They were nice and everything, I just thought the price was way too high. I had previously gone with a different plumbing company to do the same basic thing, and they only charged $199.00

The service for our stopped up sewer line was performed on the scheduled day and I am pleased with the professionalism of the plumber and the result. The company dispatcher was polite enough to call and tell me that their man would be a little late. A service which I appreciated. The work cost quite a bit more than the initial estimate because of unforeseen problems. I was a little disappointed because, after talking to the company dispatch manager, I purchased an Angie's List coupon that the tech later told me did not apply. It will take Angie's List 7 to 10 BUSINESS days to refund my money for the useless coupon. That seems excessive.

It turned out very well. I ended up saving $100. I did save money on that. They're on time and they're professional. They've done work for me before. I've never had any problems with the quality of the work that I had them do. They might be a little higher than other companies. They did a wonderful job of cleaning up.

He was great! He was fast. Sometimes he would walk off to his truck without communicating with me his next action. But it wasn't a big deal. I just waited patiently. He was kind and efficient. He gave me an option on a quick fix or a more expensive fix. I was fine with the quick one since it got the job done and appreciated his honesty. I would definitely use them again!

The technician arrived as scheduled and even though the replacement faucet I had purchased independently required adapter couplings to be compatible with the existing plumbing, the Ben Franklin tech, Adam Stockton had them on his truck. He did not charge me for the two brass couplings and was finished in just over an hour allowing me to continue with my daily schedule. I have used Ben Franklin for many years and have always been pleased with the quality of their work and the fact they guarantee their work and return to fix any problems with no charge to the customer. All signs of an excellent company.

Based on the work/service/tips/advice conducted, I would give this guy an "A". But after he left we noticed that our hardwood floors were scratched when he brought up a piece of equipment (the snake machine). I realize doing work like this can be tough when you have to carry equipment up and down flights of stairs, but we are pretty P.O'ed that our floors have scratches on them due this. I would hire him, but would just make sure they are cognitive of things such as that. I was away at that time and my girlfriend put him on the phone to explain what all was done (which was nice). I definitely don't think the floors were scratched on purpose. He may not even have known that it happen ( and we did not call to complain ), but to me, going the extra mile means preventing those types of things from happening. You have to take of other people homes, because even though are sink is draining we now have additional ware and tare on the house. Which is counterproductive when taking care of homes. I gave them a "B" on Overall, Quality, and Professionalism strictly due to the floors getting scratched up. From a plumbers perspective he did everything right, but my FLOORS!!!

The plumber did a great job. Prompt service, on time, and cleaned up after himself.

Benjamin Franklin contact was very nice and courteous. However, I wasn't expecting the cost to replace my garbage disposal to be $400+. I need to find a better price.

Art arrived on time. He looked at the drain that needed cleaning out, the one between the clean out in front of my house and the city sewer pipe. Next he looked at my $79 Big Deal purchase coupon. He told me the $79 coupon is not good for 4" pipes; it is only good on 2" pipes. He said, even though it does not say the pipe cannot be bigger than 2", that $79 coupons do not apply to cleaning out drains larger than 2". He told me we needed to wait on his supervisor to explain the coupon to me and that he would arrive in 15 minutes. I told him that the terms do not need to be explained to me but that the terms are for whatever is in writing. We waited for 45 minutes before the supervisor arrived, even though Art told me it would be 15 minutes. This supervisor was dressed for an office job in a professional company. He brought his camera out and said they would honor the deal. However, he would not clean out the tree roots. That is what they needed to do, but refused, even though the deal I purchased included cleaning out one sewer line and a camera inspection. All the supervisor wanted to do was to sell me on replacing the entire sewer line or at least the point where the tree roots had entered the pipe. He wanted a minimum of $3,300 to replace the initial clog and the price would go up if they hit rock, went under the sidewalk, or anything that made the job more challenging. He tried to get me to agree to let them replace the entire 28 ft sewer line, which would cost $7,000. Nothing he told me was in writing though. I was so confused by all this. All I wanted was to get the tree roots cleared out of my sewer line and then see that there was nothing else wrong. All these Ben Franklin people wanted to do was sell me on a big job. I had to have another plumber come out a couple of days later and clear out the tree roots. I paid for a plumber twice to get the tree roots cleared out. I will NEVER call Ben Franklin again. They wasted my time and money. Also, Art told me this line was a 2 inch pipe. It is actually 3 inches. It even says 3 inches on the clean out. Another Ben Franklin employee and truck came out while we were waiting on the supervisor to arrive. The other employee needed the supervisor for something. The two guys just stood around waiting and waiting.

