S-N-S Remodeling

I am still waiting for a response to my request for the free estimate promised. Not one person from S-N-S has contacted me but I was so hopeful. I would still like a response so that I may offer a better review for a working man.

Overall, they did an excellent job and we were very pleased with the quality and the timing of their work. The kitchen is beautiful and the new room is great. The bookcases are very impressive and the excellent craftsmanship is evident. We did not include the interior painting of the rest of the house in the original request. We added that after they completed the kitchen and room addition because we were so pleased with their work.

Went quickly and as expected. I am very pleased with the result.

I never received any contact from SNS.

We hired S-N-S Remodeling to completely remodel two bathrooms in a housethat was built in 1954. Both bathrooms had never been redone (pink andblue tile in one bathroom, pink and green in the other, no insulation in the walls.) since the house was built, so there was a lot of work to be done. Dan and his crew guided us every step of the way. They were great at letting us know which of our ideas would work and which wouldn't, and since this was the first time we had remodeled the house, we appreciated their experience and know-how. The tile expert (Manuel) is a gem...he does great work and has wonderful creative ideas on tile patterns. His team is very good about laying down brown paper and cleaning up after themselves. Our two new bathrooms are spa-quality. We couldn't be happier with our experience with S-N-S Remodeling. We've already recommended them to two friends, and we will definitely be giving Dan a call when it is time to do the kitchen!

It went very well, We are very happy and pleased with the way our bathroom turned out . Dan said two weeks, and it was two weeks.Every day ( except Sundays) they worked, either the painter or tile man or plumber or electrician were here & sometimes all of them !!!! Everything fell into place . Dan is very knowledgeable and he gave me a lot of suggestions of dos and don'ts and now we have the most beautiful bathroom in Laporte and yes, I would call them again if we should need any other work done.

I appreciate an itemized list so if I run out of money I know where I can cut back.

SNS completed the entire job in just 2 and a half days. We are very satisfied with the quality of the work - they even added a cut out and tiled section in the shower (into the wall) for soap and shampoo bottles, etc... Which we had not asked for but was a very nice touch. They also specially cut some of the tiles, to make a diamond pattern around the tub/shower area. They did ask us to pick up some of the material (faucets, etc...) because we needed to pick them out ourselves anyway. Other than that, we simply made a trip to Home Depot and Lowe's ahead of time - Mom picked out the tile, carpet and toilet that she wanted - we told SNS what she had picked and they did the rest. It was a very easy and painless experience for such a big job. I had done a lot of the tear out and painting myself, but I didn't want to tackle the more involved work - SNS handled it with ease and professionalism (paper down on the stairs and floors to protect them). We have asked SNS to come back and do the floor in the other bathroom upstairs. I would highly recommend SNS to anyone lookling to make some updates/changes in their home.

He spent a lot of time telling me how good he was and he was Angie's list number 1. Tried to sell himself too much.

He is like a good ole boy and he talks your head off. We felt like we could trust him. He did come back and do things on the punch list without complaining.

Dan was very punctual in keeping the appointment time for the first meeting to get me an estimate. I had his estimate in hand before he left. He followed up about two weeks later, and I confirmed that I wanted him to do the remodeling job for me. He made one more visit to confirm measurements for ordering materials. Then, the work started three days later. He made an EXACT match to the exterior house siding, which entailed him going to several different lumberyards to find the exact right wood (apparently rough cedar is no longer in any kind of demand for exterior house siding). The paint for the new exterior siding was an EXACT match to the rest of the house. The shower and bathtub look spectacular, and I've gotten lots of compliments. Dan's helpers were all very courteous and helpful, and did great work. They were even nice enough to install two new outdoor floodlights for me, and a new doorbell, and help me with a sliding glass door problem at no additional cost. Another thing that I really appreciated was that Dan only charged me his cost for the tile that was used in the shower and for the bathtub surround. This saved me probably about $200 - $300 compared to the retail cost of the tile. Dan stayed in close communication with me during the time the remodeling work was going on. If he had a trip to the hardware store to find the shower light trim before coming to my house to continue the job, he called to let me know he would be 30 minutes later that day. He is hands on, and an integral part of the remodeling crew -- not just a General Contractor using subs for everything. All of the work was completed in a very timely fashion, AND his crew cares enough to clean up any dust/debris that they created. When they left, I had a sparkling clean shower and bathtub! No mess for me to clean up!

