touch up the wall paint. During lunch, I had to go get a darker shade of the wall paint as the original I had acquired earlier in the week was too light. Oops. After completing the touch up, the painter quickly cleaned up the work site; leaving it spotless.
Description of Work: We had a leak in our front bay window that damaged the ceiling drywall. DFW Improved replaced the damaged dry wall quickly and efficiently. They also resurfaced the entire ceiling in the room as my wife disliked the original "popcorn ceiling". The next day they cam in a painted the ceiling and touched up the color on the walls. The painting was neat and well done. In both cases, the crews did an excellent job in cleaning up after themselves. This is especially true of the dry wall crew who took extra time to sweep and wipe down the wooden floors to get all the dust off.

They did a fair job, but not a quality one. I was reasonably satisfied. I then asked for an estimate on the roof of a small shed. The estimate was done and I agreed to it. They never came to do the work. In fairness, these were small, one day jobs, and I suppose they just didn't want to take workmen away from larger, more profitable ones. I would not use them again or reccommend they.
Description of Work: The repair was to water damage on the lower edge of a car port roof.

Jason at DFW Improved is awesome. Due to our work scheduled, about 4 months elapsed between our estimate and the actual repair. These guys just hung in there and when we were ready, they came in and rocked the job over two half days. We had a team of dry wallers, a painter, an estimator, and Corey, a supervisor, who stopped by the day after the work was completed to check up to make sure the team did its job. The workers put plastic everywhere, were quiet, and I never once smelled paint or chemicals. The whole experience was top drawer. Because of the ease of setting this up with them, I would call them again and plan to for other work we need on our townhouse. No fuss, no muss, job done! Great team.
Description of Work: The team from DFW Improved repaired interior drywall damage caused by a roof leak and painted. Two areas were affected--our loft and a closet ceiling. The crew texturized the drywall surface on the repaired portion and it matches exactly. They also color matched our paint.

I found DFW Improved on Angie's list. They've an impressive website and come very highly recommended so I was surprised to get such a speedy response. Jon Dunaway is an extremely pleasant man that is very knowlegeable and easy to talk to. He made us feel very important and gave us full confidence in his ability to do the jobs. We have fair estimates on three projects (they have an Angie's List discount) and cant wait to get started.

After seeing glowing reviews and getting decent service on the phone I've been totally forgotten and abandoned. No one has bothered to return my calls, or even provide the quotes I requested. In Jason Bailey's words, "If you don't hear back, assume I'm not coming."Thanks Jason. Glad to know my project meant so much to your company that you can even be bothered to deliver a quote. I'd like to say more, but when you're ignored, it's tough to give much of a grade.
Description of Work: I moved back into a home I had rented out, and discovered lots of hidden water damage that was going to be quite difficult to repair. I needed professional help and decided to use DFW Improved.

It went great. Very smooth from beginning to end. I placed quite a few calls, mostly either got no return calls, or others were actually wanting to cut the door....really, cut the door!!! I was happy that the other companies did not return my call, as I found the right company to do the work for me.
Description of Work: I had bought a used door, the same size as my door, I thought. When I brought it home, I tried to hang it myself and found that it was slightly shorter, and wider than my opening. I called DFW Improved and they made a fair offer. they picked up my new door, had it professionally framed and hung, and delivered it back to my house. The same day it was delivered, they came and removed the old door and frame, and installed the new door frame. It was very professionally hung, and it opens and closes so smooth. I could have never done this, but I am glad I went with this company, as they really knew what they were doing.

It started with John Dunaway giving us a bid. It was the most reasonable for the exterior but a little high for the interior work. John worked with me to bring the price down by agreeing that I would provide the paint needed. I then met with John and Tony and Ben, the crew chiefs. We walked though the interior and exterior needs. The interior work began the next day with the drywall crew. They had estimated it would take two days. They stayed late on the first day and finished the job. It involved two story high ceilings so they had to build scaffolding to reach the area. They moved the furniture out of the way, covered the floors in paper and plastic, put up plastic hanging to protect other rooms from the dust. They did a fantastic job. The next Monday the painting crew arrived and did the carpentry work needed on the exterior. We had several boards that needed to be replaced and one door frame that they replaced as well. Tuesday was the exterior painting and Wednesday the ceiling painting. All looks great. While they were on the roof painting they noticed the gaskets around all the pipes on the roof were rotten. The roof was determined not to need any repairs, just the gaskets. These were replaced for us approximately a week later. They workers were always on time, courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Tony and Ben were responsive and always there to check on the progress. If and when we need further work done we will definitely use DFW Improved again.
Description of Work: We had three major projects tackled by DFW Improved. The first was exterior painting. The second was interior ceiling painting that involved rather major crack repairs. The third was replacement of all the gaskets on our roof.

