Description of Work: Highly recommend Morgan Air. Had a couple other companies out previously and was told the refrigerant either had to much or too little but the problem never seemed to get any better. Called them out and they quickly explained the real issue was the compressor and showed me why. Not what I wanted to hear but I did want my AC to work and was tired of other companies just guessing. They recommended several different options for repair and got it fixed the next day. Works great and couldn't be happier.

+ -1 moreMy tenant complained the AC unit was making an awful racket each time it came on, and she thought the freon was low. Not wanting to overlook something that could turn into a costly repair, I gave Charles a call. Being the temperatures have been over 110 degrees lately, I didn't expect he would even have an opening for a non-emergency call. But by noon, David was able to stop by the house. He took the unit apart and found the bolts that tie the unit down to the concrete pad were loose. So the entire unit was rocking slightly when it turned on, causing the noise until it got balanced. He tightened them down, cleaned out the entire unit, checked everything and put it all back together. Next he checked the cooling levels. They were fine. He confirmed what I suspected, the unit was cooling properly but it is simply so hot outside, it just feels hot period! My tenant is trying to keep the house at 74 degrees. David explained that most units are designed to cool 25 degrees below the outside temperature. So when we are above 100, she might be straining the system. I was glad to learn this. David was informative and professional. He provided the high level of service I have always experienced from Morgan Air.
Description of Work: Tightened compressor mounting bolts. Tightened all condenser housing screws. Checked system capacitors. Checked system temperatures.

+ -1 moreI called at 8 AM on Saturday morning. It's now 11:30 AM and My home is cool. Charles responded to my call and dispatched Brian. I received a second call from Charles asking if Brian had called me and before I could complete the sentence, I had a call from Brian on the other line. Brian got right to work testing and found the issue quickly and resolved it quickly. I feel their weekend rate is quite reasonable and the cost of materials as well. I think this went as good as having your AC go out on the first day of a three days weekend could go. The repairs are done by a professional at a reasonable cost and I've got even my Saturday still to enjoy this long weekend. Thanks Charles and Brian, you'll hear from me again!
Description of Work: The system was blowing air but not cooled air. Brian performed test outside and then asked to see the air filters as his test indicated there may be an issue with airflow. He was right in that I had changed from electro static to high end HEPA paper filters. Those filters worked much better than I had expected in that they were only installed for 90 days but were full of dirt and in need of replacing. Brian said the filters were important and enquired if I would be able to replace them yet today. As I indicated that I would, he left them out to complete his work. About 20 minutes later Brian asked if he could enter the house to read the air temperature coming out of the vents. We could both tell the air was now cool coming out of the vents. He finished up a few details and then spoke to me about the event, cause and possible future issues.

+ -1 moreThey moved both my air conditioners off the roof and brought them down to the ground. They re-set all the electrical lines and covered them up for protection. They came back to check on the installation two weeks later. They then noticed the coolant was low and filled it up to the correct level line. They are a little bit more expensive than other companies but they really cared about their service.
Description of Work: I have two air conditioners on my roof which started to cause some leaking into my bathroom.

Charles also repaired the gable end screening while he was in the attic so that the red wasps could find a "new home"! We are so thankful that we found Morgan Air and the other service providers we have used through Angies List.

+ -1 moregreat...highly professional..Charels had to make several visits to get down to the exact problem of my heating unit..he cleaned coils.replaced sensors and even the thermostat ....i truly know that this unit was out of the ordinary( a lovely piece of crap with too many sensors?) and visa/verse i would have taken a base ball bat to the darn thing if i was him!!!!...in all honesty... i should have, so he would actually charge me to replace it....but i have got to give charles credit where credit is do...he stuck with it...fixed the problem and when he told me that i dint owe him any thing....well ...ok.....but ??? that's just not fair!....I know he spent at least 80.00 bucks in gas,probable 40.00 in parts and still maintaned his integraty and professionalism knowing this was a pain in the a**...and only charging the initial 80-90.00 dollar service fee. If i had to complain about anything ,it would be that charles loves what he does, he cares alot about his customers and fixing their problems and would not let me pay him over the amount of his orig anal estimate. When it all is said and done ..this was a $400.00 repair....and i can understand it should have been 80-90-dollars..simple fix....but it wasnt!!...the heater had other sensors that a scientist, would have scratched his head at to fix....charles scratched his head and figure it out ,without charging me any more than his original quote. I m sending a( bonus ) check to his company whether he likes it or not...because i feel he deserves it! and for whatever its worth i can tell ya ..charles is honest and a great man to help anyone with the cooling/heating problems! + -1 moreCharles Morgan is very prompt and his work is comprehensive. He can analyze, diagnose and solve problems real quickly. After he replaced the motor in my air conditioning compressor, the motor failed in about a week. He was right back within 15 minutes and replaced that motor. Of course, he picked the motor up from a supplier. He is very professional and his prices are very reasonable. I would rate him highly and would use him in the future.
Description of Work: I used Morgan Air to replace the motor in my air conditioning compressor, put in 2 thermostats and check our entire air conditioning system.

