It did not go very well. They were supposed to replace a toilet for me and they came out the first time and did the work but when they left, there was still a leak. We ended up having to call them back for a total of three times to get the leak fixed. We had some other challenges with getting them there and part of that was weather related so I do not really blame them for that. Basically, it was a house that was vacant at that time so it was not a real problem for the family or anything like that but it took them three times to get it right. We scheduled with them very shortly after we purchased the big deal. It was probably on the 7th or 8th of December that they came out the first time and it took them approximately a week or a little bit longer to fix it but we had some bad weather in the middle of that which slowed them down. Their office staff was good. I was able to contact them by phone regularly and give project reports but getting the job done was not so good.

We started to hear a loud noise when the water was running in a certain part of the house. We looked on Angies List, saw the reviews and chose Benjamin Franklin. So glad we did. They came right out. They quickly determined it was the valve leading into the house. They dig it out, replaced it and repaired the hole nicely. They were prompt, polite and gave me an accurate estimate before beginning the work. They are now my plumber of choice.

Jason was suppose to arrive between 2- 6, showed up a little after 6. I suggested that perhaps we needed a new seal, he tried to move the toilet, said that was not it, we needed a new toilet. Asked how he could tell without doing anything, he said it was 20yrs old and needed to be replaced. The price went from $300 to about $800. We agreed to replace the toilet, was removed, than was told we did need a seal, and the flange was cracked, now the cost went to $1,100. Told him I couldn't see where there was a crack, he assured me there was. By this time my husband came home, the toilet had been removed and put on Jason's truck. My husband was very upset and suggested that he was taking advantage of me because I was a woman , now the story changed, the toilet was not the problem after all. My husband called his boss & Jason left, putting the toilet that was in his truck on our front porch. We hired a plumber the very next day, he came out said the flange and toilet were fine, put in a new seal, replaced the toilet and this cost less than $200.

Jason Moczygemba was my Service Plumber and he arrived on time ready to work. He was very polite and professional. He listened to what and where I thought the problem was. He took into account what I had already attempted to do to remove the blockage. He retrieved the tools he needed and unclogged the pipe in record time.

They did not accept the coupon at the Fort Worth Location, and it turned out that we also needed to have our hot water heater descaled, and so they gave us the service for free on that. They had to make another trip out, because coincidentally, when they went to descale the heater, one of our previous contractor had drained the air conditioner, through the heater, and that was not up to code. They finished descaling and all and we still ended up having another service call, because the toilets were not flushing, and what we need to take care of that problem is just too expensive for us right now. They did come for the very first part of the service. The company was fine, my real frustration was, that I needed to be made aware, how to find out before I purchase it, if the company that I am going to use, is going to accept the coupon. They said the coupon that I had was for Dallas, and the Benjamin Franklin in Fort Worth was not accepting it. They were good, and on time. The guy could have been a little more friendlier. They put the pump in a place where we couldn't access our filter. The way they finished it off, it just looks taped up there, not finished. They were here when they said they were here, and they knew what was right and what was wrong. I expected a little more.

This did not go well at all. I would steer clear of Ben Franklin on any major plumbing work. Company provided prompt same day service on to clean out a broken and blocked residential sewage line. Then made a proposal to repair the break for $2,000 the next day, a price that I eventually learned was 80% above the competition. Ben Franklin proposed to "throw in" the cost of the initial clean out in the much larger $2,000 repair. When I realized the price was more than three times the labor involved in the repair i decided to get some other quotes. Ben Franklin responded by saying the bill for the clean out ( one hour's work by a single plumber) would be $440. After I complained, they reduced the bill for the initial work to $240. This company engages in "solution pricing" which has no relation to the resources involved in the job. They have a franchise brand and a strong presence on the internet, and they fish for customers who are not price sensitive using questionable marketing techniques. Bad experience. I would avoid them completely

don't let them in the house. My wife was home and dealt with them while I was at work. If I had been home I would have had them fix one thing to fulfill the so called "Deal" and then ushered them out. Their are very pricey. I have recently had things like this done at a cost of less than 1/2 of what they charged me (around $350)

Workman showed up. I didn't have an Angie's List coupon for him so he couldn't work. I told him what my problems had been and he said I didn't need the toilet tune up; I should cancel and get their new deal of $89 for $200 of plumbing work. However, I then called home warranty who claims they'll take care of it by grinding up roots in pipes rather than replace them. We shall see.

I had bought a coupon for $89 for $200 worth of work. Thank goodness that I had done that! Basically, I wanted to have the fill valves for two toilets changed and to get an estimate for a tankless water heater installation as well as the installation of one of those sensors that shuts off the water to your water heater as soon as water enters the pan. The technician inspected everything and then told me that it would cost $198 to change ONE fill valve! That ended up being the only thing that I had him do. Very polite young man, but that price is just too much.

