The crew from Texas Air Doctors was first rate. Extremely polite, very professional and knowledgeable. They were well organized, they walked me through everything that needed to be done and easily dealt with problems that arose. They completed the work on time, and cleaned up the area before they left. I cannot say enough about this company and its employees. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for a heating and air conditioning company.

Hired them to service the upstairs unit that had been previously replaced by a poor contractor. They did a great job fixing that unit. When it came time to replace the downstairs unit they were our fist call. Even though we got other estimates and some were cheaper, we decided to use Texas Air Doctors because they had earned our trust.

Thank you for being a client of Texas Air Doctors. I've always been influenced by the quote from Benjamin Franklin that, "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." We've all experienced that product or service that failed to do what we anticipated. Our objective is to always provide the best product and service, at a reasonable price.

Perfect. The install team arrived on time as did their supervisor. The team worked tirelessly throughout a long day to complete the task to completely remove the old A/C and furnace system and replace it with a code compliant new system. I strongly recommend this firm to everyone who needs A/C or furnace work.
Description of Work: An inspection by another company revealed some issues with the 10 year old A/C system. The company provided a quote. Desiring multiple quotes I placed inquiries with two other companies. One never responded even though their automated web site thanked me for my inquiry and promised someone would respond quickly. Texas Air Doctors responded quickly and we set up an appointment for an inspection. The inspector, Jeff, was personable, professional, and careful about wearing booties into the house. His inspection revealed two items that no longer complied with code. After inspection he provided his quote and commented that some services being pushed by company A were not considered effective. His quote was thousands less for higher standard equipment so the decision to proceed was easy.

Texas Air Doctors installed a brand new system in my house a few years ago. Last year, the drain pan broke and flooded part of the house. They quickly responded and fixed the problem. This spring, the same thing happened. After evaluating the design and possibilities of why this kept happening, they decided that the product was designed poorly. They decided to replace the whole air handler under their No-Lemon policy for a new and better designed model. They were responsive and very customer focused. Mike, the customer service manager, was great to work with and went above and beyond in order to fix the issue and satisfy the customer (me). I highly recommend this company.

During the last 17-Years, we've had three occasions that we used our "No Lemon" policy. It is our opinion that we should address a failure in the same fashion that we'd want if we we in the customers place. We call it the "Golden Rule" Clause on all installations and service procedures. We have been members of Texas Air Doctors Mustang Club for 8 years. Wonderful service and responsiveness while caring for our heating and cooling needs. In March, 2014, they replaced three heating and cooling units as well as three thermostats. The price for the installation and units was very reasonable. They have continued to perform routine maintenance on the units twice yearly. The service is impeccable.

After examining all three units the technician tried to sell me on the maintenance club. Then he said my drip pan for one of the units had a hole in it and was leaking all over the attic floor. Also said 2 of the units were pulling way too high amperage. Also they were about to go out. The cost of several options presented was very high. I asked if the tech blew out the lines and he said no AC companies do that anymore. Hmmm. So I got a second opinion. The second opinion technician blew out the lines, put freon in one unit and said all the amperage readings were within normal limits and saud there was NO hole in the drip pan. My husband also got in the attic and confirmed this. Further, last year Texas Air Doctors gave me an estimate to fix my gas fireplace. They said the entire unit needed to be replaced and they couldn't just get replacement parts. Quoted $1300.00 to fix it. I got a second opinion and they fixed it for $630. Hmmmm once again. Very disappointed with TAD integrity. Did not call them out on either issue. That never gets you anywhere.

I'm sorry you were disappointed in our service. I feel that I should explain why the drain lines should not be "Blown Out." We belong to many industry association (ACCA, Nexstar, Service Roundtable, etc.) and in discussing the topic of condensate wast line failures, there is a high occurance of pipes breaking inside the walls and flooding the home when air presssure is used. Considering that the average 4-ton air conditioner will produce up to 25-gallons of water during a typical Summer day, it is a fools folly to "Blow" the lines and most responsible contractors find another, less damaging wasy to clear the pipes. As far as the other items he described to you, those are easy to prove or disprove by accessing the manufacturers specifications for amp draw, voltage, etc. If you have any other questions about this service please call. I have never felt more scammed by a company than by Texas Air Doctors. I paid out over $545 to them which was a band aid according to their technician and my A/C unit is still not functioning. I am beyond frustrated at Angies List for even having these people on their list of A/C companies. This has given me no hope for future dealings with Angies List.
Description of Work: Inspected my A/C system and determined a condenser fan motor needed to be replaced. I was billed $545 for a service that averages around $275 here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area (I got two other bids after being raked over the coals). While the company was on time, fast and prompt they were over double the average price of any other licensed A/C company in DFW. I was absolutely appalled when I was told how much it was to fix our issue but with a new born in the house I had no choice but to have them fix it. The worst part is the A/C went out again 3 days later and I was now told that my entire A/C system needed to be replaced to the tune of $10,500 for a 2 ton unit by Texas Air Doctors- Again double the other quotes I had of around $5,200 from licensed A/C professionals. Needless to say I still have no working A/C and had to go buy a few window units to keep it tolerable in my house.

Response from Texas Air Doctors
I've been trying for several days to figure out how to answer this review. The customer claims that he paid "over $545" for a condenser fan motor. That is not true. It appears that the customer was mistaken as he only paid $476. And that $476 included not only the Condenser Fan Motor but 1-pound of Freon and and the service call fee. The system failed again 5-days later with a bad compressor. I am truly sorry, but mechanical equipment fails. Particularly when it's old. We offered to credit the amount the customer spent on the repairs toward a new system if he wished to do that, but he elected to buy window units. We even offered 0% Interest and up to 60-months to pay through our financing bank. P.S. A condenser was not an option due to the age. All of the system had to be replaced.

