John Bailey (Computer Plano) takes care of all of my computer issues. My two year old RAID1 box failed. It is one of the drives I use for backups so it is very important to me to have it working properly. John ran diagnostics and tested the box and determined it had to be replaced. Wisely when is initially set up the original RAID1 backup, he purchased a 3 year warranty on the system so it was replaced for free. John scrubbed the old drives to wipe all the data; installed the operating system on the new drives, installed them on my system, and make sure my backups were up and running before he left. He is always professional and his rates are always fair. He never nickle and dimes me for the things he does. He had my business and my gratitude.
Description of Work: Replaced a RAID1 box that had failed.

In May, John set up a new desktop, transferred all files, installed applications, copied backup from external drive, transferred settings, set up Outlook to reuse transferred PST files. Set up in home and verified access to external backup systems, printer, and music server. Prior to that, John purchased and installed a 3 TB Buffalo RAID1 network backup system. Total cost including equipment was <$1,000. Over the years, I have used several computer services. John Bailey is by far the best I have ever had. He doesn't nickle and dime me. He does what he says he will do for the price he quotes.
Description of Work: Set up new desktop to replace a laptop.

I have generally been unhappy with the computer services providers I have used in the past. They don't seem to answer questions or make me feel comfortable with what they are doing and I am never comfortable with what it will cost to do what I need done. Thank goodness for John Bailey. I told him what I wanted. He quoted me a fixed price and recommended the equipment that would do the job. I had him purchase the equipment for me because I feared I would buy the wrong thing or forget a cable, etc. He purchased what he needed and presented the invoices to show what he paid. He did not mark up the equipment when I know previous service providers have charged me more than market for hardware. John came to the house to set up the backup system. Computers being the complex organisms that they are, this required changing settings within my computer and reconnecting devices to the network; even reassigning a new port to a wireless printer. I don't know if John had anticipated all of this but he did it without extra charge. The backup is working flawlessly. He also wiped date from two previous external hard drives and repaired both of them so they could be used again. He did that without extra charge and I know that wasn't in the original estimate. John is the kind of computer wizard we all need. He does what he says he is going to do. His quotes are straightforward and if necessary he goes the extra distance to make sure the customer is happy.
Description of Work: John set up a RAID 1 backup for my home computer and performed other services and tweaks to the system. The approximate cost listed included the purchase of the Buffalo RAID box and the hard drives.