I thought the price was outrageous! I'll live with the leaky faucet. It can drip for a long long time to equal the cost of replacement. I can live with that. This is the second time we have used Ben Franklin through Angie's List. After the first time I swore I would not use them again, but my husband saw an Angie's List special and called them to come replace the faucets. Even with the savings from the special, the cost was still ridiculous. Maybe this is what plumbing costs. We are senior citizens and this was way too much for us. (By the way, we had to have some other plumbing work done. We went with another plumber and he installed both faucets for less that the cost to install just one of faucets you quoted). We won't be calling on Ben Franklin again!

My toilet was running and the shut off valve was not working. I purchased the certificate for $29 toilet tuneup from Benjamin Franklin plumbing thinking I needed more than that, but thought it would help save some money. Plumber was on time, took a few minutes to review the problem and provided me with four options to choose from: (1) Install water measure device 2/flapper and install new shut off valve to toilet: $396, (2) install owner provided toilet and install new shut off valve $468, (3) toilet rebuild and install shut off valve to toilet $382 or (4) Install a TOTO toilet with 10 year warranty $949. I believe he told me that the certificate I had purchased would take $104 off whichever option I chose. I went to the Home Depot, purchased a Kohler toilet for $178, arranged for it to be installed $99. The plumber showed up on time, replaced the toilet. It cost $115 for him to also install a new shut off valve to the toilet. LOVE the new toilet! Very satisfied with the plumber's work and my experience with Home Depot personnel.

Young man was courteous and careful to use plastic shoe covers. Removed the clog relatively easily and quickly - I had tried for hours myself with my own equipment. The house is over 30 years old so, not surprisingly, when he ran the camera he found a break in the line in the back yard. But there was no pressure to repair the break - which may not require repairing for years. It was as good an experience as you can reasonably expect.
Description of Work: Had a clogged sewer line. Arrived a couple days after purchasing the service - using a Big Deal.

Our review is mixed for the following reasons: The first plumber who came out was very professional and helpful. He showed my husband what he saw on the camera, which was a "saddle", or "dip" in one of our pipes. He ran a snake to clean out our drain related to the washing machine. He told us that in general our pipes were in good shape, not to use caustic drain cleaners, and that he believed we could get along without the costly repair of fixing the "saddle". (He didn't write an estimate of repair for this reason.) A little while after he left, I decided to do a load of laundry. The drain overflowed...just like it had been...so I called Ben Franklin Plumbing immediately. The person answering the phone was very apologetic and said that they would send a different plumber over as soon as he finished his lunch. He arrived about an hour later, which was great! Unlike the first person who came out, this plumber seemed irritated to have to be on this job. He wanted to use the outside cleanout drain to run the snake again, but we had put spa equipment back in front of that, and also a table would have to be moved, so he decided to go up on the roof to clean the drain. A little while later he came in with some sort of hand-held device and focused it on a part of the floor in our living room. After awhile, he told me the problem was that we had a broken pipe and he presented me with an estimate for repair...ranging from $4,000.00 to $8,300.00 depending on whether the work was done from the inside of the house, or repaired by tunneling underground. That was confusing, to say the least, as the first plumber recommended not using caustic cleaners when the drain clogged, and believed that we would be ok with out any major repairs. I discussed this with the second plumber and asked him if he would call the first person who had come out, as this recommendation was so different from what we had been told a couple of hours earlier by the same company. After the second plumber left, I tried to do laundry and the same thing happened....the washer overflowed and the drain in the kitchen sink backed up with water. Finally, my husband just decided to use the 50' plumbing snake/motor that we own to see if he could get the drain cleared. (We used the Angie's List Big Deal because the camera inspection is a good deal, and the weather was cold and my husband didn't want to be trying to unstop a drain in the very cold weather!) My husband was successful in unstopping the drain, and my washer is draining just fine at this time...also, no water is backing up into the kitchen sink. This was our first time to use this company, and because of the above experience, we would choose another plumbing company in the future. Having said this, we do have family members who use Ben Franklin Plumbing, and they have been very pleased.

I had a new sink, fauchet and garbage disposal to install. Had an Angie's list coupon for $200 in service and thought this would cover half. The labor only estimate was over $1,000 because they do not take into consideration that all three item are related and you only have to hook the plumbing up once. To install a new sink you have to install the two other components. The estimate was the sum of all three individual priced items added together. Since I had already had bought the coupon I went ahead with the disposal because it was broken. It by itself exceeded the coupon though. I was going give myself a break and pay somoene else to get this off my list but at these rates, the value of my spare time went down. I will install the others myself.

Everything went okay. He was here a very short time, and it in hindsight I'm not sure it was something that worth paying to have done. Although everything he did was fine, I probably would not pay to have another tune up on my toilet.
