Description of Work: We had American Leak Detection come to identify how and why we were losing so much water in our 14 x 28 vinyl inground pool. We were a little surprised to find that we live outside of their standard service area and that we would have to pay an extra travel fee. And while a 45-minute drive isn't "right down the road", $180 travel fee seemed a bit excessive to us. Anyway, we went ahead with them because we were tired of the problems with our pool and wanted things done right. The worker arrived promptly on the day scheduled, explained what he would be doing, and got straight to work. He used what I would guess to have been pretty state-of-the-art equipment and he was very thorough. He worked from both on the deck and then also in down in the pool, doing a full diagnostic. When all was said and done, he had pinpointed two leaks: one by the skimmer, one by the main drain. He was able to describe the nature of the leaks and what had caused them, as well as how they could be repaired. The big disappointment for us was that one of the leaks they would not repair because we have a vinyl pool, the other they could not repair unless we drained the whole pool (and, by the way, we had just spent tremendous amount of time and money getting our pool sparkling so that leak detection could be done). So as a result, we knew where the leaks were (good) but were really in no better position than when we started (bad). Another slight disappointment we had was that we also had a leak on the equipment pad that they made no mention of. I fully realize that isn't really the type of "leak detection" they do, but you'd think at the very least they'd mention it to you and say "hey, you need to get that checked out by a pool company." I mean, IT IS actually a leak in system, so I don't think it's too far outside of their specific trade to notice it and say something. Ultimately, I think they did a superior job locating and diagnosing the leaks (one leak has since been repaired by a pool company and ALD was right on the money as to the location and cause), but we were a bit disappointed that they were unable to really help us fix our problem. In the end, it probably would have been cheaper if the pool company that actually did the repair had also done the leak detection. So as such, they did what they were supposed to do, but in our situation, it just wasn't very cost-efficient.

Description of Work: Replaced some broken iron pipe under the house with PVC> Brocken pipe was causing bug / odor issues, which seem to be subsiding. Also, re-set a toilet. Price seemed high, given the work took only 2 hours and the only materials needed were pvc and a wax ring.

Description of Work: We had a leak in our foundation. We called American Leak Detection. It was near the Thankgiving Holidays, so I wasn't going to have the work done until after T-day. They came out on a Saturday for an extra fee. My quote was $295 to find the leak and mark it, plus $18 for a trip charge and $90 for coming out on Saturday. They were well worth the expense. They were here for approximately 30 minutes and found exactly where the leak was.

I rely on American Leak Detection to assist with finding the leak. It does not matter if it is a supply line or drain line leak.
