Ignoring someone that you have really screwing up on is no way to do business!!! I do not have enemies but if I did I would reccomend AL!!!!!!! The response by al's is revisionist history and just a flat out fraudulent statement! Why would they not ever call me back after I said I am going to consult my lawyer! If I had never called al's I would have an extra $1000 in the my pocket from having to replace the ceiling in the master bedroom. WARNING TO DALLAS/FORT WORTH, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND AVOID al's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty shady operation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Description of Work: On 4/2/2010 I noticed water from the secondary drain for my AC was dripping from the second story of my town home. I googled ac repair 76021 and al's showed up. I called and scheduled an appointment. On 4/3/2010 An employee of Al showed up an hour late and told me I did not have an AC issue, I had a plumbing issue! 4/3/2010 2 hours later an employee of Al showed up to fix my plumbing problem with my AC????? Wow? 4/03/2010 Al plumber asked for a check an hour later for $279???? 4/4/2010 No water dripping from secondary drain so problem must be fixed! 4/5/2010 At 2am the d burst from the ceiling in the master bedroom of my house!! The ceiling was ruined, the carpet was drenched, and my Sealy mattress was water stained! The ceiling fan was slinging water across the room so the walls had to be dried and repainted! 4/5/2010 I started calling Al and only got an answering service! 4/5/2010 7am I received a call from Al stating they would be at my house shortly! They showed at 9:30am! They just kept saying wow to themselves! I had to loan them a flash light when they went up into my attic??? After coming down from my attic I was told they need to go back to the office and work up a repair plan? 4/5/2010 I was called at 1:00pm telling me they would be coming over to fix the problem and it would only cost $2400 I asked what the $2400 was for and all I was told was there is a lot of work that needs to be done up there? "Well we won't be sure until we are done" As soon as I said I need to consult my Lawyer, Al's went into hiding mode! The repair to the sheetrock, paint, and insulation was 1K, the amount spent to have the primary drained unclogged and the secondary reconnected ( only al's employee knows what his logic was???? ) was $300 I tried using the Tarrant County BBB (where Bedford is) I tried using the Colin Count BBB (where Al is) What a waste of time! PLEASE STOP THESE PEOPLE FROM PREYING UPON THE SENIOR CITIZENS OF THE WORLD!

Response from Al’s Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning
We went out on 4/3/10 at no charge on a non cooling possible leak issue. Found water leak and advised that a plumber was needed called our office and had a plumber sent out. Plumber found the stoppage and augered lavatory stoppage through the popup for the A/C condensate. Drain line was then open and draining at this time. The total for the service was $236.70. We returned back out on 4/5/10 there was a leak out of the air handler in the back corner, it was not flowing into the secondary pan for drainage. The pan was undersized for the unit and the duct work upon further investigation was leaking air and needed to be sealed. We left estimate to relevel air handler, replace drain pan with proper size and seal up air leaks and double check evap coil. Customer declined the repairs. This call also was at no charge to the customer. Total invoiced from both companies was $236.70.

The repair went okay. There were two guys who came, but both forgot and left their flashlight in my bathroom. A note was duct taped to my front door to call about the flashlight. I left it on the porch for him to pick up the next day, which he did, apparently. He spent most of the time at my house trying to sell me other parts for the toilet and talking about replacement toilets which were very expensive. I asked for only my bill but no thanks for all the other stuff. I declined a quote for the toilets.

Response from Al’s Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning
First of all the Member was not charged $178 but $156. Not only was she advised to change out the toilet which has been worked on several times over the past 10 yrs but was also advised that she needs a pressure reducing valve because of the extremely high water pressure. Our licensed plumbers are obligated and held responsible to inform our customers of such matters which can easily be disasterous to thier property if not corrected. In this case, the fact that the toilet is worn and the water pressure problem needs to be corrected.

I called and asked for a general estimate on some work I needed done so I called this company whom I had used several years ago. It was very common work for a plumber, but I couln't get an estimate via phone. The plumber would have to come out and look at the problem. That means a service call! Once you in, it is normally too much of an investimate to back out, even when you think you are being 'hosed'. I said no thanks and called the number one listing on Angie's List and got the work done on my terms.

He was not given a price over the phone in June 2008 when he called us to do work for him either. He was aware that we are a flat rate company and charge by the job not the hour. The CSR that answers the telephone is not qualified to give prices for work, only the licensed plumber can diagnois the problem and give a proper and correct price for the job. I assume when our company did a good job for him in 2008, and that it was good quality work at a reasonable price or he would not have called back.

I called Al's at about 1:00 pm and told them of the dilema I had with my 2 year old water heater ( with 9 year warranty) by Whirlpool...they told me they could come out and look at the situation and give me an estimate, if I agreed to the estimate they carry the size water heater I have on their truck and could install that afternoon. I agreed to the price and they did an exceptional job of removing the old and installing the new hot water heater and re-doing the plumbing to the recirculating pump. I will definitly use them again.

Al's came quickly to give me an estimate and assisted with Insurance issues. My Technicial Carlos Riveria was fantastic and went above and beyond the call of duty to help me with the whole process, including dealing with the Insurance company as well as installation of new furnace and fan. They also provide a good warranty on their products and arranged to help with financing. Very good job.

