Jeff came by and then gave me an estimate later that day. He did quite a bit of research to get me the metal gate I requested. The crew came when he said and were very responsive to any concerns and questions I had. The end result was just as I had pictured and they did a good job of cleaning up. I couldn't be more pleased with the result. The amount charged was more than I anticipated but it was due to having to haul off the bricks to a specialized site as you can't just dump them.

Jeff worked very hard to make sure that we were completely happy with the results. We used Affordable Fence several years ago for a new fence and we received the same wonderful work and reasonable price. This company is one to work with. Very well. Jeff made an appointment and kept it - he knew how to correct the problem - his crew was efficient, fixed the problem, and put back all landscaping. Apparently the original contractor had not grounded a pole in cement, and therefore, the two wooden sides of the fence were gaping around a column. (We had purchased a foreclosed home last fall, and we are still trouble-shooting in various areas.) We hired the original contractor for the fence this past spring, and they made some repairs and painted the fence, however, we could not get them back out to deal with the fact that the fence was pulling away in the corner. Therefore, we found Affordable Fence on Angie's list, and we are happy with the repair.

Jeff came out right away, gave a great estimate and completed the job quickly and efficiently. The fence is beautiful and definitely high quality and well-made. i love it! He also answered his phone every time we called and was great at communicating with us and making sure we were 100% satisfied. I highly recommend them and will definitely work with them again in the future!

Jeff worked with me on a property I was getting ready to put on the market. I did not have much experience in dealing with fences. He was very patient in answering all my questions. His guys arrived when they said they would and got the work done. They went above and beyond getting everything I needed done in a timely manner. I was very happy with their work and will call on Affordable Fence again on future projects.

They were professional and polite. Jeff came out and checked on them then came back the next day for an inspection. Not pushy about getting paid. Waited for check until the next day.

Mike came out and did an estimate which was the the best price of the three estimates we had done. We had arranged for the installation to start the following week. Day one: The crew removed the old fence and installed about 2/3 of the new fencing including a very nice gate, and completed the new fencing the following day. They asked for clarification on small details, so the fence was exactly what I wanted. The staining was done the following day. I am very pleased with the quality of the work and its final appearance. The crew was unobtrusive, polite and professional.

Exceeded expectations in every way. Unbelievable quality, cleanup was perfect...old fence stacked so well on the curb that it was, in itself, a work of art. Gates are incredibly rugged and well made. Precise fit! Overall, if all of my Angie's list projects go like this, I will be thrilled.

Found Mike here on Angie's List, and was a pleasure working with him throughout the process. He was easy to get in touch with, came out to bid quickly, and the job was scheduled and completed in less than a week (one day job.) One other company was invited to bid at the same time but didn't show up the day scheduled and bid me via email, but I prefer to work with someone I've met in person and I can tell Mike takes pride in the work his company does.I wouldn't hesitate to use them again based on this experience. Terrific.Guys arrived early along w/Mike and he left once they got going. They were complete by late afternoon.The entire fence had been leveled plumb and it looked great. I could see where they had dug every post along the alley and neighbor sides of the fence and had filled the holes w/more concrete on the posts they weren't replacing. The ones they did replace were all set 3' deep (Mike said all the original posts were only 14" deep). You can really feel the difference pushing against it...feels very solid now.Once Mike came back the next day, we walked the fence and he noticed a few things that needed touchup and we also identified a a few more split boards. He said his crew could be back out Friday the 4th to wrap it up. In the meantime I did a sprinkler system test and discovered one of the heads nearest the house and fence corner was broken at the PVC level as it was bubbling up around the base...his guys repaired that as well on Friday when they came to finish up the few items that needed additional attention.The whole experience with Mike and his guys was extremely positive and I'd whole heartedly recommend them and gladly call him again if/when a fencing need arises.He was one of a couple quotes we got (based on reviews in here) but he was the most personable and I just had a good feeling about him as opposed to the other. Mike was also able to quickly answer questions whereas the other guy wasn't (the other one couldn't tell me why the posts were leaning and I knew it every before Mike confirmed it...it bothered me that a fence guy didn't know why posts could be leaning...he thought I had a pool and was pushing the dirt outboard causing the posts to move).As a matter of face, I plan to talk to my inlaws that need fence work and recommend that Mike go and fix them up too...excellent work at a fair price. Call him!