The quality of their work started off poor but then they fixed it. They were very punctual. The project management was professional and skilled however the subcontractors were less skilled. The project management team worked very hard to correct the issues but ultimately the quality of the work initially was where it was.
Description of Work: DFW Improved were the general contractors that I used for painting, trim work and fixing some prehung doors. The painting had a lot of paneling and things like that which had to be done. They installed some bathroom fans. They did some electrical work, lighting, hardware and things of that nature.

This is the second major work we have had completed by DFW Improved. And once again it was nothing short of an excellent experience. We again were able to work with Cory; who had his deck guys come and evaluate what we needed done, then began the work. Our fence and decking literally look like new and what they looked like the day they were built. The staining is awesome, and Eric (who actually completed the work), said the original work was done with a low quality stain. He used a very high quality stain and seriously, the fence and deck look like new. The work was as previous work was, completed in the time frame expected, and the quality and services outstanding. Again, we cannot recommend DFW Improved enough. We will continue to use them for any and all needs in the future. Do not look any further---do not choose another company! We are 2/2 and couldn't be more pleased.

From beginning to end work was done on time, on schedule, and the area was left clean after each step. First our existing granite was removed, then the original cabinets were removed and moved down 3" with the oven tower being totally removed. The new tower was installed and stained. Day two the granite was reinstalled beautifully and on the 3rd and final day the backsplash was installed and the project was complete. Everyone we work with was completely professional. .
Description of Work: Our experience with DFW Improved was great. Our sales person/contractor Jeff understood what we were looking for and work with us to get a new oven tower built within the price rage we were looking at. He was always professional, courteous, and prompt. The experience was a good one with everyone from the bid to the billing. I would definitely use them again and/or recommend them to others.

.They did make everything ok but there was a lot of things that went wrong. 1. The roof leaked and the backyard wasn't cleaned up and they left shingles in the driveway we had to call to have them come pick them back up. 2. The plumbers that did work on the bathroom flooded the bathroom as they did not communicate with each other although they had cell phones and when they turned the water back on their sodder broke and flooded the bathroom. They did shut it off immediately but there was still a lot of water that poured out. 3. the granite was not the same color as the one in the showroom and it was not templed correctly. In other words it was not cut correctly. 4. The guy that came out to stain the fence came to do it on a day when we had an 80% chance of rain and then he spilled the stain on our patio.5. They lost the little piece that screws the light to the bottom of the ceiling fan and of course this was one I had bought so I had to contact the manufacturer to get another one. 6. Once we got the granite in the bathroom the plumber cam in and put the sink in backwards and we had gotten a frameless shower door and the glass in the one corner was cracked so we had to wait for them to order a new one. AND 7. They were cutting tile in my front yard and the saw killed a big patch of grass in my front yard. They guys I like but the contactor was the one that subbed all the work out and he really should have been here supervising everything and instead he was no where to be found. That was 90% of the problem right there.

It went very well. Corey, the project manager assigned to the account, did a fantastic job. He was very responsive to my responses and stayed in touch with me throughout the entire project. I traveled a lot and Corey kept me in the loop. The bid was not the cheapest but it was very competitive. Their cabinet/painting guy, Pedro, is awesome and did a great job refinishing the cabinets and fireplace. Had a few minor issues and Corey was very responsive and resolved all issues quickly. Another high point is warranty. Found a small granite chip in March and contacted Corey. Although it took a few weeks to reach the granite service rep to set up an appointment, the chip was repaired to our satisfaction at no cost. Will certainly consider Corey for our next remodeling project.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodeling, including granite counter top, lime stone back splash, painting of cabinets, ceiling light fixtures, installation of new appliances (installation only), new tiles and carpet on the first floor, remodeling of the half-bath, installation of new light fixtures, and painting.

Overall, the entire process went great and finished up within my set timeline. They made the project a snap. They were punctual and always arrived precisely when they said they would. I needed to obtain 3 bids before the project got off the ground and their bid was very competitive. The group started on a Thursday morning and had it all wrapped up Friday evening. The workers were friendly and responsive to any questions I had. They also went ouf of their way to make sure the carpeting at the new door way looked good and flowed correctly and replaced a swatch of carpet. This was at their suggestion and they did it as a courtesy. I absolutely love this group and will keep them on tap for any new remodeling projects I need in the future.
Description of Work: I had a large office area that I wanted to divide into two separate offices (commerical building). I had DFW Improved install the drywall and paint the newly created walls. In addition, I asked them to knock out an existing wall to create a new doorway where a closet had been.

