+ 1 moreI had a very good experience with them. They have a tight schedule because they are busy. They are cordial, and pleasant to work with. I think the price was normal. They showed up on time. I had to wait two or three weeks for them to come out. Everything was as expected.
Description of Work: American Leak Detection of Dallas fixed a leak under the foundation. They had to dig five feet under and five feet over. They tunneled in, instead of going through our living room. They changed out two lengths of pipe and buried it.

He called it a warranty fix and said Merry Christmas. They have a tight schedule because they are busy. They are cordial, and pleasant to work with. I think the price was normal. They showed up on time. I had to wait two or three weeks for them to come out.

+ -1 moreAmerican Leak Detection is one of the few companies, I mean I had four or five different people out there but they had the most professional and high end equipment. They did not charge me a thing. They came out twice to try to find the leak and spent probably an hour each time at least. They carefully listened and used all the high tech equipments to isolate my leak and my plumbing but they could not isolate it yet. I used a different company and I wrote a negative review on them because they were terrible, they were very unprofessional but I don?t remember their name. They had the equipment to do the job at the level that it should be done when I had the leak.
Description of Work: I used American Leak Detection of Dallas. They have not charged me yet because they cannot find the leak. I’m selling the house, I don’t live in the Dallas area anymore. I’m trying to keep my both places open until I actually sell that house and find out. As far as I know the new owners will probably continue to use American Leak Detection but I don’t have an idea. The leak was so miniscule that it cannot be detected.

+ -1 moreThe representative was a kind person but they were in a hurry to leave due to me appointment being the last one of the day. They didn't thoroughly check all plumbing. They found an issue and just stopped. Charged full price. They briefly told me what they found. They did not leave me with a report of any sort. I will not use again. Waste of money.

The serviceman came on time, did a thorough job of looking for the questionable leak. He found nothing, but had a suggestion what it was and he was right. I basically paid for the service call. All went very well and the service guy was great! I highly recommend them and will use them in my new house should there be a need.
Description of Work: We worried that we had some kind of leak in our drains going from under our house to the alley. American Leak came out with equipment and checked everything.

+ -1 moreI struggled on this review. In one hand the engineer that performed the work made some mistakes. One of those mistakes could have been serious if it hadn't been caught. Its for that reason that I didn't give the company an A in quality. That being said, when I contacted the company and explained my concerns they were very responsive. A supervisor came on site and inspected the work and was very honest and strait forward with me about what he found. They took it upon themselves to fix the issues and did everything they could to make it right. The moral of the story was, "People make mistakes" but American Leak detection stood behind their work and went above and beyond to make it right.

+ -1 moreTest the sewer system for leaks in a house I was going to purchase. The company arrived on-time and the gentleman was nice. However, he struggled to find the sewer cleanout on the outside of the house. After about an hour of looking he called his supervisor to come. Eventually they found it. Although it was buried, there was a big drain pipe from the pool going into another pipe right next to it... so it should have been obvious, based on experience, how to find it. Then the sewer test was performed. He struggled to get his test balloon in the right place and water-tight. I noticed a hissing sound and had to go in and tell him the balloon was leaking. He eventually performed the test and it took a few times to fill the sewer. All the while he didn't really seem like he knew what he was doing. Although I think he successfully showed there was indeed a sewer leak, I wasn't happy with his indecision and inexperience. I wasn't comfortable with this and so I won't use them in the future.

They quickly surveyed the area that was showing signs of leakage, tested the suspected source, and verified that was where the leak was coming from. They explained every step of the testing and had no problem with me watching the process. Once they verified the source of the leak they explained to me what all needed to be done to correct it. Great job - these folks are pros at this and have all of the equipment to do the job in an efficient and timely manner. I highly recommend them!!

American Leak Detection advertises that they stand behind their work and I can attest to this business ethic. After discussing the original problem and the eventual solution, Mr. Thompson offered to refund the cost of the service call, a gesture that I had not expected or demanded. I consider this ALD company to be a reputable and trustworthy business.

+ -1 moreI had received a water bill for almost $500.00 (5x my normal bill). I called them first thing on Monday morning and, unfortunately, the first opening that had available was the following Tuesday (8 days away). I went ahead and accepted it. About 2 hours later, they called back and said they had an opening and could have a tech at my house in 15 minutes. Mike, the tech, showed up and within minutes had done a cursory inspection and found no leak (which I had already suspected as I believe I had located the leak the previous month but just too late in the billing cycle). He then went on to do a full pressure check to verify his preliminary findings. Everything was good - no leak! I was very happy to not have a leak and didn't mind paying for the peace of mind that went along with that. I had used them before, as had my brother, and we have both been extremely pleased with the speed and accuracy. I will definitely be using them again should the need arise.

