Sky Blue Pools, Inc.

I'll update this review as I go along. This rating is due to a pool resurface job that is happening at my house as I write. I received 4 quotes and Sky Blue was the highest ranging in $1000. I went with Sky Blue because I thought it would be the easiest. It has been a 1 star experience. I use them for other services. Sometimes someone cleans the filter and I never knew they were there. Other times I come out to a huge mess of flooded water filled with de and de all over my pool equipment and on my filter monitor. Pool cleaning is the same. They are either 1 star or 5 star. Denise in the office is awesome. Very helpful and always responsive. They are quick to come put and get things done. 5 stars for that. My pool job started knowing I would be out of town on a certain date and I have dogs that need to be coordinated. The problem is that Blue Sky contracts out each step. So where Blue Sky never leaves my gate open and unlatched when they are done with a job, the same cant be said for the contractors. The first thing that was done was tearing up the tile. That makes a mess. There were broken pieces of tile all around the pool. When the guys were done they took a house and washed it all off into my grass, over to the basketball area, into my French drains, etc. I did stop them. No one spoke English and there is no supervisor. I called David the next morning because its a Sunday and I'm pretty mad that they did this on a Saturday and I want to know what day it's being cleaned up. Monday I find out that they were supposed to clean up after they left. Problem #1there was no supervision or follow up when this work was done. Getting someone out to clean it up was like pulling teeth. Instead of receiving calls to ME to follow up, I had to keep calling David to tell him no one was at my house. They didn't come back to my house until TUESDAY to clean up the mess they created on Saturday. Some of it was tracked in my house by the dogs and I had to keep checking their feet for cuts. A guy finally came on Tuesday, but I'm sure I'll find pieces throughout the summer as it was all over my yard ane alot has fallen into the Saint Augustin where it can't be seen. I'll keep adding to get to today. Because today brought it all back down to the same quality and level of service as the first day. Next stage was the bond coat. Fortunately I had a friend stop by that spoke Spanish, so he told the guy he couldn't run the house to run off into my neighbors driveway, nor was it OK to drain all the plaster mess through my french drains. He also explained to him, close the gate, the dogs have to come out at come point. Again, not my job to keep their contractor from flooding and having to pay my neighbor for the mess they were about to create. Next stage, yesterday was the plaster. I touched base with David because the color looks off. Of course he hasn't actually seen it. They apparently just hire it all out in their name. He said to send him a photo. He tells me its plaster dust and it's going to be acid washed today (Saturday.) We had a storm last night. My pool is a mess and it's halfway full of water. I'm thinking "Wow, what a storm!" Well apparently they started filing the pool. I send David a message and photo of the pool...sitting water= algae. New pool should equal zero algae. And I tell him that when I went through the videos I noticed they left the pool to fill. Someone turned on the water with no notice and no one to supervise the pool level. I have someone at my house and they are about to leave so they ask if they should turn off the water. They go ahead and turn it off because its getting full and no one is there. Its totally irresponsible to turn on the water and to not even coordinate with me or have anyone supervising it. Whats going on today? Who knows? David is busy saying goodbye to his grandson (per text) and is again not supervising my pool. Davids response was that a neighbor or friend needs to fill it to the middle line. NO David, you were hired to finish out the pool job which includes cleaning it at the end. And he knows I'm out of town. The lack of professionalism and communication makes this a 1 star. And we aren't done yet. David is now unresponsive and my pool is sitting with stale water and algae growing and behind schedule. Its been one excuse after another everything I call to get information.

I have used Sky Blue for nearly 4 years, and have had them repair my pool pump, do weekly chemicals, and routine maintenance. This past month I had them renew my old cool deck coating. This past month I them remove and replace my cool deck. The contractor did an excellent job removing the old deck coating, then applying new coating, as well as installing new mastic caulking around the pool and deck. It is a beautiful job, and and has totally changed the appearance of my back yard. Cost was not cheap, but I am very proud of the job, and it only took 3 days.

They tore up my equipment, they ruined my heater cord. They stripped out the vacuum gauge. They used my tools, they didn't know what they were doing. They didn't haul off the debris. They didn't follow through with their policies. I was very dissatisfied with them.

They sent out one person. It took him 10 minutes to fix it. It was the same person who had converted our pool from chlorine to saline so I had worked with him before. It was good.

The serviceman was very knowledgable. He took his time to explain the steps for the conversion and to ask and answer any questions we might have.

I was please with the technicians findings and professionalism. I did have to call and ask for the report to be emailed to me, but maybe I was just being impatient. They seem like a great company and I would recommend them for pool services needs.

My appointment was for early afternoon - approximately 2:00 PM - I rushed home from running errands only to find that they did not show. At approximately 6:30 in the evening I see someone walking around my backyard. It was the provider over 4 hours late to give an estimate. When I asked why he just came into my backyard, he said there were no cars so he assumed no one was home. My car was in the garage. My doorbell never rang. I have to say that the rep was nice, gave me some ideas, and said the estimate would be emailed which it was. The biggest problem comes with the markup on the material. At least 40% - that in my book is extreme. I had already looked up the purchase price and shipping of the equipment that he recommended and was shocked to see the markup on the estimate. Knowing that a pool company can get a much better price than an individual, the markup is probably even higher.

Matt shows up every week to complete the service in a competent and responsible manner. He's friendly and dependable and we never give a thought to our pool maintenance.

They are my pool people. The price varies depending on what they do. I really like the guy that comes and does the pool. His name is BJ. He goes above and beyond. I would highly recommend him. Administratively I've been really impressed with them too. The people in the office and even the owner have been here several times.

Everything was very professionally done. They came out on time and took a look on time, but I have to be the one doing all the calling before they actually send me a mail estimate. They were very nice. They did not charge anything for the estimate. We would use them again in the future too because they are knowledgeable.

Very good service and they are highly recommended.

This is ongoing, but, after 3 weeks I am very impressed. I've called twice with questions and the response has be professional and detailed.

When I had the pool resurfaced last year, the technicians arrived on time on the designated day and came to the front door first to let me know they were there before going into the back yard. They were polite, respectful, and appropriately dressed. The workers were careful to park their trucks away from my driveway and my neighbor's property. They worked quickly and efficiently and took care not to disturb any of the plants and shrubs around the pool. None of the technicians came to the door while they were there and worked as quietly as possible. They let me know when they were finished for the day and at what time they would return the next day. When the job was complete, you would never have known they were there at all. They left behind nothing but a beautifully white pool and spotless deck. I could not have been more pleased with the overall job.
