As a Handy Man contractor, Larry and wife Mary Pat did a super job completing a wide variety of projects - what a team! They can do and were willing to tackle every honey-do project that we wanted done, even in the blistering hot weather in the 90s. Larry had built his own home from scratch himself so there's nothing he hasn't had experience doing. They were very creative in solving complex problems in the most simple and cost-effective manner that made the most sense. Our first meeting was to do a walk-through of the house and discuss what needed to be done and what materials they might need to buy in advance, and what equipment they might need to bring to complete the numerous tasks. All tasks were completed within a reasonable two half-days. Since I'm retired, we were able to easily resolve any questions that arose during the completion of the tasks. Corinth is normally outside their normal service area, but they made an exception in our case. It will be a pleasure to hire them again for any future handyman projects.

Larry responded within 3 hours to my online request for quote - and it was a Saturday evening!! He and his wife came by the following Monday (the Memorial Day holiday!) because my request was urgent (hot air coming into house through broken attic door) and after reviewing and giving me a quote agreed to perform work following day! They kept me informed of their arrival time which was great. They did an excellent job on the repair and made recommendations for future improvements. The other tasks were similarly well done and Larry and his wife could have not been more helpful. The price matched quote and was very reasonable. We are already scheduling further work with them. To be honest finding guys like Larry is one of the reasons I keep using Angie's List.

From the moment they started the job they were pleasant. They took the time to explain everything that needed to be done and they treated me not like their customer but like their friend! I would recommend them to all of my friends!

Extremely pleased with all work. Added lights to the exterior of the garage. There were no lights, so he had to run electrical wiring through the attic and walls. He also moved the exterior porch light from the wall to the ceiling on the front porch. Everything looks great. The 2 doors leading from the house to the front porch and back porch were not originally installed properly by the original home owner. He leveled them and had to add shims to one. He also added the door seals around both doors. Now both doors operate properly, look great, and won't drain the utilities due to the huge gaps between the door and the door jambs. So impressed with his work, already hired him for future work on a huge project.

The service performed for this project went better than expected. They responded quickly to my request and was able to schedule to do the work within a week. Their labor fees were reasonable and they were able to get the stain for me at a discount. I will use them again.

Larry and Mary Pat were great to work with on several projects around my house. They spent hours and several trips back and forth to Home Depot getting paint to match perfectly. The estimate given for all of the work they did for me was fair, and they were always prompt and communicated with us very well on when the work could be performed. I look forward to working with them again!

It went very well - A+! They are meticulous in their work and went over and above when they cleaned a ceiling fan knowing that we did not have a ladder tall enough to reach it. I would definitely hire them again and highly recommend them!

Larry and Mary Pat Fortney are wonderful to work with. They are my new go-to-service for all of my handyman repairs. What I liked most about them: 1) They communicate clearly the service to be performed. -I knew what I would pay. I knew how each step would go. There was good communication and no surprises--sadly, a rarity these days. 2) You can collaborate with them on the options. -The boat gate specifically never worked well since we moved in. I'd had a variety of people look at it and shy away from fixing it. Larry and I talked through various options and he put a plan together based on our talk. He did a complete renovation: wielding, wood, handles, wheele--and it works beautifully. 3) They show up when they say they will. -They are not hard to get ahold of and they show up always when they say they will. These were not single day projects, but they were never late. Everything started and finished ontime. 4) They are detail-oriented -Larry cares about the finished product. There were many steps he took on paint matching (determining a type of paint to deal with a discontinued brand, seeing other small fixes around the project that would enhance the finished result on budget, making suggestions for me on things he saw not related to the project that I could use to protect and maintain my property. It was like having a trained home consultant working with you. I was satisfied with both the end-result and the process. I will use them again, often.