On time, very good job. Very good plumber.

I purchased a Big Deal for $89 for $200 worth of services. I called to schedule an appointment and Greg showed up. He was very nice, courteous and professional. He was able to quickly diagnose and clean out our drain that we could not use for weeks. He also left a container of "BioBen" which is a proprietary unclogging liquid by Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. He advised to place a small amount in all of our drains to limit clogging. Everything from scheduling to the services performed was fantastic! Thanks Benjamin Franklin and Greg!

I was put off 2x by people before being transferred to a "plumber manager" which turned out to be a voicemail. I hung up and will not work with the provider. (BTW: plumbing problem is a running toilet, a normal, everyday problem on an American Standard toilet, a normal, everyday brand.) This is my first encounter with Angie's List. Not good. Received call from dispatcher tech. would be leaving shop at 8:15 A.M. heading to my location. Rey arrived soon after and properly introduced himself and company. After being shown the sink, he returned to the truck for his equipment, I informed him of my attempt to clear the line with a 50 ft. hand auger purchased from Home Depot which seemed to work for a few gallons of water poured through the line. Rey used a 75 ft. power auger through the kitchen sink clean-out while running water through the sink. Auger was removed and drain has been working fine since completion of repair. Rey was very friendly and knowledgeable and offered a 90 day guarantee on this service.

My toilet had been making a water running type noise, which was worse after the plumber left. I am aware that my toilet is older. I saw that the inside parts looked worn. I believed the diagnosis of rebuild or replace. The plumber proceeded to inquire about other items in my home that he wanted to check: my hot water heater, other toilet (which had been replaced a few years ago)..... He would not leave. I told him that I just wanted the toilet tune up....nothing else at this visit. He continued to give me prices on jobs that he said needed to be done and he could do. All I wanted was my toilet tune up and the noise to stop (just until I could get more estimates on a toilet replacement.) He gave me estimates on toilet install from expensive to very pricey. Same thing with the hot water heater he would not shut up about. He also would not stop talking to me about his health. I felt that I was told his entire health history. I have hesitated on writing this review. I would give them a D on the pushiness and lack of professionalism (due to the plumber telling me way too much about himself).

Plumber from Benjamin Franklin was a bit late arriving, no phone call. Did arrive within 90 min of original appointment so I was ok with it. Did good work on the hot water heater, cleanup was spotless so very organized and thorough. Typically high rate for Ben Franklin (second time using them) but their people are professional. Of course also typically they "inform" you of any minor or possible defects in current plumbing such as non-brass fittings so they can suggest additional services at very high rates - typical salesmanship tactics. Overall a positive experience, professional and the work is done correctly but they are expensive.

Tech was on time, and did work quickly with no surprises. Took time to thoroughly explain everything. We did have one small problem with the install of the water heater shut-off, but we called the company and another tech came out later the same day and fixed it.

They did a great job. In the other bathroom, we had asked for guidance on how to fix a fixture that’s no longer working. So, the shower knob that tells you whether you want hot or cold water doesn’t work anymore so all you get is scalding hot water. We brought a fixture and we asked them how do you go about fixing them, and the answer we got was, ‘well, the first thing I’ll have to do is chip out all of this tile in your bathroom and have a look at it.’ But the parts that’s broken has screws in it and it looks to me like you can just unscrew it and see what’s in there but I’m not a plumber, what do I know? So, he said there would be a $600 charge to even look at that and he would have to break all the tile off the wall. So, we said, no, don’t do that and sent him on his merry way. I don’t know whether what he told me was true or not.

Once we agreed to the right amount for the job it all went quite well. The service technician was professional and did a good job with after work clean-up. He also came right on time, which is much appreciated.

Update 12/12/14 - The parts that were installed originally now had to be replaced by another company. It caused a leak on the house and I had to bring in another plumber to fix it. I am bringing in an environmental company to tell us what needs to be done to fix everything.

It turned out well. They were able to come out the next day. They were quick. Everybody else couldn't do us for a week. My only complaint was that they banged up the water heaters but nobody sees them. They got back to us in a timely manner. My husband did most of the work and he had no complaints. The price seemed in line with everything we googled.
