The workmen arrived on time on the designated day. Were very dedicated to the job at hand. Cleaned up afterwards and left.

They were very prompt in answering my emails and very good about updating me if there was a problem with their schedule. At exactly the time the rep indicated, 2 workmen did indeed show up and cheerfully set about repairing my gate. They strengthened it, replaced all the hardware, replaced a few fencing slats and put a reinforcing 2x4 across the back that looks good and works well. Other companies wanted to charge me much, much more for extravagant gates that would look out of place next to my old but attractive painted fence. Only one very, very minor glitch: I saw that the bottom of the new slats was longer than the old ones by almost an inch. I had noticed, as I approached them, that the workmen were in the process of unplugging and putting away a circular saw. I'm not sure why they hadn't already cut off the excess on their own, but I asked them to do so, and they cheerfully complied. I will be filling some old holes with putty and painting the new slats shortly. The gate looks great and is nice and sturdy now, thanks to them!

His price was average. It wasn't too high or too low. He did excellent fence repair.

This my 3rd time to deal with Mike. He came out promptly, made an estimate and then did the work within about a week. It is nice to have someone you can trust that you can just call and turn the problem over to.

Outstanding from start to finish! We had quotes from several other reputable companies, but it was an easy decision to go with Affordable. Mike called me back within an hour of asking for a quote, went by the house the same day, quoted it that afternoon, and replaced our fence while we were on vacation! We came back to a gorgeous new fence and couldn't be happier. His team was meticulous about cleaning up. Except for the new fence, we couldn't tell anybody had been there! Would gladly recommend Mike to anyone and everyone.

Mike was great. They did the job while I was out of town. Mike was very responsive and promptly return my calls for an estimate unlike other companies on the list. I would gladly use him again. I was not present when his workers showed up, but I have no complaints. Mike personally comes out to check the work of his guys to make sure it is up to his standards.

I called Mike for a fence estimate, he called back the next day and advised I would receive written email estimate in 2-3 days. Never received estimate, he never followed up with phone contact.

I looked on Angie's List for a fence repair company to get rid of the vine growing between fences and to fix a few things to get it ready for re-staining. I discovered that Affordable Fence, who installed our side yard fence about six years ago was listed. The fence was still standing and looking good, so I called them again. Mike Whitley came out for the estimate. Very convivial fellow and even told me how I could go to Home Depot and buy the pressure treated boards myself and how to push back the dirt to nail them on. I thought it was kind of him to offer me a way to save money by doing it myself, but I surely did not want to. So, he suggested the other tasks that should be done to get my fence ready for re-staining, and they made sense to me. He gave me a time his crew could come out within the week! Two men came and they were great. I know limited Spanish and supervised them the whole time because I wanted to make sure they put on enough Round Up to kill the vine, and make sure they did not damage any tubing for my Mosquito Nix system. They came with an electric saw and all the boards and things needed. They really knew what they were doing and were fast, professional, nice, and cleaned up everything. Even hauled away the vines. I had already had one fellow (highly recommended on Angie's list) come for an estimate but I had to "chase him" to come out and then ask for the bid and it came in higher, and he couldn't even give me a date when he could start, maybe up to 8 weeks out. My fence staining company recommended a fence repairman, but he never returned my call. So Mike and Affordable Fence looked really good, and they were absolutely great. Their work is outstanding and my fences and gates are good to go!

The work was completed exactly as they said they would do. They finished the work on time. I rate them high overall and I will use them again in the future.

Mike Whitley was a real pleasure to deal with: communicative, punctual, and conscientious in every aspect. We really could not be more pleased with the fence. In the past, we'd had trouble with other contractors, so we were nervous; but we found we could completely trust Mike. He's been in this business over 30 years--started it with his father--and the integrity really shows. Our tenants living there are thrilled with the result as well. Mike Whitley took time to explain things all along, and we never felt pressured or rushed. Their stain man, Mike Smith, was also excellent to work with. Would we use them again? Most definitely! This is one contractor you don't need to feel nervous about.

They were on time and finished in 1 day. They did a quality job. They tripped a breaker a couple of times with the air compressor. The fact that no one on the crew spoke english made it a little difficult to help them remedy the problem. They cleaned up verything well, the fence looks very good and the built it exactly to my instructions 1st tiem. Mike apparantly communicated very well what I wnated done.

Mike showed up on a weekend on two seperate occasions to examine and brainstorm with my ideas. His experience, and the experience of his team members is fantastic. I was not sure about going 8 feet high all the way around, not becasue of cost, but because of how it would look. I didnt' want a "fortress." Was Mike ever right. It looks great! The most impressive part to me was the fact that due to the amount of rock in my soil, they could not use an auger at all!. Despite that, all the posts were hand dug to the proper depth and, amazingly, they lined up within fractions of an inch (and yes, I checked every day to ensure the quality Mike promised). I would have bet money that the posts would all be of center a bit. I would have lost that money. I'm still amazed by the quality and execution. In the end, MIke even turned me on to a great stain guy who quickly stained my fence and purgola, which was in awful shape and looked even worse now that the new fence was up (Smitty's Wood Care). When it came to payments, I was left very comfortable. Mike actually placed the order for materials, and I paid for them and had them delivered to my house. Good peace of mind considering all the shady contractors out there. If anything went wrong, the materials were mine and in my posession. All in all, Affordable Fence was a great choice. Competetive on price and second to none on finish. My only regret is not posting this review much sooner. If anyone wants to see thier work first hand, Mike has my OK to send you over to my place for a look!