+ -1 moreFantastic! This could not have been done any better. The weather had cooled down. The guys always showed up on time and worked together like a well oiled machine. Trash and debris was always picked up before they left. Impeccable neatness and craftsmanship.
Description of Work: Originally contacted Morgan Air to have the outside unit starting capacitor replaced. Charles showed up on a Sunday and fixed the problem. While he was there, I asked him to take a look at our builder installed duct work due to extreme temps. from one room to the next (variations as great as 10 degrees). A couple of days later we noticed that the compressor outside was making a lot of racket and called Charles back and he determined that the unit had been overcharged and along with the patched up duct work it was having to work harder. Another reason that the unit was performing poorly was due to the fact that someone previously rerouted the "bulb' that was tie-wrapped to a line and moved it to where it was located directly in front of the coil! This caused the compressor to run "wide-open" every time it started up. He also noticed that the amp draw of the compressor was up to 28 amps (the maximum amps for the motor was 28.8 amps) when I had seen it only draw 15 amps on the Sunday he came out. Bottom line - the compressor was going out and our electricity bill was increasing every time it came on. At my request, Charles submitted a couple of plans to fix the duct work and change out the unit. These varied in price from a few hundred dollars to what we ultimately selected. He also encouraged us that we get other bids for comparison and still would not take payment for the work he had already done. We did get a comparison bid (same type of unit and modifications to the duct work). Charles was not the cheapest but we felt that he was really interested and committed to resolve our A/C problems once and for all. The following is what we chose to do based on the several plans he had submitted: 1) Replace the complete system with a Trane Duel Fuel system (qualifies for a $1000.00 rebate) 2) Replace the inside unit with a matching coil and variable speed blower motor 3) Remove and replace existing duct work as necessary and install dampers. This also involved replacing fiberboard junction boxes with metal "Y's" and building a completely new "trunk" system for correct air flow into the rooms. Additional supports had to be installed as well along with re-routing of cables. 4) Changed the configuration from horizontal to vertical (this made the noise level in our bedroom go completely away!!!). 5) Replaced the filter system with a more efficient type that is much easier to change filters. Removed the added filter installed by a licensed contractor 5) Changed out some air registers to the correct type 6) Blocked and sealed off additional vents that were previously installed by a licensed contractor. 7) Replaced the thermostat with a touchscreen type that is VERY simple to program 8) Offered to either leave or take away old unit and duct work 9) Provided detailed instructions on the system and thermostat. Had both ma and my wife program the settings. 10) Completed all paper work and provided the necessary paperwork for the rebate

He made it very understandable to me, explaining in laymen's terms what he was doing. He was very professional and did just the right amount of talking (I've experienced a few workers over the years who talked waaaay longer than I would have liked).
Description of Work: Charles Morgan fixed a compressor and spent several hours thoroghly cleaning two air conditioning units that had not been cleaned in nine years. He also had two assistants come back another day to re-direct the exhaust from the clothes drier, which had been blowing dust right on to the two air conditioners.

+ 0 moreCharles Morgan came to our home on a very hot night, went into the attic to see what we had, then went over his suggestions to improve our system and make it more efficient. A few days later, he came by with a written bid and a worst-case cost estimate. Once we gave him the go-ahead, he put us on his calendar to start our work in a couple of weeks. It wound up being three weeks due to illness, but once he started, we were without air conditioning only one night (and he'd already warned us about that). About a week later, he finished installing the zone control system and showed us how to use the programmable thermostats. He has followed up with us a couple of times to make sure we didn't have hot or cold spots in the house and offered to come by at any time to tweak the system if needed. When we got the bill in the mail, it was a little more than $300 UNDER the worst-case estimate. We're very pleased with his work and anticipate lower AC bills next summer.
Description of Work: They removed existing ductwork, supply and return plenums, reconfigured and installed new ductwork, supply and return plenums, re-piped the drain line, installed float switches, installed filter bases at the furnace, removed refrigerant and recharged, installed touchscreen programmable thermostats, and installed a zone control system.