Upon my acceptance, Mike was on the go constantly, sending me a copy of the utility search request, calling and asking about any special instructions, and confirming the specs. Yes, I did want a slight alteration: the original fence went stright back to the gate, then inexplicably encroached upon the driveway by protruding slightly onto the driveway. A minor thing to look at, unless it's in your sideview mirror showing that if you back up straight you'll rub your rear fender against the fence. Both the fence and several cars have received the scars to prove it. Mike's crew was out by nine Tuesday morning, pulling and stacking the old fence and setting the posts. I was pleased to see that the difference between a one day job and a two day was Mike's use of conventional concrete v. Quik-crete, a provision for whch the other company required my wife to initial approval. They worked a full day Wednesday, still finishing the gate when I got home from work. The result was all Mike promised, a perfect fence. All posts are true, reinforcement is excellent, the catwalk is double trimmed and leveled perfectly from eight feet to about six and a half feet at the garage to allow for the drop to the alley. And yes, Mike, you're right. My wife can even swing on the gate, it's so sturdy. Communication was excellent and there were no surprises. As long as you belong to Angie's list, you should take advantage of it's most significant value. The most popular company may be a little less competetive in it's pricing, knowing many people will be content to call only them. You'll undoubtedly get a good product, but you may be able to find the same for less. I most highly recommend Affordable Fence Co!

I contacted Mike for an estimate on constructing a new fence on our creek lot in Plano. Ours is a unique project in that there is not an existing fence to be torn down and replaced. Because of this, we will have to navigate the city hall permit process and get pre-approval for the new fence, including the location considering existing easements, city fence building codes, etc. Although I knew we had these issues, I don't know how to approach solving them and I was looking for a fencing company to tackle that for me. I was VERY impressed with Mike when he told me that considering the multiple and unusual circumstances of our project, he does not typically work in situations like mine. I would MUCH rather he tell me now instead of getting any further down the road and wasting both our time, and possibly even my money. I genuinely appreciated Mike's honesty and professionalism, even when it meant I couldn't hire him for the job.

It went very well. I e-mailed Mike and he came by and took a look and sent me some estimates. Mike was VERY helpful and willing to explain what options we had. I talked to several vendors on Angie's list and you can get all types of woods, stains, posts and approaches. After Mike and I agreed on what we wanted to do, he got all the permits and started a couple of days later. The team removed all of the old fence and posts and stacked them on the driveway to be hauled away. They worked through some pretty bad weather to get all of the posts set in the concrete before they would leave. The gates were a major upgrade from what we had. They are much sturdier and very solid. I had forgotten to tell Mike that we wanted the pool pump enclosure replaced as well. His team really worked hard to see what they could salvage from the old one to keep the price down. As it turned out, the posts were rotten and needed replacing. I very much appreciated Mike working with me to keep the additional costs down. They put up a great board on board fence and the team worked really hard and long hours to complete it in four days even with some weather delays. When they were finished, they took all of the old fence materials and hauled it away. I can not say enough about how good this process was. I would recommend Mike and the team to anyone.

I had first contacted Mike Whitley two years ago because my fence was listing toward the alley, and I was concerned that it could eventually fall into the alley under the stress of a high wind or soaking rain. Mike evaluated my circumstances and showed me how to measure the fence tilt vs. what the city code allowed. He said my fence was not about to topple, and that I could postpone the work until it was more convenient for me, as it was well within code. He explained that the original fence contractor had not sunk the posts deep enough to prevent this problem from worsening, but that there was no urgency to do the work now. I was appreciative of the fact that Mike was willing to suggest waiting on this project with no guarantee I would contact him in the future. (He also gave me the name of a contractor who stained fences, since I had mentioned that was a project I wanted to complete within the next few weeks. That contractor did an excellent job). The fence continued to list toward the alley, and I called Mike again after the two year interim. This time Mike said we needed to proceed, and he explained in detail how he would upright the 50 feet of leaning fence and how he would make certain I didn't suffer this problem in the future. I was scheduled within a few days and his men showed up on time (along with Mike) on the appointed day. They excavated the entire 50 foot length on the inside of the fence (to provide room to thrust the fence into an upright position). They removed the old steel posts and wooden retainer posts that were imbedded in concrete and moved the entire 50' length of fence back to a vertical position. Using props, they held the fence in it's rightful position while they dug holes for the steel posts and wooden retaing posts. Then they set the new posts in 3' + deep concrete bases. The trench was refilled along the inside of the fence and the excess dirt spread in accordance with my directions. They also made minor repairs to the fence and also to a matching wooden pool equipment enclosure that was attached to the fence they had uprighted. The entire project was completed in about 1 and 2/3 days. Update: I recently required an estimate for fence repairs resulting from a hailstorm to submit for insurance purposes. Jeff Whitley responded within minutes with a written estimate sent to me via email. Mike and Jeff run a business that places high priority on responding to the needs of customers in a timely fashion. This most recent experience only serves to validate the points I made in the earlier review.

