Description of Work: Steve and his crew changed out all of our wood windows to new vinyl windows that look very much like wood. He explained every possible choice we had and sent us to view similar windows. He advised me of every stage in the process. The crew prepared the interior of our house and cleaned up at the end of every work day. He was fair, and very professional. We would highly recommend Designer Door and Windows for every door and window need. Thank you Steve.

Description of Work: This company was wonderful to deal with. They installed my new front doors which was no easy task. We have double doors but only one opens, there is a closet behind the other one. These workmen were very talented and the owner was involved every step of the way. We were very happy with the outcome.

+ -1 moreA refreshening experience. Over a year ago, I started trying to replace my entry door. I sent out emails and made calls but couldn't get so much as response. Then, when I found a showroom for a nationally marketed company, I almost fell over at the quote they gave me! Then, I started the process again about a month ago and found Designer Door and Window on Angie's List. First action - call the place and see if they are open and actually had a showroom. Kevin Barnes answered the phone and his personality came through loud and clear. So, I drove over (it's not too far from my office) and met Kevin. He took his time, walked me through the showroom and finishing department, pulled up my house on line and we looked at options. The price was fair, the quality looked great and we got the process started. Then, Steve and Debbie (the owners) came out to do the measurements and brought colour samples with them. They were prompt, professional and we reviewed the order. Off it went to the factory. Steve stayed in touch with me regarding progress and we made the appointment for the install. The install team was just as professional as Kevin, Steve and Debbie. They arrived, were very tidy in protecting the area, removing the old doors and installing the new. They cleaned up after themselves and you wouldn't have known they had even come other than I had beautiful doors in place of the old ones. Steve even called later in the day to see how things went, if I had any questions and asked about the job that the guys had done. I liked this little extra touch. And, every one reinforced that if I had any questions or issues, to be sure to call them right away. This is a company that delivers what they sell and also make suggestions about how to keep my beautifully, stained wood door looking wonderful with a polishing of lemon oil on a monthly baiss.

+ -1 moreThey were good. Replacing a custom window was not an easy thing to do. I had got bids in the past that I thought were pretty high but their bid was reasonable. They first came out probably in April and finished up in the end of May. It was great. We were trying to match the custom windows that the builder had done. We were trying to match the trim and style, and they went way out of their way to do it. I can't tell it's a replacement at all. They came out and they were fairly quick with an estimate. I called another company who took 2 weeks to give me an estimate. They came back out and did all the measuring. It was a very special job. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

The door arrived within the estimated time of three weeks and was installed in one long day by a very professional crew. After installation, Steve (the owner) called to say that the crew foreman had alerted him to the need for a change-out of the installed transom trim piece with a larger piece. He had already placed the order and would re-schedule the installation as soon as the part arrived, which he did. My wife and I were very pleased overall.
Description of Work: Replaced the 8 foot tall entry door and side panels with a Provia steel door and 2 glass sidelites.

We looked at several options and had decided to by a door at a surplus store, finish it and install it ourselves (between my father and I we had the skill set and experience) but time just kept passing. We took a trip out to DDW and visited the showroom to see what they could do for us. They took the time to figure out not only what we wanted but what was best for us. The thoroughly explained all the possible options and how they impacted cost, time, and maintenance issues. We bought a door on the spot. On the day of installation, I had my father be there while my wife and I were at work. He told me when I came home he was really impressed with the quality of install. All the 'magic' happens behind the trim work and they were masters. We would and have recommended them to others.

+ 0 moreKevin Barnes came to our home and did an estimate and fully explained the Milgard replacement windows. We had several estimates and thought about it for a few days. Even though Designer Doors and Windows was not the lowest bid; we decided to go with them because they explained everything to us. The window company (Milgard) also had a Full Lifetime Warranty, which was a big hit with my husband. The job was a 2 day process and the crew arrived on time. Men working on the inside as well as the outside. The crew was efficient and very thoughtfull of our bushes as will as our inside belongings. They covered furniture with heavy tarps and protected our floors with heavy tarps. They totally cleaned up after themselves and I know they washed the windows several times. The owner Steve Barron came out the following day to see that everything was to our liking. We were very pleased. The windows look great.