+ -1 moreApproximately 4 years ago, we used American Leak Detection to determine where we had a leak in our swimming pool water lines (both supply and return lines to the pump/filter system). We were continually adding water to the pool. We were losing about 2 inches of water every 2-3 days. They were able to find 2 leaks, one supply line break and a deteriorated seal around the pool drain. They used SCUBA gear to find the leak at the pool drain. The pool had to be drained in order to replace the seal around the pool drain. They installed a new seal and repaired the supply line beak and that eliminated the need to continually fill the pool. We were pleased with their work and except for normal evaporation we have not had to add water to the pool since the repairs.

+ -1 moreI had an arrival time between 11am-12pm. At 12pm, I called there office to get an ETA. They put me on hold and called the tech. They also apologized that he didn't call to update me...he ended up coming at 1pm. The problem itself was pretty simple. When we turned on the hose outside, water started coming into the kitchen floor (they share a wall). The tech didn't perform any moisture tests so there's no way to know for sure if our wood floors are damaged or have mold. He quickly found the cracked pipe, went to Home Depot to get a new one and replaced it. He also left behind the pipe so I could show my husband. I think the whole process took about 1 1/2 hours. In my opinion, $250 is a lot to replace a pipe but I was happy with the work.
Description of Work: The pipe outside was cracked, most likely from freeze weather. American Leak replaced it.

Description of Work: We had a water leak in an exterior pipe from our house that caused our water bills to more than triple. ALD came out and precisely pinned where the leak was, gave an estimate of costs to repair and came back a few days later to fix. It ended up being $200 more than quoted for the labor and parts needed but otherwise was very happy with service and professionalism. My only suggestion is that the $300 paid for an initial visit just to detect problem be applied to final bill, or at least part of it.

+ 0 moreEfficient and informative. Determined existance of leak which was my original request. I oked locating the leak(s) and getting plan to fix. They had worked fast enough in confirming leak that the search for leak only resulted in a $300. total cost for confirming leak and locating leak. No mess, no fuss. Just discovery and the plumbers layed out a plan to fix. They said they would be able to remove dishwasher and go through floor at that spot to access and fix break in sewer pipe. No damage to existing kitchen floor. That was a big deal ($) to me. We called Leak Finders the next day to schedule appointment. Got date. Looking forward to resolution. Have appreciated the business relationship with "Leak Finders" so far and trust what they say. When is the last time you said that about anybody you did business with? (minus one for ending sentence with a preposition but you get the picture that I'm a happy camper and expect the final results to be more of the same)

+ -1 moreThe technician was professional and methodical in attempting to locate the hot water leak. I had already run a meter test, so I knew the rate of leakage. And I knew it was hot water only (by running a test with the hot water off). There was a hot spot on the kitchen floor, so I knew approximately where the leak was. The only missing information was to pinpoint the leak so we knew what the repair options were (i.e. what wall we'd have to go through, where in the floor we'd have to drill, etc.). Unfortunately, they were not able to pinpoint the leak to a higher level of accuracy than we had already deduced ourselves. So we essentially paid $300 for an estimate, and because they couldn't pinpoint the leak, the estimate had a big price range and lots of caveats, and even the low end of the range was substantially higher than competitors. We ended up calling another company that gave a quick estimate based on the approximate location (without charging $300), and did the locating when they came out to do the work (& they stayed within the estimate). To be fair, I think A.L.D. still might be worth considering for locating services if you have no idea where your slab leaks are or how many you have.

+ -1 moreIt was an absolute disaster. I have a problem with the integrity of the company. They were not rude but I feel like they were not going to stand behind their work. I feel that the plumber should have taken care the expenses for the fix that he further created and do it in a timely manner. I do not like how the created an unliveable situation when i clearly had a livaeable situation to begin with.
Description of Work: I had a small leak coming from the pipes underneath the hot water heater in the garage with no running water. I had American Leak Detection come out. He said that he would have to dig up 5 feet near the structure of my home to fix the problem. I said that doesnt make any sense. I suggested for him to look at it from where the source of the leak was. The plumber agreed that he could go that route. He confirmed where the water was minutely leaking with the sound test. He said he was going to do one more thing to check the where the leak is coming from. He hooked up a air tank to the pipes to test the leak further. He ended up busting to copper piping and made the minor leak into a large leak. The plumber did not have a key to turn off the water. He said that I could run to Home Depot to get a key to shut off the water. I had a river of water running out of my garage upon returning from Home Depot. He left without fixing anything. I called the company after he left and asked why he didnt have the key and why did he did the air test. They said they wouldnt be able to come out after the weekend because no one was willing to work over the weekend. They said that I would have to only turn the water on when I took a shower and then turn it back off. My husband had an associate of his who referred Crown Plumbing. I talked to the secretary and she said she would try to find something immediatey and give me a call back. She called me back within five minutes and she said there will be someone in 10 minutes at my house. The owner of the company showed up to come fix the solution. Crown Plumbing was able to get it fixed in less than 4 hours.

He gave me a few points to try first as we weren't sure if the leak was in the pool or in one of the waterfalls.
