The technician was very thorough at explaining what was needed. He estimated what the lifespan of the equipment was and how long we might realistically have. He was honest and open about it without, trying to be overly aggressive on the sales.
Description of Work: All Service Heating & Air fixed the heater. It would start and then always turn off in a matter of seconds. We weren't able to heat a certain area of the house.

He checked the unit and told me the start /run capacitor was bad. He replaced it and no improvement. He then told me the compressor was bad. He said they charge $280 for the cap. I googled it and it retails for $39. When replacing the cap didn't work he asked if I had a hose to cool the compressor. I got one but when I touched the compressor it was cool. He then told me the compressor was bad and I needed to replace the entire system. That's when I told him to put it all back and I'll deal with it later. Later I spent some time online watching vids on ac repair and found out how to ck if the compressor is bad. I did the tests and found that the compressor was find. After further Study I found that the problem was the circuit breaker on the outside by the condenser unit was failing. It still showed 240V But was short on Amps so the computer that controls the system didn't Have enough amps to engage the compressor. I replaced the breaker ($15) and the system hums Like a sewing machine.

The owner personally came to our house to review the issue, diagnose, and provide a quote for replacement. Their quote was reasonable and lower than the other 2 companies from which I received quotes. The work was done quickly and competently. The technicians were nice and professional. Following the installation, the owner returned to check the quality of the work and provide me with all warranty information. I recommend All-Service and would use them again.

The thing i like about All Service is that they always try to send the same tech to your house. Our tech knows where are units are ( in 2 different attics) and knows the history. And, you can build up a level of trust because you both know if you call, he'll be sent back out.
Description of Work: Came to do our seasonal check of the heaters and after testing the capacitor on one of the units found that it was below specs. He referred to his previous notes and noted that it was well within specs last year. So, he suggested replacing it. It was $145 to replace it.

Service technician arrived promptly about 20 minutes after notification call that he was on the way. He was very friendly, came and asked if I'd had any problems. He checked out the type of unit I had, ran a few tests, then checked outside. He took about 30 minutes, then came back with his recommendations. Our A/C unit is old (10-12 years old) and so of course, he said it needed to be upgraded to a new, more efficient system. I explained that I am covered by a Home Warranty and only items that breakdown are covered. So he recommended several other repairs that could be made, none of which would actually be covered by my Home Warranty, since they weren't actually items that were broken or not working right now. He left a list of items that could be replaced that would make the system work better. He seemed sincere and just trying to sell me some work I might be needing sometime soon.

He tried to sell annual maintenance contract and once I refused I don't think he even completed the work, although I have no way of verifying that. But it was clear that he was only interested in selling the annual contract. Many of these deals are meant to entice customers into spending more on other jobs

I was very impressed with the professionalism of All Service Heating and Air.
Description of Work: I called All Service Heating and Air to get an estimate for a new system. Jason arrived in the designated time window and was very knowledgeable. While looking at my existing equipment, he noticed a few things on the outside unit that needed repair (fan blade on outside unit installed improperly with dangling wires inside). He offered to fix them immediately, free of charge. I accepted and was very impressed with his willingness to fix the equipment despite the fact that he was called for a free estimate.

The service professional was really fast to schedule the appointment and to perform the service itself. He seemed to be able to point out what was wrong right away and addressed it for us on the spot. We will use them in the future to inspect our furnace this winter and would call them again if we had an issue.
Description of Work: Air Conditioning inspection and service. The technician inspected the units and cleaned them, then based on his findings, he replaced a few parts (majority of expense) that were in disrepair/need of service and fixed a duct that had come disconnected in our attic.

