1st Class Heat & Air

It was fine. We used them right away. They didn't install a filter for it. In the next month, we were flabbergasted with it. It could have broken down again. One sloppy error could be huge so I didn't like that.

Great job! Needed a/c repair work on a house I recently purchased. 1st class pointed out easily fixed issues with my unit that not even the inspector caught like an exhaust with a completely separated tube which was blowing into my attic instead the outside! He fixed all at no cost even though he came to fix the outdoor unit. Replaced outdoor a/c fan quickly after all necessary tests. This was the 2nd opinion on my unit and he was honest and his advice was balanced. Previous repair person said entire unit was a lot older than it really was and said I would be throwing away money if I didn't replace the whole unit. That wasn't true. Dates were hard for me to interpret so I trusted what the original repair person said but I needed a second price to compare to. 1st class showed me the dates and the unit wasn't that old. He said I had options. I made the decision to replace just the broken part since I wasn't ready to buy an entire unit. Very happy with my experience.

The repair guy was friendly enough and got the job done fast. However, my criticism is that he offered me two options for the part but when he found out he was out of the cheaper option he went ahead and fitted the more expensive option although that was not my choice.

Very professional. Arrived in a timely manner. Explained things in a way that I understood. Gave me options that worked for my situation. No one likes to replace high dollar items but I felt confident in and at ease with my purchase. The best part was they had me cold again quickly and I have a great warranty!

Technician arrived on time and was very professional. We have had a continuous problem with one room consistently warmer then the rest of the house. With prior service by other companies, we have been told there was a small leak requiring a refrigerant recharge. With 1st Class, they advised no refrigerant was required and all looked in good shape. The issue appeared to be with our duct work in the attic. I feel he took the extra time to assess the problem when the easy thing to do would be to throw refrigerant at it. Would use them again.

We double checked the prices they quoted us for the unit online with other companies and it was more than fair. They were able to get it installed before nightfall and we finally slept in a cold house! We love the new unit. I also use this company in my real estate business because they will do a thorough inspection for only $39.90. They have saved my clients thousands by pin pointing HVAC problems that the regular whole-house inspector didn't catch.

Added note: he did not diagnose that there was a bad valve or condenser unit - which we later had to replace just a month later. And we needed more freon again

AC stopped blowing cold air - figured out that the compressor is not working. Called the 1st Class Air. 1) Made appointment vi phone at around 7:00 am - was given a time between 10am-12noon the same day. Filled out the online appointment form as well. 2) Technician showed up at the right time...(fun starts..) Technician: Hello...so AC is not working ? Me: Yep Technician: Can I see the thermostat. Me: Er?.... ok (Technician walks to the media room ) Technician: (Looks at the thermostat)...Hmm.. oh boy, I hope its not a blown compressor - I have seen a lot of these in recently. Me: Oh...man.. Me: I hope its not 'that' either. Technician: Ok.Can I look at the unit now. Me: Ok. (I tell him which unit it is and get back inside) (7-8 minutes later) Technician: Good News. The problem is not a big one - its just the 'voltage regulator', its blown and I have to change it. Me: Cool...but did you say voltage regulator? Technician: Yeah Voltage Regulator Me: Capacitor? Technician: Yeah - voltage regulator. (Technician changes the capacitor - checks for the gas, offers to clean up the unit with bio-degradable soap for $120) (Takes 15-20 minutes and then walks back in) Technician: Ok... total will be $286.41, plus what you have already paid ...the $19.00 on the Angie's list. Me: Huh..Er so I how much should I pay you. Technician: I just need the check for $286.41 as you have already paid the $19.00 Me: Oh.. so it will be over $300.00 for replacing the capacitor. Technician: Yeah .. voltage regulator. Me: Ok... I write the check. Lessons: (1) Never call AC guy when you are in the middle of a busy working day - tolerate the heat for a day and search for deals so that you dont get taken to a ride. (2) Buy a decent multi-meter and a spare run capacitor - it costs $8.00 retail at Home Depot. (3) Keep the manual of your AC unit handy.

It took too long to get a hold of him. We didn’t like his attitude and he said he had a back log.

We couldn't be happier with the service. Our AC stopped cooling last night, and we called a handful of different companies this morning to try to get someone to come out ASAP. 1st Class sent a tech out less than 3 hours later. The very friendly technician inspected the system and determined that we needed to replace the capacitor. It took him about 15 minutes total, from the time he arrived to the time our AC was pumping out cooled air again. We were very impressed with their responsiveness and availability.

System broke down in 100 degree weater and 1 st class air was ready to come out immediately when other companies used before scheduled me out at least 24 hours. The service and technician were beyond satisfactory The repair was simple and there was no pressure to increase the scope of repair. I will be a customer for life!

