Description of Work: I called this company (Polar Air) in June to repair an ice maker. It was working, but sluggish. They sent a technician out who spent the entire afternoon teaching an apprentice about refrigeration and ice makers, working slowly on my appliance. At the end, the ice maker worked, but he said the machine would likely still have problems and would need a compressor replaced. It was only about 1 year old. In any event, they charged me $382 for that visit to repair a $1,000 machine. Sure enough, 4 weeks later, the machine did not work AT ALL. I called them again and they sent the same technician who cleaned the machine and fiddled around with it for a while and then told me again that it would likely stop working again soon. In his report to his company, he said the machine would need a compressor to be considered "fixed". I was charged another $332 and the machine still didn't work. They charged me over $700 to "fix" a $1,000 machine, knowing full well that a compressor was needed.. Why not fix it right the first time, especially if you know what's wrong? To con me (hopefully not you) into calling them several times and charging you several times (and costing you three times as much), rather than fixing it ONE time for ONE amount. They are con artists (they don't have an office, just a P.O. Box) and should not be hired for any repair job.