First of all, the whole HVAC service and repair business is obviously a huge ripoff. You pay insane overprices for all maintenance, repairs and equipment installations. This is true for a lot of adjoining businesses as well where the consumer doesn't have a clear understanding of the (lack of) effort and cost involved. In this case, my wife ended up paying around $600 for some annual HVAC maintenance program where they come to my house and check on the HVACs for an hours or so to the tune of $600. There is really not that much to check up, but they can use this for upselling of a number of repairs that may or may not be needed. It's the business model. Replacing one unit AC+Furnace can cost as much as $10,0000, so $30,000 if you have three; I am sure the parts cost only a small fraction of this. The "check-up" itself in this case went ok ($210 for around an hour + extra for refrigerant), but you end up wondering what you just paid for. I guess I just despise these situations where you know you're overpaying but most of us cannot repair HVACs so you are between a rock and a hard place :-(
Description of Work: Some type of "check-up". In hindsight I am not sure what they do, or if it is of any value. He filled up some refrigerant in one of the units which I knew beforehand was low.

Very quick response in the 106 degree TX heat. Rick checked the system and quickly found and replaced a blown startup capacitor. He also added a "startup boost kit" to assist the functioning of the aging unit. He was most informative about my what filters to use and had my home cooled down in less than an hour. Great response and service.

The AC was running fine until late July. We called All Service back since they worked on it in May. The guy who came out said that it would cost $1500 to repair our unit, and he couldn't guarantee that it would stay working for more than a few days after this. He never really explained what the problem was, it was frustrating. He then proceeded to tell me that he recommends we get an new unit. He discussed the new unit pricing for about 30 minutes with me. I paid $70 for this service call. It was a total waste of money. I decided to get a 2nd opinion. This honest Technician came and identified a leak right away and said I needed new freon and a system flush. All Service never mentioned a leak. I have the impression that the guy didn't want to work on an older unit, he just wanted to install one and make big $$. I ended up paying $450 to the honest technician that gave me the 2nd opinion. I will never use All Service again. I'm especially upset that they got my husband to pay them $100 for some kind of discount on future parts.
Description of Work: My husband bought a deal on Angies List for a $39.00 inspection, he ended up paying about $625 for services.

Arrived at the house and showed him to the thermostat. It was a name brand touch screen unit and he didn't seem to know how to turn down the air. After showing him how to work the thermostat he went through the rooms with the laser temperature reader checking the cooling. Everything checked out fine with the temperatures and I tried to explain to him just some concerns I had with the unit. The keyword is "tried" his zero concern and negative attitude really shined throughout the rest of the inspection after this moment. I showed him the hvac unit in the garage and he informed me that there was rust in the heater area and showed me some white powder which looked like sheet rock particles sitting on the heater ledge. He then took out a metal thermometer and tried jamming it through the fiberglass insulation that was around the ducts. After a few attempts I explained to him it's not just insulation there are actual ducts underneath it. He stopped poking holes in the outer casing of the insulation and moved onto the outside unit. Now don't get me wrong the outside unit was put in a bad place by the dryer vent of my home. So I assumed it was dirty but this is why I wanted to get a 2nd opinion and make sure everything was ok and if needed tuned up. He said something about getting the hose so I went to go get it. Now taking it apart before I knew you had to lift up the top fan to take of the side panels. But when I returned he decided the best approach was to unscrew it bend the ouside casing panel off. He showed me the dirt and claimed it would be impossible and not worth my time or his to clean it. He pulled up some website on his phone showing me that it's "really hard" to do and just to leave as is till I needed a new system. He said he would do it for $166 but it properly wouldn't clean it well and wouldn't be worth my money. He put the panel back on but not the way it was before since he bent the panel. He came inside and quoted me a new system and made rude comments when I asked how the system was "Are you just looking for me to say something good to you?" "I have more experience with the unit then you it's not going to work" This was just me asking if I could clean the unit with a vacuum and coil cleaner. That is when I basically wanted him to leave and never would use his company again. What a waste of $50 dollars, I want a refund for the time I wasted and the negative attitude he displayed in my home! After he left I took of the panels and cleaned off the "un-cleanable cotton wood and lint" off the coils. Which will hopefully will extend the life of the unit longer instead of just letting it die and purchasing a new unit as he wanted. Here is a before and after http://imgur.com/cdeiBjz .

Every person I cam into contact with from Julia to Jason to Antonio for installation were polite, professional, informative. They did the work when they said they would and took less time than quoted. I love my new system and the best part is the full warranty including service for 10 years. From my research its a fair price, not the lowest, but they are trustworthy providers that stand behind their work.
