Description of Work: I was concerned that the ac unit was running too much. The tech arrived the day I called and checked the wiring, thermostat, a part that had been previously installed at the wrong level which he corrected, also washed the outside equipment. He determined all was functioning properly. He also had some preventative things I could be doing as well.

Description of Work: Tune up of AC. The tech that came out was very rude and dismissive of my older unit. Did not want to work on it and stated I was "lucky" the unit was even running and I should just purchase a new unit from their company. I told him I was not in the market for a new unit and that the deal I'd bought on Angie's list was for a tune up; and not to upsell me. He was obviously not interested in hearing this, and worte me a recommendation to "replace unit" and left. I feel like I paid for nothing.

Description of Work: Purchased the Angie's List deal of AC/Heater check including freon with Christian Brothers. The company I'd used for 20 years split up and I needed to find someone else for yearly maintenance. Christian Brothers arrived when promised, performed the work, and said I didn't need additional freon, my systems were fine, and provided a written report. The gentleman took much more time and put in much more effort looking over my systems than the company I had for 20 years prior. I'm glad to have found Christian Brothers for my yearly maintenance needs and highly recommend them. A helpful tip, he said that being told you need freon is a bad thing indicating your system is not working properly.

Description of Work: No need to look for another, their customer service alone is worth every dime, called them at 8pm on a week night and they were out in 30 minutes!

Description of Work: Performed a spring maintainance check up. Service person was late because of 'traffic'. I also wanted a furnace filter replaced and service person gave me the filter size and told me to get one at Home depot and that it was easy to do myself. I inquired about Christian Brothers blown in attic insulation. Service person said he could do it himself not associated with the company for a better price. I called him to test the service offer but he did not return my call. His offer to perform the job outside of Christian Brothers put me off. However, it is not unusual in this economy for service people (in Austin) to offer to do the job themselves not associated with their service company. I used another company to do the work and have their warranty and energy credit.

Description of Work: Ordered this service call for $29.00 on Angie's list (regular price $79.00).The person was prompt and I told him I had a slow drain on my kitchen sink, and would also like a price to replace the P trap underneath the sink.He proceeded to pull out his price book and quoted me a price for running a snake down the drain of ( $200.) and quoted me a price for replaceing the P trap, ( a normally 5 min operation ) , if I remember right that was another $175.00, on top of the already $29.00, regularly $79.00, service call price. I proceeded to tell him what he could do with his prices for such a simple task, and told himI would have to decline his offer, due to his high prices! He promptly wrote up a ticket that said I declined service and took his clipboard and left. I would NEVER pay that kind of money for that simple a fix, so I guess I am out My $29.00, and will chuck it up to experience of using a plumber that quotes everything from a service book. Needless to say I would never use them again, and would never recommend them to a friend, because of their prices and bait and switch tactics. Buyer BEWARE ! I ended up fixing the problem myself, for fear of getting another plumber that would charge me a another $500 for a fifteen minute fix.

Description of Work: We had a very complicated problem with a valve that had a very unusual set point. Virgile spent 5 days throughly investigating and evaluating our upstairs air conditioner output and utilization of freon. He stayed with it and got the system working correctly. For the first time I trust an air conditioning company. Christian brothers! Vergile saved us thousands of dollars. He is our hero. Ann McCormick

Description of Work: I purchased a Angie's List Coupon for a $29 service call to use for them as I knew that I was going to have some plumbing work done. When I called to make the appointment, the woman told me that the normal call fee would be waived if I decided to have the work done. That in and of itself, made my coupon seem a little silly. When I told her that I had purchased the coupon for a call and asked if it could be applied to service, it was met with a aggravated sigh, and a "yesss". Okay, advance forward to the date of service. I let the company know in advance that I was having them come out to install new hose bibs. Guess what they showed up without on their truck? Faucets to do the work. I hear that he will have to go to the plumbing store to buy some. That wasn't the most aggravating thing. The plumber then quotes me almost $300 (Three Hundred Dollars!) for changing out TWO faucets. Having had plenty of work done on the home lately, I knew this was far off from market. I said, no way. I'm then asked, what do you think the work is worth and what will you pay. I said $200, and even that seemed excessive. He said he couldn't do less than $250. I said adios, Christian Bros. I called another company who did the same work for a little over $100. This company has big trucks and also operate under the name of Southwest Plumbing, but their tactics and prices are also big and very unappealing. Will never use again and am happy to spread the word to warn others.

Description of Work: Replaced AC blower moter and board. Part was under warranty with manufacturere and they were able to verify that. They made a sunday service call within an hour and charged less than my friend would have charged who also owns an AC business.

Description of Work: I used an Angie's List deal to hire this company for what I thought was a service call. turned out, the coupon only covered their charge for a site visit. The plumber offer to replace my toilet flapper for more than $100. That's a 2 minute job, and I had already replaced the flapper myself! Even now, I don't know what is causing the minor leak from tank to bowl. A waste of money and time.

Description of Work: A/C would not function. The tech turned out to be the original installer of the A/C unit when the house was built, so he was very familiar with it. As it turned out, the wire to the tray overflow switch was loose. It was a simple fix. However, since he was already there and fixed it so quickly, he did a full inspection and service to the unit to make sure everything was working correctly. He then told me that it would only cost about $120/year to keep the system running perfectly since they can schedule a twice per year service to get ready for hot, then cold weather. Have you priced a new A/C recently? This maintenance seems like a bargain to avoid the super costly replacement if I just run it until it fails. I was very impressed with their professionalism, too.

Description of Work: I am in Real Estate and same day service is superb! One week ago one of my vacant listings had condensation coming from an overflow line. Needed someone fast so the possibility of a leak inside the home did not happen. Called them in the late morning and they showed up early afternoon and serviced the A/C and cleaned the drain lines. Then a week later my personal home upstairs A/C stopped cooling and I had guests. Called them at 1:00pm and they showed at 3:00pm and fixed it.

Description of Work: Replaced an old 3 ton heat pump with a new 15 SEER system. Work was performed in about 3 hours in a very efficient manner. Totally satisfied with all aspects of the work. Great system for the money.

Description of Work: They came out for a diagnostic, and the first guy couldn't figure out what to do, so he sent a second guy on another day. That guy was also baffled and had to talk to his supervisor and get back with us. They never got back with us. I called twice and never received any call back. If they could not figure out what to do, they could have at least called and told us that. I went with another company that did not have a problem figuring out what to do.
