The plumber showed up earlier than promised. He was completely professional, and after he listened to my plumbing issues, he immediately went to work. I highly recommend this service.

Timely professional quality work but very expensive

They were very professional and courteous but wanted about $450-$500 to just hook up one bathroom faucet. I had already purchased the faucet and installed the vanity myself so decided to do it myself. It was ridiculously priced but again they were very courteous and responsive. I just wasn't willing to pay those prices to simply hook up one bathroom faucet

After the company came out, they quoted the replacement of the commode at $900. This seemed high to me. I went to the hardware store and they had a special with the same commode that would only cost me $200. This was far less than Benjamin Franklin had quoted me. I am asking Angie's List for a refund.

We had a backup in our tub, toilet, and sink. When the plumber came out he noticed that the pipe was not angled properly. This is an old house and the plumbing was not installed correctly. We ended up having to have about a quarter of this cast iron pipe replaced. Unfortunately, we could not have this deal applied to this particular service.

They told me that he only option was to remove the toilet which I had them do because I was considering replacing it anyway. it turns out that the clog was not in the drain, it was in the toilet itself which for some unknown reason they couldn't resolve. I told them to go home and I put in a new toilet myself. They were responsive, they were just not competent. The company was fine but I was disappointed with the plumber.

They were responsive in setting an appointment, and the technician arrived when scheduled. The problem, however, was not within the scope of knowledge of the technician. This resulted in an exorbitant bid that resulted in me calling around for a second bid. Talked with a master plumber on the phone, and the second company sent a plumber knowledgeable in this type of repair. The competing company did a terrific job for 1/2 the price of the BF Pluming bid. What did Ben say? A penny saved is a penny earned. The competing company will get my return business.

It was good and it worked out really good. They gave me the price upfront and tell me exactly when they were going to call to fix it and so I thought that was good. I would use this provider again in the future.

Too expensive. From now on we will use a plumber who charges by the hour rather than by the job.

The big deal worked out okay. I just wanted to test it out and they did a fine job for what they did. When I asked them to do the same thing for another toilet, it was 20%-30% more expensive. The price of the big deal was helpful. They are one of the best but you are going to pay for a rolls royce for their work. They wanted to charge me $109 for a second toilet. You are doing the same thing for $29, and then you want four times as much.

I wanted them to do some duct work, which was not included in the deal.

Really liked the serviceman Greg McKeehan. If all their people are like Greg, then will continue to use.

Everything went well. They responded quickly, they were on time, and they they educated me on what was wrong. I remember that I had home services and will use them instead but he was understanding and agreed that it'd be cheaper and that is the only reason I wouldn't use them in the future.

It is my understanding, The service called for $89.00 worth of plumbing services. I expected to pay for parts and reasonable labor, yet the scenario presented by Benjamin Franklin was all too familiar. This scenario repeated itself with an prior experience with this firm. On both occasions, the salesman stated that the part was a "special order" and would require a second service call. This is an outright lie! On the first occasions I paid the inflated amount on an emergency basis.($350.00. This did not involve Angies List) The problem was a $15.00 part which was available at home depot. (I verified this) and they brought that same "custom" part the next day. This is a builder's grade, American Standard Commode. This firm advertises the magnitude of parts available on their trucks. On this occasion, via Angie's List, the scenario repeated itself. Once again, the "custom" plastic lever required two trips at a material cost of $350.00, over an above the $89.00 Angie's charge. I regretfully, I only agreed to use this firm because of positive past experiences with legitimate vendors through Angie's List. I had also successfully used this firm on a few occasions prior to these last two events. I gave them a detailed description of the work involved prior to their arrival. It should be noted, that I am a former restoration contractor and currently a large loss insurance adjuster. I completely understand what it takes to perform the given task and I understand indirect costs involving travel time and elements in addition to the physical task. I know the cost of doing business and completely understand profit margins. The quoted costs were excessive!!! $300.00 labor for 30 minutes of labor, without consideration for the "custom part"(less than $50.00)was extremely insulting. It should be noted that the $350.00 quote was over and above the $89.00 payment to Angie's List. In addition, Benjamin Franklin's shop is less than one mile from my home and I changed my schedule to their request to arrive earlier than our scheduled appointment. In conclusion, my agitation is directed at Benjamin Franklin's, not Angie's List. However, in consideration of the events surrounding this unfortunate event, I would appreciate a refund of the original $89.00 payment. I hope this information is beneficial. Called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing for an after hours emergency service on Friday evening 1/9/15, when another company that was drying out the crawl space of my home had discovered another leak! It was an emergency. BF showed up about an hour and a half after calling. Service rep checked out the leak, gave me a price, but did not write it down and stated he couldn't do the work Friday night, so I would have to have it done on Sunday. He gave me a quote which was in the high $900's. When the service rep GREG (HE IS FANTASTIC), showed up, he also checked out the problem, not having been filled in by the other rep,which surprised me. Once Greg gave me his quote, which was written down, I was shocked by the discrepancy in price, which was twice as much as the 1st guy, who didn't put anything in writing nor fill in Greg on the repairs needed, like he had told me he would. Once I got over the shock of the price discrepancy, I knew the work needed to be done and Greg proceeded to do his job. He ended up repairing the hot water line from my bathtub, that also had a leak ,and he did this for free!!! He knew how upset I was and he didn't have to repair the line for free, because when he told me there was another leak, and asked me "do you want me to make the repair", I said YES, fully expecting to pay for this repair, but he didn't charge me. THAT WAS A NICE & FAIR thing for him to have done! After making all the repairs, he also took off another $50.00 and I purchased their BEN club, for $119. and another 15% was taken off. Overall I am happy with everything. I did call the office while BF was here and I was stewing about the discrepancy in pricing and left a v/m for the general manager, Jeff Baer, who called me back today, and he was very nice. He listened to what I had to say and I had to admit to him that I had contacted the BBB during the time Greg was making his repairs, b/c I was so upset. I also added that I had sent an addendum to my original complaint, stating I was happy with the end results and the case is settled.

