Handyman Connection of Pearland

I would like to express my concerns regarding a recent experience with HANDYMAN CONNECTION sDuring the initial visit with Derrick, we thoroughly discussed the scope of work I wanted completed. Following this meeting, I was under the impression that Derrick would be performing the project. However, shortly before the scheduled appointment, I received a message indicating that a different technician would be assigned to my service. I reached out to Derrick to address this lack of communication and to convey my disappointment with this change. On the day of the appointment, the first technician did not arrive and did not communicate with me, which left me without clarity regarding the status of the service. Ultimately, Derrick reassigned the job to another technician. When this second technician arrived, he brought materials that did not meet the quality I expected and subsequently left to procure higher-quality weatherstripping. Unfortunately, what was initially presented as a two-hour task extended to a frustrating five-hour ordeal. Additionally, the craftsmanship displayed did not align with my standards. Overall, I am quite dissatisfied with the service experience and would appreciate your attention to this matter. Thank you for considering my feedback.

I have been dealing with the Pearland office, Mia Aleman, since February 13th, 2019, when I called to find help fixing my fence/gate. A fellow named Darrell was sent to my home to assess the job and write a contract, which he did. The contract was to fix the problem, (a dead tree had fallen on the fence and gate), and clean the gutters, $500.00. I was to pay for the new posts, concrete 2X4s and pickets. Unfortunately, the work was not started immediately, due to the poor health of Darrell as well as inclement weather. On 3/1/2019 Darrell showed up with an unknown worker he had picked up somewhere to dig out the posts, as he was not capable due to his bad back. I was not happy with this, since that person had not been vetted by Handyman Connection, but I accepted this situation since I wanted my repairs done and gutters cleaned! After this day of work, I was left with such a miserable and untenable level of “craftsmanship”, I complained not only to Darrel but to Mia in the Pearland office. Darrell promised to fix all the problems HE had created, and I took pictures and sent those to Mia. I made a list and presented it to Darrell, who, on his return to my home, promised to fix his dreadful work. However, when I insisted on the fixes I had iterated on my list, he quit the job and left! Mia eventually sent Robert Cherry to look at and fix the horrid mess that Darrel had created, and he did a very good job. The only thing that was not fixed was the post set in concrete that would have entailed digging it out and resetting it to make it vertical. I accepted the post as it was, or is. Today is April the 11th and my gutters still have not been cleaned! I have not heard from Mia Aleman, nor have the new pickets on my gate been painted.. While it is true the painting of the new pickets is not specifically mentioned in my original contract, I certainly look at it as part of the fence/gate job, and the original employee Darrel promised to do it on his return visit. Even if it were not, why, when this job has been such a complete fiasco, until Robert was assigned to it, would Handyman Connection not try to mitigate its’ mistakes by painting three pickets as well as fulfilling the contract, i.e., clean the gutters, in a timely manner? By the way, Robert did move the fence to meet the newly installed, albeit crooked post and replaced the lock and hasp on the gate, neither of which was specifically mentioned in the original contract. I intend to send a copy of this letter to Handyman Connection Corporate, (if I can find it,) and do a review of this company on Angie's list. Sincerely, Pat Covington 713.868.4945 Here is the list I made for repairs after the first workman quit: MOVE GATE BACK TO ORIGINAL POSITION STRAIGHTEN HINGES, POST APPLY PICKETS WITH NO GAPS REMOVE "SPACERS" BETWEEN POST AND FENCE AS WELL AS NAIL "CLUSTERS" RE-ATTACH LATCH AS WAS ORIGINALLY APPLIED LINE UP 2X4s TO ACCOMMODATE ADDITIONAL PICKETS (INSIDE FENCE) REPLACE BROKEN PICKETS PAINT PICKETS CLEAN GUTTERS Think long and hard before using this company, because there seems to be no recourse after they are paid .I want to say, Robert Cherry did a great job fixing the majority of problems created by the first workman.