+ 0 moreThe installation crew arrived on time and as scheduled on a cold cloudy morning when many construction crews would have been and quot;no-showsand quot; and worked diligently throughout theday. They were very professional, efficient and clean in completing the work. They returned timely on the second day and completed the installation. Steve visited on the second day and inspected the installation and inquired if I had any concerns or questions about the installation. This installation is currently new however, my experience to date has been exceptional and I would highly recommend Designer Door and Window to anyone interested in replacement windows for their home.
Description of Work: After a period of researching the various types and manufacturers of "replacement windows" for residential construction in showrooms and the internet I elected to pursue the purchase and installation of a window manufactured by Milgard, a California Co. Their website listed recommended installers in the area. Being a member of Angie's List, I researched several of the listed Installers and was immediately attracted by the satisfactory reports of prior customers of Designer Door and Window (DDW). My initial contact with DDW was Kevin Barnes, Sales Representative, who met with me at my home .provided requested literature for two different material type windows and surveyed the house sufficiently to prepare a written estimate for each. The written estimates were presented timely as commited by Kevin. I utilized several weeks debating this expenditure and proceeding with work during which time Kevin corresponded several times with cordial e-mails. On reaching a decision to proceed, I requested a sectional cut sample of the frame of the window selected. In only a few days Kevin contacted me and said the sample had been received. On the following Saturday, my wife and I visited Kevin at DDW's show room at which time we inspected the sample and first met Steve, the Owner. Steve and Kevin explained the detail and merits of the window sample to my wife and I to our satisfaction. On request, Steve provided a list of references of completed installations which on contacting proved to be very satisfactory. At this point a Purchase Order was finalized and Steve visited my home at my convenience on a Saturday and took final measurements for fabrication of the windows. I requested an installation date which would correspond with the coming Holiday Season and Steve said he would accommodate my request and he upheld his commitment. The windows arrived from the manufacturer as scheduled. The Installers arrived as scheduled and finished as projected..

+ -1 moreWe went to the sales office on just a drop by and were greeted by Kevin. He showed us the various patio doors they had available and explained the pluses and minuses of each. He did this in a way that was very understandable. After we decided to use them, I called and Kevin came out and personally measured the doorway for the proper fit. He again went over the facts about the door we selected and he made us feel very comfortable with our decision. He anticipated the door would take about three weeks to come in and we told him we had a problems as we were going on vacation about that time. He indicated he would attempt to get the shipment expedited. This was accomplished and they installed the door prior to our leaving. There were two installers who did the work and they were very efficient. They wasted no time and the job was completed within the time frame they said it would take. After they left we felt that some adjustment had to be made and we called their office. That same day the owner came out along with two other people to check on the work and they made the adjustment while they were still there. Additionally the owner put in a call to the manufacturer's maintenance people and told them he wanted them to come out and check to make certain that all was correct. We did not feel that was necessary but he wanted to insure that all was right. The manufacturer's people came out the next day and checked everything over and said it was all installed properly. We are very satisfied with the sales, the installation and the check up by the manufacturer (as insisted to by the owner of Designer Door). All the people we dealt with on this installation were professional and friendly and certainly wanted to please us the customer. Highly recommend this company and we will be looking toward them if we decide to install windows in the future.

+ -1 moreThey did an excellent job on both the doors. Both the doors were installed over Mexican tiles; so adjustments had to be made for leveling. The iron door was a difficult job, but they solved every problem. The crew was excellent. They arrived on time, did the job and cleaned up afterwards.

+ -1 moreSalesmen at showroom were very friendly and helpful and the initial installer of the door was prompt, professional and did a good job. But I was supposed to receive the door already stained but instead they said they got busy and their painter didn't have time to do it so he'd have to come to the house. So, that required another visit after the door was installed and little did I know that it would take 5 more visits to finish the job all the time I had to leave the door open to let it dry and the painter was always late or had to re-schedule. I got them to take $100 off the price of the door in the end due to my inconvenience since I had to take time off from work each visit. The painter I hear is no longer with the company.
