I love working with First Coass Heating and Air. They are professional and courteous every time. I so appreciate that they do not try to oversell services or parts for my A/C units. I also appreciate the reminder cards they send to remind me of when service is due for my units.

Jeff was the tech that came out. Was very professional, answered all my questions/concerns. On time.... Diagnosed the problem, recommended a fix, provided the cost and explained everything he was doing and why. They are already in my phone and I have no problem recommending to friends/family etc. Great experience!!!

Proposal was made to fix air flow problem. Management refused request to do a test before and after installation to verify job worked. When I asked him to do it he left. I called a second AC person, Trey Stout, and he fixed my problems. He told me my dampers were causing the poor air flow and I did not need a new AC line installed. He also informed me I had two air filters that caused additional air flow problems. I did not know i had one inside the actual unit plus the one i was changing in my hall. With a couple of tweeks the extra tubing work was cancelled, my AC stopped freezing and my house is much more comfortable. 1st Class AC wI'll never be called by me again.

Scheduling went very smoothly and the Technician showed up on time. Very corteous and knowledgeable. At that point one is in a vulnerable position having lost some systems to the electrical discharge (i.e. alarm system, sprinkler system), but 1st Class Heat and Air was very honest telling us we only needed to replace the thermostat panel. Honesty is the first pillar of any business and they passed out this one with flying colors!!

It was good. It was probably a week after purchasing the deal. It was $99 and then once he checked everything then after 2 or 3 days, one of the AC motors or the fan went off so I had to call them back again within a day and they came back and put in a new fan but I had to pay for the whole thing.

I arrived home at 1 am to find I had no AC in my house. Dan called me back not long after they opened and managed to fit me in to the morning schedule. Both AC units were out and their tech arrived and did the repairs within 3 hrs. I can't say if the price was appropriate as I didn't get a 2nd inspection. What I do know is they were responsive, professional, and courteous; and helped me in a very tight time window.

The technician said our "defrost board' was no longer working. He explained the fan was not turning. I asked why the defrost board would cause the fan to not spin. He was not able to explain it. I called into the corporate office. Spoke with 3 people. None of them could explain it. The manager told me to just pay them to replace the defrost board.

Response from 1st Class Heat & Air
It appeared to the technician that we came behind another company as the air conditioner looked to have a new capacitor and the pressure switch had been wired past. The technician attempted to explain why the fan was not working due to a bad defrost board multiple times. When the customer called in to the office we recommended that he contact Carrier, the manufacturer, and let them explain it to him. We also recommended that he seek a second opinion, to see if our diagnosis was correct. Thirdly we recommended that he replace the circuit board to see if that fixes the problem. After talking to the technician, he said the fan motor was not working when he arrived. To troubleshoot this problem he bypassed the defrost board bringing power directly to the fan motor. If the motor does not work after doing this, the motor is bad. If the motor works, then the defrost board is bad, as power is not getting to the motor through the defrost board. When the technician brought power directly to the motor, it worked. Upon seeing that his air conditioner was cooling, the customer believed that the technician was trying to sell him something that he did not need. The customer’s air conditioner is a heat pump. A heat pumps operates in the cooling mode just like any air conditioner. It moves heat out of the house and puts it outside. In the heating mode, a heat pump has a reversing valve that allows it to operate in reverse. The air conditioner essentially runs backwards. It takes heat from outside and puts it in the house. Even when it is cold outside a heat pump can extract heat from the air. The condenser coils will freeze up when a heat pump is heating the house. The defrost board will turn off the outside unit and melt the ice by turning on some heating elements. Then the fan will turn back on and the unit will continue to heat the home. This customer has a bad defrost circuit board. The only reason he has air is because we bypassed the board when we troubleshot the system. The board controls both the air and the heat. He will find that we were being truthful this winter when he has to call another company to determine why the heat is not working. We stand behind the technician and the diagnosis.

Hi Mr. [Removed Member Name], Our company name is 1st Class Heat and Air. As I was reading your review your wife called in to thank us. It was a pleasure talking to her. When she originally scheduled service she said a couple of other companies had come out and said that you needed a new air conditioner. From the symptoms she described it sounded like there was a good chance you might not need new equipment. Glad it worked out for you and good to hear that Wes is doing a good job. Thank you for your business.

Service was excellent! We were not in a position to do all the recommended fixes in 2015 (my husband was unemployed at the time), so we decided to pay for the diagnostic services and leave A/C system as is. 1st Class Heat & Air was indeed a class act and volunteered to make a repair that kept us from melting. I was very grateful and was looking forward to giving them my business this year. Our situation has changed and we are considering replacing our entire A/C system this year. I was shocked to learn 1st Class Heat & Air is not interested in our business because of the fee they did not charge us last year, even after I volunteered to pay cash for any new services. Bizarre. But again, I am grateful and, other than the odd decision they communicated this year, I was pleased with all other interactions with 1st Class Heat & Air. I wish them the very best!