Plumber was apparently not knowledgeable in the least on basic routine maintenance. He looked at the bottom of the tank and said 'you can't see it on this one' and then concluded the only way to maintain was to check occasionally for leaks in the drain pan. Not helpful.

This experience triggered me to join Angie's List, the price of membership suddenly seemed trivial. On the list I found DT Air Conditioning and Heating. They were great (see my review) and I soon had a new compressor and a new slab, for the suddenly cheap-seeming price of $2015. Thank you Dana Tovi, and thank you Angie's list. $3,439 saved.
Description of Work: In my pre-angie's list days my downstais A/C failed. Not knowing where to turn, I consulted the yellow pages. Al's Plumbing, AKA Al's Air Conditioning and Heating, advertises on the front page of the AT&T Yellow Pages, and has coupons in the coupon section. So I called them. The technician (Danny? I can't make out the signature) arrived promptly and diagnosed the outside condenser/compressor as needing replacement. The diagnosis he gave me was mirrored, almost word for word, by the next service tech I hired, so appears to have been correct. I should say at this point that we had a compressor replaced on our Florida home last year for $1800, so when he gave us a quote for $5454 to replace the unit, we knew that he was overcharging by about 200%. When we pointed this out to him, he tried to convince us that it just because Texas is more expense, and no, there were no cheaper options. I was, and am, enraged by this blatant rip-off, but and trying to stick to the facts here, needless to say, I did not hire them to do the work.

It did not go well. He remarked several times how nice our home was and even asked me how much it cost! I felt that was very rude and didn't like the feeling that they were trying to sell me into other plumbing costs.
Description of Work: We called them for several issues and now I wish I had already been a member of Angie's List before calling. The service men came to our home and couldn't find the leak under the sink. He replaced 3 valves and that amount total the $650.00. We only wanted one replaced, but then he said we had to do the other 2, they mysteriously started leaking when he replaced the one. He tried selling me two new toilets, when all that was needed was the kit being replaced.

We were going on vacation and a shower head began to leak. I was out of town so my wife called Al's plumbing. When the plumber showed up he said he would need to replace the fixture for $800. We have brass fixtures and he told her that they do not make brass anymore and that chrome was the current trend. He then cut a 2'x2' hole in our custom ragged bedroom wall to install the fixture. When I arrived home I called Delta who told me that my fixtures were under warranty and that they would send me a kit (cost to buy $50) to take care of this common fix. I also asked if they still made a line of brass fixtures and of course they did. I then proceeded to call Al's plumbing to ask for an explanation. I asked to speak to a manager and when I explained the situation he replied (in a very abrupt and rude tone) that if my wife was not a decision maker then I should not have had her there alone. He told me he stood by their work and basically hung up on me.

He came out and immediately said the problem was the water heater in the adjoining laundry room and that it would need to be replaced. He replaced the water heater, which ended up being a bad water heater which he immediately replaced again. We pulled the carpet up that was ruined by the leak, but the next time we did laundry the leak returned. Thankfully we hadn't replaced the carpet yet. We called Al's Plumbing to have them address the issue or give an adjustment and got no response. We called another plumber to fix the leak which was actually caused by a clog between the kitchen sink and washing machine. The water heater didn't even need replacing.

Our water heater failed after 19 years; my regular plumber was not available and so recommended Al's Plumbing. The office staff was very polite and helpful and pleasant. The plumbers came that very morning (it was still leaking and I was worried), gave the quote, and performed the work directly as they had the equipment on the truck. The two young men who did the work were very nice, polite, professional (i.e. clean cut) and did a very good job; they didn't seem to mind my watching over their shoulder and after it was installed they explained the water heater's features. The office arranged for the city inspection and we passed that today. The only complaint I had was that they had to enlarge a hole in the sheetrock where the waterline comes in and it looks bad but it's not too bad a deal because it is hidden in the closet in the garage. If it were visible I would have insisted they enclose the hole. Overall very happy.

THE MEN WERE PROMPT, CLEAN CUT AND VERY SAFETY MINDED. ALL MY QUESTIONS WERE ANSWERED WITH VERY DETAILED INFORMATION. THEY WORKED VERY HARD ON A MAJOR LEAK AND REMAINED COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY. THE WORK IS WARRANTED FOR 1 YEAR, PARTS AND LABOR AND THEY OFFER A DISCOUNT FOR SENIORS. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY.
Description of Work: AFTER GETTING THE NECESSARY PERMIT, THE PLUMBERS TESTED FOR LEAKS. BOTH THE VERTICAL LINES AT THE HOUSE AND THE METER WERE LEAKING AND WERE REPLACED. AFTER FURTHER TESTING, THE LINE THAT RUNS FROM THE HOUSE TO THE METER WAS FOUND TO BE LEAKING. IT WAS NECESSARY TO DIG A TRENCH AT LEAST 18" DEEP FROM THE METER TO THE HOUSE, AVOIDING A POOL DECK AND GOING UNDER A FENCE (AROUND POOL EQUIPMENT) AND WORKING AROUND A TREE, IN ORDER TO COMPLETELY INSTALL A NEW GAS LINE. IN ADDITION, 9 SMALL LEAKS WERE FOUND AND REPAIRED IN THE HOUSE AT VARIOUS CONNECTIONS. IT TOOK 3 DAYS TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR.