Is it just me, or does every routine service call end with a need for $400-600 of repairs? We have used this company for 2 years and finally come to our senses. After buying this home we though we should get the units serviced. Although working perfectly, we were sternly advised to make needed repairs to prevent future catastrophic problems. We had them come out every 6 months for the next 2 years and heard the same saga. But guess what? All has been working perfectly--no catastrophy. But this last time after they came we had a leak in a PVC that was not there previously. We had them back out and guess what? We needed $400-$600 of repairs to prevent a catastrophe! It suddenly became apparent to us that they must be working on commission. Although nice to deal with, I'm not sure of their expertise, but I am sure of their pushy ways.

Dear [Member Name Removed], Angie’s List Review After reading your review on Angie’s List, I apologize for our inability to satisfy you and have reviewed your file. Please take the time to allow me to respond. Preventative Maintenance Our duty during a Preventative Maintenance inspection is to make a complete evaluation of the equipment and bring you up to date on your equipment based on the manufacturers’ specifications and the Local Building Codes. Failure to do so puts us at risk and we could be liable if you have a failure. For example: a single air conditioning system will condense from the air and drain to sanitary plumbing over 20-gallons of water per day. You have 3 systems for a total of 60 gallons per day. If we failed to recommend a ceiling saver and the drains failed we would be liable for all of the damage. Also, if we did not recommend a repair and it became an issue, at best, you’d be mad at us. It is always your choice to make the repair or not. We just give you the options. Age of Your Systems It appears, according to the serial numbers, that your systems are from 92 (2) & 93 (1) so they are 22 and 23 Years old. Insurance company actuarial tables indicate that the average air conditioning system lasts 12-years; therefore, these systems are equivalent to a 150 year-old man. Prior Owners Since we performed the maintenance for the previous owners ([Member Name Removed]) I believe our preventative maintenance was instrumental in making these systems last as long as they have. Record of Service Visits 1. August 8, 2014 Service performed for total of $1010. a. Mustang Club Gold Membership 3 Systems for 1 year $480 Replaced 2 Voltage Regulators $530 2. Nov 21, 2014 Heating system tune up on 3 furnaces $0 a. Customer was informed that although the gas supply is grandfathered under the old code, the new gas code requires some changes but it is up to the customer to make the decision. b. Customer was informed that there is no ceiling savers on the systems. c. Customer declined both suggestions. d. Customer was given filter code and contact information for Filter Fetch to order filters. 3. May 15, 2015 3 System Mustang Club Cooling Tune Up $0 a. Technician found a motor “over amping” which means that it was drawing electrical amperage over and above the manufacturers specifications. This is a sign of potential failure and we always recommend that it be changed as a preemptive measure to prevent an inconvenient failure. (Midnight on the 4th of July with guests for example.) b. Tech also found that the voltage regulator on the third unit (the other two were changed 8/8/14 above) did not meet manufacturer’s specifications and recommended it be changed. (One sign of a failing voltage regulator is when your interior lights may dim when that air conditioner comes on) c. Tech also recommended Compressor Savers on two units. (Older systems, need the help to get the compressor to start up.) See http://www.five-two-one.com/ and watch the simple video explanation on the compressor saver. d. Tech also recommended that the condenser fan motor be changed because it is not rotating freely (sticking). This is a sign of dry motor bearings, which indicates potential failure. e. You authorized and we installed 2 hard start kits (Compressor Savers) $448.50 4. June 9, 2015 Technician said: “Last time we were out pvc pipe was open on the end and cold air is blowing out forming condensation, which was leaking onto the floor of the attic.” Repair appointment was scheduled for June 16, 2015 which was canceled by customer. I must empathize that we would never intentionally do anything detrimental to your equipment. Hopefully this will meet with your approval and you’ll realize that we are doing like all businesses today and covering our assets. Sincerely, Frank Gossett

Appointment time was between 1-3. He arrived around 1:40pm. He asked what my unit was doing & I told him. I showed him where my outside unit was. Within minutes he was on his phone on a personal call. I could hear the conversation so I knew it was a personal call. I went back in & went back to work. After a while, he came in to look at the inside unit and his phone rang and he picked it up and was on another personal call. This call lasted about 10 minutes. After he did his testing he advised me what was wrong with my unit. He had to turn my AC on while he was testing it but left it on while his was in his truck writing up a quote on a new unit. It was a cold day anyways, and then of course even colder after he turned it on. I wasn't sure if he needed it on for some reason but soon realized he didn't and I turned it off. I was told when I made the appointment that he would clean up the outside unit & do the inspection. I do know he did the inspection and that seemed to go fine as he was able to tell me what was wrong, and show me. But I am not sure if he did the cleaning as he never went over with me what all he did. When he left, he left some trash by my inside unit. I was only a few pieces but it was in plain sight and should not of been left. The price was reasonable for the work performed, even though I'm not sure they did all what they said they were going to do. I do feel as though taking personal calls while inspecting/testing my AC unit was very unprofessional.

Fireplace would not come on when electrical switch was flipped. Texas Air was able to provide someone to come out within two days. Jeff was great, came out and replaced some of the electrical wiring at the switch itself. He also found a slow gas leak and replaced the gas line. Repairs were quickly and professionally done. However, a few days later the fireplace was back to it's old tricks and would not turn on when the electrical switch was fixed. I called and Jeff was able to come out the next morning and repair the electrical wiring at the base of the fireplace, no charge. So far so good. Fast and professional service.