Given the complexities of my roof (3-level townhouse with a steep pitch), roofers were hesitant to even come and look at my roof to give me a quote much less go onto the roof. Any roofers who did arrive, immediately encouraged a roof replacement given the " complexity" of the roof. Given it was a 7 year old roof, we were disappointed with the recommendations. After calling DFW Improved, Brian came to our home and scaled the roof like a skilled mountaineer. He was able to locate potential concerns--as well as see sections of the roof that inspector we hired upon buying had never attempted to inspect. Brian replaced six weather-worn plastic vents with durable metal, secured wayward shingles and sealed any potential water entry points, The work was done five days before 15 tornadoes and immediate flooding hit DFW. While others were not as fortunate, my roof repairs protected me from potentail disaster. Compared to the unnecessary roof replacement quotes of $10k plus, I was more than happy to swipe my credit card for less than 1/10th that. Given mu satisfaction, I called DFW Improved--and Brian--to complete interior work on my home. p;lus

I can not say enough about DFW Improved--or my project manager Brian. At a very stressful time in my life (resigning old job, preparing for new job, preparing house for sale, etc), I did not spend a moment worrying about the work being done in my home. Brian was informative, attentive, experienced and skilled. He had a solid grasp on the contractors and meticulously inspected every portion of the work. I am very happy with my experience and would not hesitate to call DFW Improved--and Brian--in a second.

Master bedroom shower was in need to be replaced. Jason bid the job. He was great, and got some other cost perspectives on remodeling ideas from him too. I had four other contractors come out and bid the job and Jason's was near the low range on the cost. We had to pick out tile and my wife is indecisive. Luckily for us they had a design room where the design lady was nice enough to meet with us on a saturday to pick out the tile. Invaluable resource. Really helped us create the design. Matt oversaw the project. He was excellent in quickly addressing any concerns (general issues that pop up with construction projects). We wanted a frameless door initially. Good thing for us their contractor, Scott I believe his name was, from Jpon glass, told us about leak issues with frameless doors in a shower of our size, and told us about other options. We went to Jpon glass shop and got a look at semi-frameless doors which we ended up going with, which dropped the price of our project. I mention this to illustrate the quality contractors that DFW Improved work with. The door had to be remade because of some miscommunication between us and Jpon about the need for brushed nickel hardware, which Matt was on top of and took care of. Once the job was finished Matt came out and checked it out and made sure there were no concerns. The shower is now the nicest thing in the house. I am sure I will be calling upon them in the near future for other projects. >>>>>>UPDATE>>>>>>>>> I got a call from some company who they gave my number out too. Some services review place that went on a telemarketing schpeel. I do not like people giving out my number to a third party and I question the legality of it, honestly. I felt like I did enough giving a good review on Angies List. So, here are a couple things that I did not have in my original review because I was overall pleased with the end result. 1). They contracted a contractor to contract a contractor to do the tile work. One of these gentlemen spoke no English, the other spoke very little. One was very sick, sneezing and coughing for the week they were here. Left the toilet seat up. Even left a brown trail on the toilet seat. When they did the demolition of the old shower, they threw all the broken tile and all on my front lawn. Not even in contractor bags. This was after asking Jason if they needed to use my bulk trash pick up time to take care of the trash. I told Matt and he had them pick it up, but there was still crap in my yard. I showed Matt again and he and I picked up all the rest. I leave my other review because I stick by it. Also, the sick immigrant filled their water bottle from the tap on my Ozarka dispenser. I am thankful we don't have hepatitis. This is all true. Don't give my number out to third parties.

The representative was punctual and pleasant. He stayed for about 1 hour and indicated he would be sending us the proposal in about a week. He sent us an email asking some clarifying questions and we received the proposal in 10 days which was acceptable to us. We also informed him if we liked the work we would move right into a full kitchen remodel. The proposal, sent 2/27, did not have several things we asked for and we sent him an email on the same day asking about this. He was prompt in replying that it was not a complete proposal since he was still checking on something we wanted that was very specific and didn't have the cost yet. On 3/6 we received another email saying he was still checking on a contractor to install heated floors and the cost. He also offered to help us with financing. While this may be a standard offer, we had already informed him we would be paying cash. On 3/11 we sent him an email stating we had already told him we were paying cash for the remodel and we would not commit on a partial proposal. We did not hear from him again. On 3/15 we contacted another company for a bid since we were having trouble with DFWImproved and on 3/23 we sent this company's representative an email stating we had found a company that was more responsive to our requests. We were surprised after the great things we had read about this company.
Description of Work: Only a proposal was provided to us.