Date was sometime in August or September. The price to fix a leaky faucet was $240, a new garbage disposal was approximately $400 with disposal equipment included and 2 gas caps which they said requires full assessment of the gas line coming into the house from the gas meter approx $2,000. I will say that the garbage dispoal price did not seem too far fetched to me. The leaky faucet I asked can't you just replace rubber gaskets to stop leak (and I have basic knowledge in gaskets having watched my dad and brother fix things out of state); he said no, he had to replace the stems to the faucet and no gasket would fix. Odd, shocked by that quote and it was way more than I had ever planned... The gas capping I was told by others it would probably be close to about $400 per cap ($800), so again their price of $2,000 appeared way overinflated and more suspicious. I ended up passing on any of their services; they can keep my $39. Update: dad and I went and got exact gaskets for my faucet make and model for $1.79 and fixed sink when he came to visit. Still looking for a garbage disposal and gas caps... What an entirely disappointing experience and waste of my time.

Jeff was awesome. He was on time, polite, efficient and quickly identified and fixed the toilet leak.

Scheduling conflict prevented me from having service provided. I ended up completing the work myself.

First off, I want to start off with how much I highly don't recommend this company. I have dealt with another plumbing company in the area that explained the process prior and was given a ball park quote on the job. I saw the $79.00 drain cleaning coupon that angieslist was pushing which obviously makes sure to hide hidden costs "fine print". I called prior to purchasing the deal because I wanted to make sure it would cover what was needed. I let the representative know that I had augured the drain and was pretty sure it was in the air vent, which I guess this coupon didn't cover! After discussing the situation, I was instructed to just purchase the deal. We set a time between 3-5 pm which would make sense with my work schedule that day. I get a call at 10 am stating the plumber was on his way. I understand there motto is the punctual plumber but 5 hours early... that is not what I call punctual. I let them know I had stated 3 pm and had to get it switched which they didn't seem to happy about. Once the technician arrived I let him know what I had explained to the call representative about my situation. I guess there is no relay between the company and its call center employees because he stated the deal was no good and it would be over $200 additional dollars to fix the situation. This was to get on the ranch roof with a 4/12 pitch which is not steep at all and auger out the air vent. I was dumbfounded when the plumber said it would be close to $400 if it wasn't through angieslist. I called back and had to speak with a supervisor during the job to try and get this "minor" price issue resolved. I walked away with having to pay $117 + $79 angielist coupon and the knowledge never to use this company again. If I hadn't called back and had them pull the conversation with the representative I would of been sitting at $223 + $79 cpn + 79 service charge. They stated they would waive the service charge since it was angieslist and then knock down the $223 to $117. Honestly, I wouldn't suggest this company to anyone. I am very consistent with anything I review and check numerous sources before doing work. Look elsewhere if you are going to have any plumbing service done!!!

Chris showed up on time and was very knowledgeable and friendly. He explained he would dig thru the mud to get to the leak and asked if he wanted me to have him try to save the shrub that he would have to remove. He found and replaced a leaky bleeder valve and tee manifold. Since my whole yard was saturated with water due to the leak, and we were going to hit freezing temperatures tonight, he didn't want to put the saturated soil back on top in case it caused the pipes to freeze. He went to and got fresh dry top soil to fill the hole with. He went above and beyond expectations.

I called their hotline, they answered quickly, explained their whole "if we're late we pay you" schtick, and scheduled a guy to come out and give me the quote. It was after 6pm so it's an additional $100. If it's after 10pm it's another additional $200. The thing where they pay you if they are late is a little gimmicky, because they only really schedule the plumber when he's on his way. So I called, and then they called me like, 1.5 or 2 hours later to say he'd be there in the next two hours. I don't mind, but I figure it's good to be out there in the open. The guy got there, was polite and professional. He looked at what was going on and basically agreed that it was a leak in the sprinkler system and the best way to fix it in a pinch would be to replace the broken cut off valves. He informed me, as all honest plumbers do in my experience, that I should call a non-plumber. The quote he gave me to fix it was north of 2 grand. I called an irrigation guy after he left, at his recommendation, and the irrigation guy seems like he'll fix the problem for a tenth of what was quoted. Overall, a frustrating but positive experience. Why do pipes break?!

The customer service was great. Pricing is per service (ie scoping counts as a service) not per hour, however they are good to discount the service prices as the amount of services increase. Pricing per service is expensive however worth it if they run into trouble and have to extend their stay which is what happened in my case. They were there probably 6-7 hours so all in all not a terrible price for that long. The plumber was very courteous and conscientious of cleanliness and a pleasure to work with. Was helpful explaining things as he went along.