Email I sent to Larry Fortney Home Repairs: Okay Larry, here’s the deal and the bottom line. I am not happy with the results! You knew what and how I wanted the light fixture to be hung the day of installation, I made myself perfectly clear. As I recollect, you made yourself clear as well. You said . . . and I quote. That is too much work! I don’t have that kind of time! I’ll have to enlarge the hole in the ceiling and cut or whittle down the beam, you don’t know what you’re asking for! BTW, I have cameras and recorders all over my home. Ultimately, I caved because you had already removed the only light fixture I had over my table and you threw a temper-tantrum to get your way. You were prepared to leave me with nothing rather than install the fixture the way I indicated. Sir, you are a bully. That is a fact. You received your $240.00 from a grieving widow and child with no income and knowingly left me with undesired results. To be clear: At my prompting and in distress, we contacted the manufacturer, Tim at Vonn Lighting (718-784-0205) on the day of installation, Thursday, 26 October to get clarification. While speaking to Tim at Vonn Lighting, you were more interested in getting validation to continue along your path, rather than ask for guidance for ideas on how to create the look I required and hired you to perform. It is not as though I was asking for something that could not be done; as a matter of fact, it is relatively routine. Nonetheless, it boils down to only one of two things - either, you did not want to do the work I required; or, you were incapable or lacked the skills do the work I required. Either way, I paid you for incomplete work and you know it. Even now, you are making a concerted effort to argue that you installed the light fixture just as "you were told to do" per Vonn’s instructions. As well, you have insinuated, that I am wrong for expecting more from you than what the instructions indicate. My bad, according to Angies List and Mary Pat, you were capable of rising to the challenge. Larry, anyone can read instructions, but not everyone can "think outside-the-box or inside the ceiling." I advised Mary Pat from the very beginning that this was going to be a unique install. To the point that I forwarded the picture of the light fixture to be installed, complete with instructions well in advance of our scheduled appointment on Thursday, 26 October. In addition, I specifically mentioned that this job was going to require effort and creativity. For $60.00 an hour (4hrs/$240.00) I should be beaming ear-to-ear. It does not matter that you took the time to Google Vonn's Lighting instructions in an attempt, that has fallen flat, to prove that you were right and I was wrong, simply because you did as you were told per Vonn’s instructions. Vonn Lighting was not paying you for your services, nor will they be writing your next review on Angies List. I only wish you had taken the same amount of time and effort to Google ways to make me happy instead of unhappy. I am not interested in right or wrong, only results. *************************************************************************************************************************** Tim, please take a moment to review and study Mr. Fortney’s email that he addressed to me and that I have attached below. Mr. Fortney, is intent on proving that he installed the fixture “exactly” as directed according to the instructions supplied by Vonn Lighting. In his email, Mr. Fortney produces the exact light fixture and the accompanying installation instructions. Truly, Mr. Fortney brings to light (again) with strong and pointed words that his work was within spec., although, not to my satisfaction or desired results, he has VALID concerns to be addressed. As I recollect, I had already contacted Vonn Lighting regarding the instructions that were NOT, and should have been supplied with the fixture I fell in love with. Thankfully, you took the time to write a few lines of instructions and we were good to go.

No work was done. I send a message regarding some work that needed done. He responded promptly. I sent the message on a Saturday night not expecting to hear from him until Monday, so was pleasantly surprised to have a voice mail from him on Sunday. He told me he was booked for a month out. My response was that I wanted the work to be done sooner than that but I had not heard back from the other requests and that may be the soonest any one could get to me and would he like to give an estimate on the work done. His response was as if I had insulted him. I let him know I was happy his business was doing so well. I am glad we agree he would not be working for me. I hope my response was more pleasant but not sure since I was pretty offended by the tone of his email. Hi Linda, I took the time to call you on a Sunday. Why would I spend my time, money, and effort to come look at something you want done when you openly say that if someone can do it sooner that's what you're going to do?? My time is just as valuable as yours. Hope you find someone to get your work done, we're not interested. Perfect! Enjoy having these people in my house. They are reasonably priced and have a good eye for decorating. This is the second time I have used them and will call them again.

Larry did a fantastic job with all of the work he completed. He worked swiftly and smartly. When the problem was not straight forward, he worked quickly to find a solution. Mary Pat was always there to help him out and was a joy to talk to during the 4 hours they were with me. If we weren't moving, I would use them again and again.

They did a fantastic job, paying meticulous attention to the details. The estimate they provided was fair, and they actually came in just a bit under the estimate. They showed up when they said they would, were very responsive with their communications, and were very friendly. Of particular importance to me, every day they cleaned up all materials, and left absolutely not a speck of mess behind when they were finished. I'm making my next list of work for them now, and am glad we found someone with considerable skills and absolute professionalism to turn to for home repair work.

The quality of their work was great-- including clean up-- and even touched up some things that weren't on the list. I would hire them again.

The husband and wife team showed up on time and performed all of the items of work assigned to them in an efficient and professional manner. They performed quality workmanship.

Superb job done here. We have had problems finding the "right people" to help - Larry & Mary fit the bill to a T. They are very creative and cost-conscious, about as fair and down to earth people we've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. A special item to note is that they understand and communicated clearly about the importance of the little things, like using better grade nails and screws for example or things to watch out for in the future. They are our new go-to guys & we sincerely appreciate their professionalism, quality of work and general level of comfort they bring with them every single day.

I was satisfied with the work they did. I like that this is a husband and wife team. They both worked to complete my "to-do" list.