They were very, very good. They corrected all of the problems and left me very happy. He was a very nice and professional gentleman who did a wonderful job. They were just top-notch.

Excellent. Mike is very good to work with and keeps in touch regarding all details. His crew was punctual, worked for about 3 days until the job was complete. The quality of the fence is excellent and we are quite pleased with all aspects of the job. They installed retainer boards all around and were careful to ensure that the bottoms of the fence planks were above ground level to protect them from water damage.

Called Mike Whitley for an estimate, he wasn't there and I left a voicemail. He didn't call back after 24 hours, based on the reviews here, I figured I would try again. He does call back and I explain I needed a new 150' fence and gave him my address. He never shows up! I call the next morning and leave a voicemail, no return call. I call and leave voicemail with the manager (Carl or Chuck, starts with a C) after a couple days - no callback from the manager! What a waste of time! I'm trying to give money to someone and they don't show up and then don't return calls?? ###My response to company response below### Of course I called the right number, after the second time of me calling, YOU CALLED ME BACK. (and didn't show up the next day) I called the same number subsequent times. I only tried so hard because of the reviews here, never again. ###

I thought they were going to replace the gate, but they removed a couple of boards, added a board and moved the hardware around. This did fix the problem, but I was charged a "minimum " fee. I paid way too much for this service.

After filling out numerous fields of information, the page did not work. Called to discuss and they do not service Frisco, TX. Their offices are 7 miles away from our home but apparently that is too far away from them to do business. Not the friendliest phone call I've made either but I guess they are busy so they don't need to be friendly!

The project went very smoothly. They showed up each day on time and worked with hardly a break until the sun was going down. The project was complicated because the cost of the retaining wall was shared between us and the neighbor, plus the neighbor had her fence replaced at the same time. So, the job had several parts and required Affordable to coordinate the work, scheduling, and payment between the two households. Furthermore, after the old retaining wall was removed, they discovered a large amount of hidden concrete which also had to be removed and replaced with fill dirt, work that had not been anticipated and so was not in the bid. Affordable took it all in stride and did the extra work without charging extra money or taking extra time. They did a huge amount of work in a very short time with a fairly small crew. Everybody was extremely courteous and careful not to cause any unnecessary damage to the landscaping in the work area. When they were done, they even picked up every bit of scrap and trash, making it look like the new wall had just appeared by magic. I cannot recall ever having a better experience with a contractor. The retaining wall looks great and like it will last forever, and so does my neighbor's fence.

The work took about three days. They did spectacular work across trhe board. I met with the owner personally multiple times to go over the project and to work around some special conditions that we had. They used high quality materials. They laid everything out in great detail and made sure that we understood everything before they did any of the work. It was a wonderful experience.

My 14 year old fence was a causality of spring storm. I called several companies to get quotes. Many didn't call me back, of those that did Affordable Fence had the best price by $1000. After quoting out the materials myself, their price was only $500 that me doing it myself. That may have been the best $500 I've ever spent. Mike was great to work with by phone and email. The materials arrived on time and the crew was great. They were very professional, efficient, and done before they said they would be. They worked with me on details, cut down branches where need, and did a great job on clean-up. The quality was better than I could have imagined. I tell people the two gates work better than any other door in my house. I couldn't be happier with my fence and would recommend Affordable Fence to everyone I know.

Their price was very good. They did what they said. They did a good job. They came early because we wanted it right away. Someone came out to follow up afterward. They measured part of the fence wrong and they said "yeah you're right" and they fixed it.

He was awesome and did excellent work. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He showed up on time. He is 'affordable'. He was very good at doing everything right. He was very neat and clean.

A storm tore down my backyard fence. Affordable made everything very easy. All of the communication happened via email. They gave me an estimate. I accepted and paid Home Depot directly for the materials. The work was done fast and on schedule. The fence looks great.

We had a good experience. They weren't on time they were a few hours late due to incorrect directions. They did exactly what they said they would. They left my hose on and I didn't notice for 5 hours but they were apologetic. They did a very good job so I am glad they were available. I did not receive a paper invoice, and I am still waiting on it.

I considered AF based on the positive feedback on Angie's List. I contacted Mike Whitley and asked that he come out to give me an estimate on replacing a fence. He inquired about the scope of the job and I indicated that it was small (replace 25' of fence with 2 gates, 8' fence, metal poles, cedar slats, stained) and he said based on my description he did not need to come out and would e-mail me an estimate. Mike e-mailed me an estimate that at first seemed competitive but given the lack of detail I emailed him back with a detailed list of specifics, based on other quotes that I had received, and indicated that if his quote included what I had listed the job was his, then I waited. Five days passed with no response so I called. Mike said that he would call me back. Two days later he emailed me saying that my job was to small and if it was OK with me he'd refer the job to a sub. I wrote him back saying that I decided upon him based on feedback from Angie's List and that if he wanted act as the contractor on the job and subcontract the work out I'd still consider using him but if he was unwilling to stand behind the work of one of his recommended subs (including extending any Affordable Fence's warranties to work performed by the sub) I'd chose another contractor. He called me the next morning and said he would do the job. He later wrote me and asked if I wanted the fence stained. I wrote him back telling him to look at the list I sent him a week earlier which clearly said "Finish - Stained". He wrote me back and said "Can't work for free....I'll take you off the schedule". What a waste of time.