One of the best experiences I've had with any type of contractor.? They were not the cheapest bid, but were within 10% of the lowest bid. The most unbelievable part was that I first called them Thursday morning, and they had someone out there within the hour to provide a bid.? They uninstalled the old unit and installed the new one that same afternoon. The job was finished by about 8:00pm, and I actually believe they left the place cleaner than when they arrived.? Everyone I dealt with from the technician that did the bid (John Dutil) to the installation crew, to the office staff that set up the inspection with the city were absolutely top rate professionals! I highly recommend 1st Class Heat & Air, and I would not hesitate to advise my friends and family to use them.? They did everything they said they would do and then some, and all in the same day! ?
Description of Work: Replaced a complete 5 ton unit that covers the upstairs portion of my house.? Included the outside unit as well as the attic coils.? The only thing that was not replaced was the duct-work.

I?ll first start by mentioning I purchased a service, that I thought was going to be something else. I bought a Diagnostic Check, and I thought I was getting a semi-annual check (checking evaporator coils, cleaning them, checking for any clogs in the drainage path, etc.) for overall wellbeing of the system. The service technician arrived on time. He checked the inside unit, by seeing that there was an air filter in it. He then set the thermostat so that it would stay in cooling mode and checked the temperature at the return grate (72 degrees), then checked the out flow temperature at the ceiling vents (varied from 57 to 61 degrees). He then went to the outside unit, and started testing some wires (I guess voltage or amperage). This was happening while the unit was running. At one point he tried to test some wires, and got some sparks and it caused the unit to make some noises and run quite a bit louder than it was before he made the sparks fly. He then disconnected the power to the outside unit, for it to reset itself. After connecting the power, it seems as though the unit is running as it was prior to the sparking incident. He tested the pressure on the coolant and temperature leaving the outside unit. Both appeared to be right where they needed to be. The unit is a two stage variable speed system that is only 1.5 years old. I saw the deal on Angies List and thought it was a good idea to have it checked for any basic preventative maintenance, to possibly catch anything that may have come loose over the first year and a half. He didn't look at the evaporator coil or check any of the drain pipes on the inside unit, which surprised me, but then again, the special deal didn't specify what services would be performed. Every time, in the past, when I've had my AC checked, the Coil and drain pipes where always looked at. Next time, I'll get a deal where they specify the services that they will do, and make sure that the technician is fully trained to work on a variable speed two stage heat pump system. I didn't get the impression that he was fully comfortable with all the wires and circuitry on my unit. He definitely has no clue as to why he made the sparks fly, that caused the exterior unit to perform the way it did. The technician left a piece of diagnostic equipment at my house. I called to let them know he forgot it. During that call, I expressed my concern with the sparks, and not checking some things I thought should be checked. The manager advised me that a diagnostic call, wouldn?t check the coils and drainage. What made me decide to post this review, was that he offered to refund the cost of my service, provided I didn?t leave a review on Angie?s List. I received the check, but after thinking about it, I decided I wasn?t going to be bought out of an honest review. I never cashed the check, because I knew I purchased the wrong service, and I wasn?t going to have them pay for the removal of a bad review. The more I thought about it, the more it became clear that this review needed to be written and posted. It concerns me that this A Rated company would do this. I still don?t know why the technician was prodding around the wires on the outside unit, when there was clearly no issues with the system. He asked me if I was having problems, I said no, and he continued to check stuff, which eventually led to the sparks and temporary malfunction on the outside unit. I'll definitely be keeping an eye and ear on my external unit, as whatever her did had some impact on it, and hopefully he didn't accidentally shorten the life of my unit. My recommendation is that if you use this company, make sure the technician knows how your system is supposed to work.

I called them from Memphis, Tn. My mother is a senior and lives in Anna, TX. She had a serviceman (from another company) come out to her house for a routine maintenance check. She was not experiencing any problems. However, that technician told her she needed $500 in repairs. I called this company to provide an honest second opinion. I didn't tell them what the other company said was wrong. I just asked them to go have a look and let us know IF there was a problem. The guy that answered the phone was very kind and said that he would not take advantage of a senior and that he would send someone out to look and let us know if there was an issue. The 39.99 charge was fair for the service call. After speaking with my mother, she informed me that the serviceman was on-time, very professional, investigated everything, and discussed everything with her. He found no problems and no need for repairs. After my mom showed him the slip from the other company, he reviewed and told her he did not have the same findings. I really appreciate this company's honesty. My mother has already recommended them to someone else.

The communication was excellent with 1st Class Heat & Air. I received an email within 1 day of my purchase on Angie's list. My appointment was scheduled for 9:30am this morning. John called prior to arriving and he arrived on time. He went straight to work to diagnose my A/C problem. Quickly, he was able to determine that the root cause for my A/C not functioning was due to a faulty furnace control board. As luck would have it, I had purchased a new control board for $500 from a different HVAC company in 2011 prior to the installation of my new A/C system. It was never installed because the new A/C system fixed my cooling issues. Under advisement from the HVAC company, I kept it as a backup. Although the control board was new and in its original box and packaging, due to liability concerns 1st Class Heat & Air would not install it. The estimate John provided was $600 to fix my system with a new board and labor. I didn't want to pay for yet another board so I informed John that I would contact the company I purchased it from so it could be installed. I have contacted another HVAC company and they will be installing my board for approximately $160 in labor only.