Fabulous job! Dan gave us great advice and helped us pick out our tiles, etc. The team were all professionals and did great work. They were done in 3 days and the shower looks better than it did originally - besides us being confident that it won't leak. It was clear that everyone knew their areas of expertise well and were very skilled. The pricing was quite reasonable too.

I called S & S Remodeling and Dan came out the next day and gave me a bid. Dan was ready to work on the date we chose to start and finished a day earlier than planned. The shower turned out absolutely beautiful and the sheetrock was a great upgrade in our family room. Even though we made a couple of changes in the middle of our project, the final price was barely over the original bid. The hardest part about the whole project was finding the right person to do the job. Dan was great to work with and will definitely be the only person we work with in the future. Every worker Dan brought in to our home was very professional and knew what they were doing. We were amazed at how the work flowed and at how smoothly everything went together. Our home was left clean and free of debris and great measures were taken to keep it clean while the work was being done. If you want your remodel and repair work done right and done promptly, S & S Remodeling and Dan Shannon is the ticket. Thank you for the great work!

The tiles in my kids bathroom fell out, at the wrong time I needed someone the give me a quote before I left for a family trip. It was short notice and the owner personally came out the next to give me a quote. I was really impressed. So went I came back he returned, started and completed the job I one day.

I am so very satisfied with everything! Mr. Shannon and his crew came up with a beautiful design for my tub and were able to do the work in two days! They also put tile in my wash room outside. It looks great and my husband and I are very pleased! We will ask Mr. Shannon back in the summer to work his magic with our kitchen!

Not good - Never received a phone call to even get a quote.

From the first day I could tell Dan was getting down to business. All of the wall repairs were done in the first day and the bathrooms demoed. One bath was a partial tile removal and repair and the tile installed looks great-matches the 30 year old original tile perfectly. He actually finished the work a few days under his estimate. It looks great.

Their quote was around $18,000. They were responsive with the bid, but they didn't get the job done. It is a whole kitchen remodeling. It was a small kitchen. They did counter tops, sink, tiles on the floor, and family room. They responded and they did give me a bid.

We had trouble getting a time set up for an estimate with S-N-S Remodeling. It seemed as if they were very busy and we needed to get the work done very quickly. So, that is the only reason why we didn't use them. They had a backlog of work and it was going to take too long before they could get us in. But, the man was very punctual and I got a good overall impression.

He did all the work in 1 week. He hailed off all the debris. He has done work in all my bathrooms as well. I was very pleased the the quality as well as the time it took. He did what he said he would do in the time that he said it would take.

From start to finish there was a lot of communication and Dan was 95% on time :) the project was finished in the amount of time Dan said it would be. We love our house now!

We took several bids that involved different materials, and settled on a basic design that utilized 6" x 6" ceramic tile. Dan Shannon did a fine job and his crew was skilled at their trade. I would recommend S-N-S for bathroom remodeling based on what we experienced.

He called me in advance to re-schedule the job 2 days later which I appreciated. He started punctually and completed all work ahead of schedule in 2 days versus 3. He cleaned up after the work was completed. The lines of communication were open and clear. I have worked with a number of contractors and was very pleased with Dan's operation from start to finish, which is rare in the industry. I felt that the pricing was fair, as well.

I had to replace a sump pump back up battery because I had failed to put water in the cells of the battery. I have a second pump and back up battery. The plumber said he would check the second battery to ensure it would not suffer the same fate as the first. He said it was fine and wrote he had serviced the battery on my invoice/receipt. A short time later (I do not have my notes in front of me, but I think it was about six weeks), the second battery also died. When I checked the water lever in the cells, I found the cells completely dry. When I called, Isley denied responsibility. The poor girl on the phone said she talked with "Mrs Isley." Mrs Isley apparently talked with the plumber and stood behind his story that he had serviced the battery, including adding water to the cells. Incredibly, Isley claimed the water had completely evaporated in the short time since they had performed the service and that was not their fault. But, they said "since I was such a good customer" they would go back and give me my Angie's List discount on the call they made to replace my previous battery and a puny reduction it was. These batteries are very expensive. Clearly, contrary to his statements, the plumber did not check the water level in the second battery. The water simply could not have evaporated in all cells in the short amount of time between the Isley "service" and the death of the battery. Isley had to have known their defense was frivolous. I thought about filing a small claims lawsuit but decided the hassle factor and bad "vibes" were not worth it. I am saddened to make this report but think it important to keep the list informed. I will never use Isley again.

They did a very professional job and completed it on-time. The resulting kitchen looks great.
