Plumber claimed that the drain had a rupture in it as he removed mud on his snake. A subsequent clog showed NO mud from the drain to the cleanout. Due to the "mud issue" we had another company do the diagnostic camera through the drains. The camera revealed no ruptures, no mud, no clogs. Since there was no mud in the line, it makes me wonder whether I should even have paid for the camera work.
Description of Work: Estimated price, did work, charged set price. $199 to clear kitchen drain.

All is working fine. Clean-up was okay, but not great.
Description of Work: The plumber was knowledgeable, professional, and was there on time. I had a shower valve (the part behind the handle) installed for $405. The plumber also charged $169 to cut a 16 inch square into some drywall behind the shower (2 minutes of work). I offered to do it, but he warned me against it. I also had tub valves installed into an exposed roman tub for $389. This was 4 simple pieces of exposed copper pipes to be soldiered together. I had no choice as the shower was leaking, but I found both prices I VERY expensive! I supplied all the parts, so ended up paying just over $250 per hour. This company quotes by the job, not based on an hourly rate. If you have a simple job use someone else. If you anticipate a lot of trouble this company would be fine. I would not use this company again if I had more time to get quotes.

They were neat and punctual. The estimate originally was very reasonable, which is why I hired them. They were on time to do the work and got it done. They left everything clean when they were finished. The technicians were very knowledgeable.
Description of Work: I hired Benjamin Franklin Plumbing to install the gas service line to the fireplace for the gas logs. There was originally a copperline that went to the gas stove. They replaced th copper line with an approved gas line. They installed new gas valves on the furnace.

The work itself was fine, but my husband had a coupon from Angies List for the free service call and repair ($59 value) which I told them when I made the appointment, and he ended up paying $59. He forgot to give the plumber the coupon and right after he left I called the BF office and explained that we had the coupon and needed them to come back and get the coupon and give our check for $59 back. I was told that was fine but shortly after I received a call back telling me I needed to talk to the manager. I explained that they should call my husband as I was out of town and he was the one who was there with the plumber. They called my husband and when he explained the situation to them they continued to be confused and didn't understand what we were asking for. My husband ended up telling them to forget it because it was apparently too hard for them to understand (which it shouldn't have been) and he didn't have all day to sit at home and wait for them to figure it out. A service call/repair that should have been free ended up costing us $59. I don't appreciate the situation or the customer service we received and wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: One of our faucets wasn't working. The repair man took it apart, and fixed the problem.

I flushed my 9-10 year old water heater yesterday as I do almost every year, but this time the pressure relief valve would not close. Unfortunately it did not have a union on the line so I would have had to cut the pipe and solder it back if I replaced the valve myself. As I was not that adventurous I called Benjamin Franklin yesterday at 4:50pm and got an appointment for today between 8-10am. They showed up around 8:50am and gave me a quotes to replace the pressure relief valve as well as replacing the entire water heater. The installer was not pushy and was very informative. I decided it was not worth spending around $300 to fix the valve and have to replace the water heater in a few years. I was surprised when he offered to replace the water heater right away. By 12:30pm they were done. Now my new heater has a 6 year parts & labor warranty, meets code (with the installation of the new pan and drainage line), has a union so I can replace the pressure relief valve myself in the future if needed, and has a new quarter turn knob on the cold water supply. I am very happy with the promptness and speed of the service. I would use them again.
Description of Work: Replaced a gas water heater and installed a new drain pan under the water heater with a new drain to outside to meet code.

...a leak from an upstairs bathroom was damaging our ceiling in the breakfast room.... the plumber immediately cut a huge hole in the ceiling, said he fixed the leak, and left us with a big hole in the ceiling and exposed pipes, not to mention very hot air flowing down into our room when it was over 100 degrees outside. When it was clear the problem had not been fixed and it was "raining" in our breakfast room I called back. They were very nice , apologietic, refunded the money from the first visit and they immediately sent someone else out to look at the problem and after several hours and a return visit they were able to fix it permanently. We had to get the ceiling repaired at our own expense but I understand that; access through the ceiling was necesary to do the repair. Their willingness to refund our money and not re-charge for the new work has caused me to recommend Benjamin Franklin to others, They are not cheap...in fact I am not even sure they don't charge more than others....but the fact they show up when promised and do get the problem fixed has made me stick with them for a few more calls....all plumbers are expensive....punctuality and honesty are two things I am willing to pay extra for if necessary. Nightmare scenarios I have had with other plumbing compainies is not something I am willing to ever deal with again.

...a leak from an upstairs bathroom was damaging our ceiling in the breakfast room.... the plumber immediately cut a huge hole in the ceiling, said he fixed the leak, and left us with a big hole in the ceiling and exposed pipes, not to mention very hot air flowing down into our room when it was over 100 degrees outside.