Had an appointment to meet with someone from Affordable Fence Co. for a fence estimate at 1:00pm on 2/2/12.Thirty minutes past the appointment time, had not heard from anyone. I called and got voicemail-left a message for someone to call me and let me know what was going. Someone called back about 5 minutes later and said he was sorry that he had 4 men out with the flu. I relayed to him that he or someone should have called me and let me know this. He could have at least called me this morning to relay this as I was waiting for someone to come out and could have been out accomplishing other tasks otherwise. This service was recommended by a friend. You think I would have learned by now-this is so typical, but from now on I will call at least 3 to 4 hours prior to the appointment or the prior day to ensure that someone will be coming out.

My old fence was falling apart. I called several Angie's List contractors and received multiple estimates. When Mike came out to give me an estimate he was friendly and knowledgeable. His estimate was the most reasonable - out of 3 estimates which ranged from $5645 - $8000.00. While cost was a factor, it was not the main reason I chose him. Based on my interaction with the 3 companies, I felt most comfortable with Mike. His crew completed my fence on time and it looks wonderful. A month or two after the installation, I noticed that several of the boards on one of the gates were cracking (I believe that this was caused by my dog ). I called Mike and he had his crew out the next business morning. They replaced the damaged boards at no additional cost. I am very happy with the quality of the work and the service provided. I would highly recommend Affordable Fence Company. I've received many compliments on my new fence and my next door neighbor decided to use Affordable Fence Company to install their new fence.

We called several companies for a quote. Affordable was the first to call us back and the most professional. Their quote was also the most competitive for what we wanted - 6 foot cedar, board on board with steel posts and two gates. They had to start the work a day late to do weather but they were still able to complete in the timeframe they quoted. They were very professional and called for our option and approval on a solution to working around some wild trees in the fence line. The workers were very neat and cleaned up every day and the owner came out several times to check the work and make sure we were happy. They did a great job and I would highly recommend Affordable Fence Company.

Mike was very quick to respond to my phone call and e-mails. I asked a lot of questions and I felt like he gave me honest answers. The crew of 2 arrived early and got right to work. They were amazing. It took these 2 guys 2.5 days to completely tear down and replace my fence. The neighbor's fence took 4-5 guys and 4 days. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

These guys know their business and their workmanship is outstanding. Mike came over to review all the options available and to give me an estimate. He was thoroughly professional. There was no ?upselling? and no bias toward the more expensive options. He quoted the full repair, with details on the work and exactly how it was going to be accomplished. On the day of the job Mike, and a crew of three, showed up at 8:00 am. hey hit the ground running. They were careful not to damage any landscaping and they worked straight through to completion. They added six new metal support poles to the fence, burying them a full 36? minimum. They also righted the existing poles. The retaining wall was lowered by one tier along approximately 60-feet. The wall was also ?notched? in 4-5 places to allow runoff, should rain threaten to cause erosion. The job was over quickly, and the yard was cleaned. The results were excellent. I highly recommend Affordable Fence for any similar work.

I was very pleased with the work done. My car had rolled down my driveway, accross the alley into my neighbors fence. Needless to say, I wanted and needed to have the fence fixed as soon as possible. I left a message on Mike's phone on Thursday evening, he called me back Friday morning and by that afternoon the job was finished. The amazing part? He quoted $395. When he emailed me the bill, he had reduced the price to $295 because it had not taken as long to finsh the job as he had predicted. That's why when it comes time to replace our fence (in the near future), I'll be calling Mike at Affordable Fence Company.

Very fast service, quality work, and excellent prices. Recently, a section of our fence collapsed on a Sunday evening. We had called Mike from Affordable Fencing once before to repair some storm damage and his company had done a wonderful job, so we called them again. Mike came by to assess the damage and gave us an estimate on the spot, and the repairs were finished the next day. In both instances, the work was done beautifully and did not exceed the estimate given.

Mike promptly returned my phone calls and emails, and quickly provided a written quote for replacing my fence. The work was done exactly as scheduled and exactly per the quote. Mike's crew removed my old fence, installed a nice new one, and hauled away the old fence. The total time between our first phone call and completion of the work was about a week. The actual fence replacement took about three days. The fence is covered by a generous warranty.

Because of the repairs needed on the gate, he felt I would be better serviced by someone who specializes in automatic gates. He gave me the name of someone to call. I appreciated his candidness and willingness to provide another name. I contacted the other company and have scheduled the work. I would consider using Affordable Fence in the future because of how this was handled.