It turned out well. There were additional charges beyond the big deal price because I had them do the repairs that they ran the diagnostic for. It was $359 in addition to $19.90. It was incredibly difficult for them to get to the A/C. This was the first time I used them. Pretty much any other air conditioning company probably would have refused to work on that because it was such a pain.

Our Tech was awesome! He was so prompt, respectful, and knowledgeable. Oh and not to mention he was FAST! We mentioned to us the problems we may face in the future with the unit, which we appreciated, so we can prepare for the costs ahead of time. We all know how crazy expensive AC units can be to repair or replace!

Technician found Carrier has a Puron leak somewhere but could not locate the leak. Charged $129 dollars to put dye in along with Puron. Charged $59 dollars per pound for 9 pounds of Puron. I had already paid $29 dollars for the Angie's list diagnostic all coupon and I was not charged again for the call. My only real complaint is the need to wait for the Puron to leak out again so the the dye will show where the leak is happening. At $500 dollars per Puron recharge plus $129 for the dye this seems like an expensive way to find the leak. Update: The Puron has completely leaked out again. I will be contacting someone else to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

He was able to come out right away. They have the best rates on Freon, lower than everyone else in town. He also gave us a quote on replacing the unit down the line. We may use them to install the new unit. He showed up on time and was courteous.

Once again 1st Class gave me 1st-class service. After getting an electrical issue fixed, which was determined on an earlier visit, Jeff came out to check my old system, clean it, and tune it up. I now have a nice cool house in the TX heat, despite having a very old HVAC system. They called to let me know they were on the way and were prompt and professional. Thanks, 1st Class!

Great! Jeff was very honest and knowledgeable. He didn't try to sell me a whole unit because of a faulty breaker. He called when on the way to shorten the window, and was very professional. I will have them back as soon as I get the electrical issue fixed to tune up the AC.

I had them come out to perform the spring inspection on my Rheem HVAC system. The provider discovered that the freon was low and determined the root cause. This was the 1st time that I had used this contractor. I had been using the company that installed the system to perform the checks, but after they checked the system and gave it a good bill of health, my AC would either stop cooling or couldn't keep the house cool enough. I had the HVAC system replaced in 2012 and since that time, the company that installed the system had to come out about 24 times. Most of that was due to the freon leaking. After Ben from 1st class discovered that the freon was low, I told him all of the service calls that I had to make to the company that installed the system and the work that they did. After getting the make, model and year of the unit in the garage, he then called his company and they confirmed his suspicion. Ben informed me that his company has replaced hundreds of the coils for these units and they are known for their corrosion. Since I still had a labor and parts warranty with the company that installed the system, I had to go back to them for the labor part of the warranty, but going forward, I'll be using this provider for my HVAC needs.

The tech was very professional and informative. In addition to the checkup, I had him install a thermostat I had purchased. In speaking with him during his analysis of the system he mentioned the outdoor unit was drawing a lot of power during startup and these surges would eventually take their toll on the system. He had a device (forget the name) that he could install and it would aid in reducing the surge of power during startup and help lengthen the lifespan of the unit. He showed the meter readings before and after installation and there was a dramatic decrease in max. current draw.

We had to replace the unit and furnace which is a bIg job. Although it was after 10 pm, Chip made a few calls and got the equipment and sent an incredibly top notch installation team the following morning to get started. Rocky and his crew did a fantastic job installing the new furnace and unit. They cleaned up nicely after the job was finished. Chip got us a wireless thermostat that we love and can control with an app on our phone. If you need a good honest and knowledgeable technician be sure to ask for Chip. He is up to date on all the best equipment and features and will take the time to recommend the best option.

Upon arrival for the repairs he fixed the unit as he felt necessary. I was not home at the time. He called after completing the work and advised me he added another $175.00. In addition to adding another fee above and beyond his quote, he completed the work without my consent and told me on the previous day the service was all included. He later told me the work was already done and he could go and undo the work if I refused to pay the additional fee. Initially I was angered but after rebuttalling he told me to pay half of the additonal $175.00. Ultimately, I refused and called the owner Randy. Per Randy, I would not have to pay the additional cost. Later the same day, Art returned to pick up payment and the Unit was no longer working after he fixed it the same day. He went and fixed it again and collected payment. I advised him he was only putting a bandaid on something that needed more work. He began to over talk me and I called my husband to speak to him. He was so unprofessional. While my husband was expressing his concerns Art put the phone down and refused to listen. Inevitably the unit failed again. I ended up calling Randy the owner again and requesting a different tech. He sent another tech that could not fix it and completely diagnosed it different than Art. I ended up getting a full refund. Randy was very professional unlike Art. Unfortunately I will not use them again because I would not take a chance of getting Art as a tech.
