The bid for the kitchen and bath remodel work was great and the contractor was willing to meet my time requirements however while the overall work performed was okay , the subcontractors were a huge problem. His cabinetmaker never showed up when scheduled, or showed up at inconvenient times and he was rude. The cabinets were beautiful but he did not measure the fridge cabinet properly and he would not accept responsibility that he measued incorrectly. He damaged the fridge cabinet trying to find an easy way out of his problem and his plan to repair the damage was going to look even worse. I fired him on the spot and called the contractor who assured me he would correct it. Almost a year later now and he still has not fixed it and he no longer accepts my calls or texts. I have lived with the hacked up cabinet and will have to hire a professional cabinetmaker to fix it at added costs to me. The subcontractors plumber made a mess of the kitchen sink plumbing and I later spent another $400 to correct it after my kitchen flooded. That plumber said the work done was absolutely not to code and he was amazed the jerryrigged plumbing lasted the 6 months that it did. I wonder at this point if the contractors plumber was licensed. Word to the wise, ASK for proof! The contractor did a great job in the master bath and did exactly what was wanted, no problems there. After saving for more than two years to have this work done it was hard not to have a perfect result. I considered filing suit but I simply want to forget the experience. This contractor failed to finish the job he was hired to do.

The bid was 3400.00 for labor only; I would buy all fixtures and flooring. THREE men came to my house to look at the potential projects and ASSURED me they could do all of them and there would be a separate line dug from the new bath to the septic. They would be able to re-brace both places in the floor so they would no longer give in when you step there. I showed them each place and they said they would probably need to brace from under the house. They weren't sure how many sheets of plywood would be needed until they got the old floor up, so they said to buy 5. When I had trouble finding a garden tub, we decided to just go with a standard tub again. I ended up finding a garden tub and was told it be 100.00 more, since they would need to move the drain line. I guess they didn't know the garden tub is a side drain. They put a hole in my wall getting the tub in, but didn't knock off the 100.00, which would've been kind of even. The wrong faucet was put on the main bath sink - my fault- and they did switch it for free. They did not re-brace the floor and only used one 1 &1/2 sheets of the plywood, so not as much labor as expected to be paying for there. They did NOT dig a new line to the septic, and tied into the existing line, so not only, not as much labor as expected there, but also did exactly what I told them I did NOT want! When I called to let them know the floors still gave in and there was no extra line to the septic, I was told Gerry would come back and fix both issues. I was told it would take a little time because Gerry came and looked and said he'll have to get under the house. HE KNEW THIS FROM THE BEGINNING.Also, he said there is no need for a separate line to the septic, because this bathroom will not interfere with the other one. So no labor for that line - still. When he finally came to fix the floors, 3 weeks after I let them know about it, he still did not fix them. They both still give in to this day.Not sure what all the money for labor was for, but the total hours spent on my projects was 16 hours x 2 people for part of that time.Any one considering them should get every detail in writing.
Description of Work: 1st Room - Replace a standard bathtub with a garden tub & new tub surround, Replace the faucet on the sink, Replace any bad plywood flooring and Re-brace floor joists beside the vent. 2nd Room - Replace carpet with vinyl tile on one side, Install a toilet & sink w/cabinet on that same side.Hall - Re-brace floor joists in the area where the linoleum meets the carpet, Replace linoleum with same vinyl tile as the bathroom.ONLY add the 1/2 bath if there can be a completely separate line from the new bath to the septic. DO NOT tie into the existing line.

KV Contractors! Woo Hoo they are the best in my books! Willie Davila and his guys came in after I had a BAD contractor start my kitchen. Much to my dismay 75% of the new granite installed by the Bad contractor had to be replaced due to cracks, and just general bad job. Willie replaced the granite, and installed the tile and did a WONDERFUL job! I would use them again with no hesitation. The only thing that could have made this job any better......... If I had used KV Contractors in the very beginning. Willie and his crew are nice, respectable, and have personalities that just make you feel at ease. Who could ask for more! Got a granite job, or tile job in Odessa, Tx. Call KV Contractors! Best group of guys I have worked with! Thanks guys!
Description of Work: Willie Davila and his guys, installed New Granite on my kitchen countertops, and tile on the walls from the cabinets to the counter.
